There are a lot of issues in today's society. Addiction to social media, devaluation of workers, unhealthy lifestyles, and that's just a few of them. A lot of us don't even notice these problems; we either ignore them or don't run into them at all. However, artist John Holcroft tackles them head-on and illustrates the issues of today's world in his satirical and honest art.

John has been illustrating since 1996. He works and lives in the UK. His past clients include Guardian, Telegraph, Times, BBC, and many others. John Holcroft's art looks simplistic, but it hides a deep and complicated meaning. It's pretty amazing how he can portray such serious topics with one simple illustration.

Trumpvoters don't get this because Tweety has convinced them that he's the BEST PRESIDENT EVAH, with a mere 180 000 dead Americans on his record, a destroyed economy and burning cities. Thanks to the tremendous way he mismanaged USA Inc.

You must not have read the CDC updates lately on the death tolls. Only 6% of the "COVID deaths" they reported ONLY had COVID listed as cause of death. That means 94% had at least 2 other causes of death listed. The 2020 death rate is only at 8.8, 2019 the death rate was 8.782 which since 2015 has always gone up at least 1.1% as it did this year. He also cannot send federal help to "burning cities" when the state of the "burning city" refuses their federal actions. The state has to allow federal assistance which they normally all deny for many obvious reasons. Your specific arguments against him are invalid.

wish they were sheep. sheep will run from wolves. to the uncompromised, it's obvious, don is as bad as advertised. w/a little research, a person will find, he's worse. it's there. easy enough to see. but unless it's revealed to them in a way they can accept - it's of little concern. some else is always to blame. it's unfair, untrue, or some other myriad of 'shoot the messenger' rationalization. what is so vexing is that these sound thinking, clear-eyed people will admit in their daily lives that they know little about numerous things. they'll admit they are not always right (most mostly), or know enough about plumbing, car repair, tree trimming, etc - but politics? always on the money. their choice is always in the front. to question that is like calling their grandmother a crook. makes them temperamental. indignant. righteous and pious. and all it will do is get you kicked out of granny's out-on-parole party.

Well said. Crystal clear to sane, rational people, he's the least suitable type of person to not only be president, but to be a leader in any capacity. I fear americans will once again not show up to vote and allow the objectively wrong person to be elected again.

We have lost the concept of free speech. It's a shame that only the loudest voices are free. History is full of these examples of speech repression. As people that have grown up being free, we should stand up for everyone's right to express our opinion. I remember the saying; I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (A friend of Voiltare). Thank you for a great pic.

We got hold of John to ask him some questions about his art: "I started illustrating professionally in 1996, originally studying graphic design in the early '90s, but the recession made it impossible to find work especially as technology was going through a big change. I decided to illustrate using acrylics on board, which changed to digital in 2000. Having created a few different styles, I settled on my current style in 2010 and have been progressing ever since. I get my inspiration from observing life in general. I’ve always been an odd-ball and seen things differently so I think it shows in my work," said John when asked what inspires him to create and when he started to create art.

John shares what issues in today's world he is most passionate about: "I’m not more passionate about issues than anyone else; however, I don’t like injustices of any kind so I usually focus my concepts on the things most people care about, such as corporate greed, climate change, and politics. If I had the power to change the world I would try to put an end to corrupt governments and corporate giants having control. I would make sure money is put in the right places, i.e.: tackling climate change and I would have a fairer system that cares for ordinary people."

If I had to describe Trump in one word, it would be "corrupt". Forget about his policies. We can agree or disagree with those and fix them later. He's corrupt and is trying to remove democracy because he doesn't care about it, which will not end any better for conservatives or Republicans than for others.

The truth is that planting a sapling doesn't replace the carbon locked in a mature tree. The truth is Trump abandoned the Paris Agreement that sets out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. It also aims to strengthen countries' ability to deal with the impacts of climate change and support them in their efforts.

Exactly, this is precisely the reason left leaning advocates for change want central government to step in, because individuals will not, the market is always working against them. You need to change the way the market functions.

This is true, even adults become depressed from pressures of social media or what they see on other's accounts. The pressure to uphold the same "fun and glamorous life" they see can take a toll. You should look, but never compare. Everyone is on their own path. The secret is that there is very little of real value the US can do, outside of establishing a dictatorship over the world to stop the degradation of critical biomass. Throwing money at corrupt governments to "pwetty pweese no polluty" is wasted. Many countries do not have the luxury or will to worry about the environment. They simply want to survive. So in the US we do theater about the environment. We ban straws, we "recycle". We buy electric cars whose batteries cause environmental nightmares in other countries, use windmills that kill hundreds of thousands of endangered birds and bats each year, use dams which are depopulating our rivers of migratory fish...

Instead the US just does nothing and is the only 'advanced' country to abandon the Paris Climate agreement even though they have the 2nd highest percentage of green house gases for ratification. Not to mention a leader that still thinks its fake and spreads that message to naive people.

This is the reason most people do not support the climate change agreements. None of it does anything to help the planet and it serves to only further tax people just for breathing out. Apparently the wealthy are not wealthy enough.

It's a lot easier to make than that. Only 3% of money exists in a physical form. The rest is just numbers on computers. It only has any value when we say it does. We could very easily take care of everyone and the whole world if we threw out the concept of money.

No, scientific research is very different from what is portrayed here. Some president may say it's something like "Hey, let's try ingesting disinfectants and if that doesn't work we could try some light therapy." , but than, that president isn't the Jenius he says he is.

Well the illustration is quite on point. The researchers have narrowed the field and established the rules we know in the form of dart board, . (otherwise we will be shooting into space like some President)from then on its try, trial , error and repeat until we get it right. I.e the Bullseye .

I quite enjoy working form home. More time with my wife. More time to do chores. Less stressful commutes. I feel a little disconnected at times and there are definitely some tasks that were easier in an office, but more up sides than down. I'm lucky to live with someone I get on with though.

Obviously many of the yay sayers have no kids to homeschool from different schools and grades. Kids are climbing the walls for physical and social stimulation and I'm climbing the walls trying to keep everyone from going crazy....including myself. Not enough computers for 4 kids to homeschool and 2 adults to work from home, not to mention the major delays cause everyone has technical problems throughout the day. And how do you get a quiet room for all household members when everyone has a video meeting at the same time?! Yes I imagine social isolation is great...if you are single and childless.

Isolation means different things to different people. For some of us, social distancing is a blessed relief because it means less people to make your life hell and now it is illegal for people to get TOO close to you. For someone like me who loves their own space, this feels like a gift from the universe. Could do without the masks and scaremongering though.

I live alone and I enjoyed every second of working from home. The social isolation hasn't bothered me at all. I discovered new hobbies for myself, I enjoyed the peaceful environment. I worked much more productive at home than in my company because I could stay focused without any interruptions from other people. I still got to talk to people that are important to me over Videochat and I wasn't forced to deal with annoying, stupid people who just complain all day. Overall I loved working from home!

Microaggressions are generally considered unintended expressions of bigotry that the person speaking is likely not even aware of. They may assume they are prejudice free. Why wouldn't you want to know you are pissing people off unintentionally? It's not a new concept, it is called being polite.

That's the front door. But many people leave the windows and backdoor open while they announce on Twitter that they won't be home for the coming 7 days.

It is actually about Internet Security - setting of passwords and the like. Most people have very simple passwords.

@WilvanderHeijden please don't look down upon people for making mistakes in a field that they're experienced in when you don't even know how email works.

@WilvanderHeijden) just stop. Most of the time it looks true and even when you click on the link or ask for more details, it STILL looks safe. so no, that strategy doesn't all ways work

If you use your brains and check if what the email claims is true, you are safe.

I am highly trained by my company to spot fraud and phishing attempts. I consider myself very aware and still someone managed to get me to click a scam email. It was an image with a link, hidden as an ordinary email from a known sender. So the actual email text appeared to be a picture. It's a bit harsh to say you're always safe if you just use your brains. The scams get more and more advanced.

Yup, and it's why the lockdown was a mistake. Much better would be to spend 1/4 the money to protect the vulnerable and let the rest of us with a 99+% chance of survival develop herd immunity.

If you let your kids use phones and tablets as much as they want, then don't be surprised they would grow up incompetent.

the retirement age keeps getting higher and higher til it will reach a point where no one will retire before they die and maybe thats the point so they don't have to pay out that much(if at all) of your pension.

change the way economics works, change the game and its rules. don't equate growth to production only, but uplift the conditions of all under served ones with the money previously gathered, and let people discover ways of make their needs met, and put an intelligent diverse think tank to find ways to undo, replace and transition from present way of doing everything to another without minimum hassle

You literally didn't address the question in any way. You just want a system that's never existed in history and never will because of human nature. It's like the people Who are against hierarchies, yet every protest group as leaders and hierarchies. The ignorance is breathtaking

Let people go back to work. CDC just released that the virus isn't anything near as bad as what they said to get the lock downs to happen to start with.
