Each of us learns by different means. For some, reading a book about WWII sounds like the perfect Sunday evening. Others prefer to learn by listening to podcasts, YouTube, or even the good ol' radio. But a whopping 65% of Americans are visual learners, meaning they learn best through images and videos.

Pages like Not Common Facts then are a great place for curious minds. With 6.1 million followers, it's one of the most popular pages on Instagram where people can learn lesser-known facts. Do you know what "husband storage pods" are at malls in China? And did you know that dogs who have dog friends live longer? Find these and more intriguing facts as you scroll down!

Rejoice, all lazy pandas! It turns out that laziness can be a sign of intelligence. At least according to a 2015 study published in the Journal of Health Psychology. The researchers found that those who are less physically active tend to spend more time engaged in mental stimulation. They even coined a fancy term to describe laziness: "the need for cognition."

So-called lazy people tend to look for ways to make tasks easier and reduce wasteful tasks. They might be better hires, as they look at how to save time, eliminate problems, and innovate. So, forget everything you knew about procrastination and productivity and connect with your inner panda more!

What about those husband pods in Chinese malls? It turns out that in 2017, the Global Harbour Mall in Shanghai built some glass pods where men can sit and play retro video games while their wives do the shopping. At the time, the service was free, but the creators planned to monetize it by having customers scan a QR code and pay a small sum of money to access the pods.

The pods also received some mixed reviews. One man, who had just played Tekken 3, told The Paper that he felt like he was back in his childhood. Another gentleman, however, noted that there's no air conditioning in the pods, so, there is still room for improvement.

Another interesting fact shared by the Not Common Facts page was that the U.S. is no longer among the 20 happiest countries in the world. That's according to the World Happiness Report, and, in its 12-year history, the U.S. has never been outside the top 20. In 2024, it went down from the 15th place to the 23rd.

For people over 60, however, it's still the 10th best country in the world, but young people under the age of 30 don't think so anymore. Interestingly, the top three happiest countries for young people were Lithuania, Israel, and Serbia.

In November of 2024, Saudi Arabia saw a historic snowfall. It sparked discussions about climate change, and while isolated snowfall in the region is not unheard of, the timing and extent of this one raised some concerns. The meteorologists from the Saudi National Centre of Meteorology claimed that it was a result of a low-pressure system above the Arabian Sea. It merged with the dry and hot air from the desert and formed into thunderstorms, hail, and snow.

The page also shared the fact that stay-at-home parents report lower stress levels than parents who work full-time. The study upon which the fact is probably based has a little more nuance to it. Researchers looked at working mothers and SAHMs and observed that those who work steadily after the birth of their first child report better physical health.

But they all claim that it was an 1 month sentence, and he was scheduled to be released the next day. We already know that socialization prolongs our lives, but did you know that the same goes for dogs? Essentially, if you have a doggo, get them a friend ASAP, as researchers have proven that socializing with another canine can help prolong a dog's life. And it doesn't even have to be another puppy, as dogs who had another non-human companion in the house were rated "significantly healthier" than other dogs and had fewer disease diagnoses.

This is false! The levee that broke was one of a dozen that broke along that river during insane flooding. The Army Corps of Engineers had just taken material from the area that gave way, making the already completely saturated levee taller, but thinner as well. Experts later said that the levee broke due to natural causes, but "Catastrophe Jim" aka James Scott was scapegoated after because he was an ex-con and had been helping at the levee the day of the flood and admitted that he moved some sandbags from one area to a place he saw leaking. When the levee broke, instead of fishing, partying, and f#cking, as some people claimed he had bragged, he first helped the Coast Guard load boats into the water, then drove for five hours to get around the flooded area so he could pick up his wife from work before they drove another five hours so they could get home.

Or if you are looking globally, it's because the groups with the lowest level of th enzymes to break down alcohol (indigenous Americans and east Asians) tend to have brown eyes. There's also some evidence that the healthy benefits from moderate alcohol intake is primarily seen in people of Indo-European descent. There's nothing in the eye colour genes that helps with alcohol processing, it's just that ethnicities with more enzymes to metabolize the alcohol are also more prone to blue eyes.

They'll live. Please don't spread this c**p around. This is the type of info husbands and boyfriends use to pressure and force their partners to having sex with them. My ex did that to me. 3 weeks post-natal was excruciatingly too soon. He complained to his friends about not having sex and blaming me for this bad attitude. He read it in a men's magazine stating men die or something if they don't have sex often. If a man get horny, he has his own hands.
