40 Times People Came Across Such Confidently Wrong Statements, They Just Had To Share ‘Em
Some people are so wrong you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. And unfortunately, they are often also the ones that proclaim their ‘truths’ the loudest. That’s why their incorrect statements have to be refuted loudly as well, and what better way to reach a vast audience than turning to the good old internet?
Refuting false information is exactly what the ‘Confidently Incorrect’ subreddit is for. To be more exact, it’s “for those times when people are way too smug about their wrong answer”, according to their own description. Even though the community was started just a few years ago, in 2020, it has already amassed nearly 990k members, eager to show just how wrong—yet confident—some people can be. We’ve gathered some pretty colorful examples of that, so scroll down to find them on the list below and enjoy.

Watching someone dig their own grave by being smug about their wrong answer can be surprisingly amusing. However, misinformation online is quite a prevalent problem in this day and age. And it’s likely that the internet is where such mistaken people find the false information in the first place.
Even if that’s not where they learn it, they might find supporting statements online nevertheless. Pew Research Center pointed out that, according to a 2016 study, people tend to seek information online that aligns with their views. (Even—or maybe especially so?—if they’re far from the truth.)
Pew Research Center also revealed that after the election in 2016, 64% of adults believed fake news stories can cause a great deal of confusion. However, as much as 23% of them admitted to have shared fabricated political stories themselves, whether by mistake or intentionally.

Experts predict that, “manipulative actors will use new digital tools to take advantage of humans’ inbred preference for comfort and convenience and their craving for the answers they find in reinforcing echo chambers.”
Another enabling factor for the spread of misinformation online is the fast pace of technological change. It is believed that the rising speed, reach and efficiency of the internet, together with an abundance of online applications, can magnify the aforementioned human tendencies to the extent that false information crowds out reliable information.

But then why do we continue to believe the online world, you may wonder? Well, Forbes delved deeper into that and pointed out that looking for information online is easy—why go to a library when you have an array of webpages ready at your fingertips? Moreover, there are also no gatekeepers scanning and filtering information.
“Instead of browsing a small carefully curated set of high-quality informational streams, our online citizenry are thrown into an ocean of almost limitless low-quality information, forced to expend considerable effort to forage for the rare bit of accurate insight,” the article read in part.
It pointed out that nowadays, instead of turning to a competent person, equipped with all the necessary knowledge, people tend to do a quick online search and click on the first link, whether it’s reliable or not.

The pee comes out through the urethra, the menstrual blood through the vagina. The tampon goes into the vagina to absorb the blood. Some of us change tampons each time we pee, some even change tampons more frequently than we pee.

the urethra is actually more internal.... it doesn't come from the outside where you would think. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but it is positioned in a way to where it can soak the bottom of the tampon. Not something I really want to talk about but this one isn't actually as wrong as everyone thinks 😶 just look up an anatomy drawing it shows the position (the side view will show it)

It was followed by TikTok and Twitter with 35% and 32% people respectively stating the same about them.

If the sun has no power when it’s cold, then why do people risk snow blindness if they don’t shade their eyes when skiing, walking, or whatever on snow when the sun is bright in the sky? Why do some people ski on bright sunny days while wearing bathing suits and other warm weather clothing if the sunshine reflecting off the snow doesn’t generate enough heat to feel warm, but not melt the snow? Then there’s the light the sun gives off all year round. Hell, even in Alaska when it’s dark in winter, there are still a couple hours of light during the day, though the sun stays low on the horizon during those hours—-then they have midnight sun all summer. And let’s not forget the effect of solar flares and sunspots on the Earth. Heat is not the only power the sun has.

The sad part is more and more of these morons are going out into the world thanks to America's terrible education, especially here in the south. My city is planning on spending 2 billion dollars on an upgrade to the football stadium while I can't find a non private school for my middle schooler that isn't a F school.
