There are many resources available that teach house owners how to create tasteful, elegant, stylish, and trendy living spaces. However, they often forget the most important aspect: it has to feel good. A home must have a human touch, instill comfort and coziness, and make a person excited to return at the end of the day.
The Facebook group Creative Interiors & Exteriors Design Ideas is full of practical advice on home and garden design. The best part is that it’s coming from people actively living and further nurturing their spaces to make them the most inviting little corners of the earth. Scroll down to find their best posts, and don’t forget to upvote the ones that caught your eye the most!
While you’re at it, make sure to check out a conversation with Claire Douglas, DIY and home interiors blogger, and luxury designer Eddie Rider, who kindly agreed to share some tips on how to make our homes feel good.

Beautiful! Almost looks too good to be real (the cruddy thing about AI generated images, it makes it harder to appreciate real photos when you can’t tell the difference).
Incredible. Must be a joy to sit in there with the sun coming through!
They must not have hail where they live. Or if they do they are very brave.
It's listed as a 'garden house'. Maybe it's meant more for people, with just some plants inside.
Load More Replies...That’s what I was wondering. I’d be leaning towards AI but wouldn’t want to swear on it either way.
Load More Replies...This is awesome, but I personally think it would be better if the first big shelf on the left was a little longer and wider, so you could actually sit there and curl up with a book. Also would need to move the next shelf up,on that side, up a little higher, to give more head room.
Neat concept in a library maybe. Doesnt look like can lay or sit comfortably to read. In a home id rather be comfy.
And have a place to set my drink. But it looks like a world of fun for cats!
Load More Replies...I would have a team of goats to pull it through the countryside and I would make tea and tell fortunes for anyone that stumbled on my camp if this were my home.
It is, the artist is very clear about that, but they've put an impressive amount of time & effort into cleaning up the normal AI trash, & 99% of what they create would actually be feasible to build, it would just take a very particular skill set. There's already people trying to work out the patterns for the fairy crochet series.

To achieve a cohesive flow throughout your home, use the same palette of colors but in varying proportions using this ratio, and each space will feel unique yet connected to the others.”
What a great idea, and so attractive too. Beautiful, really, just like the dog might find near a pond or river. I want one for my own bathtub!
Absolutely stunning photo! I love how the colors are so bright, vibrant and beautiful.
As much as I love that idea, the mosquitoes within a 50 mile radius would find me and drain me dry!
I'm complaining about our temperatures being over 100 for the past month-guess no mosquitoes is a fair tradeoff. I forget about biting bugs until I travel
Load More Replies...This is cool. I would have to use bug spray and candles to keep the mosquitoes away.
Here are a few tips for mosquitos; hang a black net (it's harder to see than other colors), put up mosquito lamps, plant mosquito repellent flowers/plants , and spray for mosquitos depending on your areas restrictions.
Ah, to be skilled in woodwork… unfortunately, Technology and Design didn’t interest me in high school. Still, would happily hire someone to make something like this for me one day!
Re: mosquitoes, my SIL got a pest control thing that you attach a propane tank to and it's absolutely amazing
Nice idea but all the bugs in creation would be attracted to the lights.
She also suggests including layers of texture to add depth, interest, and a grounded feel to a space. Natural materials like wood, rattan, and seagrass are perfect for that.
For a home to be comfortable, she urges homeowners not to overlook lighting as well. “Layer your lighting with a mixture of ambient, task, and accent lights, as this will allow a space to be functional yet aesthetically pleasing and offer you the flexibility to relax and adapt in the space,” she explains.
Very cute. I would defo trip over the entryway in door frame at least once a day.
And I would bang my head on the trim on top of it. Good thing I am not actually a hobbit.
Load More Replies...Imagine if you were tripping and you came across this path!

I reckon you're right, but for different reasons. Look at the way the grass grows around the flowers - absolutely perfect, and not a single blade of grass or weed anywhere in the pebble path. There's no way to maintain this unless someone is going over that pathway with tweezers on a daily basis.
Load More Replies...Wow, I really like how they turned the yard and landscaping into an art piece.
I once had a rusted together cheap AF bike from when I was younger that I didn't really want to deal with. I was helping a friend move some stuff from his housing in a collage town, so I chucked the old bike in the back of the family truck and drove it down to meet him. Spent ten minutes visiting with the friend before getting to moving stuff and when I came back out, that rusty mess of paint and scrap was gone.
Load More Replies...Luxury designer Eddie Rider seconds the importance of color, texture, and lighting in our homes. “I think that warm colors and natural materials make a place truly comfortable and inviting. This would mean not using highly polished cabinets, countertops, or floors. When possible, use more floor lamps and less overhead recess.”
my jealousy of kids with bunk beds meets my jealousy of kids with tree houses
I do too, except for the cow (or whatever) head on the wall.
Load More Replies...I'm guessing the photo on the right, is the after Pic and they let their kids/whomever, to draw and color on the walls, since they knew it would be painted over, anyway? I actually think the before/left photo looks better.
I'm guessing so. When I ordered new carpeting it was going to take a little while for that and installation appointment, especially as covid was just dying down and things were just starting to get back to normal. I painted my kitchen table in the living room, lol.
Load More Replies...I guess I'm the minority bc I like the before. Just add a little structure and design focus to it and it's perfect.

Something else Douglas believes is important in the creation of a feel-good space is embracing the idea of dopamine decor and filling the home with carefully curated items that bring joy and evoke happy memories. “Unique and personal touches will always create a more inviting space than mass-produced, fast fashion. Invest in preloved items to save money and access better quality items than your budget might allow when buying new
The sad part of growing up is learning just how expensive nice furniture is; I’ve always wanted an egg chair or hanging chair, but one of the ones near me costs £200… and as a uni student still living at home, I don’t have that kind of money just yet.
Nice but same as the one before if you have lights, they need to be yellow to reduce the amount of flying insects.
Trouble is that in Britain, you would only be able to use this room about 1 week in a year.... And those aren't consecutive days.
Can I bring my toy cars/Hot Wheels over to play too?
Beautiful, but I suspect editing to intensive the color, I've never seen naturally occurring lavender bricks before; but there's always a first time for everything.
This is a real photo of Purple Heart vine, EXCEPT someone has added to the purple. Just like they do for people’s pics on magazine covers r air brushed or photoshop edits.
If it's the color you're after, shamrock looks alot like this, plus tiny white flowers
While this is a gorgeous photo, this is what I found when looking up Purple Heart Purple-hea...50d160.jpg
One of the most common design mistakes Douglas sees that throws off the whole atmosphere of the space is not taking into account the style of the home. “You don't want your rooms to feel themed or like a set because they aren't sympathetic to the house's style, so there is usually an element of compromise between picking an interior style you like and adapting it to fit your space.”
Very nice until the not so itsy bitsy spider comes rappelling down onto your head 😂
The problem with this is that it looks like it's bamboo... If it is, you're going to have new shoots appearing pretty much every day and your yard will soon be taken over by it. I like the idea, but try a different plant that doesn't spread as much....
I don't think those are sockets, I think that's the mount to secure it to the wall
Load More Replies...It would be awesome to have the table plug into the outlet and have charging ports at the front end!
I'd rerun the outlets into the top so they're usable. Route out a channel underneath for the cable and wire up to a junction box and painted outlet cover
She continues, “Before you get into the details of planning a room scheme, you need to take a step back and look at the space as a whole and also how it fits into the rest of the house because if you don't properly assess the room's needs, it doesn't matter how pretty it looks or how perfectly the shelves are styled; it won't work for you overall, and you won't be happy.”
Why not just post a 'Monster Family Wanted' sign with that space? Could fit a community of monsters under there!
Will this support the weight? If correctly anchored to concrete wall, yes. CMU wall, possibly with filled cores and correct anchors. Wood frame wall mounted to studs, absolutely not. With blocking, still not happening. That's alot of leverage hanging out there.
well ..... take the end of a 100 cm stick, hold it horizontal and put 1 Kg sugar on it somewhere in the middle....... Now imagine a bed 160cm wide and 200cm long with two adults ......
Load More Replies...Not only does this look so amazing but your feet and shins will be grateful. For you have saved them from the wrath of the dreaded, typical, bed frame.
I can see it bending from adults doing adult stuff in it.
Load More Replies...Great way to repurpose these, although for anyone whose too busy or just not crafty remember they can always be donated for others who need them
My grampa had antique crutches like that. They were half rotted & custom built to his 6'2" body. Old crutches were not adjustable so tall ones like he had were of no use to anyone decades later. This is a good repurpose in my opinion.
Load More Replies...Finding wooden crutches is the kicker. Most are made from aluminum (I have a dominant klutz gene and have several pairs. Now if I could just find a use for the booties.)
That is evil... I guffawed. If grandma is deceased, this is a loving tribute. That is not how I read it.
Load More Replies...My neighbours might not like us showering in the backyard but this is pretty cute :)
There is nothing like the feeling of showering outside!
I would imagine the wood has been treated to be waterproof, and it wouldn't take much effort to add a shower curtain.
Even though this looks really nice, i wonder about the practical use, at least in the climate zone where i live. If you are lucky, you could use it three months of the year.
Additionally, Douglas recommends against rushing into things. “Get samples of paints, materials, and textures and test them in every light, as they will look different at different times of the day as the sun moves and they will look different in natural vs. artificial light.”
She emphasizes again that people shouldn’t overlook the power of color and how it can affect our mood, energy, and happiness. “Consider how you want to use a space and how you want to feel when you're in it and look for colours that promote these feelings. For example, green is a great colour known for its calming effects, whereas red is very energizing and can easily lead to overstimulation of the senses.”
My wife spent a lot of time planting flowers in our back yard. Unfortunately none have a pleasant fragrance. My bedroom window opens onto this garden and I can no longer sleep in the summer with the window open as the musty plant odor is nauseating. So if you do a flower garden be sure to include a few plants that have a pleasing fragrance.
Load More Replies...For those who want to make rental properties more welcoming and comfortable, Douglas advises emphasizing the strengths of the home and distracting the eye from the negatives that can’t be changed. Moreover, she suggests, “Set a colour palette for styling, e.g., cushions, sofa covers, throws, stick-on tiles, rugs, art, flowers and plants, lamps, ornaments, books, accessories and freestanding furniture.”
I made a fire pit similar to this once. Unfortunately it was not functional because it would fill with water every time it rained and the water would not drain.
I would make a lid out of the top of an old charcoal grill. That way you can 1. be sure the fire is extinguished, and 2. protect it from the rain.
I've wanted to do this forever now. I'm gonna get my little 2yr old great niece and we're gonna do it together she would love tht.
“Add character by using a mixture of old and new by adding vintage and preloved,” she mentions. “Console tables or sideboards are also a great way to add style to a rental, as they are freestanding and come in a huge range of shapes and sizes, so they can be squeezed into narrow or shallow spaces.”
Lastly, Rider concluded by saying, “Think about your budget and plan, plan and plan ahead of time. Have a game plan. You do want an overall vibe and cohesiveness.”
This took a ton of work and math skills to figure out how many joists were needed.
What a wonderful way to incorporate your tree into the furniture!
I hope they remembered to provide some kind of direct rain/water runoff so the tree receives what it needs. Hope.

Load More Replies...How is the front corner staying up? Those big wood beams are too heavy for this to be real. I vote AI again..
I'd certainly want a post there, at least a small one, for support. Could always hang plants and whatnot on it.
Load More Replies...I do not mind AI for inspiration, but wish there was a disclaimer involved so people do not put resources into constructing something that would collapse/injure people. Also, maybe don't build a fire pit in a wood deck maybe 4" from where you drape blankets.
So do people with these outdoor cushion entertaining spaces take all the pillows inside every night? Otherwise they would just be a moldy damp mess.
There are specially made cushions for outdoors. Ours can get wet but they never mold. We just put them in the sun and they're fine.
Load More Replies...Yeah, this really torques me off. There are people who are actually creating wonderous things that are tangible and can be used. Everything starts with an idea or an accident and design is obviously a crucial part of the process, but this isn't even possible. I can't tell you how many awesome ideas I've had which had to be changed drastically or given up after my husband the builder got ahold of it.
It'll be even nicer when the mosquitos come out!

Load More Replies...I live in an apartment where the foyer has a wall from the floor to halfway & a support bean at the end entering into the dining room & living room areas. I did something like this with a tension shower rod hanging pearls, tiny mirrors, crystal pendants, sea glass, etc. Gorgeous! And I love the way the beads/crystals/etc. catch the foyer & dining room light fixtures! Win-win!
After the first windy day, strings and shells all tangled into a permanent knot.
That kid from The Giving Tree found a use for that old stump after all.
None of these things should be stored in the light. And potatoes and onions (alliums really) encourage each other to sprout, so they should be in separate cabinets.
I did not know that. It makes so much sense, though.
Load More Replies...Those look like those plastic hooks with the sticky tape on the back. If so, holy heck where did they find ones that strong???
Tesa, Pattex, T-Rex, Nano…. There are a few brands who sell extra strong double sided tape
Load More Replies...I really like the idea of these cute, intimate entertaining spaces, but there's no way I could sit here, comfortably or not, for even a drink, never mind an entire meal. If I did manage (I'm disabled)to sit on a pillow, I would definitely need some help getting back up.
It does look nice! But people who build this sort of thing seem to forget that not everyone is an agile 20-something. Will their parents handle this OK?
Load More Replies...AI - Verbium (the purple potted plants) need way more sun than that, and potted bushes to not tend to do well - why is one window completely different than the others? - on the middle window (which if this is a porch should be a door) how is that planter hung up? It has no fixtures
a massive red flag for AI generated garbage is asymmetry (like look at that rug!) not to mention how the hydrangea in the front has flower clusters that seemingly aren't attached to stems
Load More Replies...The purple plants are hydrangeas, they grow and bloom well with indirect light. You can see the arm that the planter is hanging from.
Wish I knew where the chairs are from…been looking for a year now for that style with 2 cushions…
this is a pretty basic porch. A trip to home depot would get you everything here. except maybe the rug. Probably have to go to world market for that.

there indeed are a lot of nonsense patterns (up one from the lower right corner has white smudges that are vaguely star shaped, I'm assuming they're supposed to be 5 pointed stars. one left from the lower right corner is very much a nonsense pattern. light blue in the middle of the bottom looks like it's supposed to have words on it, but the letters are nonsense) but at the same time, the trees, the sky, and the house all look fairly normal, so take that as you will

My Physical Therapist Reception area has a full wall of live moss done in like this. It's absolutely breathtaking and for me adds serenity to what could otherwise be a tense situation.

AI. Look at the fuzziness as the vine goes halfway up the post and the vine is cut in half 2 foot up from the ground. And no one has glass paneled fencing along a road.
And of course, you've never seen, or heard of, "glass" bus stops, either. You should visit Melbourne, dear, and hint! It's not just glass: https://www.toughglass.com.au/product/laminated-glass/

Never seen this type of fencing before. Any Panda's that are familiar with it, do you know if it has some kind of plexiglass or something in it? Just seems that they're so close to the road, that they would at least want the privacy, a typical stockade or plastic fencing can provide.
Yes... safety glass or scratch resistant plexiglass. I see similar styles a lot in areas of SoCal that have good views.
Load More Replies...I'm beginning to think us Panda's are being taken for a ride on the AI train!

AI doesn't seem to understand where humans need to walk. Plants in front of gates, tables in front of doors..

AI - what are the cushions being supported with that they are upright - projectors use light to create images, you wouldn't ever put lights surrounding the screen
I had cushions like that, they are attached to an L-shaped piece of wood, which means they stay like that. The lights are decorative and would be turned off when the movie starts.

They are surprisingly sturdy when done right. My ex used to live in a house the size of a shoe box. His dad, who is a master carpenter built him a fully functional kitchen made of hardwood where everything was either pull-out or could be lifted to create extra space. It was like a damn jigsaw puzzle but at the same time so cool! An added bonus was that he just needed to help out. All the raw materials were provided for him by his dad, design, construction, etc. Can't even begin to imagine the market value of all that work and high-quality hardwood.

Load More Replies...I think this is AI. If you look closely you can see the leaves of the tree reaching through the wall into the shower.
Certainly not a bath you could wash kids in and you'd have to get in it to turn the water on. Maybe it's just a posh ducky pond.
Definitely needs longer hand rails on the walls to enable safe entry into the bath tub. And yes, cleaning it 🤷?!
Display bath on the left. Shower for actual bathing on the right.
