Most of us have that one friend who keeps calling out our grammar mistakes. (Of course, I won't be as careful with my language hanging out at a bar as I would writing a uni paper, Rob.)

But as annoying as it can be, they can still play the "I can't help it, this is really important to me" card. Some know-it-alls, however, are so insecure that they feel the need to project their "intelligence" even when they don't have all the facts. There's a whole Facebook group dedicated to this group, called 'People Incorrectly Correcting Other People.'

With over 1.7 million members, this place has plenty of examples, ranging from silly and lighthearted to downright outrageous. Here are some of the most memorable ones.

RELATED:

When people disagree on an issue, there are several ways they might deal with the situation. They might avoid it altogether, either by putting off a discussion or just agreeing with the other person in order to end the conversation. On the other hand, people can be active in resolving disagreements.

Art Markman, Ph.D., an Annabel Irion Worsham Centennial Professor of Psychology and Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin, highlights that in the latter case, we have the choice between being competitive or cooperative: competitive resolution means that people are trying to convince the other person to change their belief, while cooperative resolution means that people are seeking some kind of middle ground.

Considering the history of some of the popes, that might make more sense. Then again, catholicism and it's many variants don't even follow the same set of rules.

He is trying to bring the church into the 21st century. While he can't outright say homosexuality is fine, he has said that there needs to be more legal equality for all couples. And has urged all catholic churches, their priests and members to be more inclusive of ALLwho wish to attend services, along with their families. He invited a manto the Vatican about 2 years ago to discuss what the church could do to make members of the LGBTQ+ communities feel more welcome and involved. This man originally wrote to Pope Francis after he and his husband were asked to leave the church he grew up in. His spouse converted to Catholicism before marriage and they wanted to raise their 2 children in the church. Pope Francis has done more for the church in 10 years than anyone else has done in the past 100. While I'm a recovering Catholic myself, I appreciate what he is doing to make changes and bring the younger generations back

Technically, the Pope is not Catholic, according to QI. The official title of the guy we call the Pope, who is currently Francis, doesn't include the word Pope, but the leader of the Eastern Orthodox Church does include the word Pope.

The Pope is in fact the bishop of Rome and is head of the church here on Earth. His job is to protect the scriptures and to ensure Catholic teaching does not change. He is not necessarily the "holiest" Catholic as some put it. I believe what the person who said "He is not a true Catholic" was trying to say is that as the leader of the Catholic Church he needs to abide by the teachings of the church. Homosexuality in the Catholic Church is a mortal sin. So, while you can and should love everyone you should not encourage sinful behavior that in Catholic teaching could send someone to Hell. Especially, if you're the Pope and have a global platform. And before anyone responds, I am not saying gays go to Hell. In fact Catholic teaching is that we are not sure if anyone is actually in Hell as God is love and if you ask for forgiveness even just before death God may forgive you. We simply cannot damn anyone.

Why are people arguing about things that aren't really important or their business ? They should be arguing about the fact people can't afford food and the medicines that keep them alive. Once the important things are worked out, then talk about the things that you shouldn't even be putting your neb-a** noses into in the first place. Who I sleep with is not your concern. This one is absolutely correct, though. He's clearly, now, a heretic not following GOD or scripture. The commandment of Jesus, "love thy neighbor" never once ever included the instructions: "help them sin" or "cheer them on"; in fact, there's literal examples of either bringing to light and attention their ongoing sin, and then kicking them out of the church if they don't repent. It's very clear how many people don't even read the Bible or follow Christ.

And Jesus also said stop focusing on the speck in your brother's eye and mind the giant plank in yours, which is Jesus speak for "Mind your own damn business! God doesn't need your help judging his flock." Bringing them to the light is easier said than done, everyone interpretes the Word according to their own understanding or the wouldn't be so many denominations under the same religion. Who can say for certain they have the right formula? In the book of revelations (I think) it speaks of some pretty hefty fees to pay for misleading people according to your understanding or misunderstanding of the scripture. So I'm just going to stick to loving and encouraging the faith. Defining sin and whatnot I'll leave it up to the Holy spirit.

It is true that he is not a true catholic. The Vatican is a place of serious Luciferianism. This meme just shows he is out to push an agenda on the billions of people who believe he is Godly just because this world (which is run by Satan) told them so. The catholic church was the ruling power during the middle ages (a.k.a. the dark ages) which was a time of stagnant advances in humanity and superstition held sway. Torture was considered a profession and filth was the soap of the day. The whole Catholic establishment was only ever meant to lead the masses astray. Did you know, to become a Satanic Priest, you must first become a catholic priest (just a little fun fact). By the way, I would love the opportunity to tell the pope that he is the head of a filthy, manipulative, money grubbing cult...sorry, I mean religion.

"Many factors lead people to take a cooperative or a competitive stance when dealing with a disagreement," Markman said. "For example, the personality characteristic of openness reflects how willing people are to consider new ideas. People high in openness are more likely to be cooperative than those who are low in openness."

"The characteristic of agreeableness reflects how much people want to get along with others. Agreeable people are also more likely to seek a compromise than disagreeable people."

To get a better understanding of why some people need everyone to believe they're correct, Markman suggests taking a look at a paper by Kimberly Rios, Kenneth DeMarree, and Johnathan Statzer in the July 2014 issue of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, which examined the way people's certainty about their beliefs affects their tendency to be cooperative or competitive.

"People's certainty about their beliefs can be broken down into two components: clarity and correctness," Markman explained.

"Clarity refers to whether people are sure about what they believe. Each of us has some beliefs that we hold deeply and others to which we are not as firmly attached. Correctness focuses on whether we think our belief is “correct” in some broader cultural or moral context.

The authors of the paper suggested that the more strongly people believe their attitude is correct, the more competitive they will be in their discussions. In contrast, they did not assume that clarity would be as strongly related to competitiveness.

"Being certain of your attitude can affect whether you try to convince other people that you are right," Markman said. "In particular, the more strongly you believe that your attitude is the right one, the more you will focus on convincing others."

But that also means that if you find yourself in conflict with others on a regular basis, you might want to evaluate whether you generally assume that your attitudes are the correct ones. If so, you might consider discovering other people’s perspectives in order to see whether there is validity to opposing points of view. Something that folks we see in these pictures would benefit from.
