50 Times Attention Seekers Went Too Far With Their Ignorance (New Pics)
According to Freud, infants have an innate tendency to be self-centered. The main basic, evolutionary instinct of humans is to protect themselves and survive. In order to do so, the brain has to be 'selfish’ and largely concerned about itself. But as we grow up, we start to realize that not everything revolves around us, and our self-centeredness starts to decline.
Unfortunately, not all people grow out of it, and the I’m the Main Character online community is proof of that. It’s dedicated to shaming individuals who can’t help but just want to be the center of attention by shining even more spotlight on them. If you ask me, there’s no better way to help the entitled Karens come back down to earth.

This Guy At Disneyland
Entitled Bride
This story was on here several weeks ago and there was an update this week. Newly rich, entitled woman, if I remember correctly, marrying a child from a billionaire's family.
Shocked
I was on a trip to the United Kingdom. I am a Canadian and was more than glad to see the recognition for our contribution in the world wars and especially since 10% of our population served in the second. I was absolutely stunned by what I saw at the Canadian war memorial. I didn’t say a word but should I have? It’s a memorial paying respect to thousands of Canadians (usually in their early 20s) who paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and liberation of a occupied Europe.
disrespecting war memorials...wow. that's a new level of stupid.
I think it's more a case of little kids seeing cool structure and wanting to play on it, but their parents should really be stopping them from doing so.
Load More Replies...WITH the sign I agree. But it's also a poor design if they don't want anyone on it. Without the sign it looks like the kind of art that is intended to be interactive. A local college has several art pieces that people routinely sit / climb on because they were made to be interactive.
I was about to say the same thing. If you're gonna make a war memorial in a public place, don't make it in a shape that's fun for kids to play on
Load More Replies...Okay, might get downvoted here, but I disagree, the people in the picture are not at fault. It's again crappy monument design. If you build any kind of memorial side, make it clear it is a memorial side, make it clear it is not meant to be played or walked on. Make clear what it is. This thing invites people, especially children, to walk all over it.
They need to move the sign next to the memorial. Often parents with little kids don't have time to read signs. But if it's in their face, they'd be too ashamed to let their kids climb on it after having seen it. They'd get dirty looks.
You underestimate entitled parents who think that their crotch goblins can do anything they want to, regardless of how close a warning-sign/rules-sign is posted.
Load More Replies...We've got a lot of war memorials in the UK. That's the only one I've ever seen that looks like it was intended for skateboarding. The question for me is: why construct a war memorial that's basically ramps on a footpath? First World War memorials often feature this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_of_Remembrance. One glance at that, and you get the idea it's meant to be taken seriously.
So anything that isn't an angular slab of stone isn't meant to be taken seriously? I get what you're saying, but the fact that this is a WAR MEMORIAL should far outweigh its "fun! Let's play on it/skateboard on it!" shape. Why construct a war memorial that's basically ramps on a footpath? Because the artist/sculptor felt that evoked something within them. They shouldn't be forced into "angular stone memorials only" or "serious-looking memorials only" simply because some people are d-bags who can't understand it's disrespectful to step/walk/skateboard on a war memorial of ANY shape.
Load More Replies...That memorial is asking to be climbed on. Many memorials stir up the emotions like the Maya Lin Vietnam War memorial in DC. You can walk on the grass above or as you walk along side the wall, the names engraved on black stone seem to rise up. Like a tidal wave. Amazing and sad.
DY said nothing offensive. Knock it off with the downvotes.
Load More Replies...Obviously this is not a universal opinion or is universally appropriate but if I were to die in a war and there was a memorial made commemorate it, I would love for it to be something that children could play on. There is a war memorial near us that always seems to have kids on it (despite the signs), which does bother me, but I do wonder what the diggers, who’s names are on it, would have preferred.
I'm a Vet and tbh I'd rather kids be playing ans having fun on any memorial for me. It's not disrespectful it means life goes on. What did we fight for if not children's well being, safety, and happiness. I can't speak for Canadian but I'm a combat vet and I wouldn't mind it.
I mean shame on people for climbing it, with the sign right there, but they did make it super tempting by having a wide side walk funnel down to a little side wall and making it like a hill and slide ! Still if the sign so no ! I’m a stickler for the rules but temptation can be hard for people sometimes !
Yeah, you should have told those little sh#ts to get off. What ignorant people there are. Wonder why they came to the memorial in the first place?
Playing devil's advocate for just a second... This is an absurdly stupid design for a war memorial. If you want to see a really beautiful, moving memorial monument, just Google the Canadian monument at Vimy Ridge in France. I'm American and I have no problem stating that THAT memorial surpasses almost anything we have. This one that people are climbing on? It's more of an insult than a memorial. Are these people jerks? Absolutely. Does the "artist" who "designed" this angular piece of garbage that invites people to climb on it need to stick to their day job? Also absolutely.
I don‘t think saying something would have helped. Most people who do this/ allow their kids to do it, would not care and might even get angry. But everyone can help by saying no to their own kids and telling them (loudly, so others will hear), that it is not allowed to climb/ play on there. And if your kids say „but the others do it!“ explain that the other parents either cannot read or are disrespectfull for allowing their kids to do it. I had great success with that tactic. I think sometimes parents just did not pay attation to signs or did not see them and sometimes there were already kids on there and they thought it‘s ok, because there were already kids on there. But they will get embarrassed, if they hear another parent explaining it to their own kids without attacking them for it.
I've been there , there's like signs every 20cm telling you not to climb. How dumb are you
Sadly, this will be tourists, tictokers, influencers and morons who have zero respect and have no idea how to behave around these important structures, you can go on you tube right now and watch great clips of tourists being yelled at by armed royal guards 💂 for the sake of a selfie with a horse!
Don't know why you got downvoted, but I fixed it for you.
Load More Replies...I'm assuming the sign is talking about the memorial a bunch of rude people are climb on.
TBH I'm a teacher, so yeah, I probably would have said something. I've been yelled at by parents before.
If you make it climbable, young humans will climb it. It is that simple.
If I were ever to do something that would warrant a memorial of some kind, I'd be delighted to have little kids playing and laughing on it. How bitter do you have to be to be angry over something so innocent and joyful? If the designers had wanted people to stay off it, they would have made it vertical, not a shape that invites climbing
I used to work at a WW1 memorial. It's not just a memorial, it's a cemetery. The amount of s**t I've seen there and heard about happening there...
This is completely common place in US. These entitled ppl and thier stupid counterparts. Let's not forget the MAGATS. Everything is THIER RIGHT. It's really not, they just don't know how to read@
Firstly don't EVER climb on War Memorials... Some adults do though. Having said that? Does anyone know where this is located? I'm in the UK and I'd need to know where this one is because the sign in the picture looks Photoshopped to cause offence.
I was there in January. I didn't walk on the thing. The sign is pretty clear.
I mean. They are kids. Kids playing on a memorial for War is poetic AF. If there is disrepect it's from life saying "F**k you i'm still there".
Parents will be on their phone, no idea what their brats are doing. Like the unrespectful idiots in Auschwitz taking selfies. Purely unforgivable
We all know what people are. If you make climbable, people are going to climb on it. Poorly designed. You have to compensate for the selfish & clueless.
The Berlin Holocaust memorial near Brandenburger Tor is also being watched, as people tend to climb it. Maximum disrespect and ignorance.
It's not very clever having a memorial children will climb anyway.
I HATE those parents that teach their kids that that’s ok. There was once this mom in a car who threw her cup out on a street, my dad honked at her, and when she drove by, she kindly called him a b-word. There was a small child in that car.
I saw one of those self-adoring women striking poses on top of a HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL! So her boyfriend could take pictures. I spoke to them (more politely than they deserved) and they had no idea they were being offensive.
OK, totally wrong. AND… maybe the design could have been a bit less like a slide? 🤔
We were there in 2013, also from Canada. Was/is extremely disrespectful for our veterans! People don't give a f*ck...just walk and eat where ever they want.
This was a wonderful teaching moment for those parents. And they failed miserably.
Nobody actually does parenting anymore. Outrageous behavior, and when you see it, what are the odds that U.S. citizens are doing it wherever in the world you are? Edit: Yes I'm from the U.S.
To be fair they really shouldn't make memorials that are so "climbable". Yes the parents should keep their kids off but it's a tough thing to tell a kid "please don't walk on this thing that is just begging to be walked on".
As the subreddit name suggests, the behavior of these people on the list falls under the term main character syndrome. It’s a fairly new colloquial definition used to describe someone who sees themselves as the main protagonist in a movie called ‘Life’ and always needs the spotlight on them.
Even though the word ‘syndrome’ is part of its name, it’s important to keep in mind that it’s not an actual syndrome or a medical diagnosis. The term originated on social media and is colloquially used to describe people with narcissistic or self-centered tendencies.

It started as an innocent way for people to romanticize their lives and make even the most mundane aspects of them more interesting. This shouldn't really have any negative impacts. That is, until people develop the need to make everything about themselves.

Main Character Blinds Everyone The Entire Show For A Video Shoot
“Main character syndrome describes the lens through which a person sees themselves,” explained Topsie VanderBosch, LMSW, a licensed therapist and mindset coach. “People who think they’re the main character tend to believe that they’re the most important person in most situations and interactions with people.”

Generally, someone with the main character syndrome exhibits dramatic behaviors, overdramatizes life events, feels like they’re better than other people, and has a lot of outward confidence that might hide underlying insecurities. Additional ones include romanticizing experiences or relationships, constantly seeking validation from social media, and needing to outshine others.
Which Do You Hate More?
1 "My vehicle deserves more space." The vehicle that needs to take more than one parking space in a congested parking lot/garage.
2 "My vehicle is more important than people." The vehicle that needs to block sidewalks used for walking and wheelchair access. (Note: the red color pavement is a ramp next to a handicap parking space.)
These are almost as bad as when someone blocks a crosswalk. My blind stepbrother once take his white cane and repeatedly hit a vehicle blocking the crosswalk (even though I told him what was in his way). The driver was pissed 😄 🤣
My Neighbor Sprayed Herbicide On My Back Lot To Make Himself A Parking Spot
Sheriff says that in our county you’re allowed to park on the outer 8 feet of someone else’s lawn for a day or two without their permission because it’s considered the shoulder. Come back to the same spot as many times as you want, just don’t be there continuously. You probably don’t have the right to kill someone else’s vegetation but I can’t prove it was him.

We have an HOA but clearly they don’t care, but they do care if my garbage can is left out 30 seconds after garbage is picked up.
Experts say that viewing yourself as a main character can be healthy. However, like most things, it should be taken advantage of in moderation. VanderBosch explained that developing confidence and owning one’s life choices can be the positive effects of this syndrome. But when it causes people to hurt others with their self-absorbed behavior, it becomes unhealthy. If a person centers themselves too much and expects the world to revolve around them, they are stepping into destructive territory.

The main character syndrome can also be mistaken for a similar term called main character energy. The latter has more positive connotations associated with the protagonist of a story, like confidence, charisma, and self-assurance. It’s a feeling of being in control of our own life story and embracing our uniqueness.
