We're all about fair pay. But we're also aware of greedy companies exploiting people and cutting corners wherever they can for maximum profit. And while it's ridiculous to pay $5 for a T-shirt, as there's no way in which it could have been made ethically, it's also absurd to pay $140 for insulin in the US.

And it's not just companies selling products. In the last 3 years, rents have increased by 2.61% on average per year, which is 169% faster than the real average wage in the US. Also, in the last decade, rent inflation outpaced currency inflation by 40.7%. And it feels like we can do nothing but watch. One Reddit user, Coach_Carter_on_DVD, asked people what things are so overpriced, it sounds (and in most cases should be) illegal. The users were eager to vent about the most insanely expensive things, with prices that have no explanation but disgusting greed.

Over 21.2k comments later, Bored Panda selected the most popular responses on this topic. And even though they're infuriating, we hope that they can also serve some educational purpose. Maybe you've been paying this insane amount of money without ever thinking about how unfair it is, or maybe they will encourage you to take action, vote for politicians who are doing something about the cause, and look for cheaper and more ethical alternatives. Either way, don't forget to upvote your favorites, and be sure to share anything infuriatingly overpriced that we missed on this list!

My diabetic medication is free. In fact if you have diabetes in the UK all prescriptions for any illness is free.

There are multiple situations that mean you get free prescriptions in the UK - genuine need is the best of them (either by illness, being on benefits so low income, older age, under 16, pregnant etc). Free prescriptions in the devolved nations have only caused a knock on effect for other NHS services in those nations (and the NHS is struggling generally thanks to low Tory financial input which has decreased in real terms over 12 years). It also hasn't at all solved the problem it aimed to deal with which was entirely due to the low uptake of medicines amongst poorer people. The take up has remained low. It was never about reducing costs by providing free to only some people. There is also a Prepayment Certificate which is also only : £30.25 for 3 months £108.10 for 12 months and as many drugs as you want!!

This has always shocked me. The person who invented it didn't claim a patent so humanity can benefit from it for free or at least affordably. Insulin and its accessories (pen and spare needles) are free in the EU

Curiously the inventor never patented it explicitly so that people could afford it - which seems to work nearly everywhere in the world but the US.

When my mom died I didn’t do a funeral. I had a get together lunch at a very nice hotel where they did the food and everything. We celebrated her. The only people there were the ones invited because I only wanted to have those closest and I was willing to be with on that day. I did up the funeral cards I got from the funeral home and in the card I wrote specifically what each person/couple meant to her. I also put in a picture of her I took when we were in Hawaii where she is sitting at our table raising her glass of wine in a toast towards the camera. Every single person thought it was so much better than a funeral. Cost way less too. She was cremated.

We did a similar thing with my dad, he didn't want a funeral because of the cost. He was cremated and had a small life insurance plan that covered all the costs of the cremation. We had the celebration at a local fire hall which didn't even charge us a rental fee because of the reason we were renting it. Everyone brought a dish to pass and my nieces did a really nice picture montage rotating on the wall. People got up and talked about their memories of my dad. It was really nice and all in cost about $500.00

A shift towards death positivity can really help here. If the taboo and discomfort concerning the only certain thing in one's life would ease up, people would be perhaps more open to explore some of the many wonderful, far less expensive alternatives to cutting down trees only to bury them in the ground as boxes filled with organic matter that remains inaccessible to the other non-human life it could sustain and toxic chemicals that eventually leach into the water table. Or cutting down trees only to burn them as pyres or polluting the air through cremation. My hope is give back at least some of what I took to live, that my remains go for spare parts and the rest as compost.

Someone Asks People "What Is Criminally Overpriced?" And Here's 35 Insightful Answers Human pharmaceuticals. My dog needed a chelation medication that my vet specifically said was on the pricy side but recommended a pharmacy that she worked with. I called with prescription in hand, and they quoted $3,000+ for a month’s supply. Then the rep stated they accidentally read the cost for humans. Dog cost was actually $60. Same dosage, same pill count, but adding chicken flavor and putting a little dog on the label dropped the price 98%.

That whole 'my new pronouns' schtick where someone picks 2 words that arent even pronouns is really not nice. Whether that person is being intentionally cruel or not, its basically making fun of people whose pronouns have changed. Like they arent already dealing with enough c**p from people who are ununderstanding or downright bullies about who they are, now it's become a punchline. Its rude an insensitive, imo, and I wish people would stop it.

Former vet tech and former pharmacy tech here, while yes animal medications are cheaper, and they seem to be exactly the same, they are not. For veterinary medications, the quality standard is a bit lower so more bug parts and other contaminants are allowed in veterinary medications than are allowed in human medication. So if you're ok with a whole spider being allowed in the medication, go ahead and get the veterinary meds.

I have the exact same Lupus. I refuse to take the medication although in Australia it costs less than $30 per prescription, thanks to Australia's "Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme ". Prescription drugs are subsidised by the government. What I do instead is take liquid "Olive Leaf Extract " every morning. My itchy attacks as I call them have dropped by 95%. I still use the Advantan ointment when I do get the itchy attacks though. I hope this helps.

Pharmaceuticals companies are crooks. They have the cure for all diseases but choose not to give it because they can't make a profit off of it. They over price all needed medications but give out narcan to drug addicts for free. Diabetics shouldn't have to choose between buying groceries for the month or buying insulin. It's just ridiculous! Also pet medicine is just the same as our medicine just a smaller dosage but they're extremely high priced

Pink Tax! Look at woman's razors vs men's. I just buy my lady her own men's razor to use and she said she got a better shave. Her original woman's razor has 4 blades, mine has 6 and her's was about 1/3 more expensive than mine. So now she has her own handle as do I and we just double up on the blades. We go through DSC and it's much cheaper... for both of us.

Nobody thinks about it being such a need because it's hard to ask about when you need some. You can buy ones like these on Amazon! I've bought about 4 packs of 6 over the past few years. I've saved hundreds $$ on period products with these. Only downside is the washing part--you either have to presoak them before washing them with other clothes or just run a wash cycle with the pads only. Still one of the best things I've ever bought. I recommended them to a friend who has sensitive skin (like to chemicals they put in pads) and she uses them now. She bought some for her mom who has light incontinence and she also loves them.

I used to work in the industry. At one time, HP ink was $5,300 a litre. There was another printer (I think an Epson) that used 2% of its ink EVERY TIME IT WAS SWITCHED ON to clean the heads. We told people to never switch them off.

Epson also had a reservoir that filled up eventually on this 2% ink and when it filled, the printer would shut down. No easy way to empty it either. So pay someone to do it or buy a new one. Rip off. And don't get anyone started on the chips that won't allow refills or off brand carts. Greed! Pure GREED!

This is a fairly complex topic. To solve the clogging and permanence issues, 10 years ago, HP spent over a $billion developing an improved ink. That cost must be amortized and they didn't increase the price of cartridges with the improved ink. The Epson uses pigment (paint) inks because they were preferred by photographers for permanence. The dye based inks from Canon and HP are now superior to the pigment inks in every way but photographers fight change so a limited number of printers still use pigment inks.

I always bring a fold up empty water bottle and fill up with drinking water after security, every airport I've been to either has a designated free water station or shops will happily fill it up for me. Plus always handy to have with you when travelling out of the airport too!

You're paying for convenience. That's the reason buying items like milk at a gas station can cost $5.00 when it's only $2 at the grocery store.

It's been a while since I was a projectionist, but at that time, 100% of the box office went to the distributor for the first two weeks. After that, the house started making money, in percentage increments. Any money made in the first two weeks came from concessions.

Just depends on who the people vote for. Where I live we tend to vote for people who are pretty decent and honest. The Republican running for Senate tried to make a big deal out of our Democratic Senator taking about $2 million over 30+ years in office. That's a drop in the bucket compared to a lot of those folks.

The Citizens United decision in 2010 basically guaranteed this outcome. The amount of money spent in the last midterm elections was obscene, and much of it was dark money. One of the worst Supreme Court decisions in the last 100 years.

The Citizens United decision allows billionaires and corporations to unfairly influence legislation. It's also being used to contribute towards lobbying the Supreme Court when it takes up allowing state legislators to replace the federal govt in setting the rules for an election. Over 90 million so far. If they rule in favor of that, then not trying to be dramatic, it will be the end of Democracy in this country. They didn't hesitate to overturn 50 years of settled law when it came to Roe v Wade, and I doubt they're gonna stop there.

As a professor, I spent about five minutes explaining the significance of Obama's election and his first two years. I then announced that there was no longer any need to buy the 10th edition at $125 and that we'd be using the 8th edition, available online for as little as 18 cents, plus $2.99 for shipping. My students liked me.

Yeah, but otherwise you you might not get the access code needed for the book (if you rent vs buy a Kindle or similar version, that is). Those are only good for the first time user. Without a working access code, you miss a lot of important material.

...I used to go to a big name bookstore and spend hours reading books. I'd scamper around and bring back oodles of books--fun reads, SAT prep, college books... And after a while I'd put a lot of them back, except the college books. I'd stuff them in my bag. Then I'd take a jaunt to a place that bought books. I sold these pristine books to a place that sold them students for half the price. Then I'd run off and get myself food. I was young, hungry, desperate, and goddamnit I hope someone got a better education for it.

One of my professors taught world history. On his syllabus we had to purchase two books. One on world history and the other entitles The influence of cattle in India on world Economics and Trade. You may notice that second book has nothing to do with world history. It also cost over $200 for a paperback that was under 200 pages. While required we never once opened it, discussed anything in the book, nor was anything in the book on any test. But, the author just so happened to he that same professor. Basically he wrote a book about a topic other than what he was a professor in, labeled it a college textbook, made his students buy it, and didn't even have the decency to use it in his class.

Nimbyism means I always have homeless people in front of my house because there is a ravine....you just cause the people to sleep near your house in vans, vacant lots, parks and ravines, and have to worry about your children in your own neighborhood because there are desperate people, possibly doing drugs. Social housing makes every neighborhood safer.

Untrue. American dentistry is a whole different universe than what I've seen in my travels around the world. American dentists are incredible. Your teeth will be healthy AND beautiful. That is what you pay for. You absolutely have the option to pay lower cost like the rest of the world. Its just that the rest of the world's standard offering isn't generally acceptable to Americans. It's pain mitigation with no cosmetic consideration. You can do that in America. You choose not to.

According to Hitched.co.uk, the average cost of a wedding in the UK is £17,300. This is excluding the honeymoon, which can add a few thousand to the bill. So, basically, marriages begin with unnecessary debt.

Nice dress, nice suit, couple friends or family members, and a trip to the courthouse is all you need. I was never one of those little girls who drooled over Brides Magazine, and actually liked the idea of eloping. To me, the marriage is the important part, not the wedding. When planning my own marriage, I kept it simple and got married at the local courthouse. In May 2023, we will celebrate 22 years together. How long do most people who have the most ridiculously expensive weddings stay together?

I don't know why people chose to spend so much though when they can't afford it. We did ours for £2k. We cut costs by asking a couple of guests with half decent cameras to do the photos, bought bigass Colin the Caterpillar wedding cakes (yes they exist) and hired an ice cream van to come to the reception venue and serve some ice cream for dessert after the buffet. No frills but still one of the best days of our lives without going into major debt.

My wife and I got married while we were in the Army Reserve (noted only because it meant we had a minister in the unit). The unit chaplain did the ceremony; his assistant and the chaplain's wife were the witnesses. After that, we went out for Chinese food. Total cost

I don't understand weddings. I really just don't. I'd rather just go to a nice, simple little place and get married to my partner there. No family, no horribly priced things, no Christian guy telling us what to do and say. Just me and my partner in a nice little spot.

The reason for this is solely the fault of the customer. I worked as an assistant to a wedding DJ during college. He was a phenomenal DJ, but because it was not his primary source of income, he charged less than the prevailing rate at the time. He eventually raised his rate because so many people told him they hired a more expensive DJ, simply because they assumed the more expensive DJ was better because they charged more. No one wants to look cheap on their wedding day.

It isn't the lenses that are pricey, it's the prescription lenses. Anti-glare, anti-scratch, transitions lenses, bi-focal, etc. Before you know the glasses cost anywhere from $300-$500.

Completely agree. You need your pupillary distance but once you have that your access to cheaper glasses is never ending! My husband's prescription went from £400 to £40 - he has a complicated prescription and never had a problem with them providing high quality glasses. Light-reacting varifocals as well!

Zenni. Check out their website. After being told about it and using it, I'm saving 70% from what I was paying. 90 dollar pair of glasses that cost me 300 in the past. I don't use designer frames either. My eyes are just terrible.

Once I realized the reason my eyeglasses were so damn expensive (approx. $700-900) was because I was purposely being sold over priced frames, I was shocked. I bought a pair with my current prescription from zenni optical for around $100, that includes the frames, anti-glare lenses and my strong perscription.

Most reputable frame shops have a bin with the less expensive frames. But, you have to ask or they'll steer you over to the designer frames.

Zenni frames start at $7. I'm a - 6 (thiccc). I will never go back to $300 a pair AND the lenses were still thick. I stick to thicker, full frames which does help disguise that and just get the basic (FREE) lenses!

In ireland we get a free eye test every 2 years I think, covered by our prsi (tax payments). Some opticians do a range of free glasses to the value of €80 including free lenses, again covered by tax. They aren't the series frames in the shop but if you're stuck they work and if you look around you can find decent looking ones. If you want to go premium then that's up to you

Epi-pens in the U.S. I mean, at least it's not something I need to use regularly, but those things are SO expensive. I'm just trying to not die if I accidentally eat a peanut. Thankfully I found a much cheaper alternative, but they're hiking their prices now too.

In the US, AUVI-Q is an epinephrine injector that is superior to Epi-pen in that the shape is better (closer to a cigarette box, so fits nicely in a pocket), it has audio instructions, and it's low cost without insurance ($27, I think it was) or free with insurance. There is an alternative to EpiPen! It comes in adult and children dosages, as well.

One of the problems is that so many of the government mandates require the hiring of additional staff to manage. That and deans feel the need for assistant deans and assistant deans need assistants, because there is just SO much work involved. Now at Arizona State University, there are 55,000 students, so a certain amount of bureaucracy is necessary. There are whole towns smaller.

I graduated from college in 1980. The total tuition for all four years was under $5,000. Now I'm in graduate school to become a clinical mental health counselor, and the tuition for only 3 years is $65,000. We desperately need more mental health professionals in the US, but the cost of the required education is prohibitive. Whenever there's another mass shooting, the Republicans are cry, "Mental health!" But the very thought of the government forgiving those debts, or even paying the tuition outright, is absolute anathema to them.

As a father with limited means, the biggest scam I found in higher ed was when my daughter's tuition funds were released by gov't, the college said they were not "available" for about 30 days...just about enough time to do a short term investment. Mind you, this is not the University's money, it is the student's proceeds from loans.

This brings us back to the cost of being poor: if you don't have the money to buy an expensive, well-made suitcase, you have to buy cheap ones over and over again.

Theres some dumb responses here. Its an item thatbianover priced and the reaponses are 'if you tele care of it, it eill last 25 years'. Yeah if you dont travel. These things are tossed around, dropped, wedged and neglected by the perople that dont own them.. You have little to do with how its treated when in use.

Huge unnecessary markup on a product that's too cheap on the wholesale side. I remember years ago showing a Hartmann combination suitcase and laptop bag to a guy that ran a cut and sew shop in China. Retail was ~$300. He gave it a look and quoted us $8 wholesale.

I got a good Samsonite. Mildly spendy but not 'designer name' spendy. It lasted for years and is still mechanically sound but became worthless when TSA change the rules about what kind of locks can be on suitcases. (It has non TSA combo lock and key locks on the closure levers). Sigh. Had to buy a different suitcase for a major trip in 2016. That one at least I think I can still use next time I travel by air.

Just came back from a 6 week trip, replaced 3 brand new suitcases as each one broke consecutively on the trip. All $100+ and all reputable brands, airlines just tore them apart.

There was an advertisement (early 20th century) showing the original Samsonite luggage... With all four brothers standing on top of it. For that kind of quality, it only is fair.

My Opa gave me his suitcase from the 1960's and it still works perfectly. I only needed to attach a hard plastic sheet inside to make the internal space a bit tighter to keep my stuff as compact as possible to stop everything from moving around during my travels. And because everyone has all these fancy, new suitcases, my suitcase stands out like a clown's nose, so I can spot mine from a kilometer away! 😂

I've bought roller suitcases for less than 70$ Cdn and they lasted years of business travel (I had two, so the key things would always be ready in case I did not have time to completely unpack and repack between trips). Sometimes I thought to get something newer, and noticed prices seemed to always be going down.

Imagine how much of the federal budget is wasted on software licenses. I hate Adobe. I had to export ONE FILE, so I downloaded a free trial and accidentally got myself into a $200 contract. They were not very flexible on it. Plus, they seem to have a near-monopoly on certain graphic design options, like converting and exporting a CMYK color profile.

I was a graphic artist and worked for years to afford my own copies of PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign. Then I had a hard drive crash and there was no way to re-install. I finally gave up and went to Affinity Design for the vector and Adobe's Photoshop Elements for the rest. Still annoyed that all my investment just went up in smoke as they went to the subscription and no longer supported my licenses.

There are plenty of free options. Forget photos hop and go with Gimp. When I was in HS, before they went subscription based, my computer teacher had this binder with business level software. He was my basketball/baseball coach so if we had a late practice he would let me stay in the computer lab after school. I was also his community service student so I had access to his personal office. I also had an actual class with him for first period. So, I would take a download CD home with me, rip it on my computer, download the program on my comp, bring the original back the next morning, and then pass the ripped CD around to my whole class. Everyone in my class had thousands, maybe tens of thousands of top of the line computer programs. Photoshop, Dream Weave, Microsoft office for business, etc. I probably could have made hundreds of dollars by burning multiple cds and selling them to people. This was also before they needed unique codes for every download.

As an MD, can I just say that the drug mentioned is most often used for NHLs (Non Hodgkin Lymphomas) and I know this b/c it's the drug for my husbands very rare form of an NHL. I've otherwise only seen/heard of its use in autoimmune disease. They know they have us by the wallet, b/c it's Rituxan (brand name) or death. It's also used sometimes in CKD (chronic kidney disease), but given it's possible effects on kidneys for cancer patients, I have no idea why, as an MD. Peace.

Optician here - there are many cheaper alternatives to the big "L." In the US at least, you're legally entitled to a copy of your prescription. Ask for your PD measurement as well. Whatever you buy, it's best if your eyes are as close to centered in the frame as possible, especially if you have a higher prescription.

I opted for diaper service. Much healthier for the baby; never had an instance of diaper rash. Environmentally friendly and cost/time savings for me. In our area, the service is not much more than purchasing disposable diapers. I am aware that sometimes a "little bit more" is not affordable to many people and yes I was fortunate.

... if the ones meant for children already get you upset, have a look into adults' versions - many of them aren't even meant to make it through one night. Depending on brand and capacity, the prices vary between 50 cent each and about 2 € each, with a lot of wellknown and reliabe brands - Tena, Molicare - around 1€ each ... and worth it, for sure!

Agree. And while this might sound strange, I actually used to save a ton of diapers just putting my babes over the potty when I knew she needed to go. It's pretty predictable when they are newborns (I breastfed), like two minutes after and eventually I got to know when she needed to go. Obviously it's not a perfect science but it's been done this way for a long time in many places across the world.

What's the point of health insurance that hardly pays for anything? I cancelled my insurance 20 years ago and moved to South Asia, where health care is affordable. I couldn't afford to live in the US again even if I wanted to. I was an insurance adjuster for Blue Cross several decades ago, and back then the denial of coverage wasn't even remotely as bad it is today. They thought I was good at my job because I was fast, but the surprising thing is that I was never reprimanded for allowing charges that were considered borderline although I did it as much as I possibly could. That would sure never be the case now. I wouldn't have stayed in the job if I'd had someone standing over me telling me I had to deny, deny, deny.

Truth! Our premiums add up to almost $1500 a month for 2 people. We have a $7000 deductible per year EACH which means They pay nothing until we each spend $7000. But wait! Your doctor isn’t ‘in network’ so what you pay him won’t go towards the deductible and that major surgery you need to repair ribs that have separated from your sternum isn’t covered because we only cover treatments for 4 dislocated ribs - not 3… for reasons. Literally don’t understand why I keep giving them all our money.

On a small scale? Hummus. Seems like everywhere in the US, a small tub of hummus is like $5 or more and marketed like it's some kind of exotic, bougie foreign condiment. Dude, hummus costs nothing to make, I would almost wager it's cheaper to make than ketchup. And it takes almost no time. You pretty much throw s**t in a blender and you're done. I had some friends over, and one of my friends didn't believe me. I walked into the kitchen and 10 mins later walked out with a massive bowl of hummus that just about everyone agreed was the best hummus they'd ever had (because they'd only ever had storebought c**p). It's super cheap, super easy, and I promise you, your homemade hummus will likely taste better than that Sabra b******t.

Not the cheapest, but Sleep Number or other inflated mattresses don’t have springs to wear down and sag. Springs are the parts that wear, so eliminate them. Used to be able to flip a mattress head to toe and also bottom to top. Now like a lot of couch cushions only one side is finished. Cutting your wear in half. I have a couple Sleep Numbers pushing 20 years with no issues. (Or leaks) Even the 3 foot tall cheap Amazon inflatables give you your money's worth.

The only thing that’s changes is the mattress protector and the linen. Probably why breast milk is the best milk. It has so many more health benefits for the child. But not every woman can breast feed, so it's understandable to have other options. Just don't keep breastfeeding children into grade school, there's gotta be a limit.

Wow that's shaming. Some women cannot breast feed. They need formula to feed their child cannot find formula and if they do it's over priced. and here you are with "it's the best milk anyway because, what, they never tried or considered breast feeding? Glad it (seems) to have worked out for you but again doesn't mean it is that easy for other mothers. Stop and really think about what the post said- they cannot find formula to feed. It's over priced.

it is healthier and free. However, there are so many reasons a woman can’t or shouldn’t breast feed. Maybe she doesn’t make enough milk and needs to supplement, maybe (as in my case years ago) she had to go off certain meds while pregnant and needs back on them asap that could affect baby. Maybe there are other medical reasons or maybe she doesn’t have the support to do so. Maybe baby is sick and needs certain supplements that can’t always be fulfilled by breast milk (although rare). You are absolutely correct that in the majority of cases it’s healthier but there are lots and lots of exceptions.

People these days are stuck in the mindset that they need two adults working (even though after the childcare costs and admitted formula and diaper costs as noted above typically one person is working for hardly any actual income after the fact) because that’s how we “empower” women. Forcing them to leave their babies at 6-8 weeks old and then depend on some half wits who they barely know. Many women are tricked into believing this is the normal and standard. It’s also a major cause of postpartum depression. People need to understand that there’s a lot of value in being a stay at home parent and not having a two income household can actually be tremendously beneficial for some people if done correctly.

Is it expensive? Absolutely. Is it overpriced? No. You are paying someone else to watch your child. They have to make enough from that to 1) maintain a clean and safe facility 2) keep up on their CPR/First Aid/early childhood development/ recognizing and responding to signs of abuse trainings 3) have enough left over to actually live off of and to be worth be screamed at, spit up on, and sneezed on all day. Childcare is not affordable. That does not mean it is overpriced.

It's not priced that way because it costs that much to refine it, or bring it to consumers, it is priced high because someone is willing (must) pay that much. That was my point...not a conspiracy theory or whatever Bacon Bit thinks I am talking about.

    Gas price - adjusted for inflation - has actually been slowly declining for the past 45 years or so. Average U.S. price right now is $3.178. In 1978 it was $4.11 (inflation adjusted to 2022 ). This summer average price was somewhere over $5/gallon, so yeah that was 25% or so higher than the norm. Considering how useful a gallon of gas is, and how much trouble it is to drill and distribute, and how much environmental destruction it causes (which isn't figured into the gas prize at all, but we pay in other ways), gas is actually a hell of a deal at the pump. B.H.: ... Thanks! ... Anything that can move 2 tons/tonnes 40 km (25mi) is worth more than what we are currently paying. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Anyone who buys bottled water can't complain about the price of petrol/gasoline (gasoline should cost A LOT MORE than water). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Even with price gouging by oil companies, the price of petroleum is a bargain. When most of it is burned up 50 years from now people will refer to 2022 as the good old days.

Believe me, I have contacted EVERY Rep, Sen, both parties and asked why profits for big oil are record breaking. It is no longer high priced crude at that point, driving price. Also why a county 30 miles away can have a price .30/gal cheaper than us....every time. A commodity is a commodity right?

In Alberta we have enormous amounts of oil and natural gas but because of Canadian and u.s federal policies we can’t get them to market to help lower the cost.

My neighbourhood organizes 'recycling santa'. In the afternoon you bring old toys that can be used again and you get points in return based on the size and condition of the toy. In the evening you get to spend your points and pick up some toys. People usually donate more than they pick up, so there's a lot left over that gets donated to charity. I got my daughter some board games and books in return for toys that were just taking up space in the closet. She doesnt notice or mind that the toys have been played with before.

I got an advert for a Barbie Dream House the other day so checked it out of curiosity (my barbies had a cardboard house when I was a kid). It's £250... and it's so little plastic. You get barely anything. Insane. Could literally go on holiday for that much. Yes, okay, 20% of that is VAT (sales tax), but come on? £250...

Bonds Australia. A brand once known for granny undies but well made. A staple for many. A great employer of Australian women. Underwent a brand resurgence. Became popular. Manufacting sent offshore as they could 'not remain competitive with higher production costs.' Sent offshore. Retail prices tripled. Life in a nutshell.

There’s a reason why you rarely see Norwegian out partying before midnight. Alcohol in Norway is ridiculously expensive, so everyone gathers at a friends house and drink in excess until we’re good and drunk, then you spend the night dancing until you’ve sobered up and can go home.

OMG, you are SO right! I became gluten intolerant after menopause (epigenetics is a thing, people), and it’s taken me a few years to find decent bread (but can’t eat it unless it’s at least lightly toasted, otherwise it’s gummy, like all GF breads) and other bakery substitutes that don’t taste like cardboard s**t or have a weird texture or aftertaste. Not to mention that things like GF bread are also tiny. The loaves are only a little bigger than those tiny loaves of bread you find at the deli that are meant for tiny party sandwiches. Eating out sucks, because wheat flour is used on practically EVERYTHING! But I’d rather do without regular bread and fried chicken and all, because the effects of “being glutened” are so very much worse, and last for days.

Oh yessss. I tend to buy lots of healthy vegetables, then when I am hungry I will eat "the good stuff" first...like chips and nachos, so the lettuce can 'age' (read rot). I learned to buy the live boston stuff. I've had a head alive for much longer then I care to admit in my fridge. Now it just feels wrong to eat her (Hedda), since Heddas been part of the family for so long now....
