Before you set out on a mission to browse the attic for the same Halloween decoration props you reuse every year and pretend they're still as good as in 2015, let me tell you something. The world has changed. Things got a whole lot more scary this year. And from what we’ve seen happening in 2020 so far, the Jack-o'-lantern ain’t gonna do much in the spooky department.
That’s why people are taking Halloween decorating to a whole new level. Remember the iconic “this is fine” meme from KC Green’s 2013 webcomic “On Fire” that has been surfing all over the internet lately? Apparently, someone just turned their house into the meme for Halloween. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Below, we compiled some of the most relevant, painfully funny, and plain damn spooky Halloween decoration ideas from creative people nailing the haunted night. I mean, this year has been like one big Halloween night, so we had a lot of time to master the bad and the ugly.

To find out more about Halloween decor trends this year, Bored Panda reached out to Miranda Enzor, a Halloween lover and writer who runs the blog “Spooky Little Halloween.”
Miranda said that this year, like every year, current events are a popular choice for Halloween decor. The coronavirus becoming one of the key themes shouldn’t come as a surprise. “People see it as a way to weave a bit of commentary or humor into an otherwise difficult situation,” Miranda explained.

For The First Time, I Decorated For Halloween!
Among other Halloween decor trends, recycling and reusing the materials you already have is always a big one. Some people are even happy to mix up Christmas and Halloween decorations. “The small ceramic tree that was so popular in 2019 and returned in 2020 is a perfect example. I think Halloween lovers enjoy the chance to Halloweenify decor from other holidays and make it their own.”
Miranda said that the essence of Halloween decorations is about combining spooky and silly. “Depending on how you celebrate it, Halloween can be a lighthearted, fun, and even silly holiday. I like seeing people have fun with their decor in this way,” the writer concluded.

Love the creativity in all of them, but really, Trump/Biden/voting halloween decorations? Maybe they're awesome to US citizens, but as a non US citizen I don't like them at all. Everything is about the elections already, can't we just have Halloween as it is?
I'm American, and regardless of which party it's for, political Halloween decorations annoy me. I just want to enjoy my Halloween without it being politicized.
Load More Replies...We are 'the cool house'. we will not mention Covid for Halloween. Or the election. We're going to have our fake skeletons dressed in silly hats at a "tea party" with the punch bowl filled with dry ice, and the other figures dressed for an old rave with glowsticks. Why? Because why we're the 'cool scary" house... this year we need to be not scaring anyone. Just no. Too much else to scare them.
for halloween i put up the stick thingies from the berlin witch projectt
If the theme of Halloween in America is "scary" (as it is in the UK) then why do people dress up as Mickey Mouse, astronauts, rabbits, cowgirls, and princesses?
There are many children and adults that are not down with scary. Also sometimes religion dictates that they wear non scary costumes. My first year in a new city, I took my children to my son's football coach's church for Halloween. He was the youth pastor and they called it a fall festival. It was done very nicely for children and youths and their were 11 short stories that coinsided with the name of a kind of candy, they listened to the story and got the candy. They also had grab bags, punch, snacks, and treats in a common area while they were there. It was pretty nice fun for them, the only hitch was no scary costumes.
Load More Replies...America put a lotttt of effort into Halloween. In Britain, kids get a few haribo if they're lucky enough to stumble upon an abode that can be arsed opening the door. I suppose its scarier in Britain though (from memory) because most of the time youre knocking on doors with no decorations, no lights and the genuine fear you may never return.
That sounds crazy sad. I hate that for the children there. The kids here in the US do love their Halloween and adults as well. My kids are grown now but my daughter and her husband live in a subdivision and I love to sit outside with them on Halloween and give candy. People even bring their babies (less than a year old) dressed up as well. The seemingly endless Spook Parade is one of my all time favorite things every year. Before my kids were old enough to go we would take turns with our family and gather the little ones and make small homemade individual pizzas that the kids get to put on the toppings themselves, have ice cream, popcorn, and a few cheap Halloweeen party toys age appropriate and watch disney halloween cartoons, Hocus Pocus, etc and make sure the little ones enjoyed the night. Just lots of fun. I know Covid has put a damper on some festivities but there's so many small things that kids would love to do also.
Load More Replies...I just don’t get it! Why spend time and money on this? It’s pointless. If you have so much spare money and time, support and volunteer for a charity. And FYI, Most children don’t enjoy it.
It may be something lost in cultural ‘translation’ but why go to all this expense and trouble? I just don’t get it. And it’s not only the time and money - can this stuff be recycled? Don’t understand this stuff at all.
Hey, so, realistic human/body decorations? Don’t. You get the police called all the time because there are corpses on your lawn, and then this results in people not realizing when there’s a REAL dead body hanging from a tree. Which has happened several times.
