Parenthood is basically a life-long course in crisis management. You learn to deal with stormy tantrums and find the answers for every if and but. And no, they don't give a BA or MA just 'cause you’re good at it.
But it all pays off! You see, kids are full of things we no longer have as grown-ups. It’s brutal honesty and out-of-the-box ideas that turn them into little crazy geniuses. Luckily, these moms and dads have documented the zippy life of raising a kid and shared it on Twitter. Bored Panda has collected the best parenting tweets of April for some much-needed entertainment, which, I can’t say, was spoiling us in this last month. Psst! An extra batch with 30 parenting tweets from March is waiting here.

The lockdown has put virtually every parent with a kid under stress. Juggling work, homeschooling the kids, and the domestic life can be seriously draining. Bored Panda contacted parenting expert Dr. Laura Markham from Aha Parenting to find out how to maintain sanity during these days. She suggests “paring back your expectations and focusing on the most important things like helping your family stay healthy, supporting your child, and replenishing yourself.”
But it’s not only grown-ups who’re under stress. “Kids feel stressed because their whole world has suddenly changed and because parents are stressed,” explained Laura. It turns out, many children are having a hard time sleeping and they’re disappointed by missing out on all the things they took for granted, from playgrounds to seeing their friends.
I'm having to relearn everything that we never use in daily life. Like scalene triangles. I assured my son he only needed to retain that info for a minute because it will never be used again. Until he has kids and they need to learn it.
You fold all your clothes? Interesting concept... Mine is in a constantly rotating pile on/off the coach.
But Laura is positive that lockdown parenting can work. She suggests learning mindfulness to manage anxiety, helping children with conflict resolution skills, and spending one-on-one time daily with each child to strengthen the bond. “You didn't choose this particular marathon. But you're learning something about your own strength and how to support yourself to be your best.”
Most importantly, the parenting expert assures us that “you can come out of this crisis stronger and more emotionally fit.” Your children will look back at this time and say "It was the coronavirus pandemic, but our family had so much fun together; we got closer!" And that’s when you'll realize the lesson nobody asked for was the one we might have needed
I share your pain. Sometimes sentences have 20 starts and 0 to 1 endings...
Homeschooling is a nightmare, I can't wait til the kids can back to school. Hopefully in 2 weeks time.
Kids in a nutshell XD my son insisted his shirt had "back buttons" and was indeed the right way round, then casually changed his shirt not long thereafter for one "he liked better" (and this one had front buttons!)
I sometimes say to my daughter "since your already up, can you please turn the light on, or get me a drink etc" lol.
I did this to my dad when he was sleeping. He went to the store and wondered why everyone was looking at him so strangely. I was 4
This has become my house, at a point now where food is food, no matter what time of day it is. We had cake for breakfast this morning 🤷
last week my 2 kids and my husband ask whats for dinner. I replied "I'm having cake. Idk what Y'all are having. " it was just angel food cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream but the slice was about 1/4 of the cake so.....
Load More Replies...We had chocolate gravy on biscuits yesterday morning. It was so sweet even my kids complained.
I swear I'm going insane. Woke up yesterday, got some bread from the fridge. Turned around and asked "where's the peanut butter?"
my philosophy since I had kids has always been i don't care what you eat as long as you eat. They usually make really great choices from the selection of what I buy lol
One of my sons when he was little wanted to try chocolate syrup on his eggs at breakfast. I let him. His older brother said "I bet it tastes terrible together" but the younger said it tasted just great. I asked him the next day if he'd like it the same again. He politely declined which set off his older brother into a laughing fit.
Appreciate that sweet beauty of when he's asleep, I do! Also I get my parents to read him a bedtime story on video chat on Fridays, I get 30 mins or so of him chatting away to them
I didn't think I could home school, ever and then my oldest had way too many troubles with school so I sucked it up and started homeschooling. Then my second oldest fell sick and there was no help for her so I started homeschooling her. AND then my third had issues with school so I now homeschool him. Three kids home all day, every day, never thought I could do it until I did ^_^
If he's that stubborn write an actual contract in words he gets. I had to do that with on of my nephew's. He tried to barter and I'd break out the contract. When he got older he tried to get stubborn at my place one night and I pulled the contract out, showing it to him. He couldn't believe I kept it. I couldn't believe he thought I'd throw that away. We're in re-negotiations at this moment in time.
I don't know what I would do if they didn't have fortnite. That's my break time. I'm like go play a video game.
Wow. They love to make math waaaaay more difficult than it is, don't they?
Yes! Mine took 3 hours to write a 4 sentence journal entry about gravity.
it's funny when you say it about your kids... we all know it's our SOs that are sticking the landing with that performance though
Mum, can we go to Mc Donalds? Nope it's closed! I will be sad when this is all over...
I have warned my kids that if they ever complain they are bored then I will give them something to do (cleaning).
The way maths calculations are done these days boggles my mind. So much different to when I was at school.
This. My children have now learned the F word and have started asking why I don’t get off my screen when I tell them they need to take a break from any screen.
Mine draws elaborate trap machines with safety exits only he can operate, in case he falls into his own horrific creation....let's keep these two apart.
My friend's daughter, when she was 7, ten years ago, asked if we had color TV in our olden days. We were 25.
my boy turned 10 Monday. He wanted to look at Motorcycles and said "in 6 years I can drive so I'm just seeing whats out there".......
I offered my boy ice-cream cones for breakfast monday..... dairy, fruit, grain.
We used to play a game called the eiderdown monster (an eiderdown is a blanket). Dad would be under it roaring etc, and me and my sister would scream and run around it trying to escape and to get it at the same time. Then one day my sister kicked the eiderdown monster, it went "oh s**t" and promptly died, never to return (apparently my sis hit him right in the wrong place XD)
Or get out of the car. Because you know they have to gather all the tiny toys they brought, find their shoes, put on said shoes, put down their toys because they need a free hand to hold on to something to hop out, pick out the toys again, drop at least one on the way to the front door....
i thought the cheesecake factory made only cheesecake and candles? Im 13 idk anything ig
Add egg, sugar, splash of milk and then fry. Eggy bread. (Sultanas, cinnamon optional)
I know someone who has a kid with three loose teeth, and they can only eat mush or they scream all day about toothaches, but when they eat mush they hate the taste of mush, and I feel sorry for the parents.

Load More Replies...After seeing all this....... i'm very glad that Covid wasn't around my childhood. My parents would've kill me as child support's laws came a bit too late for me.
Haha there is some truth in that comment... I like to say in reality the children teach their parents while the parents prepare them for this world. Only when the parents don't want to see what their kids are trying to show them life gets very exhausting and they think there is something very wrong with the kid - who they themselves raised to be like that. People don't hate their kids though, it's self hate wich they forward by teaching them, but they don't have bad intentions they want the best for their kids like all of us. No need for judgement.
Load More Replies...It's not regret, of course they do inane and insane stuff it's annoying and amusing and I don't regret my kid for a minute, even when he's screaming at me over something that's nothing. But I've known I wanted to be a mum since I can remember. My sister is the opposite, and isn't keen to be a mum, her fulfillment comes from her personal relationships, career, study and travel. But no one here expresses regret that I can see. Some ppl want kids some don't. If you have chosen not to, like my sister, that's just as valid as those who do have them. No need to disrespect one another for our different choices, every path to happiness is unique
