44 Logic Fails That Deserve A Round Of Applause For Effort
Interview With ExpertWe’re all wired differently from each other. One person likely won’t see things the exact same way as another would, and that’s alright.
Some people, however, take things to another level, thanks to their questionable views of the world. And unfortunately, social media has provided a platform that emboldens them to spew their ideas to the rest of the world.
We’ve collected some posts from the Facepalm subreddit, where its 8.1 million members constantly call out the most absurd forms of logic. Feel free to scroll through, but hopefully, it won’t make you lose the remaining faith you have left in the current state of humanity.

“For example, if a person enjoys French fries, it is because they have had them and it was a good experience,” he said.

Fun fact; when Nintendo was having financial problems rather than fire or dock the pay of his employees, the CEO simply lowered his own salary
The major problem is the way CEO salary and bonuses are tied to short term goals. It creates perverse incentives. When you tie CEO bonuses to something like stock price, it's easy to justify firing people and lowering costs even if that ends up hurting the company or slowing growth.
Ceo's do the elast amount of work, and get paid the most. universal problem
Look what hospital executives make in salary AND bonuses. It's public info and imagine how many staff they could hire and pay better with even a fraction of that pay.
Microsoft’s gross profit in 2025 was 193.893 billion. They also fired 15,000 employees and 2000 under-performers.
How many people did Microsoft hire in that period? Let me help: "Microsoft total employee count in 2025 was 228,000, a 0% decline from 2024. Microsoft total number of employees in 2024 was 228,000, a 3.17% increase from 2023."

Greene then explained how a flawed sense of logic begins, stating that it is usually when it remains unchallenged throughout the person’s life. The example he gave is when someone is raised to believe that all people from a particular country are their enemy.
And because they have not had any personal experience living in the said country, they will stick to the beliefs that have been instilled in them, while also rejecting all counterpoints.

There are other bonuses as well. Keep in mind insurance companies don't compete for patients. They complete for companies. Insurance companies can treat patients like c**p, if folks do leave the company find them a replacement patient. That being the case, what do you think those insurance companies are doing to keep the companies they are competing for happy?
Any other civilised country would already have rioted and protested to get that connection gone. But they probably would've protestested against everything that's 'normal' in America
Yeah like Duke Hospital is in contract negotiations with Aetna now. Last year it was United Healthcare, when we logged out at 5:00 on Oct 31st we didn't know if it would be in network or not the next morning. They reached an agreement that night. With UNC it was supposed to expire 12-31-23. They finally reached an agreement in April of last year. It's all in the $$$ and the contracts!

Load More Replies...So, is it possible to put some sense into someone whose logic is decidedly skewed? Greene says it is, but it will take a lot of work. Apart from the increased reliance on social media, a significant challenge would be if this person shares the same beliefs with the people they are close to.
“To have this person change would require them to agree to challenge their beliefs,” he said. “This would require them to be given verifiable information from somebody that they trust.”

This new bill won't do anything. All that will happen is exactly what happens in America - a 'supporters of X' campaign will be organised, and every lobbyist will have employees donate $19,999 per employee on their behalf. Politics is one of the many hot topics that people tend to avoid discussing, especially at the dinner table. Because when one person opens the talks, all logic tends to fly out the window.
A 2019 study proved this when researchers brought together a group of 924 liberal and conservative Americans to judge their logical arguments. Their goal was to determine how ideological belief bias affects a person’s way of thinking.

Two of Trump's three wives were immigrants. It just proves that migrants are willing to take jobs that Americans don't want.

Load More Replies...Someone on Twitter replied with "If they collectively “bring in 55 billion”, then why do they need a 3.5 billion dollar budget to begin with? Is that democrat math you are using? 🤣", I swear I am fucking losing braincells
$55.6 billion is total economic output connected to it, not what the parks bring in (this includes nearby hotels, gas to drive to the parks, nearby eateries, etc). That is a lot of economic benefit that leads to tax revenue but that is not the National Parks a year. $26.4 billion of the 55.6 is what is spent on the communities near the park. Actual park revenue is $1.1 billion. So when you look that it directly brings in 1.1b to a cost of 3.5b, it looks like a loss on the economy, however when you add it to the estimated $2.71 billion in income taxes related to all the economic activity, it is a net gain for the govt, and when you look at all the benfits in brings, and how much taxes from those nearby areas and other revenue sources, it is a very good thing for the US.

We've Got Socialism For The Rich And Harsh Capitalism For The Poor
Because in the eyes of the GQP, the poor have too much and the wealthy don't have enough.
It also doesn’t help that polarized news outlets (CNN and FOX News in America) and social media seemingly divide people further. According to psychology professor Dr. Keith Payne, these platforms make it easier to communicate and disseminate polarization.
“Social media is very good at spreading outrage, and moral outrage in particular is something that makes a post more likely to go viral,” Dr. Payne said in an interview with the American Psychological Association.

Confirmation bias seems to be the main culprit here. Simply put, it’s a way of selective thinking wherein our brains favor information that aligns with our preconceptions while also disregarding every contradiction, regardless of how logical they are. And according to Dr. Payne, it can reinforce a flawed way of thinking.
“Sometimes it can be confirmation bias that serves the goal of reassuring us that we’re a good person,” he explained. “It’s changing our opinion and taking on the new opinion.”

The lack of logic brought on by divisiveness could be due to the feeling that we are in “survival mode,” according to organizational psychologist Dr. Laura Gallaher. In her interview with Forbes, she said the negative news cycles only make things worse, and it is when optimism and positivity are much needed.
“We need to remember that we can still thrive in this environment,” she said, highlighting the importance of “shifting to thrive mode” and eventually retaking control of your thoughts and attitude towards the world around you.

It was normal for a very brief period of time under a very specific set of circumstances that likely cannot be repeated. In other words; it wasn’t normal at all. That isn’t to say it couldn’t have become the norm but the opportunity was squandered by those who took advantage of the situation then made sure to pull the ladder up after they made it.

Load More Replies...It's Your Money
Ah if only...The government is using YOUR money to fund deficits in other areas. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but people are now living longer, and taking YOUR money with them. It should have been used like an account for who earned what during their work years, but the government "borrowed" from it. Crashes and recessions later, most of us won't have squat.
Been paying into it since I was 15, which means I have been paying for 36 years now, but I absolutely do not think it will be there for me. I will have to work till I die, because my pension won't be enough, and the money saved all these years is worth so little due to inflation. There will be no golden years. All I can do now is hope my place of employment keeps me on even when I am a little old lady in my 90s (my family has a tendency to live into their late 90s/early 100s).
Load More Replies...You're close, but not really. Social Security is insurance. It's required, like home owners insurance is if a mortgage company still owns your house. It covers people who are too young, too old, or too sick to work, so such people don't starve (barely). In the 1930's(?), we decided that 65 was the age that people become too old to work. It's become a complicated system because people are living longer, healthier lives and also because some people have been figuring out all the ways its system can be gamed. Plugging all the holes makes it complicated.

"Poisons And Cancer"
I wish for these people that one day they wake up and fully realise that they killed their own children for nothing. And that following this they have a long, painful, unhappy life.
If one kid doesn't do it, they never will. Take some family that was in the news because they lost a kid to measles because he wasn't vaccinated. Spent ridiculous amounts of energy defending the choice to continue being anti-vax "It wasn't even small pox that killed them. It was a secondary infection." For the unaware, that secondary infection is generally what leads to death in a measles case.

I read this and thought that if her 1 month old had died, then as the vaccine isn't given till 16 weeks, it was very sad, but unrelated to 'anti vaxx'. I looked up the vaccine schedule (UK) and was very surprised to learn that the vaccine is offered to pregnant women early second trimester to precisely avoid early deaths. So yeah, she's a complete womanslaughterer.

No they didn't. Most of these kids had idiot parents that insisted they go to college, but didn't teach the kids anything about economics or finance. When an 18 year old decides to pay $100k for a degree that promises 50k a year job, their parents have failed them.

Despite what many US propagandists say, the living standards for 99% of the population are higher here than in the USA and I feel truly sorry for you guys who are going through all of that right now, because 1/3 of your population voted for the moronic criminal who is now your president and another 1/3 of you simply couldn't be bothered to vote.
Realistically speaking the 1/3rd that didn't vote wouldn't have helped. It's used to justify voting for a third-party candidate, but in reality the split would still follow similar ratios to the people who did vote. The real killer was the two-party system we're running. It's just not a healthy system. There are a lot of people that despised Trump that voted for him just to not vote Democrat. The two side are bitter enemies and there's not *realistic* vent for when you're dissatisfied with both. The system isn't even built to properly handle more than 2 factions, which becomes clearer when you examine how they structure the house and senate in terms of parties. Not to mention the electorate college, which if you live in a deeply embedded state, it's basically the same as throwing you vote away to vote for the less popular opponent I mean this quite literally since If your state is overwhelmingly left or right, your vote will not be considered towards the party you voted for.
