The public is not being fleeced. They want to see a sporting event and are willing to pay big bucks for that, as well as $8 for a small beer.

You could argue they both are. Having a child is EXPENSIVE. Daycare, diapers, food when they get old enough for it, formula, toys, furniture, if you're living in a 1 bedroom in the US that can get your kid taken by CPS so you've gotta upgrade which means either more rent or buying a more expensive home. Then god forbid your kid plays after school sports which means buying a uniform and equipment or an instrument for band. You're technically putting money into the pockets of people & boosting the economy. But it's still at the detriment of someone else.

Your comment is of course ridiculous. You'll never make any progress with that attitude. Demonizing the opposition only impresses the true believers; you'll never convince anyone that way. Personally I think people on both sides are sincere. That's what makes it such a contentious issue.
