Ha! My husband doesn't care for my favorite British comedies because he can't understand them. Not the humor, their accents! They are speaking English FFS and he is not the first person who I found has this problem.

@Enby May I ask why your dad doesn’t speak the language of the country he lives in? And has lived in for I guess at least 10 years? Don’t get me wrong, Spanish is a great language, but if I would move abroad permanently I consider it an act of respect to learn the language of that country, whether it be Spanish, Russian, Chinese or whatever.

@Lois Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I read/heard somewhere that when the early government/founding fathers or smt were to choose an official language for the country, they had to make a choice between English and German. In the end it was English, but it wasn’t very clear beforehand.
