Someone Asks “What Show Did You Start And Wind Up Hating So Much You Didn’t Finish It?” And 50 People Share
There are no two ways about it—we absolutely love TV shows and movies. There’s nothing quite like immersing yourself in a fantasy world or someone else’s drama and hardships. A well-crafted storyline and believable characters are worth far more than their weight in gold. Alas! A good pilot episode or even a great first season don’t guarantee quality entertainment in the future…
Redditor u/DadIsMadAtMe started up a really interesting thread on r/AskReddit after asking cinephiles around the globe about the shows that they started watching but hated so much they couldn’t muster the patience to finish them. And, wow, do we relate to a lot of these opinions. Scroll down to see what popular shows went downhill and why.
Bored Panda reached out to entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle expert Mike Sington to get his opinion on TV shows jumping the shark, why the quality of writing falls off the cliff so often, and what a long-running series can mean for an actor's career. Read on for our full interview with Hollywood's Ultimate Insider!

Walking Dead.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the first three seasons. Then, they brought new show runners in and they destroyed the show. The storytelling was insulting, there was no creativity, they immediately made our favorite characters so unlikable, events just happened for no real reason, and it just felt like these new writers had no prior knowledge of the show before working on it. I can only think about what this show could have been if these changes didn’t happen.
The end of the line for me was how they were painfully dragging out the whole Negan saga. I don't remember what season it was but I just quit in the middle of it
Agreed, it started out great but the whole Negan saga, as stated, was exhausting to watch. I had to stop after about the 2nd season of Negan.
I stopped about 4 episodes into Negan's first season. I caught an episode here and there channel surfing and would watch a few minutes to see if it was any good. I literally lmao when I saw Tiger King. Never really heard anything good about it, either. The first few seasons were wonderful and I was a huge fan. I can't even rewatch those knowing that it turns into such a shitstorm.
Load More Replies...What got me is they originally smeared zombie on them so they wouldn't be detected... why didn't they just keep doing this if it worked?
It didn't keep working. A kid got chomped on for not being quiet enough while zombie smeared and another guy got really sick. Turns out smearing decomposing blood and gusts on your skin isn't very healthy.
Load More Replies...This is my favorite show DON'T YOU DARE DOWNVOTE ME. I get that not everyone likes it, but it hurts a little to see this in the #1 spot ☹️
I also really enjoyed watching most of The Walking Dead
Load More Replies...Well I really liked it. Agreed that there were a few questionable bits but I've never had anxiety while watching a show like the Negan/Glen episode, it was gripping and heart breaking.
Soap Opera with zombies in the backround, to make a short description
If I watch a show for a long time I will force myself to make it the the series finale because I feel like I wasted so much time if I don't. I watched TWD all the way to the end.
Honestly I genuinely dislike this show. I tried to like it but everything made me cringe and the overwhelming cringe emotion was just too distracting for me lol. My twin loves it though so this is probably the only place I’ll talk s**t about it 😝
I won a season of this show on DVD and watched it, and I hated it mostly because I couldn't STAND any of the characters. They were a bunch of insufferable dumbasses. In fact when I later met Michael Rooker at a convention I told him "you know, you played the only character I liked in The Walking Dead." He said "you can't have liked Merle!" and I said "Dude all the other characters were morons. The guy who goes around killing them is a-okay in my book."
Agreed. Season 1 was good, and each season after was worse than the previous. I think I quit around season 4.
My quitting point was around season 4 as well. And watching at that point was such a chore that I was basically rooting for the walkers to come finish off the people
Load More Replies..."One reason why there may be a noticeable drop in writing quality in long-running television series is due to the difficulty in maintaining a fresh and compelling storyline over an extended period. As a series continues, writers may struggle to come up with new ideas or may rely too heavily on previously successful storylines, leading to a sense of stagnation or repetition," entertainment expert Mike, from LA, explained to Bored Panda why there's a noticeable drop in quality in long-running TV shows.
"Another factor that may contribute to a decline in writing quality is changes in the creative team. As writers and showrunners leave or are replaced, the show's tone and direction may shift, resulting in a departure from what made the show initially successful," he said.
"To counteract these challenges, some television series employ a writers' room, a team of writers who collaborate on the series' storyline and character arcs. Additionally, having a clear endgame in mind can help ensure that the series maintains its creative momentum and avoids a drop in quality."
Don’t hate me but Friends. Seen the first 5 episodes and absolutely hated it.
I can recite nearly every episode verbatim. A friend bought me the trivia game and after a group of us played it twice one night I never could get anyone to play with me again 😭
Load More Replies...Diff'rent Strokes! ... when Dana Plato went off to boarding school? when they brought on the Cousin Oliver because Gary Coleman started looking like a 45-year-old hobbit? (75 if you remember the way hobbits age)? When Edna Garrett left and was replaced by the obnoxious Southern belle?
Load More Replies...I said it before and I'll say it again, terrible show we only watched it because there was nothing else on in that time slot
That might be a true statement if it aired in the 1970s when there was like 2 shows on.
Load More Replies...Aside from Phoebe and occasionally Chandler, it is a very over rated show.
Orange is the New Black. the first few seasons were good. They lost me after a while!
Piper annoyed the f*****g s**t out of me
Same with me. Eventually I lost interest but I hung on for a long time, happily. I can’t remember what it was that derailed me.
First season was awesome, when it was a new and exciting show! Second season was good….after that 😅 best thing I can say is that OITNB gave us more Natasha Lyonne 🧡
Load More Replies...I actually loved the series - but Piper could have f****d off entirely and I probably would have loved it even better
I laughed out loud, I have to agree with you 😂
Load More Replies...I thought the riot season really dragged, but it got better again afterward. Piper isn't very likeable or interesting, but it's not like she dominates the screen, anyway.
It all went downhill after THAT character was "unalived" in season 3. That season wasn't good, but that was the point where it couldn't go back
The entertainment expert shared a few examples of TV series that have remained consistently good, no matter how many seasons have been on the air. According to Mike, these include Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and The Crown. These are all "critically acclaimed shows that sustained their quality throughout their respective runs."
"These shows all had a clear sense of direction and vision from their showrunners and writers, which allowed them to maintain their creative momentum over an extended period."
Handmaid’s Tale. The first season starts so strong but as the seasons go on the story refuses to move forward. It was just an endless cycle of failed escapes. Or when characters finally have the chance to escape they either change their mind or go back inside. It’s like the writers were too afraid to shake up the status quo. After a few seasons I just gave up.
I am severely struggling with even watching the latest season and I used to be on my Edge of my seat waiting for the next episode to drop. So sad that I feel so differently now. I used to love this show.
If being on the Edge of your seat isn't enough anymore, try being on the Chrome of your seat instead.
Load More Replies...This is because the book ends where season 1 ends, with her being taken away. Everything from season 2 on has mostly been Original, not written by the author. There's a second book now and they're just starting to incorporate some of that,.in the show, so it should hopefully end strong.
Oh I didn’t know that! I gotten as far as Serena and Fred are in Canada but gave up. Maybe I’ll try again.
Load More Replies...the fact that the main actress is into scientology gives a weird aura to this series
Indeed. Glad to hear it's not just me. I have a big problem separating actors who are actively promoting the "church" of scientology from their work. And yes that includes Tom Cruise.
Load More Replies...Like Orange is the New Black, it struggled to go beyond what was presented in the book. This 100% should have been a limited series.
Yeah, Hollywood really needs to realize it's okay for a show to run its course and finish. If they remade Roots today it'd probably run fur 6 seasons for no good reason.
Load More Replies...I can’t watch it anymore. My anxiety goes through the roof just watching.
I have kept watching it because my spouse wants to, but the constant drumbeat of suffering and cruelty is a bit too much to take.
Same. Quit partway through Season 2. Again, it became all about cruelty... and started to resemble life in the US a bit too much.
I still keep watching it (seems like every season is called the last season but then it comes back) but the first couple of seasons were definitely the strongest.
Agreed. I was barely able to get through season 1. I get this is fake, but the idea just makes me beyond mad. I would not be surprised that there are some people out there who would enjoy this type of life situation in real life. Then there are things currently happening in real life that feel too closely related to this.
Greys anatomy. I checked out FOREVER ago.
I expect you don’t mind spoilers so I’m going with it lol, but season 18 (I think) had her finally leaving grey Sloan and she was about to leave for Boston and then her house suddenly burned down from a lightning strike and I couldn’t stop laughing, it was so absurdly overdramatic and unnecessary
I stopped watching it when Izzie went nuts and started having imaginary sex with her dead boyfriend, whom she had killed. Didn't miss it.
That was a long time ago. I stopped watching shortly after a main character died. As someone who spends a lot of time in hospitals, I found it ridiculous that the doctors were so invested in their patients, when in real life, it’s nothing like that.
Load More Replies...You got that right. No show will ever match ER
Load More Replies...Checked out when they killed off McSteamy and Little Grey. Never watched a Shonda show after that. People come and go from our lives, you don't need to kill them with a plane or a bus. Shonda Rhymes is a lazy showrunner.
They were my favorite characters. That's when they should have killed Meredith and Derek. .maybe I would still be a fan. Lexi could have become the main character and still be called Grey's Anatomy.
Load More Replies...I've always hoped it would end with meridith having alzheimers and in a nursing home recounting her life to her daughter, thinking her daughter is christina. Full circle since her mom would tell her stories in an alzheimers haze thinking she was her best friend.
YES I hope so but can you imagine how insufferable she would be with alzheimers??
Load More Replies...Every year, I'm shocked it's still on... she must have some serious leverage...
She makes enough money to keep it on the air and keep her character front and center
Load More Replies...I got tired of Meredith always working, never home, then would say "my kids are waiting at home for me!" to somebody. Next scene she's in bed with latest boyfriend and kids are forgotten.
I used to watch every Thursday when it first came out. Friends and I would get together every week, have food and drinks and made a little girls night out of it. When I moved about an hour away and wasn't getting together with them every week.... it became VERY clear that I only enjoyed it for the routine with my friends.
Did the exact Same Thing.. Have we been Friends? 😅
Load More Replies...I stopped watch after Callie left. Callie and Christina were my two favorites, once they were gone I just didn't care anymore.
Glee. The funny thing about this show is it originally started as a satire of the very thing it became.
Yep, descended into utter tripe, where they broke fingernails scraping the bottom of a barrel for plot...
I mean, I'm all for campiness and I didn't fault them for that. For me it was more song selection. It was so cheesy and I felt embarrassed for the actors having to pretend to be super excited about the songs. It just makes me think that some 60-70 year old show runner was the one choosing this because he thought it was 'hip'. My guess is they did it for cost, as I'm sure it was expensive to license the songs. But then they shouldn't have done it if they couldn't afford to do it right.
Load More Replies...I stopped watching Glee after the second season and wished I had stopped after the first half of season one. This is the fandom that introduced me to fan fiction because I was so frustrated by the lost potential. No character growth, recycling the same excuses for having new music every episode. They should have committed to the musical feature and just burst into coordinated song and dance numbers while moving through plot themes that were not supposedly possible competition songs more often. At least there some decent music came out of it all.
I got into fan fiction because of Glee too. I wanted better storylines than canon.
Load More Replies...It started out that they fitted the music to the story...after a while they forced the storylines around the music.
And Lea Michelle seems to have written in her contract that she would sing the solo in every show. Even if the story was about someone else...
I enjoyed the first few seasons but I have yet to finish watching the whole series. So boring.
The 6th season was totally unnecessary. Full with questionable subplots, introducing new characters only to say goodbye to them, felt like they didn't know how to end it... I still enjoyed it because of the songs, but it should've ended with season 5.
We were also interested to get the entertainment expert's thoughts on how playing a single character on a long-running TV show can impact an actor and their career. Mike told Bored Panda that there are certain advantages and disadvantages to this. Here are some of the pros:
- "Consistent work: One of the most significant benefits of playing a character on a long-running series is the steady and reliable income it can provide. Actors who play a popular or iconic character on a successful show may have job security for many years.
- Increased exposure: Television shows that attract large audiences can raise an actor's profile significantly. The exposure gained from appearing in a popular series can lead to more significant roles and opportunities in the future.
- Character development: Playing a single character for an extended period can allow an actor to explore and develop the character over time. As the character evolves, actors may have more opportunities to showcase their range and acting abilities."
Everybody loves Raymond. God what a manchild Raymond was. And the unnecessary hate on debra on all the subreddits. It just made me so furious. If I ever wound up with a husband like Raymond I would just pack my bags and run for my life.
What was wrong enough with the Debra character played by Patricia Heaton in the show that someone would take to Reddit to complain? She was the only somewhat normal one on the show except for perhaps she was married to Raymond and into his family and put up with it as much as she did. I think Patricia did a fine job of playing the part too. It wasn’t really my favorite show but my parents loved it so I ended up seeing a lot of episodes. On a side note. The Ray Romano is a very nice polite and humble guy based on my brief encounter many years ago.
The more it went on the more Debra moved from being the only sane person to being a shrew. Her character was reduced to little more than a one-dimensional younger Marie. Early season Debra was awesome.
Load More Replies...my sister loved this show. I hated it b/c they were all mean to eachother. there was no love. no like. no niceness. just mean, passive aggressive digs. nothing nice.
Load More Replies...Yep. ELR started out great, and now I'd run a long way to avoid it. For me the turning point was when I realised that every joke was the same. Raymond is continually faced with a choice of whether to be nice or whether to be honest. And no matter which he chooses, it's always the wrong choice.
everything the OP states they hated, was the entire premise of the show.
Heroes.
Well, the main villain of the show was the writer's strike. When they fired it up for season 3 it's as if no one knew what had happened in the first 2 seasons. It had potential.
Agree they forgot half the powers Sylar had then made him a good guy. Then wanted him to be the bad guy again. Would have been great but how they made him bad again was so bad I quit watching. They teased stuff but never delivered forgot storylines. Sylar told Claire she had more power than she knew about but all she did was just not die.
For the hot moment it was the coolest show on Earth, a moment later it dissapeared completely from the cultural consciousness.
First two seasons were fantastic. Then it quickly went downhill
Ugh this show had such amazing promise and the writers just mucked it up. It was like they kept waiting to do stuff. We watch this show to see the main characters using their powers and 9 times out of 10 they never did anything, and instead they just kept introducing new characters who would be awesome for one episode then get thrown on the pile with the rest of the cast. Peter's storyline never really came to fruition, they started focusing a lot of Jack, which wasn't a bad thing at first as he was a super dynamic character, but then never followed through with that, either. They were all over the place with Sylar. He was literally a serial killer and in the next season a good guy. It was just a show full of lots of ideas that never came to anything.
Vikings
after Ragnar died it was unwatchably boring
On season 6 - ep 14 - only and 6 episodes to go - hope I make it - wish me luck.
Know what was really good and kinda had the same feel? The Last Kingdom. Damn. I loved that show.
After Ragnar's death there was extreme overacting by the actors playing Bjorn, Ivar, Largetha, and Bjorn's FOURTH wife, Gunhild. OMG... Gunhild is like a big robot Viking woman.
I stopped watching after Ragnar died. He was the only reason I watched it!
I loved the first season of Vikings Valhalla, so when waiting for season 2 we tried Vikings. Didn't make it more than à few épisodes, don't know why. Binged through S2 of Valhalla, waiting for S3.
I enjoyed the new show. The battle between the Christian and pagan Viking clans as they continue to invade other countries
However, there are some cons as well:
- "Typecasting: Actors who play a single character on a long-running series may become typecast, making it challenging to find other roles that are not similar to the character they are known for playing.
- Limited opportunities for other projects: A long-running series can take up a significant amount of an actor's time, leaving little room for other acting projects. This can make it difficult for actors to take on other roles or participate in other productions.
- Lack of creative control: Actors who play a character on a television series do not have control over the writing or direction of the show. If the writing or direction changes in a way that they do not agree with, they may have limited ability to influence the outcome."
In short, playing a single character on a long-running television series "can provide consistent work, increased exposure, and character development," however, it has certain downsides, such as "typecasting, limited opportunities for other projects, and a lack of creative control."
According to Mike, whether an actor should pursue working on a long-lasting series will ultimately depend on their career goals and priorities.
Big Bang Theory. Hey, Big Bang was a great show! All 3 seasons! OMFG, there's 12 seasons? OMFG, somehow Young Sheldon has been renewed for a 7th season?
Young Sheldon is the worst. The totally forgot the stuff that Sheldon mentioned in the BBT and he is the least interesting character on the show. Plus they do Missy wrong I know she’s not as smart but they make dumb jokes about her all the time like they all gave up on her.
I think they do George Sr and Georgie a disservice and give Mary too much credit. I love Memaw and Missy!!
Load More Replies...I feel like my most unpopular opinion is thinking Big Bang theory is a great show. I know everyone mostly thinks it’s terrible and totally problematic sometimes but I can’t help but enjoy it.
I'm so conflicted!!! I roll my eyes at shows i find dumb that go on too long (like this one) but at the same time~ if others like it, whats it to me? Each to their own!?! Rock on, friend.
Load More Replies...There are some definite misses, and some seasons need to be ignored entirely. They pretty much ruined Penny's character by making her an alcoholic settling for marrying Leonard because her dreams didn't pan out, and they both know it, and turned Sheldon from someone likely on the spectrum to just an a*****e who is smug about irritating people with his habits and attitude because he thinks he knows everything.
All of Chuck Lorre's shows. Laugh tracks. Lots of sexualization and jokes about it. Characters who don't grow and don't seem to remember previous episodes. I definitely watched and laughed at some of Big Bang Theory and 2.5 Men's early seasons but would not rewatch.
All of Chuck Lorre's shows: Joking about animal cruelty.
Load More Replies...I could not stand how incredibly misogynistic it got. Serious deal breaker.
The Simpsons. It was my favorite show for years and it just keeps going and it’s not funny anymore. I do like to watch the first episode when they get Santa’s little helper around Christmas and I have a DVD with some early treehouse of horror episodes I watch around Halloween.
Feels like the newer seasons (last 10 years or so) try too hard to make a plot based on current trends.
The Simpsons will forever be my icons. Maybe the the older gens who liked the show's earlier seasons are having a hard time accepting that the show is evolving with the times. There's been some not so great episodes of recent. But I don't like some of the earlier episodes, too.
As far as I'm concerned it was cancelled after Season 10. The current show calling itself by the same name bears little to no resemblance at all to the show I remember.
I went from a huge fan watching it from the very first episode aired in Australia to not watching at all. It's got rubbish in the last 15yrs
I’ve been watching on Disney+, trying to find when the show just stopped being funny. It was right around season 10. Seasons 3-9 are incredible but they should have stopped there.
I liked it when Homer was just an idiot, he messed things up because he was stupid and unlucky. But he felt bad and tried to fix it. Quite a few years back they morphed him into just a selfish ahole. He hurts the family over and again because he's just a nasty selfish p***k. I stopped watching. Marge can do so much better.
Star Trek: Picard I found it to be an absolute betrayal and slap in the face to the spirit of Star Trek and the character of Jean-Luc Picard. I've been a Trekkie since I was a toddler. Seeing such a positive and enlightened group that was the United Federation of Planets be twisted into a racist and xenophobic organization for the sake of hammering home its themes was awful. Yes, Star Trek was always political and was always "woke" as they say now, but I think taking a society that's progressed beyond all the awful s**t we have today and making them just as awful is saddening. It also doesn't help that the writers engage in pushing stereotypes for this same purpose. Whether intentional on the writers' part or not, I found that taking the black lead of the show, and making her addicted to drugs and living in poverty in a society that's supposed to have no addiction or money - offensive and racist. They took Picard, a strong willed, respectful, and good man who held true to his ethics and desire to do the right thing and made him completely unrecognizable. At the risk of sounding dramatic, Star Trek: Picard genuinely upset me. All I saw while watching it was a series that I've held dear to my heart for most of my life being mangled and twisted into a corporate product designed to hit check boxes of what modern day audiences like in sci-fi shows. Which is dark, gritty, depressing, grimdark nonsense apparently. Old Star Trek looked at our society and said "We can be better than this." Modern Trek seems to blatantly say "No, we can't."
Ugh. Season one of Discovery was great. Batleth (sp?) fights on the hull of a Klingon spacecraft - sign me up. Black alerts - coolest alerts ever. Then each season it got less cool and more crying-y. So much crying! And then the shoehorned in girl-on-girl fights. Yuk.
Load More Replies...I have to say, as a life long Trekkie myself, I disagree! I absolutely hated the JJ Abrams movies with a fiery passion, never really got into Enterprise, and didn't like Discovery at all (the stupid tardigrade powered warp drive and the whole "let's change the Klingons into something completely unrecognizable to the fanbase" killed it for me), but somehow Picard has felt like a really nice return to earlier days. Particularly seasons 2 and 3. I don't mind the fact that society has its flaws- that sort of started in Deep Space Nine. I haven't checked out Strange New Worlds yet but I'm told it's quite good as well.
Yeah, same here! I love all the old characters coming back.
Load More Replies...I mean, the Federation has always been shown through a saviour's light. A white man's burden type thing. They're still a political body and Picard showed that. It's not all black and white. I agree they made it feel way too much like today's world when it should have been more progressive.
I think there's fundamentally depressing but sadly probably realistic outlook on humans as a whole. When in stress (by war or disaster) we show our good side but as a society, we tend to go several steps back. Like abandoning torture as an instrument to get confessions but once it's TERRORISTS who are questioned, it's okay to torture them. Or lock them up without a trial. It's not everyone who thinks it's okay but it's also never been everyone who was okay when it was first used regularly. Societies need to keep fighting for every progress made, because if we don't, we'll lose them. Look at Afghanistan and Iran and the s****y lot women are thrown back into! I was a trekki in my youth and I still love the show but it got honestly more interesting with DS9 and I tended to prefer "Babylon 5"'s portrayal of societies in the future. Seemed much more realistic than "we've overcome everythign bad and now we show the world how enlightened everyone can be if they join our Federation".
Load More Replies...It isn't, not really. The only difference is a few more TNG cast members and reference to Enterprise-D. The plot still lacks cohesion, still lacks the philosophy of TOS/TNG, and is still grimdark. Sorry, but why didn't the guy that Picard stole the shuttle from either tractor him or fire on the shuttle instead of doing nothing, that isn't cohesive. Do love it here that people DV for expressing an opinion on a silly Amazon tv show.
Load More Replies...I'm in a love-hate relationship with grimdark (i think thats the term?) stuff. I don't like it when it gets super depressing and hopeless and seems to be trying to say that we can't get out and we'll never change, but I actually write what could be considered grimdark fantasy, but less horrible and depressing. Mine and what I like all tends to be more of a reflection of hope and revolution- usually governing bodies tend to be either the active villains or just background s****y stuff and the main characters are fighting against that- and winning. It's all more general terrible stuff tho, not specific commentary. I don't want to be reminded of capitalism and politicized bigotry when I read/write a fantasy novel.
I think it's all good in balance. The problem is when you shove a story's tone off of a cliff without good justification. Otherwise, grimdark is fine, as is noble dark and noble bright. But simply put a different name on it if you want to change the tone so drastically >.<
Load More Replies...Lifelong Trekkie. Loved 1st season if Picard. Everyything after that, I agree with every word in this post. Discovery has similar problems to Picard. The only glimmer of hope is Strange New Worlds. 1st season was excellent. Hope it continues in the same vein.
I don't agree. To me Star Trek always was about pushing the envelope and adding social commentary to a great story. The modern shows do both in spades.
Word is Patrick Stewert had a heavy hand in this show, a bit of selfishness on his part, that frankly resulted in an appalling show. Season 1 was bad, I got half way through season 2 up to the point the girl with the huge forehead started singing. That was me done.
Lol... Is that different than Uhura dancing? All the old shows, TOS and TNG had cringe worthy bits. They are great despite of it. In 20 years , when a new generation is being made people will look back and claim Picard, Discovery etc . where soooo much better. Endless circle of flawed memories and romanticising the past.
Load More Replies...At least Picard got BETTER with each season (s3 is great so far ..)...DISCO went from rewriting Canon and redesigning well entrenched species to blatantly making up nonsense (time crystals?). Also bad writing throughout.
Whether we like to admit it or not, it’s not just good shows that we love watching. Many of us also enjoy the occasional hate-watching binge: putting on a show that we know is bad so we can unleash our inner film critic. Cue grumbling about weak storylines, inconsistent motivations, and one-dimensional characters.
Not only do we get to show the world (or, well, anyone in the same room as us) how we have far better taste than fans of show X, but we can also flex our creative muscles as we proclaim how we’d have done things completely differently—and far, far better. Schadenfreude is a powerful force, and we really do get pleasure from someone else’s misfortune. Say a writer’s script going downhill or watching actors going through the motions with no energy because it’s Season 39 and franchise Y won’t milk itself dry without them.
The fact of the matter is that creating a story is far more difficult than something sitting on the sidelines might think. Everyone who’s ever tried writing a short story, editing a book, or cobbling together a script will know that. It’s way easier to be a semi-decent critic than to be a barely-average writer. Especially for TV where there are so many other factors (from casting and filming to post-processing and marketing) to consider alongside the story.
Once Upon A Time
So effing glad I stopped at season two.
This is a comfort show for me, easy to watch and follow when you are not in the best of places to take on something more tasking.
The first season was FIRE! Perfection and my friends and I would get together at our house in college and watch it on TV (like actual TV with real commercial breaks and everything). So I have great memories and fondness for it. It’s like they raised the bar so high that the following seasons didn’t have a chance. The harder they tried the bigger they failed.
I still watched it, the biggest thing for me was they wrapped everything up pretty well and then decided to tack on one more season that was completely unnecessary.
I gave up on it when I realised I was supposed to *like* Snow and Prince Charming. I hated them with a passion. Insipid morons. Season 2 was the end for me also. There is some terrific fanfic out there though.
You just have to stick with it. It’s slow at first but gets better
Load More Replies...I had a really hard time getting through season 7. Turned it off halfway through episode 1 the first time I tried
I got addicted to to the Rumpelstiltskin character. Especially The point where Captain Killian rose up to be the evil one and Rimpelstiltskin delivered this perfectly absurdly evil "Hellooo" Soo tongue in cheek funny. But it did take me two tries to get going in the series as a whole I must admit
It got really good after season two, but then the characters that were making progress in becoming better people reverted and I just was too tired of going through it all again.
how i met your mother. After that final season, this is mine as well. A whole season spent on a wedding that was undone in ten minutes.
Yeah the final season was unnecessary the wedding being the setting for the whole season was constricting. Even though the show does point to her being dead at the end we didn’t need to know.
The final season ruined the entire show for me, and I loved it so much before then. I cannot rewatch it. I wish the writers had listened to the viewers and the cast members who voiced their concerns about the ending. But it did give us lots of Jason Segel, which is always a good thing.
You cannot spend all that time saying to the audience "Ted and Robin don't belong together but Robin and Barney do" and then in the last two episodes go "Psych!!"
How I Met Your Father is truly awful. Like truly. And I wanted to like it.
I think the last season could have been salvaged if they had brought back the original actors that played the kids that were shown in the first season to be the ones being told the story. Seeing them again in real time how much older they were and FINALLY getting tot he end of the story would have been satisfyingly funny for me.
this implies that they sat there for like years
Load More Replies...Personally, I find Ted is a horrible character and definitely not a good match for Robin. When Robin and Barny got together it made sense to me. Then the writer slapped me in the face.
Arrow.
For five years i was stranded on an island…
No wait, i was stranded on an island, and in hong kong, and then back to the island before i actually was in new york, but then i was rescued on the island again! It became an absolute mess lol
I started off loving this series but it became a mess once the romance was introduced.
I loved Arrow season 1 and 2, after that the story kinda fell off the rails.
It became a convoluted hot mess of green brooding in the shadows.
The hero character Green Arrow is a reference to Robin Hood but it's a spinoff of the comic book series.
Load More Replies...Survived 3 seasons... Damn most shows don't get better after 3... Im worried about Nancy Drew's last season now
I stopped at Season 3 I think.I read about timeskips? Different earth? I liked the first 2 seasons and the concept but it was weird at some point.
The whole different earths and multiverse c**p was brought in to tie all the CW DC shows together. You had to watch Arrow then Flash then supergirl then Flash then arrow then Flash again just for it to make sense.
Load More Replies...However, the story itself is still incredibly important. The narrative, the events, the characters, the details, they all have to be believable and grounded in the world’s logic—even if it’s a fantasy, sci-fi, or post-apocalyptic scenario. As we’ve written here on Bored Panda recently, the audience is willing to suspend its disbelief to enjoy a story… up to a certain point.
Yes, you can have dragons and magic and intergalactic space-faring aliens. But the story has to be believable within the context of the world you’re inviting the audience into.
Or, as writer and author Christopher Burke put it to us recently, “There can be a dragon. The dragon can swear, smoke cigars, and drink whiskey if it wants to. But if it starts talking about cigars and whiskey and gets basic facts (which are easily found) wrong, someone's going to notice, and that will pull them out of the moment. The audience will willingly accept the big stuff or they wouldn't watch the movie. It's the small stuff that's distracting, and sometimes you wonder if they could've avoided it."
How to get away with murder. Very repetitive
Never got the final season. Gave up after waiting over a year. Anyone would think it's the 80s still.
I gave up after season one. Normally I don't give up on shows but this show really annoyed me.
I loved the start of S1 and then about half way through wanted it to be OVER. But I made myself watch the rest to at least find out the solution. It was a rough ride
Yes I got so tired of nothing ever getting solve and more bs happening ever time
Riverdale. I think I lost it when it became fantasy/paranormal/cult horror? And I've heard that it ventures into time travel or something. Even typing this out confuses me so much lo
I hated this series from the start. My wife started to watch it and I was like, what have they done to my favorite comic! (My wife hadn't read Archie comics so it didn't affect her)
That's exactly why my mom and I don't watch it
Load More Replies...Totally agree. First season was great. Second mediocre. Then... WTF?? Gave up pretty promptly thereafter. Bizarre.
I loved it for being a entertaining dumpster fire but the musical episodes killed all joy of trying to watch it
Thank you! Why the musical? Shouldn't it be a very separate genre and not mixed with the rest?
Load More Replies...I just wanted to find out who killed Jason. Haven’t watched it since
As a kid me and my dad would buy the Archie comics (the comics it’s based off of) when they first came out. We stopped around issue 12 cuz we moved further from the comic shop but the show does not do them justice and I hate it. It would have been fun to see the plot of the comics as a show, but this just has the characters and the places nothing like the comics
Westworld. Loved the first season. Then it started going downhill. Haven’t seen the latest season and I don’t plan on it.
I LOVED it but couldn’t get past the excellent first season hahaha
Load More Replies...The first season was a true masterpiece of twists and turns it was just awesome. Then on season two it was like they were writing a different story with the same characters, like an anthology type of series. It went downhill real fast. I did not finish the season. I was so excited for where it would go next after season one. But it was a bust .
It definitely suffered from over engineering. 1st season was amazing and I do believe that Hoptkins brought a certain element that was very missed in the later seasons. This past season was not too bad, but still didn’t wipe away the 2 prior. That said, I wish they’d just finished the series properly…maybe movie in a few years a la deadwood?
I was blown away by the 1st season, the 2nd season was...OK. the 3rd season just lost me completely, its like it moved away from the original story and became a different show altogether. Gutted.
I stopped watching it when Delores 'became' a different person, taking over her body ... it just didn't work for me
the first season was great. If they had left it in the westworld park the show could have continued to be good. But they tried to many lofty ideas on something that started out so simple.
Characters spouting facts that are just plain wrong. Characters whose motivations flip-flop all over the place and change like the weather. Massive shifts in narrative tone. Storylines that become more and more complex and nonsensical, completely divorced from the show’s roots. Smart characters who become dumb whenever the plot demands it. Dumb characters who are overly dumb because the plot demands it…
…Expository dialogues. Stiff acting. Mary Sue characters that are pushed on the audience as though they’re the second coming of Jesus Christ. A lack of respect for the source material. Nonsensical dramas that don’t actually humanize the characters. Bad costumes and awful CGI. These are just some of the things that ruin our enjoyment of a show! Most of them can be solved with better writing and editing and the courage to stand up for better standards instead of pushing out what’s fast, cheap, and easy.
Supernatural. Season 1-5: Sam and Dean search for their missing father, unravel the mystery of their mother’s death, and close the gates of hell. Season 15: Sam and Dean need to kill god. It feels like a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that’s gone on for far too long lol
I stopped watching with the end of season 12. I just couldn't anymore. I should have stopped with season 8.
Load More Replies...Supernatural is probably one of my favorite TV shows of all time, just because it's so downright ridiculous. If you can drag yourself through the whole thing, it's a blast going back and rewatching going "Oh hey, this thing happened that completely contradicts the finale!". If you're watching it for actual good television, stop at season 5 and do not watch the last scene. If you're watching it because you need to let out your inner film critic, go ham on this one.
I agree. I was definitely a fan until it got heavy boring and ridiculous. They lost the formula that kept it fun and interesting.
After reading this I'm so glad I stopped watching after S5. Once it got all weirdly biblical I was over it.
I stuck with it til the bitter end, but don’t ask me about anything that happened in the last 10 seasons. :p Probably would have given up sooner if the leads weren’t so handsome to be completely honest.
The last few episodes were horrendous, what a terrible way to end a 15 season show. It had its ups & downs for me but i did watch the whole thing.
It was good for the first 5 seasons (Erik Kripke's original story), SOMEHOW good until season 11, but since season 12 it just turned into c**p. Pity, it was my favourite show.
Game of Thrones. It's a tough show to watch, even if you like it. Besides killing everyone you love, it's also really ra**y.
Rainy. The weather was terrible. Something about winter I think.
Load More Replies...One of my favourite shows but the last 2 seasons were just… you know what, let’s not talk about those seasons.
Agreed. 6 seasons of some of the best TV ever made, then.... Urgh.
Load More Replies...Serious question- why do people complain about this? Why does seeing words that are triggering to some, words on a site where kids visit, or possibly words that take away ad revenue be blurred or starred out bug people that much? I mean it’s not like you don’t know the words. It’s not like your whole thought is being censored. I genuinely want to know what is your particular reason for being annoyed by it?
Load More Replies...The last season let it down so badly I think it destroyed any good feeling people had for it. Like no one even really talks about it anymore considering how huge it was at the time. Although I loved it at the time I don’t think it’s one I would ever go back and rewatch because a lot of it was too disturbing.
Yeah in contrast to most of this list, the issue is that they rushed too much. If they'd stretched the last seasons out like the first instead of having people teleport and had competent writers who knew how to write character consistency they could have had a real gem.
Load More Replies...Watched the full thing because it was entertaining and the last two seasons just to have it finished, but probably wouldn't rewatch it again
I was waiting for this one. If you were turned off by the incest, oppression and brutality you should’ve jumped off the train first episode. What is interesting is that 99% of people wish they could say they started GOT and bailed before it got bad. But we didn’t. We all watched the last season. First because I mean CTFO it’s GOT. Second you kept some hope and patience they were building something amazing. Third you saw wild shît and thought “ok this can’t be it, there has to be something else?” Finally you came this far you had to see the ultimate carnage of the train wreck. The final season of GOT is basically a Rick Roll to millions of people.
Lost. Made it about 9 episodes and it seems JJ's career has done nothing since to show me he's capable of ending anything.
I’ve seen all of it, and yes, it is insane, and I don’t quite understand the last three seasons, and sure, it went on for too long, but I love it.
Watched it with my kids. When it had finished my oldest turned around and said "So what was the point of all that?"
My son and I did the same thing! That was the most disappointing ending.
Load More Replies...The problem with Lost was that it had a tremendous set up, and no one knew how to really explain the mystery or end the series. You can tell more and more as the show goes on, everyone is just making stuff up as they go along with no real end game, until the end where they miss the landing completely. But man did I love it while I was watching it.
For me it was when the fan-base, in between Seasons 1, and 2 were discussing online, and politely where the island was, and what it meant...and everyone came to the consensus that it was Purgatory. The writers released interview after interview stating, "It's NOT Purgatory!"...way too many Seasons later it's revealed the island is... Purgatory...
I was fully invested, right up until it ended and left us in limbo, like what happened, what was the truth. Kind of like nurse Jackie, that was a great show, the very last scene left me screaming
Yes you're right. I lost the plot in the last season.
Load More Replies...Yes, I watched the whole series and it went on for too long. This is a show that seemed to start out knowing where it was going...but then I think people figured it out so the writers said, "No, you're wrong! It's really this other thing we just made up!"
I watched first 2 season as a teen, I was super excited about the mysteries and the atmosphere, but when I started 3rd season and they didn't answer ANY of the questions, but started making new mysterious stuff, my hype just died.
I watched the whole thing on Netflix……so mad I spent all that time binge watching just for THAT ending. WTF?
The Blacklist Season 1 established a cool story and a great anti-hero. The remainder of the series is about the insufferable protagonist ruining his plans, and how an entire FBI agency bends over backwards to support her, no matter how often or how hard she betrays them. There's a season without her that I thought was actually good again but she returns and starts immediately making incredibly stupid mistakes again so I couldn't continue.
The problem is that they absolutely refuse any form of reveal about Red to the point where it's absolutely unrealistic and ridiculous. And that's the point where it tips. She's supposed to be this smart and incredibly talented profiler, so she had to find out something tangible after season one, but the writers absolutely didn't want to reveal anything or make any progress. They insisted on the mystery. And that's the tipping point where Liz became insufferable to drive the plot. Without her idiotic decisions there would be no plot beyond the first season because the writers didn't write one. And when I realized that they would milk Red's mystery beyond any reason and it's most likely they'll probably never solve it until maybe a very rushed and silly conclusion when the series get cancelled, if they get that chance at all, I stopped watching.
This. Loved season one, stayed through the next season for James Spader, then had to bail.
Load More Replies...I know this would be on the list.(some spoilers ahead, be warned) I like the first few seasons. Raymond was absolutely the pillar of the show. Elizabeth was interesting at first, but then she gets more and more annoying. Worse, they keep dragging on the mystery of who Raymond really is. I remembered watching until around Season 4 or 5, and I still knew practically nothing about him. Also, I miss Mr.Kaplan. She was absolutely the best side character of the show. I love everything about her, and I definitely love her backstory (I still get teary when I think about how she got the name "Mr.Kaplan")
This is another one of those shows I stopped watching simply because I stopped caring and forgot to keep up.
Don't even get me started on this show. I started watching it because I'm a huge fan of James Spader. The first 2 seasons were tolerable but the constant question of who he was got ridiculous, especially since they weren't sure if he was her father or not, and yet they were playing up the romantic angle. It was creepy and annoying. If they would have just established it one way or another, even just to the fans watching and the girl's character still wouldn't have known, it would have been better. I stopped watching after the 3rd season but a friend of mine told me it's literally gone off the rails at this point. Even Spader's amazing acting can't save it past a certain point.
Agree with sonja, plus i can't anything where main characters repeatedly make horrendous decisions and the world magically bends so they have reduced or no consequences
I’m just glad they ended scrubs at season 8 and didn’t try to make a spin-off
I love Scrubs, one of my favorite shows to this day! The Med school is not to be talked about.🤫
I also like to pretend that shows who where good to a point ended when it was time
I know there were definitely no comics dragging Buffy the Vampire Slayer into even more ruin :-D
Load More Replies...Actually it wasn't planned to have a 9th season. Bill Lawrence wanted to make a new series in the same universe. But producers (?) decided to make it Scrubs S9. I really liked it for what it was intended to be.
Still the last season was dragging pretty bad. And it was inherently designed to end when the main two characters finished residency because they didn't start bringing in new people who could replace them.
When the original group moved on, I should have done the same. Still grateful for the My Musical episode. Broadway-worthy songs far beyond expectations from ANY sitcom.
13 reasons why. I’m not gonna lie when this show dropped I binged all of the first season in secrecy because I was so embarrassed that I was hooked lmao. But getting to the end of that season I was satisfied. Was not into whatever school shooter plot they were setting up for the rest so just called it quits after S1. Feel zero need to ever return.
Is that the one where the girl suicides and then comes back to see the results and everyone upset?
Oh yeah, that’s the show my therapist suggested I avoid for now for many reasons :) the messages in this show really bothered a couple of my friends and especially my sister, who has been through several suicide attempts. It’s opened up some interesting conversations.
Load More Replies...I didn't understand why it got more seasons when the books story was done
I didn't even get through the first episode. The portrayal of mental illness and suicide was so offensively bad.
It feels like something that should have just stayed at one season and told the story and left it at that. As usual when something becomes massively popular they want to get more stories out of it and drag it out. It actually got even more disturbing though and I couldn’t watch it.
I only watched the first season. I loved the book and I don't feel like it should have continued.
This show would have been great if they had just stuck with one season.
I could rant about this forever. First season touched on some subjects that many parents didn’t realize may be affecting their kids. I would’ve recommended watching it with high schoolers to answer questions and provide guidance. But later it became culture rage porn. Literally every single issue in the news was happening right in this school and one way or another affected the core cast. I mean Jesus did any of these kids ever have fun?! You can address issues like they did in the first season and ideally project a wide array of emotions in the high school experience. Regardless of what media wants you to know not every single school has every social issue impacting its students from the serious to the forgetful. That all being said if you want to get Meta, the fact that so many of those kids didn’t kill themselves after the nightmares they endured sparked by a suicide is a triumph
Binged the first series…suffered through the second under some sort of misguided feelings of loyalty…saw a few of the third and decided to stop wasting my life.
Third? Your kidding! How the hell did they string it out that far? No don't tell me, I don't want to know. I watched the first because I'd read the book and I do like to play how accurate to book is this.

Dexter. Trinity killer season was peak tv…but then Debs finding out about things and somehow allowing it to continue just felt weird. I stopped watching not long after that. Tried rewatching it all more recently and got to the exact same point before giving up for a second time! ha
I agree. The books are SO much better. But I gotta admit: Michael C Hall pulled off the role of Dexter perfectly.
The books are amazing until the last one. People weren't happy with the ending of the series but I'll take that over the last book any day
Load More Replies...Deb fell in love with her brother. What a stupid, desperate script writers' move. They obviously ran out of ideas.
Wow, I can't even wrap my head around that. We stopped watching soon after her finding out.
Load More Replies...This was my favourite show, I tried to rewatch it and I just couldn't on the trinity killers season. Also knowing the fact that Debs the most law abiding person on the planet finds out does nothing and then falls in love with her brother. It's all a bit WTF??
Fun fact: actors playing Dexter and Deb got married in real life. Maybe the showrunners tried to work around the tension between them that was visible in the show? If viewers can see how they look at each other anyway, it would maybe feel less suspicious if they hooked up their characters anyway.
Then he cheated on her and by the end of the series they were divorced.
Load More Replies...Managed to make it all the way through with a little regret. Series 5 was poor, 6, okay at a push, 7 and 8 awful - don’t even get me started on the ending. That said, when they rebooted it, I was pleased with what they did. Again, still had potential to do more, but at least they tied up some loose ends.
Far as I'm concerned this show only has 4 seasons. I stuck with it somewhere into season 6, but it was never as good as anything in seasons 1-4.
Suits. How they managed to put together 9 seasons of the same s**t over and over I'll never understand becuase I quit in the middle of season 3.
elizabethjacques added:
exactly. it dawned on me that all it really was was people strutting in and out of each others’ offices having brief heated exchanges.
I respectfully disagree. But I lost interest when Mike moved out of New York.
Has anyone noticed there is barely any dialogue? They talk for like one sentence each then dramatic music then another sentence each, no one actually speaks for more than a few seconds at a time.
Yes and they all have catch phrases they say in almost every episodes
Load More Replies...Well. there is the Duchess of Sussex, and not acting as the Duchess of Sussex...
OMG, there are NINE seasons? I quit watching sometime in season three because I got tired of Harvey and Jessica sniping at each other. I couldn't remember why they hated each other and it was boring.
The Umbrella Academy, sort of… first season was fire, second season 2 I started hating Allison, stopped paying attention, gave season 3 a chance, realized how abysmally terrible Allison’s character is, half assed my way through the rest of the season, really only paying attention to “important parts”.
The only saving Grace for season 2&3 are Aiden, who does an overly incredible job at portraying number 5.
Klaus is the only reason I kept watching season 3
Load More Replies...No. 5 is absolutely fantastic. The Vanya/ Victor storyline could have used some finesse but I enjoyed the series.
I kind of liked that it basically boiled down to "I'm Viktor now" and the family re-expressed their love for their brother. It wouldnt have bothered me either way if it had more finesse or were made a bigger deal of. I think worked for the show and didn;t really allow fodder for the homophobes (not that any show or person should allow any of those any thought when dealing with subjects, like this).
Load More Replies...I don't mind Allison, 5 and Klaus are definitely the saving grace. The only character I've never really liked is Lila...gosh she annoys me but that's just my opinion. Lol
I love this show but Allison isnt the best character. She's a good actor it's just that there are better ones. The teenager is better than her, sorry. Great show though, can't wait for the last season.
Gilmore Girls Forced myself to get through most of the show because I didn’t realize how insufferable the main characters where going to be until I was already too far in…and even then I couldn’t finish it. Rory and Lorelei single-handedly ruined the show for me.
Oh yeah, everyone in that show makes me want to pull my hair out.
The dialogue no one talks like that unless it’s written by a show writer. There is so much pop culture references in what should be normal basic dialogue. No one can quip like that all the time. As per the few episodes I was exposed to by my female friends.
Marvelous Mrs Maisel is the same writer and exactly the same fast paced, heavily scripted dialogue. But, its better acting and a more enjoyable storyline which moves quicker too....
Load More Replies...It got so insufferable once Rory graduated High School. Should've ended there. Actually I think it started going sour even earlier on. I know her grandma is rich. I still can't wrap my head around how Rory was able to just travel around Europe repeatedly for 1 or 2 years, when Lorelai barely had a job and was investing in renovating a hotel. Where is all this money coming from?
Haven't watched the show in years, but wasn't it the point of the show that the grandparents supported Rory financially whereas Lorerei never wanted any help from them?
Load More Replies...Watched it the first time through when it was first on television. Wife wanted to rewatch it a few years ago when they ran the mini series we couldn't get very far. Lorelei and Rory are terrible human beings. They are emotionally manipulative bullies who hurt everyone around them.
The rest of my family loves this show and I hate it so much. The dialogue is grating to my soul, I find all the characters fairly unlikable except the guy with the backwards hat. It’s at the point where I can’t even stand 5 minutes of it.
Such awful acting. So scripted. But like any drug you take to escape your own reality, I have to say, I was addicted to this show. Its ideallic setting is so wholesome, you just want to be swallowed up into it. But, like, without any of them there. Except Luke. He can stay.
Rory gets worse with every season and the worst character in that show. i'm sad that character went so downhill with... everything. (Aside from that, you can tell in the newly made seasons that she is really not a good actress.)
They talk like chipmunks on crack, I hate this show. The entire dialog is like a race to see who can spit their lines out the fastest
I loved the series when it came out. I was young and I reweatched it last year and the 4 seasons and Rory is insufferable. I can't stand her anymore - just a spoild child
Agreed. Rory is not as morally sound as it was easily assumed she'd be. Very, very self involved and constantly cheating on her partners, with her partner. Uck.
Load More Replies...That 90s Show. I liked That 70s Show. It was funny and it had its moments. But I watched the first couple episodes of That 90s Show and it just isn't cutting it for me. It seems like the old characters show up just for cheap nostalgia points for the fans and Kitty/Red/the basement are only there to keep reminding the fans its a That 70s Show sequel. Even though Kitty and Red are blatantly the best part of the show. The kids in this show are just...not people I'm interested in at all. First, they look way more like kids than the original cast which I suppose is technically more accurate and should be a good thing, but instead it just feels weird being an adult watching them deal with sex and drugs. Second, the humor feels way more modern with kids who are just unbelievably caricatures. Third, Eric's daughter is supposed to be a socially awkward nerd like he was but when you look at her you know instantly there is no way she would have had problems making friends and getting attention in school. Eric looked like a nerd. The characters in the original all looked their part and were written at least moderately believable. This feels like a lazy cash grab. Not interested.
Hey! This is from Reddit and this guy and I talked back n forth about the show lol. Ultimately, this show looks like it should be on Disney or Nickelodeon.
To be fair it was better than the other spin-off shows, probably because they brought back the old cast. Still pretty ordinary but ok for some light watching
As soon as a child was grabbing another childs penis I quit watching. Don't know why hollywood is trying to sexualize children but it is not okay.
Didn't know they even made a "that 90s show." Feels so weird to think that the 90s was even THAT long ago. Definitely doesn't feel like it was long enough ago to have it's own freaking show!
That 70s show came out in the 90s, 20 years after...and it's 20 years after the 90s. That's what happens when you live through a time period vs just hear about it.
Load More Replies...Oh man, I'm gonna get roasted for this, but Breaking bad. Just couldn't hold my interest for some reason.
Oh, my lord! I was pleased to have loved Breaking Bad through to the end. The quality of many tv series start going downhill during seasons four or five. (I’m looking at you, X-Files.)
Yup - barely made it through the first season. Everyone was an ärsehole. I didn’t want anyone to win.
That was what it made it fun for me! No good guys, everyone is bad!
Load More Replies...It’s a great show with great actors but tell the story of awful people I don’t like to suffer.
Fair point. For me some of the draw was how outlandish all these people were. Probably wouldn't have worked half as well if they made me think of Kevin down the block on a Tuesday or something like that
Load More Replies...BB is my favorite show ever. Yes...they have those long drawn out scenes where one of the characters is doing something mundane but I really just loved it so much.
Netflix’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I really liked the first season, barely made it through the second season, and refuse to watch the third
Never liked it from the word "go". Just couldn't warm to any of the characters, unlike the kids series where you genuinely cared about them!
Agreed. They tried to make it serious with no comedy, which the original show was all about. Ruined it
Load More Replies...I could barely make it through the first episode. I hate spiders and that was an unnecessary spider asmr nightmare fuel scene.
It's only kinda fun it for one episode. I won't spoil it but the rest was just an easy way out, maybe because they knew it wouldn't be commissioned for a 4th season so needed to wrap it up one way or another.
Load More Replies...Now I wasn't expecting to like this, but I loved it until the very end. I mean, seriously the ending was completely ridiculous and demeaning to the damned main character!
I watched the first...some of the second but didn't go past there. I really liked the original though.
the main character that cries at least once in EVERY episode, it was getting ridiculous
The Flash.
I gave up on the entire Arrowverse about five years ago. It wasn't even like a conscious decision. I was kind of getting behind in all my shows, and I eventually realized I was about a month or so behind on Arrow and Flash and Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, and I just didn't care. So I just never bothered to watch any of them anymore.
OMG Iris is like one of the most annoying character ever (in the rank with Sakura). And it is the last season, so i watched like 2 episodes, efects and writting of the show is still crappy, so i spent my time on the phone "watching" the show
I'm the same, loved them but the crossovers never seemed timed right and it just became the confusion universe. I will go back and watch them again, legends was my favourite, I really enjoy time travel shows and they never seem to pick up speed, for instance Timeless was awesome and look what happened there, cancelled
Everyone in my family watched this show for years, and in the middle of a random season, we all stopped watching it and never talked about it again. It’s not like it was terrible, we just all independently had our fill maybe? It’s kind of weird actually.
Loved them all for the first two seasons, enjoyed them for another three, and just gave them all up at the same time.
Isn't flash that really weird dude who wears makeup and causes fights in bars??
I was in the same boat... Why do I need to watch 3 other different series to know what's going on? And to watch 3 other series' episodes in a certain order?? Nope. I quit.
Emily in Paris. I've heard that show described as "French Twilight minus the vampires."
... guys have we finally found something that is not in fact a better love story than twilight
I love it. Everything about it. It's ridiculous and probably lowers my IQ but I can't wait to see the next season.
It is worse than Twilight. Emily is obnoxious. Why glorify a horrid American tourist. I watch for the clothes and French music. Every character is (mostly) annoying.
Its entertaining, but Emily is the worst part of the show. She's an absolutely abhorrent character... annoying, entitled, irresponsible, selfish...just blech. What's worse is, it's not ironic. The writers I think wrote her that way thinking it would come off as cute and quirky. No. She's an a*****e.
The office, I’m sorry but it was too boring
I watched the British version first and it was good, but l found the American hilarious
Load More Replies...I stopped enjoying the show after Pam and Jim got married. If they ended it there I could have been content with that. They were the only reason I loved the show prior to their marriage.
False. It was Dwight who u really loved to see.
Load More Replies...Yeah I love this show so much but when Michael left it just wasn't as good..
Load More Replies...It's a background noise show to me. I can't get into the characters or the plots. Too much dry humor and some of the character's antics trigger flashbacks from times I was treated poorly or humiliated in a similar way at work.
Agree why does everyone put up with that kind of nonsense. None of the jokes are funny if they were said in real someone would probably get hit by another employee and HR would have to actually do something. Dwight would annoy most people to quit if he wasn’t fired for any number of offenses first. Not to mention Micheal is so incompetent he should have been fired for all kinds of things too. Plus after Micheal left Andy was a worse replacement.
Watch the British version. It's hysterical. I've never watched the American version. I couldn't get through the first show. Note: born and raised in Texas.
Shameless. Just an over the top soap opera towards the later seasons. Still haven’t finished the last 6 episodes and probably never will.
You can say that about 95% of American "remakes".
Load More Replies...The original UK one was difficult to watch. I liked it but I felt like I needed a shower and a funny cat video after each episode.
Americans always copy British TV shows. Steptoe and Son became Sanford and son in the US. Wouldn't be too bad if they did a decent job but they butchered The In-betweeners, Life on Mars, Ghosts, The IT crowd and The Office. The British sense of humour doesn't really work in US TV shows. Our sense of humor is dark and self deprecating. We love the bants and calling our best friends c**ts. Americans are too happy clappy.
I definitely loved the US version of Queer as Folk, though. Or is that Canadian?

Couldn't bring myself to watch it, after binge watching the original English version. According to my hubs, the American version was great.
The only thing I have against this show is that my daughter has watched it no less than 9 times in its entirety. She just re-starts it when its done, over and over. I hear that theme song in my sleep.
I understood the show to be about the working poor and how that can affect each family member, esp. children. But coming from a working poor family with an alcoholic parent (not Wm. H. Macy level), I was astounded over how much of their problems were of their own making. By the time I was rolling my eyes multiple times over another crisis caused by another idiotic family member, it wasn't worth the sore eyes.
The Witcher.
Yes the series isn’t over (yet) but as a fan of the world just not interested after season 2
I will watch it for Henry Cavill alone, but I don't think I will give it a chance when Liam Hemsworth takes over. I like it that Cavill stuck to his opinion and left when he didn't like the writing anymore.
🎶 Toss a coin to your Witcher, oh, Valley of Plenty, oh, Valley of Plenty… 🎶
Season one was one of the best fantasy shows I've ever watched. Yennifer was always the standout character, Geralt was just the hot, grumpy pillar that the show leaned on. It was still excellent though. Being someone who had no knowledge of the game, I had no issue getting into it. Complex, sometimes scary, moving, exciting, etc...season two sucked in comparison.
There are also books that the games are based upon!
Load More Replies...Season 2 was a big letdown after the debut Season. They deliberately shoved Geralt in the background and made it the Ciri and Yennifer show, which would have been easier to tolerate had their storylines been interesting. The showrunner and creative team don't respect the source material.
I love the game series and the books. Season 1 was epic, Henry Cavill is brilliant as Geralt but sadly, Season 2 was a big let down. I think I stopped watching after about the fourth episode. The Witcher without Cavil is not something that sounds worth watching. The writers should stick to the source material.
I'm so angry, I really hoped it will be good, but it's like a extra lazy bad parody of the books. Why the hell are you adapting something if you make completely different story and turn the source material into a very bad teen show?
I honestly wish Netflix would just cancel it. They started off pretty good, but then screwed up so badly they lost their beloved lead actor-along with the majority of the fans. It is just a waste of money at this point.
I've always thought Geralt really, really needs to get some blood work done. It's the health professional in me that can't look past the grey
Stranger Things. Good monster mystery show. Awful preteen romance show.
A "good monster mystery show" should revolve around the relationships of the characters (including, but not just romantic) and how those relationships help defeat the monster. Otherwise we're mostly looking at a B-horror movie—and not a cult classic.
I got a bit sick of Eleven not being able to use her powers I just wanted her to beat Vecna to a pulp.
I see what you mean but on the other hand it is very interesting to watch her rebuild her powers, fight Vecna, and then LOSE for once. I admit I really expected them to win again, so I was kinda shocked that Vecna’s plan worked. I think the last season will be interesting.
Load More Replies...Season 1 was great. Season 2 was good. Season 3 went all Scooby Doo. Season 4 was great again (thanks, Eddie). Season 5 was a distraction of haircuts.
We were totally satisfied after the first season and never watched another episode.
Load More Replies...The first two seasons were OK. The third was iffy and I haven't even seen the fourth.
I loved the fourth. While watching it the first time, I was a bit annoyed with the switches between the characters and their locations but when I saw it again, it works really fine (I tend to fixate on favorite characters and get annoyed when they're not constantly the focus, lol)
Load More Replies...Awww...I love this show. Agreed, I am struggling to connect some of the dots, but at this point, I'm basically watching this like a Freddy Krueger flick: scary, fun, anything can happen. Love the way Dustin & Steve play off of each other, and I adore the introduction of Robin! She reminds me a lot if myself...frenetic energy, socially awkward, occasionally rambley when I open my mouth & a little of the crazy slips out...
Well, the good thing about TV-shows is that we can stop watching when we don't enjoy them anymore. I still love the show and I found s4 incredibly tense. I loved it. And there are a few things that keep annoying me but eh, nobody can be happy with everything all the time. I am glad, though, that it has a fixed end-date and I hope they won't ride this pony to death like some other shows have been.
They left the 80s small town mystery style way too fast for me to like it anymore. The characters are also invincible now so it's just kinda boring
every single season of AHS since Freak Show. always starts out strong and interesting. and then usually halfway through, Ryan Murphy consistently shows that he can’t finish a story and I realize what’s going to happen and just decide to quit. around Roanoke, I stopped even giving him a chance.
I still like 'em all even when they're dumb. Lol. But I will say I don't like them as much without Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
After Jessica Lange left I couldn't watch it. Even with the great cast they still had, it just lacked without her.
I think each season is hit or miss. Like I hated asylum but then loved coven. I gave up on freak show and then I didn’t bother with hotel because I can never see lady Gaga as anyone other than lady Gaga 🤔
Oh same. I loved the first few seasons so much, and then haven't yet found a new season that holds me longer than a couple of episodes.
First season I was WTF?? Second season I was like seriously.....WTAF??? Halfway through the third season I gave up. The show was just getting more and more disgusting just for the shock value. I just couldn't stand it anymore.
I'm actually with you on this, I was so buzzed when a new season was about to drop. I watched a few episodes of Roanoke and just could not endure the rest, I watched half an episode of cult and tapped out. But I must say I did give apocalypse a chance and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was like coming back to the first few seasons again. I did try 1984 but I was pregnant at the time and did not have the stomach for it almost instantly I was freaked out and looking under the bed for monsters lol. Good old hormones, I will have to give that another shot now
I stopped watching when Sky lost Fox/FX and it moved onto a subscriber platform I didn't have...but I agree. I did like Coven and the Hotel one but most of them were underwhelming. Even the first - good story but as you say, the ending was a mess. It ended, then seemed to go on for a few more unnecessary episodes, as did Asylum and a few others.
I really liked Coven, but I think that's the last season I watched.
The first 2 seasons were amazing. Coven was "meh". Roanoke was terrible. I started Double Feature, but gave up. Haven't watched since.
True Blood. I can't exactly remember what happened, but sometime around when other faeries start showing up regularly (maybe end of Season 4?) I just suddenly couldn't stand it anymore. I think some of the central human characters were also gone by then, which might have made it harder to stick with as well.
Watched until the end. The last episode sucked but still glad I finished the whole thing. Not one I can go back and rewatch though.
This is my guilty pleasure! I agree it ended bad, but I love everything about it. I have the box set of every season and I watch it in it's entirety at least twice a year. Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten? Yes, please!!!! My favorite character was Lafayette (RIP Nelsan Ellis), he was just too fab! Also Pam, but I wish she'd been a bit more like the books. Yes, I have all the books, too. If you enjoyed the books, though, may I suggest the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton? They are superb if you like fantasy supernatural reading! ⚠️: if you read them, once they get to the sexy stuff they're really trashy and only get trashier😉. They make 50 Shades read like a Sunday school pamphlet, lol!😂
I read the books and watched the series.... All I can say and see now is Alexander Skarsgard mmmmm lol Thank you for the book recommendations!!!
Load More Replies...True Blood, post Season 4 definitely went downhill. The final season was terrible.
After season 3, the script writers clearly ran out of ideas, and it became more and more stupid.
I've read all of the books. I couldn't make it past the second episode.
If they had stuck to the plot of the books (like the 1st season mostly did) it would have continued to be great. But it kept getting more and more stupid. The last episode was just ridiculous and awful. I highly recommend everyone just read the books instead.
Oh my God the ending of this series was SUCH b******t! The ending of True Blood to its fans was like the ending of The Sopranos to ITS fans!
Sons of Anarchy. Man, I was so into this show! Then Clay starts beating up on Gemma and someone kidnaps Jax's kid so now we have to go to Ireland?? It felt like when an 80's sitcom would introduce a cute kid when the ratings were slipping and the show should just end.
The only reason I watched it was for the tension between Jax's wife and Gemma. Seriously, that was the only reason I watched it to the end.
Yeah, I think I binged the whole series over a couple of weekends. I almost quit when Clay punched Gemma in the face, but kept at it. Kind of wish I hadn't - that was some sick sh*t.
I have to admit, I really liked when Jax killed his Mom. She SO deserved it.
I watched the whole series, but I think it took me to the end and watching other good shows to realize just how bad the acting was
Was a big fan of the show till its very end. After couple of years just recently tried to rewatch it... damn, quit after 3 episodes as I could not handle the "super intense staring into the unkown future / to the horizon with somehow rockish cover songs"-moments anymore. Will try Mayans next.
It started with them actually being a club, having fun, doing stuff (good and bad) together. Then they all went to Ireland by magic. After that it just devolved into droning misery at every step. If you missed the later series *phone rings* 'S**t, we gotta go'. Over and over and over again. And suddenly every character seemed more than happy to have their *brothers* raped and/or murdered. Proper went off a cliff.
Did no one else stop watching after Opie got killed in prison? I was done after that. Liked it till then
The last two seasons of Killing Eve. Season 1 is one of the most perfect seasons of any show I have ever seen. I am still convinced that there's no way the rest of it was the same show.
Yeah, that old "Look at us, we are so super iNcLusiVE, we have QUEER characters! But we really can't let them have a gay happy ending, duh" again and it's so annoying because in the books they do get a happy ending. I read the books (first one is also the best) and intended to binge the series but with this ending, nope

Designated Survivor
First season was incredible, second season was fine, after that it was awful. It became something so different than when it began that the show was unrecognizable so I stopped watching within a few episodes of when it became a generic Washington DC based show.
ABC cancelled production after two seasons. The third was made by Netflix. Initially I was happy to there was another season ... until I watched it.
Yes, actually you're right and I couldn't place the actual reason it seemed so generic after season 2.
Load More Replies...It's Keifer Sutherland. As with "24", the whole world is about to cave in and by virtue of simply being a marvellous human being, he saves the world. Until the next crisis. When he saves it again. And again. Must be awesome to be so perfect.
Oh yes. I had such high hopes for this show but it went bonkers. The pilot was amazing. It was really fun to watch. I also like Kiefer Sutherland as an actor but I feel like he's gotten worse as an actor as he's gotten older. Or maybe I'm just so used to him being a badas$ that seeing him be a completely good guy comes off as wooden. I think it was pretty amazing that they killed his wife, because most shows won't really go there so I was impressed. But it's just a little too convoluted.
Couldn't get past show 6. Love Kiefer Sutherland he was doing a great job but the script was poorly written. Stopped watching it
Agreed. Loved the first season. Don't think I finished season two or anything after.
When I saw the season finale of the first season and saw how it would be continuing, I didn't bother with the rest. Shows like this should last one season only. Tell their story and get out.
You
I know it's supposed the be scandalous [criminal] porn for modern basic women but the first season wasn't that bad. Then it all derailed and now it's just the same thing: dude obsesses over woman, he somehow gets the girl, girl turns out to be not what he wanted, he finds a different one to obsess over, repeat. I gave up on season 3 when everyone was so [unalive] happy.
WTF?? Can we literally not use the word "dead" on BP. As in dead basic, dead simple, dead boring, dead dead dead. Is it always now "unalive"?? As in a word that actually doesn't exist?? Oh heaven help us.
Careful or they might start censoring “heaven” too since it’s related to “unaliving” 😝
Load More Replies...I was actually surprised to learn there was more than one season, because the first season wrapped up the story so well and there wasn't really anything left to tell. So I didn't bother to watch it any further, though I did enjoy season one. If you have a serial killer character, you can only have them get away with it for so long before it becomes too implausible to be believable.
I remember when BP didn't censor at all. Now, it's absurd.
Load More Replies...I'm still in season 3 and now season 4 is out. Highly doubt I'll watch it. He's just getting on my nerves at this point. Lol
Season 4 Part 1 is a dramatic failure of an experiment to restructure as a whodunit. It's inconsistent, and trying to riff on his image as a literary snob. You aren't missing anything.
Load More Replies...When the show goes to the California burbs, I was like, how is this NOT Desperate Housewives? Murder? Check. Narrator giving exposition? Check. I chose to quit after Season 1. He was just way too creepy for someone who's been stalked to keep watching.
Girls, I just hated all the characters. No redeeming qualities.
I have a strange reaction to Lena, like I get physically ill when she is present. It's terrible and I don't know why I react that way. Didn't like the show anyway but she made is ten times worse so that I had to stop watching.
Adam Driver was the best thing about that show. I completely understand why it launched his career but oh my God, I have never hated main characters as much as I did on Girls. Lena Dunham and Alison Williams were insufferable.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that way I wanted to like it and was hippy gritty at the time but instead I was just…eww
Load More Replies...I can't stand Lena Dunham so it was hard to watch to the point where l just quit
I thought the point of Girls was to hate all the characters, right? Hated that show.
What a weird premise for a show "We know you will absolutely hate the four main characters! Please watch anyway!"
Load More Replies...it's the arc of them going from girls to women...shoshanna was my fav...and she was a woman loooooong before the end of the series...and marnie was last girl standing
I got so into that show. But by the end it took me a few years to actually watch the last season. Once I did I wished I wouldn't have.
I know we are all supposed to hate Lena, but I can't help it, I loved Girls.
This is us. This show was like a never-ending drama sledge hammer to my head. It never ended. I only made it though the first two seasons.
I'm sure I'm going to "get it" for this, but I loved This is Us! I will die on this hill. 😁🥰
two perfect parents with three children with qddictions. Something is not right there
Prison break. Watched a few episodes into season 2 but it got boring.
Totally agree, it had such potential after the first series. Should of just kept it as a one series show.
Agreed. Tried a few episodes of season 2 but just couldn't get through it.
OMg this show was a prime example of an amazing tv show concept that was never fleshed out beyond the first season. Michael was supposed to be this amazing genius but ended up spending the entire serious in prison and his 'genius' was all for naught. I'm so tired of shows claiming a character is some kind of super-genius but never actually proving that beyond an occasional moment when it's convenient.
Arrested Development after Netflix took over
It is so pretentious. The narrator seems condescending because he is telling you why the joke is funny often repeating the joke like we are not paying attention. It is like if you were telling a joke and you said here’s the funny part did you laugh you should be laughing now. All the up next part is only a joke that is too weak to include in the main story.
The Netflix episodes were terrible. Didn't even come close to finishing.
Bojack, actually. The show was really good… so much so that I found that I was commiserating too much. I have depression and the show would negatively affect my mood so much that I ended up hating it. Can’t stand how it makes me feel, so I never finished it.
Yes! My partner absolutely loved it, and i thought it was an excellent show while we watched, but my god did it depress me. Hated how weird and drained i'd feel after - comforting to know that was not a weird "only me" thing!
This was 100% my depression show. I liked it but it did make me feel down, bc Bojack has everything we’re supposed to want and then this is the after. Oof! Liked the ending, actually
Load More Replies...It's one of the best shows ever made (wanna see my fan tattoo??) but definitely don't watch it when you're depressed.
The same happened to me with Black Mirror. It's a brilliant show, I loved every episode, but it depressed me. After watching an episode about robot dogs my mood was really pessimistic for over two weeks, so I stopped watching it.
Omg yes. I did watch almost all black mirror episodes. But couldn't binge watch. I needed to let space between episodes because I was left too depressed, paranoid and hopeless. It felt so real sometimes that it was scary. Great show tough.
Load More Replies...Yeah I feel a bit trapped in the nihilism of the show when I watch. I don't have a desire to watch because of how it makes me feel, despite how realistic it depicts things or has smart writing. Even more so because I grew up near Hollywood.
All ik about this show is it has an ace character which is cool
Glad to see someone choosing to not watch terrible tv. Wished more people would turn off the garbage that most tv shows have turned into. What has happened to us that writers feel the need to create really horrible content? I truly do not understand it, nor do I understand people’s choices to watch tv that is full of graphic and deeply disturbing violence, etc.
Wednesday. I don’t think im the target demographic though. Seemed like a corny CW show.
Her dance just absolutely killed me. I had to pause because I was laughing so hard. 😂😂
Load More Replies...I think it's more aimed towards young teens and below. I'm just above that age so didn't enjoy it at all.
Didn't fill like Tim Burton's work. Felt corny, rather than being creative, dark, and fascinating as he usually is.
Enjoyed it. The actress who played Wednesday did a tremendous job and they filled the world with interesting characters who all grew as the show progressed.
I wanted so badly to like it but it feels too much of "I'm not like everyone else, I'm different" and not really anything else. There is growth to her character, but it just feels flat. Bummer for me, but there is another season so maybe it'll change and if not I'm glad others like it and the Adams family can continue in a way.
My issue with it was Wednesday as a character worked because she was with the rest of her family. They shared screen time fairly equally and it all worked wonderfully. She's not fleshed out enough to carry a show on her own so she just feels....flat.
Load More Replies...I liked it. Im in My 50s, so I'm definitely not their target demographic.
Under the dome. I really like the book and the show started off pretty solid as I remember, but then it slowly got to where it was like "okay what's the dumbest thing we can think up?"
Other than the names of the characters, and the dome itself, the show bore very little resemblance to the novel.
This show could have been perfect if they had ended it the first season like they planned, but then they saw how much money it was bringing in and just couldn't help themselves but to extend it and it just became silly and messy when the first season was so engaging and tightly written.
Finished season 1, which started diverging heavily from the book, couldn't care to watch season 2 it was so bad.
Peaky blinders. I got quite annoyed with the fact that every season Tommy needed to have a new girl to f**k. Especially him the communist suffragette, why did they need to get together? Seemed really forced and annoying. I wish they had just had mutual respect eventually and not gone to romance.
Like...I get it...that can be annoying but Peaky Blinders overall is awesome! It's Cillian frigging Murray! Also watch Sunshine if you've never seen the movie.
I was late onboard, but binged the heck out of it. It made me look up the real historical figures that were portrayed... I will watch the movie when it comes out too.
My son loves this show and keeps pushing it so I watch an episode every now and then with him and I think about the menu for the week and remind myself we need eggs and that I could do with a haircut and I wonder if the kitten should be on an adult diet yet and if I should get new sandals.
Fun fact, we do our 4x4 offroad training in the quarry where they filmed the Romany camp where Tommy goes to find Esme in the final series. Drove round a corner and went "ooh this bit's in Peaky Blinders". The instructor looked at me like I had 2 heads which is really annoying because he's my hubby...
I got into it really late (halfway through season 6) but loved every second!
The 100.
I surprisingly made it 5 seasons in I think. I almost quit watching part way though season 1, because even though I really liked some aspects of the show, the characters and drama just pissed me off so much. I decided to keep going, and then I think episode 5 or 6 (?) got me hooked. It didn't change how much I disliked most of the characters, and that kind of remained a trend throughout the show for me. Was absolutely captivated by the story and concept, absolutely hated the characters and drama. Clarke, her mom, and Octavia sunk the show imo. After season 5 I think I just thought to myself "you know, I enjoyed a lot of that, but I think I've seen all I need to see"
Edit: spelling
I watched a few seasons but Clark became unbearable. Just mean girl energy, thinking she is in charge from the start. She grated on me. When they bumped of Lincoln I was done.
Im in the middle of season 7 now, which is not the best season at all, and could have been done without it, but its funny even though I agree with this post - I hate nearly all the characters and there is way too much over-the-top drama - I still cant stop watching it. Not sure if I enjoy it somehow or if its just morbid fascination, like staring at a car wreck!
Almost all of the shows listed here are long serialized shows where it seems there is no resolution at all. One keeps wondering when some kind of a solution to the tension will happen. After a couple seasons one wonders why I am wasting my time even watching something that is endless.
never go on a trip with Clark. She screws everything everywhere she goes. She will get you killed.
The Good Doctor. Sorry just too many cheesy flashbacks.
Manifest. No character to root for. No character growth. Each person making the same dumb choice over and over.
And how many times can they get away with saying "the callings" in one show.
Manifest grabbed me in season 1, lost me in the middle, and then interested me in the finale. It felt like it started with a clear vision, and then was taken over by writers who couldnt decide what they wanted the show to be about, and at the last minute, someone has a few intriguing ideas to end off on, lol
Yes! It was interesting to see how they were trying to fit back into a world that left them behind...and then it turned into "God wanted us to be here" and I noped the hell out.
Load More Replies...I watched the first episode and then just googled what happened next. Im still confused as to how a show about a plane disappearing turns into...that
The end of the line for me was how they were painfully dragging out the whole Negan saga. I don't remember what season it was but I just quit in the middle of it.
The_Woodsmann added:
That's right when I checked out as well. I was so done with the incredibly repetitive nature of the show at that point. Crew finds safe place, bad guys attack, find new safe place rinse and repeat over and over again
I was done with the walking dead in season 2. Never before on tv had it shown someone literally having their face eaten off. I was not prepared for it.
Weeds. I'll still rewatch the early stuff. Up until the fire. Never past the fire.
The Crown. Sad because the cinematography was top notch. The story however, too much for my historical fiction loving a*s
I really like the Claire Foy seasons. But i just don't care enough about some family in the UK to keep going with it. Really, i just liked Ms Foy and Matt Smith
However, it's based on actual events. With a fair amount of interpretation concerning what's going on behind the scenes, though.
I found this show intriguing and I will never see the royal family in the same light. I couldn't stand Queen Elizabeth after the rockslide that killed the kids. She was too focused on herself and her image. The London smog episode, another example of how clueless these people are. Once you get really into it, you'll start wondering what good the others in the family are there for, and how much power one family has but no idea wtf is going on, nor what they are doing because they're so wrapped up in each other. Prince Charles did Diana dirty.
You know that The Crown is fiction based on real events right? You can't base your views of the real people on fictional stories!
Load More Replies...Altered Carbon. The show has the an amazing first season, great story, acting, cinematography, sound design, special effects etc. Then the second season feels like they hired writers to just pump out more content. I've never seen a show so good turn so mediocre/boring/bad.
The second series is based on book 3, you could always read book 2, although book/series 1 is definitely the best.
Outlander and A Discovery of Witches. Both went downhill very quickly.
I'm fairly into Outlander but now they've landed in America and I haven't caught up for around 5 months and I don't think I'm interested in it anymore.
I loved seasons 1-3. I think I watched season 4? It just lost the appeal after 3 for me.

Man in the High Castle. I remember asking a friend that had already watched if the non-Nazi characters ever get better about making the least rational decisions. He said no, so I wrapped up whatever episode I was on and never came back to it.
I liked it at first and got my friend hooked but then it got boring for me and my friend says its one of her favourites
I watched Xena: Warrior Princess pretty regularly and it was starting to get ridiculous. There was a moment where Xena uttered the line “No more living for you.” And that was it. I stopped watching and never watched another episode. Now whenever a show just pushes me to quit I refer to it as a “no more living for you” moment.
The worst line ever spoken by an actor was from the first matrix movie (great movie btw). It was when you first see the sentinels and Neo asks what they are. Somebody says "They're killing machines designed for only one thing" (hmmm. Could it be killing? Nope it goes on) "Search and destroy". That's three things broseph. Killing, searching, and destroying. Whoever wrote that line should be ashamed of themselves. "It's a killing machine" that says everything we need to know. Or "It's a machine designed for search and destroy" less dramatic, but more descriptive. Sorry, one been annoyed by this line since 1999.
Load More Replies...Xena was great, when viewed through the lens of nostalgia. But when I rewatched it, I remembered how off the rails that show went.
The future arc thing really ticked me off. I also hated the whole Gabrielle-Rosemary’s-Baby-Hope BS. And don’t get me started on the relationships thing. Was everyone bi? Gay/lesbian? Nobody knew who/what they wanted! I’m all for different relationships, but that show was giving me whiplash. Then there was the whole here’s a really serious episode, and the next one was so far in to camp you wondered if you were watching the same show.
Locke & Key. About halfway through season 2 the whole "villains are demons posessing teenagers' corpses" thing just got creepy, and made the show way less enjoyable. After reading about how the rest of it went, I didn't miss much by quitting there.
Which would have been largely avoided had they just spoken to each other for a bit.

The vampire diaries. Lucifer is a great show though.
Vampire Diaries just tries to hide how teenage-cringy it is by throwing in unnecessary gore. No thanks.
It was soooo popular when i was in elementary/High school that i freakin' decided to watch it now... Yea, no thanks. Barely made it till the end . Avoiding the other show with the ancient vampire family or whatever...
Russian Doll The first season was good, but then random s**t just started happening in S2 and the characters had poor reactions and made dumb, unrealistic decisions. It's possible I didn't understand the season or plot, but I got lost quickly and made me not want to keep track
House of Cards. That last season was cringe.
The British show was great. First season of the US show was also great.
*The Magicians* I thought the main characters in the book were insufferable enough, but somehow the show managed to more than one-up them in that department.
Money Heist. The main character, Tokyo was an insufferable b***h. Had to stop because of her. Literally the worst main character in history.
I watched and enjoyed the first season. Had to look up the title though, I hadn't heard that title before. It was called "The House of Paper" when i watched it. I never got around to season two.
Agree tokyo was awful. But the versions in other countries? I tried one episode. Wtf was the point?
I watched the first season but then I didn't bother with the second. I liked it but there were just too many scenes where they just talked and talked and talked....it just got boring to me.
What about them? Are you adding them to the list?
Load More Replies...Billions. It was never high art but it got pretty brutal when they really leaned into the "celebrity" cameos.
Iron Fist. Boy did that end up sucking hard. Danny Rand is a boring character and I couldn't give less f***s about the rich shareholder siblings with daddy issues. Maybe hate is a strong word, but the Pentaverite is pretty rough. There are a few scenes that made me laugh. It makes me sad that Mike Myers hasn't produced anything funny in a long time.
I liked Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. I mostly liked Dare Devil, but the secondary characters were awful. His annoy self righteous side kick, and the red haired woman who accidentally becomes a legal assistant, then accidentally becomes an ace reporter. She's gorgeous, but not a very good actress. I only saw iron fist in the defenders, but I found him annoying in that, so skipped his show.
Mr. Robot, just seemed to keep spinning its wheels and nothing ever happening (essentially the season before last “reset” progress quite literally). I heard the last season is good but that show just wore me down.
The constant monotonous narration got unbearable after two episodes.
I got half way through season two and lost interest. First season was fantastic though
Wow. I'm a cave dweller. 72 entries and I'd only heard of 10ish of these shows. Whelp, going to go watch Casablanca again. Fade out to creaky knees and another cup of coffee;)
Same here. Apparently I didn't miss much. On a side note, I dislike any show that's a continuing series. I refuse to schedule my life around what time a TV show is on.

A lot of tv suffers from being dragged on beyond its natural life. They maybe have one story in them, and then some exec somewhere is like “that made money, so instead of making something new we just need more of that”.
Maybe we also need a list of shows that we were really miffed when they got cancelled.
Sex and the City.....why did they have to drag it out of retirement? I couldn't watch it, and I was a major fan of the original series!
Fun fact, in the most recent SITC, the lead characters are actually older than the lead characters in the first season of The Golden Girls.
Load More Replies...Seems that USA have about 30 episodes a season uk has only 6 maybe 8. Leads to better writing and more polished storytelling rather than dragging it out over 30 episodes. Don’t get me started on the years they rinse a programme for lol
Seasons of TV shows used to be around 20-25 episodes a season. They are currently around 4-10, which actually doesn't lead to better writing or polished story, it leads to stretching a 2 hour film plot over 8 hours and calling it a tv show.
Load More Replies...Some of the people answering this question didn't understand the assignment: that the show got so bad they DIDNT finish it. A lot of people referencing final seasons, series finales, endings, etc. To answer the question myself, Grey's Anatomy. Haven't watched in years and don't care what I'm missing. Occasionally I'll watch a few eps from the "MAGIC" seasons.
Yellowstone! Cant stand the spoiled s**t beth, they make that guy of hets like he some kinda great "man" but he a bully and a murderer and the whole show is based on rotten people.
Thank you! I made it through the first season thinking maybe the cowboy related stuff would make it worth watching and then by the 2nd season, realized how much I disliked Beth. She made it particularly unwatchable because they turned her into a caricature of an angry vengeful woman. Everything else that was good about that show faded into the background.
Load More Replies...Yeah, it was a definite disappointment, but I ended up warming up to Robert Patrick's character. He had a nice story arc.
