So this is just a d**k move really - or at least in the UK. From memory the rule is the employer needs 2x the notice of the length of the holiday (ie need to give a fortnights notice for a week off) to cancel a holiday without any kind of comeback. So unless these are in the very near future it’ll just f**k up peoples plans.

My mom actually did this one time. I'd been working 70+ hour weeks on an extremely variable schedule, so I'd frequently be off after midnight and back at 5 am. It was allowed in the contract as long as they paid overtime and turnaround pay. One morning I got up, showered, went to get dressed and straight up fainted. She found me on the floor of my closet and made me call out.

I get to go outside to the wilderness on my break. There's a transit bus route with a stop right there. I've fantasized getting on a bus and riding it to the horizon mid break many times. They can't stop me. It's my fears of homelessness and the hassle of job searching that keeps me sticking to my lunch shift and hastily making my way back to work.

I was amazed.. have been working at my present employer for 5 years and was talking to the HR person figuring out my anniversary date for vacation. She said "you know you have 4 personal days each year you never use". Yeah'''? "USE THEM! that's why they are there"! My HR said this... in all my 40 years or so of work..never happened before.

I complained once that a sales guy (who was the LOUDEST and most obnoxious person I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with) was being racist and misogynistic (as well as being graphic and swearing constantly) in ear shot of customers and people on the phone to customers, when talking with other colleagues (moaning about his foreign MIL and joking about her being their maid for the week as she didn’t speak much English his gf didn’t do enough around the house - I am paraphrasing but it was worse than that) - management’s solution? ask this guy to talk more quietly in the office. Should have realised at that point to look for another job
