There are nearly 8 billion people on this planet and each and every single one of us has their own definition of "good humor". Now, let's start from the beginning. This mysterious quality that allows folks to provoke laughter and provide amusement has previously undergone a few studies to offer some kind of explanation regarding its origin and purpose.
As of now, there are three main theories; the relief theory suggests that laughter and humor are ways to release the physical tension that we might've acquired, the superiority theory that was proposed by Plato and Aristotle suggests that by laughing at someone's misfortune we show our dominance, and lastly, the Incongruity theory that suggest that humor appears when two contrasting ideas are combined.
Despite all these possible explanations, being funny is truly a blessing. Folks that are so unintentionally witty don't only enhance their own lives but also allow others to experience a positive wave of emotions. After all, humor is like your mind's immune system – it protects you from all these harmful feelings, and allows you to live a healthy and carefree life.
Moreover, there are a few physical benefits that are triggered by laughter. For instance, it improves the function of blood vessels and increases your blood flow, and it increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies which betters your body's resistance. How cool is that?
While the basic humor is appreciated by the most, not everyone is fond of the dark genre. A lot of folks use dark humor to deal with stressful or unpleasant situations, and while it's understandable that some might not find it appealing – it's also very clear as to why many prefer this type of comedy. Life is hard and you never know what obstacle you're going to come across during your time on this planet, so the least you could do is lower your stress levels with a couple of jokes.
Whether it's a distraction, a coping mechanism or a way of helping you to reach that acceptance of the situation or event – the only thing that matters is that you get to feel better. There will always be someone who'll disapprove of your character, won't be satisfied with your looks or will hate on your humor but, in reality, there's no way you could satisfy every single person – even if you changed. There'll be always someone who will find your behavior offensive, but as long as you know that you're not hurting anyone, why not squeeze in a joke or two?
Besides, it seems like nowadays dark humor is actually quite popular. Whether it's because we've been through a couple of life-changing events and our minds are coping and trying to recover this way, or it's simply something that people find relatable – jokes like that often empower folks to open up and talk about sensitive and serious subjects.
Whether you're a fan of dark humor or not, it's important to give ourselves the permission to laugh or joke about the negative parts of our lives. After all, our existence doesn't only consist of beautiful and colorful things – but laughing could definitely get you a little bit closer to experiencing life at its fullest.

In addition to this, there's an app called Finch that is not only cute, but also a fully functional self-care app that asks you how you're feeling and responds accordingly. If you say you are doing badly, a link to a lifeline appears in the corner of your screen and you get things that encourage you to rant, write out your feelings, or use breathing exercises to calm yourself down.
Thanks for sharing. I looked it up and installed it yesterday. It's really nice!
I have finch and I highly recommend it.
