Crafting is a wholesome way to spend your free time. It's creative, hands-on, and often oddly therapeutic. Whether you're painting, sewing, or just putting together a seasonal wreath, it's so satisfying to make something from scratch.
But not every DIY project goes as planned. You can have even the best intentions and still end up in a glitter-glued disaster. Enter the Facebook group 'That's It, I'm Craft Shaming!' The 264,000-member community is dedicated to celebrating the most hilariously terrible crafts on the internet. But don't take it the wrong way! The pictures aren't about tearing people down. Instead, they serve as reminders that perfection is overrated and failing is half the fun.

Load More Replies...My great great grandmother made a quilt out of old shirts and what she could find. This was late 1880s. All hand sewn. I so appreciate creative apparel.
Load More Replies...I made my father in law's ties into a quilt for my nephew's wedding present, I had been going to make a waistcoat for me (nobody wanted the ties, all 70s kippers in 70s colours). I'm glad I saved them
I LOVE it! What a great way to memorialize your late husband, with his ties that are made into a gorgeous dress! The only thing I would have changed are the one on the left, that sort of looks like a spotted leopard print, sort of, I'd move it more to the right shoulder, so it could follow the curve of the bodice, like the one on her left side is. See the one that is checkered? I like it's placement, and the one on the opposite side should follow suit. Otherwise, I give this beauty a 9 out of 10! I love this idea!
I didn't even realize it was made of ties at first! it's very pretty and flattering on her!
There are plenty of reasons to try out something new even if you're not good at it. "Engaging with arts and crafts is accessible and affordable. Options such as knitting and drawing require very few tools and can be engaging and creatively fulfilling activities," says Dr. Helen Keyes, cognitive psychologist and head of the school of psychology and sport science at Anglia Ruskin University.
A study by Keyes and fellow researchers has shown that engaging in creative activities can significantly boost well-being by providing meaningful spaces for expression and achievement.
My sons friend and his wife have a craft store and somebody makes all kinds of stuff with old dishes
Oh no! That is the china pattern my mom brought back from Europe in the 1950's! I am still using it!
Well I've seen lots of trampolines sit unused because the kids grew bored with them, gives them a new lease on life
honestly, a pretty creative way to re-use one. Especially considering the number of these that end up in landfills.
The scientists used data from a major national survey in the UK between 2019 and 2020 to investigate how creative activities might be impacting life satisfaction, controlling for variables known to affect well-being, such as gender, age group, health, employment status, and deprivation.
In total, the researchers analyzed a sample of 7,182 participants aged 16 and over from the annual Taking Part survey conducted by the UK’s Department for Culture, Media, and Sport, which explores how the public engages with these activities.
Keyes says, "We kept our analysis to arts and crafting at a broad level, rather than focusing on specific hobbies, as we know that people's preferences vary and they will find the craft or creative activity that works best for them."
Adorable! And they look like they might be easy to make, too - bit of green sculpey, marbles, wires, seed beads. Hmmm....do I need another project right now?
I don't, but I really want to make these 🤣

OK... that's one for the "questionable ideas executed very well" thread. It's KINDA neat?
It's a perfect craft project for kids learning about recycling.
Load More Replies...It really is isn’t it , they would look ace as flower pots , either in the house or garden m n what a clever use of the lids I use em as water pots for the bee,s n butterflies pop em on the outdoor raised beds n pots ,but this I want some lol
Load More Replies...hey, points for being creative. (though, might be time to switch to a single reusable water bottle) ; )
i appreciate the effort and the concept but it would really have to be completely dry paper trash/recycling only, anything else would just get lodged in all those indentations and the holes between caps and it would get gross and messy in a big hurry
More than 37% of respondents confirmed they had taken part in at least one craft activity over the last year, and they showed more happiness and a sense of life being worthwhile.
"All forms of art can be beneficial in boosting mental health. [These] benefits include [an] increase in self-esteem, reduction in anxiety/stress, improving communication, and fostering creativity," agrees Dr. Frank Clark, a psychiatrist with Prisma Health and a poet, who wasn't involved in the study.
My house is full of crystals ,where can I buy this I want one please 😋love it ,in purple if possible amethyst, ❤️
I upvoted to cancel the downvote someone gave you because I'd buy one too. These are fantastic.
Load More Replies...This took a lot of time and effort! Would also be really pretty done with jade beads, so it really looks like a string-of-pearls plant.
Depending on where you live, it can be hard to get jade. Burmese speckled with black would be great, which I picked up in the 1990s. This is spectacular wire wrapping (I've done it; this is easily a 100+ hours of work). I've had these cacti and I just call them bubbles.
Load More Replies...I believe the plant is called string of pearls. I love it! I don't think I'd be able to make one, but I would definitely buy it! (Edited to include product info) Looked up the company; it's 24" long and $150. If I want one, I guess I'll have to figure out how to make it.
You might say she's a shady character. (Naw, sorry... I should've just left good alone.)
Load More Replies...OK - its all fun and creativity until she starts walking around the house! Just sayin' ... 😱
Well executed but I think it was a waste of a really pretty dress. But that's my opinion.
Keyes suggests that not just individuals, but the broader society should make use of these benefits. "Governments and national health services might consider funding and promoting crafting or even socially prescribing these activities for at-risk populations as part of a promotion and prevention approach to well-being and mental health," the psychologist explains.
"Engaging with crafting is something that is relatively easy to introduce into your life."
Omfg NOOOOOO , I’m one for using anything I can repurpose as pots , raised beds out in my garden n veggies patch. It THIS JUST NO “shudders “
good drainage for those jade plants, with that much dirt to seep down through!
Me, too! I actually started looking around the living room, thinking about where I might hang it. I think it would look good over the large aquarium, if we move the mirror to the dining room.

That is a hospital's no slip grip sock! Yellow is for fall risks patients!
An example of knick knacks gone too far. No wonder I can't stand them.
If you don't think of yourself as particularly capable, Clark has four suggestions to tap into your creative side:
- Reframe your thinking to be optimistic about your potential;
- Do not be afraid to take risks to try a new activity. As you can see from the pictures, everyone has to start somewhere;
- Foster relationships with people who are in a creative space that are interesting to you;
- And think about what you did creatively as a child and do it again.
JUST WHY !! ok this is the first one so far that’s a wft ,pure EWWWWWW🤢
It reminds me to an old fine china/porcelain piece in a museum. If I remember well, it was a steak platter, decorated with a cockroach. Yeah, a two centuries old, fine porcelain, hand-painted roach.
Christmas cacks are a bit like yule logs.

You could get arrested for carrying an offensive weapon depending on the circumstances.
It’s probably more of a defensive weapon, if you actually think about it.

you know what, sure. they look nicely made, and are very nicely presented.
I've made jewellery from bread tags, but I used my Dremel to shape them first
as someone who wears nails like these, there are MANY toilet challenges 😭😭😭
Load More Replies...Now I wear funky jewellery lol. It this is like 20steps TO FAR NOPE FROM ME !
i have to keep my nails trimmed down super short because otherwise i bite them, and i do not understand how people function with even basic rounded points like a quarter of an inch past the tip of their finger. these extreme ones that are like five inches long with a bunch of stuff stuck on them would drive me off the deep end almost immediately.
All I can think of is the number of pathogens she's carrying around under those claws.
What? It's a lot nicer than that c**p Kanye West puts out! All of his torn and clothes riddled with holes. THIS--THIS is really nice!
Which specific clothing part is it even made out of? Like sleeves and legs?
Complete with the wig Bette Davis wore in the film "What ever happened to Baby Jane?"
If this is art, I still have some kindergarten art from my son that you can buy

Welp, I have one of those x-rays of my own! Same leg, too. Won’t need this one. D**n you ice!
this is a very specific idea this person had and executed
I have seen this done right and they looked great. Instead of flattening, you are supposed to heat them until they are soft enough to bend around a round form
Why knitting needles. Probably cheaper to buy the metal meant for stamping.
I've seen this done well, and this is not it, but keeping working on it?
What a waste of cactus skeletons. They could have been used for plants on something similar.
When I saw the doll arms as flowerpots, I wondered what they'd done with the heads. Now I know.
put a line of these by the driveway and see how long it takes your neighbors to call the police
Oh don't laugh--this is me! I glue these AB rhinestones on EVERYTHING!
Translation: this book felt into the kid's science project, so now we try to monetize the accident.
I mean, at least it destroyed the book. I hate those books.
I was actually looking for this comment haha. I don't support destroying books except when it's SJM or Colleen Hoover.

I love these!~. I'm going to glue rhinestones on mine. Thanks for the idea!! I love this, really! I mean, come on folks....when you get to your 60's, it's depressing to have to take all of this cr*p. I see no harm in making the bottles prettier~!
You're lucky. I'm already on a bunch of medications in my 30s.
Load More Replies...If you collect perfume bottles but want to both use them and keep the bottles, this would be a nice way of displaying them!
this is the only good perfume bottle to have around me, although i'm betting it still stinks if you open it
That's the charge for removing it from your memory. Quite reasonable, really.
Load More Replies...Oh boy that’s just awful ,well unless a 3 yr old made it then it’s ace , but not to sell at that price , deluded to what lol

That looks like it’s been stored in a mouldy house for decades lol it’s awful
Technically speaking, that's very nice for a first attempt! No bubbles, no wet spots, no fill lines, level cut off and nice sanding on the bottom. It looks as if they'd bought it from a website..
i'm into it, but i'd also rather just eat the jelly beans. i'd do this with the coconut and licorice ones that i always throw out, though.
It does NOT! IT's cute, it's sweet. I bet you can't do better!
Load More Replies...Sound deadening, great for studio walls. The paint protects the egg cartons from humidity.

I think you should burn it in a hole twenty feet deep then fill the hole with concrete.
No, jump in after it and get someone else to do the concrete

Load More Replies...Are people really so oblivious that they think this level of incompetence is worth money?
Beethoven is clearly mad the artist is trying to sell that for actual money.
So you are selling a piece of cardboard with some string and pegs that was used at a wedding , tacky much.
They were hanging bags of potato chips on it at their wedding. What more could you expect from them?
Load More Replies...Now why would ANYONE buy that , when they likely could make their own and do a far better job as well ,
Just a tip !! Use spray paint , it’s water proof and gives a far far better finish , but the concept is fun
The descriptions are cracking me up - "probably for outside" LOL
Reminds me of "Hope Floats" - the mom made taxidermy things like this... LOL
Something tells me that is actually the least tacky thing in that room.
Just saying, has anyone seen Lady Eowyn lately?...
Load More Replies...I’d have used that a few yrs back lol as a saddle rack in the tack room , quite fun tbh
There's a good idea in there struggling to get out. Ah no, it's finished struggling, it's given up entirely.
I guarantee this person definitely also has signs that say Live Laugh Love and God Bless America.
If this was COMPLETELY filled, it wouldn't be a bad project. This was just lazy.
Ok I may be in the unpopular opinion here, but I love this and would totally put this in my house! (maybe not for this price though)
I have an almost pathological aversion to the high low bit on there. So it kind of makes me nauseous
This isn’t even a craft. They just wanted some see through storage. It shouldn’t be on this list.
Leave aside the tackiness of the idea -- that's just cráppily done (pun intended).
They didn't make this. You can buy these 3D printed toothpaste toppers online. There's one where Yoda spits out the paste too.
On the other hand, America is in sore need of blessing.

Load More Replies...Alot of people in Australia love these things. I personally think they're F.u.c.k.i.n.g s.t.u.p.i.d. When the female one was in Canberra, it's all anyone was talking about, at work, on the Radio, on the TV. Could not escape it. People at work asking hey you gonna go see the Skywhale... My standard answer after the 50th time being asked was "I'd rather scoop my own eyes out with a teaspoon"
"But how will they know it's a female whale?" ..."The bọọbs, lipstick and longer hair, of course!" - any dis ne y executive before the start of a new movie.
Professional Western Australian Opinion: wtf is this I don't want to live here anymore. I don't even want to know. This is an abomination to the existence of the universe. This should be higher on the list
Top left, are they trying to mate? Is that the male's ....appendage? Are those fish part of the mating ritual? What the eyeball burning he11 is going on?
Where? Am I blind, or is there NOT a corset in this picture? Or is the wire thing supposed to be the corset? I'm confused....
The censor is too busy censoring words that aren’t even swears.
Load More Replies...I think this looks good. But no one could wear it. Maybe it’s more of a sculpture statement piece…..more art than craft.

Oh dear, I would love that, and it's just my colours
Load More Replies...This is just a kid activity idea, not a craft. You wash the door or window after.
Otherwise yes, but painter's tape doesn't always come off neatly, especially when exposed to the sun. At worst, a couple of days will cause the glue to stick to the surface or the tape will harden and come off in small strips. I do painting jobs for friends and acquaintances and I always emphasize that they don't tape anything beforehand.

This could be good for a pediatrics nurse though :)
Load More Replies...I can see this being something someone made when they quit drinking. So I think it’s great.
More like they made it having just finished the bottle....
Load More Replies...I like the fact that you can tell this wasn't just some single-use piece of themed furniture by the spray paint on the grass. They actually thought this paintjob would actually make the chair more desirable.
The perfect chair to offer the neighborhood homophobe at the barbeque when he stops by uninvited.
And I don't mean the way some people use sick to mean good. I mean sickening.
Load More Replies...Actually, it looks like an improvised cholera bed. A bucket would be placed under the hole to catch the effluvia...
Load More Replies...What *exactly* am I looking at here? I don't want to jump to conclusions, but are those the tails of some poor animal???
opossum tail pens ? . I woke up this morning wanting this very thing. I just don't know what to do with them when am not using them.
You display them in living room so they can traumatize any guests and make them wonder if you're some sort of niche opossum serial killer as one does with pens made of animal body parts.

Load More Replies...I am male and supposedly see less colours than females , but this is not purple.
I had a friend whose husband stayed out late drinking with his buddies one too many times. So the morning after, she made him green eggs and ham for breakfast (though it was closer to lunchtime when he got up). His hungover a*s took one look at what was in his plate and ran to the bathroom to puke. Ah the magic of food coloring.
This looks like gray paint. Or maybe some kind of petroleum by-product.
But only if they’re fresh. If they’ve been hanging on it the whole time it’s been sitting in the garage or attic, and they’re now considered vintage, you can keep them.
