This is still very true for "hafus" (mixed race) and at least to some extent black people. They generally like white Americans and Europeans, though. The apartment renting thing isn't about race, though. Many landlords have gotten burned by foreigners taking off and not paying full rent. Since they can't chase you back to your home country and demand you pay what is owed, they just won't take the chance.

Happened to me too. Thought it was a date and ended up being taken to an Amway seminar. Then got taken home to her mother who sat me down and tried to coerce me into signing up. Took a lot of effort to get out of there.

Depends. There are some varieties, like Mexican Cream, where you should definitely eat the seedy part (but spit out the seeds) because it is so delicious and there are not too many seeds. Other varieties have too many seeds and you eat the part between the seeds and the skin (although you can eat the skin too). As for "worms", yes, you can get lots of fruit fly larvae in them, unless the trees are netted properly to exclude the fruit fly.
