No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, rejection is something that everyone will face in life. Over. And over. And over again! That’s just how life works. So, instead of complaining about how unfair life is, it’s better to adopt a growth-oriented mindset and become more resilient to whatever life might throw at you.

That being said, some rejections are so brutal that it hurts to even read about them. To show you just how bad things can get, Bored Panda has collected some of the worst relationship and work-life rejections from all over the internet. Keep scrolling if you want to wince, cringe, and feel sorry for a whole bunch of strangers.

"Application fee"? First time I hear of this, never had to deal with that. However, for sure there is a box you ticked, agreeing to this. But if they reject you, why would they cash a fee?

There's amazing fantasy writer in my country. She had her stories on the internet, and people suggested that she should get it published. She tried many times, and always got rejected. Then she won award for her writing. It's prestigious award, one that should help talented writers to become professionals . So, she tried to get her award-winning story published - and got rejected again.

I'm working my way towards 500 rejections. It takes a while with the average rejection arriving two to six months after submission (once two years, and actually I forgot I sent them a story), and simultaneous submissions not allowed. Been at it for 24 years. I'll quit when I'm dead (maybe.)

Rejection rarely—if ever—feels pleasant. It’s something that everyone goes through in life, whether they come from a privileged or disadvantaged background. Often, rejection is less about you and more about the other person’s circumstances. Even if it sometimes feels like the opposite! A healthy perspective to have is that rejection, just like failure, is an opportunity to grow, mature, and improve as an individual, rather than taking the criticism incredibly personally.

Of course, not taking things personally and protecting your self-esteem is easier said than done. Especially when you can’t read someone’s mind and figure out the exact reasons why they rejected you. However, the more risks you take, the more you put yourself out there, the more new things you try and people you meet, the more accustomed you become to hearing ‘no.’ You develop a thicker skin. You become more resilient. And getting through a bunch of ‘nos’ is how you get to the ‘yes’ you want and need both in business and in relationships.

    MY WIFE!!!!!! YOU S1UT!!!!!

According to Indeed, rejection has an unavoidable, deeply social element to it that is a core part of the human experience.

“From an evolutionary standpoint, pain is necessary. When humans were hunter-gatherers, they lived in groups to maximise their chances of survival. Being ostracised from the group was dangerous, as individuals would have to fend for themselves. This created an innate fear of rejection that encouraged them to change their behaviour to ensure they could stay in the group.”

I’ve nothing against letter templates, heck, I’ve written so, so many in marketing and as a business analyst to ensure communication is polite and professional. What I learned over time was set these hints up as a non-printing field because, guaranteed, people are always going to skim through the process and fail to include the suggested content and to delete the hint.

I wish I would've sent an email like that when I was invited to an interview at a large multinational company, which turned into a 4+ hour ideal with 4 people, and not until the final one (after sitting in a room for over 4 hours) was I asked if I wanted anything to drink or to use the restroom (go figure the last interviewer was a woman, all the rest men). Then after that they rejected me.

Some healthy, positive ways of handling rejection include:

    1. Taking the time to process your emotions
    2. Looking after yourself
    3. Analysing the situation, instead of just yourself
    4. Not assuming that the rejection was personal
    5. Considering the possibility that you weren’t actually rejected
    6. Protecting, building up, and nurturing your sense of self-worth
    7. Talking to people you trust about your experience
    8. Seeing the situation as an opportunity for growth
    9. Making alternate plans to reach your goals

Trope. Men put on what they think is charm t o attract their object of desire. We all see through your bs and you often look like you have given up on life. Self fulfilling prophecy you created and now shame women for not interested. Then you blame them for making you creepy and gross. One of the many reasons why men remain sigle.

I ask this as a sincere question for the sake of discussion rather than to antagonise: If a man posted a statement as you've written above but with the genders reversed would you agree with them, or at least support their right to say things like that? For perspective I in no way shape or form support the behaviour of the defective individual in the OP nor any other person who chooses to act in that way, nor saying that kind of behaviour shouldn't be called out.

Indeed explains that rejection can make you feel angry, ashamed, and disappointed. In that extremely emotional context, it’s easy to slip up and make decisions that make the situation even worse.

So, it’s best to take a break, step away from the situation, and cool off.

It’s only then that you can begin to process the situation calmly and make rational decisions about how to respond adequately.

Knew a guy that would always talk trash about my sign. are so impulsive. Until he found out his favorite celebrity was born a day after me. Once I tried piinting out that, if it was the alignment of the planets when you were born, how could two people who were born on both sides of the international date line, have different personalities. He said I wasnt capable of " deep logic ", but he expected that because people with my star sign were not known as deep thinkers.

Honestly, at the "Idk what's your sign?" I would have lost interest. The "what's your sign" question should be one of those little curiosities you ask when you're already dating. Not a gate check

In the meantime, it’s incredibly important that you take proper care of your physical and mental health.

Give yourself the tools and the space to react to stress in a better way.

That means getting plenty of rest, moving and exercising frequently, eating nutritious food, avoiding unhealthy habits, spending time with people you like and love, meditating, being grateful for what you have, and spending time on your hobbies and passion projects.

While rejection can feel devastating if it derails the awesome plans and goals you’ve cooked up in your imagination, it’s hardly ever fatal.

So long as you get back up and dust yourself off, there are always other opportunities in life.

“Use rejection as a process of elimination and keep trying new routes until your plan is successful,” Indeed suggests. “With an alternative plan, rejection doesn't seem like the end of the world but simply an indication to pursue a different route. When you prepare for potential rejections, you can handle them much more effectively, as you're ready to achieve your dreams or goals in a different way.”

Yeah, those women who reject really decent men because they are "too nice" or "too sweet". The ones that are into the "bad boys". That is not love. That is trauma-bonding. The are subconsciously attracted to the same a*****e dynamic they have known from an early age on. The body reacts to that what is familiar to us.

Verywell Mind points out that rejection can be emotionally intense to the point that it hurts physically, not just mentally.

Meanwhile, one danger of rejection is that it might make you make wrong, large-scale conclusions based on very isolated incidents.

Rejection may not be as bad as it seems.

For instance, if you get rejected by a romantic interest or a large corporation, you might suddenly decide that you’re bad at relationships or not qualified for that particular job industry.

In reality, however, you might have simply been a bad fit in that specific situation.

U.S. bars get in bigger trouble than the USER of a fake ID if an ID check is run on them. U.S. bars get official ID sheets showing every state's official driver's licenses. They do not get these for other countries. If they accept a foreign ID, and get an ID check run on them, they are completely hosed if that foreign ID turns out to be false.

    Jrog
    Community Member
5 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

That's simply not true. Bars are NOT liable for approving fake IDs, if they can reasonably pass a cursory check. The person using a fake ID would be liable for a whole slew of criminal charges, but the bouncer does not risk anything if he put a minimum of effort in checking and at worst a warning or a nominal fine. NOT CHECKING, or accepting a CLEARLY forged ID on the other hand could lead to the license being revoked. Bars are also not issued any official list; they can purchase the Us Gov. “ID Checking Guide”, or an electronic ID scanner or use some specific apps, but a visual check would be legally enough.

You got rejected at the bar, because some bartenders believe that people out of the US do not tip, so they will give you a line like, "Sorry, need to see a driver's license" knowing fully well you don't have one. I have seen this done before in NYC many times.

As per Verywell Mind, if you want to cope with rejection in a healthy way, you should:

    1. Let go of blaming yourself and avoid rumination

    4. Remember all of your past successes

Seriously. I‘m not even into Star Wars, but the idea of OP sitting there, eyes sparkling, gushing about his favourite characters and favourite moments makes me all fuzzy and warm. If I see people being passionate about something, I‘m always happy for them, and happy with them.

They Invited Me For A First Interview And It Went Awesome

It's something a lot of s**t managers could learn from. Scientific fact: 80% of all managers were hired or promoted for the wrong reasons, and are a detriment to their company. When I read that, it took 2 seconds to think of my work history ti realize it's pretty accurate. The best ones I've hed? Definitely understood servant leadership.

Haha! I just got a rejection because they are looking for someone with "management experience". I've been in leadership roles the last 15 years and my last 7 titles all ended with "Manager". I figure, if someone that dumb is in a leadership role there, I dodged a bullet.

I’ve had that s**t with hiring managers rejecting candidates - they ask for ABC, I give them ABC, and suddenly they’re like “nah”. Usually for some bs reason like they just didn’t like the candidate’s “vibes” or worse, ethnicity.

Sometimes the whole interviewing process is just theatre they have to go through to look like they were following fair hiring practices before they give the job to the person they intended to give it to, the inside hire they picked before the job ads went out, or were told to give it to, the boss’ kid or new squeeze or side piece. That’s why truly qualified and absolutely perfect for the job applicants, who should be the company’s #1 choice for the job, get these ridiculous rejection letters instead of congratulations letters containing good salary and benefits offers and “When can you start?”

Got Rejected For Asking For The High End Of Their Marketed Range

Screenshot of a brutal rejection message explaining hourly rate does not align with the candidate's request.

I have a bachelor's degree, 5+ years of professional experience, and made $45/hr at my last job(did not mention that to her).
The marketed range for this entry-level role was $17-24/hr, and I asked for 24.
I am so upset. I live in socal, I live on my own, $24 is the closest to a livable wage here.
Had a perfect interview with them and they asked me what amount I would feel comfortable getting paid and obviously I thought to myself “hmmm probs the livable wage please!” And said $24 without hesitation.
    I hate it here.

$24 an hour would barely cover rent and groceries here in Seattle area. You'd make too much for food stamps but would have a hard time budgeting for food cooked at home and brown bagged to work. And forget a car. At thar wage, you can't afford insurance, maintenance, and gas.

I had an interview after being out of work for 6 months, and she snuck in "how much are you expecting" at the very end of the interview, and I was caught off guard, and without putting any thought into it, asked for barely more than the minimum wage in my state, as in less than 25 cents more. Then backtracked and said or a dollar or two more than that. Well, they offered me the job, at the heartbreakingly low first rate. They did say that they would give me a raise after 3 months, and I'm almost there, but after being there 2 months I know that my low ball rate was one of the reasons they hired me, cuz getting money from the office manager is very difficult. I'm pretty sure my raise at the end of 3 months will not be enough for the role I actually play.

It's not what you can live with but what they can. There pay is based on what they save the company. Now that the Government is kicking people off Stamps and Sec. 8 at the same time deporting non-citizens there will be a spot for them to work at sub-human wages.

This does not sound anything like my experience. I am retired and live off my savings and cannot rent most places because they require 3 times the rent in Monthly income, proven with pay stubs. I have had to move several places on the east coast and it is the same everywhere I have looked. Many places will not even let you submit your bank statement. They would rather see a paystub that you may or may not get next week, if you get laid off, than the results of years of prior salary that you already earned. I can only rent from individual owners who are flexible; and am always rejected by management companies, despite having multiple times the annual rent in my account and an over 800 credit score. Maybe they are different in NYC but I'm pretty sure I don't want to pay what they charge in Brooklyn for a place that will fit a 3 generation family!

The toxic masculinity thing actually has training courses on how to respond to mates this way, as no form of rejection is acceptable or to be tolerated, in a kind way, by a so-called “alpha male”. It helps to keep in mind that men attracted to this nonsense, along with their trad-miso-misandrists cohorts, are fundamentally frustrated & unhappy people who genuinely lack sustained joy in their lives.

I have been rejected quite a few times for not having social media. I think some women think you're lying, or that you are trying to hide something. When really I just don't care for it. FYI, I also got rejected from a job at Meta for not having a social media account. I am an engineer BTW, not a social media marketing person (where that might have made sense).

Got Rejected From A Dream Job Because I Have Non Conventional Male Look

Man with glasses and a beard wearing a green plaid shirt, shown in front and side views, illustrating brutal rejections concept.

Piercings and earrings were taken off. Beard was fresh from the barber (interview was 7 days ago) Went in this shirt and black pants. Job was "typist" as the English translation says; I'm not a native speaker, so a person who uses a PC to type documents in court while people talk, especially the judge. Working currently as data entry/QA administrator (since March 2019).

You wore a flannel shirt to a job interview? With a man-bun and shaggy beard? And you're surprised you didn't get the job? Come on man, did your parents do zero education about how to dress for success? You look like you would serve me a latte at a Starbucks. You don't look professional at all. These things matter in many jobs. They just do. Don't expect the world to change to fit you, it ain't gonna happen.

"I have alot of resentment and don't know what to do." Therapy. Erase your dating app for a time, take care of you first. You're not available until you feel better about yourself. And resenting others who reject you is expecting reward from a stranger. They don't owe you a thing. And you're worth love, so find it in you, not look to dates to validate your worth.

I looked at her profile and I just say that I understand why an employer would not hire her. Her twitter is very open with her job details, as well as her sociopolitical opinions and personal life. My friend, that's why Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook are three different platforms. Also, she goes into details of a few interactions with clients and employers that are MASSIVE red flags, borderline defamatory, and in which she does not even come out in very good light.

The worst one is a 2020 controversy where she claimed to have done all the art for a project and not have been paid nor credited (not true), with the employer threatening her for legal action to shut her up. From responses from the developer and the publisher, looks like she did a very small part of the initial work, left the project, claimed royalties on profits (not revenues) and went on a strategy of legal harassment and badmouthing the studio on twitter harming their sales (thus preventing profits). THIS ALONE would make you unemployable in such a niche business even if you are in the right.
