I get that sometimes, to directly counter undesired effects, some single things may be unequal in order to counter a greater, more systemic, inequality. Like preferring people belonging to groups who were dealt a bad hand by criteria that don't bear relevance (... nobody ever claimed equality THERE ... I wonder how come...), but in order to overcome inequality, more inequality, aside from such very specific and acute means, isn't gonna work out satisfying, but rather won't work out at all. And ... yeah, asking so often, for so long, that eventually your desired result is gonna show, violates just about every standard in data acquiration. It's like some professional criminal in the movies asking "What did you see here?", and the one asked says, like "I saw you bury a person-sized bag in the concrete below the to-be underground parking!", next frame it's two bags ... "What did you see happening here?" - "Nothing at all!". Yeah, that's how we date our data, so it dates what we already knowed before, but hadn't had data to point at. After all, just making it up and admitting would spare us the wasted time in dealing with such BS. Statistics have a reputation from not being done honest and thoroughly, from doing them wrong. Done right, no statistic ever claimed more than it could support, but gives a limited, but reliable, impression of whatever it is about.
