50 Facepalm-Worthy Fails That Might Discourage You From Shopping This Black Friday (New Pics)
Interview With ExpertWhen I was a kid, Black Friday seemed like a magical event that I could only dream about participating in. All I knew is that when I went to sleep with my tummy full of a delicious Thanksgiving feast, dedicated shoppers were waking up at 2 a.m. to line up outside of department stores and fight for the best deals on TVs, toasters and trendy toys.
Nowadays, Black Friday has evolved into a worldwide online and in-store event. But apparently, there are plenty of ways that it can go wrong! Below, you’ll find some of the funniest photos of Black Friday fails that Bored Panda has gathered from all over the internet. So enjoy scrolling through these silly pics, and keep reading to find a conversation with Arfa Nazeer, Blog Strategist and creator of She Means Blogging!

Black Friday Sales At Target
“Target math” is notorious for violating basic marketing principles.

Or Cardiff, or Llanelli, or Carmarthen. Actually anywhere in Wales these days. Even some of the smaller villages have this issue. And it's not just alcohol now, substance misuse is rife even in the most out of the way places.

Thank you, I was about to ask, why are they doing Black Friday in Wales?

Right after Thanksgiving, a day of expressing gratitude and surrounding yourself with loved ones, comes Black Friday - a day dedicated to consumerism. While most shoppers are looking for great deals on Christmas presents for those near and dear to them, the day is usually anything but peaceful. We’ve all heard stories of shoppers being brutally injured, and nowadays, it can be hard to even find deals that are worth it.
But the evolution of the day doesn’t stop shoppers from trying to get the best bargains they can find, even if that means ordering them online instead of leaving their homes at the crack of dawn with a Thanksgiving hangover. And lucky for us, sometimes those shoppers manage to snap photos of hilarious fails that they’ve encountered in stores!
What A Deal
It Just Happens To Break On Black Friday
People on black Friday are crazy. If they didn't like the price someone might have taken their anger on it or some employee. I'm ok with it being broken on black Friday.
This Is How Black Friday In Luxembourg Looks Like
The price tag is from September, not sure how I'm supposed to understand?
They don't ever try to hide it. Remind me when a new Sinsay store opened in my hometown. Their clothes screamed 's**t quality' at first sign, and original prices were hidden under sticker. When I peeled sticker off, original price was much lower.
To learn more about Black Friday and how to take advantage of the day, we got in touch with Arfa Nazeer, Blog Strategist and creator of She Means Blogging. First, we wanted to know how she typically chooses to participate in Black Friday.
“As I run an online business at She Means Blogging, I make purchases on discounts and also find the best offers for my readers,” Arfa shared. “For example, buying any online tool, digital product or any subscription. Similarly, I find the best deals for growing bloggers, so they can make affordable choices when they are at the beginning stage. I also make a separate listing for my subscribers, so that they find the best deals in their inboxes. Who doesn’t like saving some money, right?”

The Benefit Of Living In Fl Before Black Friday I Guess...this Was Outside Of My Best Buy In Tampa
This used to be a thing 50-60 years ago in Eastern bloc countries. Stores had a very limited quantity of items like electronics, so people were sometimes camping in front of stores, as they hoped to be one of the first lucky ones to purchase before the item sold out. I'm pretty sure that western media used it as example of "appalling living conditions in the east". But look, people in 2024 do this to save a few dollars. Ridiculous.
The only reason I would do this is for medical reasons and sadly, yes--an American here.
Can’t Reply Stop To Opt Out Of Spam Texts
I used to work in IT for a large company. The marketing people always used to complain that the junk they sent out was being blocked by people's spam filters and wanted me to "fix" it so that wouldn't happen. They didn't like my solution, which was for them to stop sending out spam.
Replying tells them that you are a live person and they will continue sending messages or even add you to their call list, right? Just block it.
We were also curious about any Black Friday deals that Arfa has snagged in the past that saved her a huge chunk of change. “I got myself an online course at a 50% discount last year,” she told Bored Panda. “As for this year, I’m planning to grab a website theme and maybe find some office stuff on sale.”
Black Friday
This is why I don’t even bother with Black Friday. If companies are going to make up holidays just to get us to buy things than I’d rather not participate 😂
I don't go because I prefer not to be trampled. Plus, if I'm home that's one less customer for the employees to worry about.

I've seen them like this. Usually can be found on the back, in a low corner. It is done when stores operate in different regions, by different names, but really are the same entity.
Doorbuster is not a store. Its a term here in the US for items that are massively marked down (supposedly) that are put right by the door in a store. So that you bust the door down for them. Which is literally what some people do
Load More Replies...What advice does Arfa have for shoppers who want to make the most of Black Friday this year? “The first thing I would say is to clearly know what you have in your wish list,” she shared. “Before making your purchases, it’s important to do your research to compare the items and deals. If it’s a physical item like a piece of furniture or a display thing, I would definitely suggest checking stores and seeing it yourself. Otherwise, it is a smart choice to do online purchases, as it saves a whole lot of time and gives you the best discounts from the comfort of your home.”

Since when does UPS use an open trailer pulled by an off road cart? This must be a private delivery inside a gated community or something. Real UPS drivers use a UPS branded truck/vehicle, unless it is UPS fulfillment which is done by contract employees, aka not UPS drivers
For what it's worth, there is no evidence in the photo that this is actually a UPS truck. We are basing it solely on the drivers brown shorts from what I can see. And it's an Amazon package. Not sure about elsewhere, but here in the US it's pretty much only Amazon now that delivers their own packages

In Montreal UPS doesn't even bother to try to deliver. They straight up stop in front of your building, send an update for the pkg info, then drive away and you have to travel 40 minutes away to pick up your stuff. If I see something I ordered will be shipped UPS I try to cancel it
If it is a gated community. LOVE IT. Thats exactly what those twats deserve
Amazon (and most other retailers) don’t send items in waterproof boxes. UPS is the one who chose to drag them through the rain. How is that Amazon’s fault?

Police are saying that it's a miracle that no one was seriously injured when an S-U-V crashed into a store at the Austintown Plaza on Tuesday. Several ambulances were dispatched to the Plaza at 6000 Mahoning Avenue just before 6:00 p.m. First responders arrived to see the S-U-V on its side inside the Dots clothing store. The vehicle went over the sidewalk and flipped over a brick apron below the plate glass window. "It was crazy. I was behind the desk and I just heard a loud noise, and it just went right in the window," said Dots Employee Stacy Ramsey. "I just thought I need to see if everybody is okay, and I heard a little boy crying and I just thought 'oh my gosh." Police say, a mom and her son, believed to be eight or nine years old, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The woman was trapped inside the S-U-V, and rescuers had to cut away the wreckage to free her. https://www.wfmj.com/story/27732623/victims-walk-away-after-s-u-v-crashes-into-austintown-store

Canadian Tire Sure Knows How To Put On A Sale
Not everyone gets to spend the holiday season shopping, though. Some are forced to spend their days working behind a cash register or stocking stores to prepare for the seasonal crowds. According to TechTarget, retailers hire an additional 400,000-500,000 employees each year for the holiday season. In fact, Amazon alone announced that they planned to employ 250,000 additional workers to make sure that everyone’s Christmas presents are delivered on time.
Screaming, I'm In Asda And People Misread The Sign Thinking The Pringles Were 35p. They Were Fighting & Clamoring Like Old School Black Friday. People Put Whole Crates On Their Trolley. Now Customer Services Is Overrun With Pringles Refunds
Isn’t the point of Black Friday to illuminate those in our society that think a quarter of something is more than 1/3???? It would track they wouldn’t have the cognitive abilities to actually read the tag then deduce its meaning.
Once I worked at a grocery store. We had a display table with cookies and donuts. Somehow the cookie price sign fell off and disappeared. The donuts were cheaper, but the price sign for the donuts clearly said “donuts” and was also directly in front of the donuts, nowhere near the cookies. The fight I had with this lady when she tried to buy cookies and argued they should be the cheaper donut price, hooo boy 😂 she could not accept me saying “that price sign says it’s for the donuts, not the cookies.” To her, the closest price sign to an item should be the price, regardless of which item it specifically refers to.
That's what you get for putting 35p in a bigger font than the actual price this one is on you ASDA
Why the refunds? Wouldn't they know what they are getting before checking out?
They probably did not figure it out until the price came up at the cash register

Asos "Black Friday Deal" Is More Expensive Than The Base Price Anytime Of The Year (110€)
Otherwise, this is a good example of how product prices in online stores must be presented in the EU. They must have the price development for the last month and if there is not, the company can be accused of misleading marketing and they must make the necessary changes.

And it'll crack after just a few uses. I find it kind of funny that there are two kinds of pyrex. Lowercase pyrex is produced in the US and complete c**p, uppercase PYREX is made in France and still really good and made of borosilicate glass. I even think the US version went out of business this year.
Not exactly. The Pyrex manufactured in France is made with borosilicate (what they were all made from when it originated in the USA) and Pyrex manufactured, currently, in US is made fron soda-lime. While borosilicate has a higher temperature gradient soda-lime has been proven to be much more resistant to cracks and breaks from drops or impact damage. So technically, the soda-lime is the superior product. The only problem is some of the cheaper Pyrex products are made with thinner glass. But a soda-lime glass of the same thickness as borosilicate is actually much stronger

I came out of the gym early one morning and went to the mailroom to check my box and suddenly i was stepping on glass and i saw this.
The front car gate to the complex has been broken for WEEKS and anyone could (and did!) walk in. The stupid part of this building design is that to enter the (partially) outdoor hallways to apartments there’s no need for a fob or a key and to enter the hallway with gym and mailroom access you just need to go through the fire door, which is not locked.
Luckily, I had no packages so only mildly infuriating for me because now all non-USPS packages are routed to the front desk which is only open 8-6 on weekdays. I pity everyone else though because Black Friday was recently and that room was full to the brim.

Black Friday Sales Be Like
This is about as honest & actual a discount on Black Friday as I’ve ever seen. Sure, the big box is giving 30% off, but they also marked it up by 40% a month or so earlier, making the great deal even more expensive than the 3% discounted price. That’s 100% how Black Friday works.

We’ve a retail end to our resort and use a very popular software suite to manage it. There’s an option to increase prices across the board based on sales data for each & every item, solely to be able to discount the prices for promo or a “huge sale” which garners original or higher earnings per piece/item. Every retail company does this. It’s the grocery store membership scheme. It works so incredibly well. One example: we sell branded beach towel for $79. In fall/winter (tropical warm local high season) it raises the price to $129. We do two (sometimes 3) marketed sales mid-Oct thru Feb and reduce the price to $99 for a “very limited time” with “sells out quickly” signage. We move ~300% more during this season & double it during the sales. It’s “bargain” psychology.
If you shop on Amazon, the trick is to put them on your wishlist, not just in your cart and set notifications on. Do this weeks/months ahead of time so you'll notice the price changes. 9 out of 10, products are cheaper during non sale events. This way you don't fall for their "sale" prices.
Wait until after the holidays when they actually do lower the price to get rid of the over supply.

Discount on animals for black Friday. At petsmart.
Meh. I’m not sure how Petsmart treats its animals (hopefully well but since it’s a large chain pet store I’m not confident) but having a discounted price during a major shopping event so more pets can find a home isn’t the worst thing in the world. (Also ps, when possible, adopt don’t shop! 😊)
I worked in animal welfare for 20 years. Ya wanna know our busiest times? Right after major gift giving & shopping "holidays". We'd get hundreds of animals being dumped in our shelter. "Discounting" animals like this gets them sold to people who either aren't capable or can't afford their care. Pets aren't impulse purchases and stuff like this is horrific.

There was MAYBE 2” of room between our vehicles. He would have had to make a 3 point turn just to pull out and around me. Since that day, he has so far now stayed respectfully in between his own lines 😌
He probably, as I have, looked and said "dumbass", then looked at my OWN parking job...NOW who's the dumbass?

The cover photo shows an iPad Pro, and I’m thinking that’s awesome I should check this out. Open the article, and find that it’s a regular iPad. Not quite awesome.

Whoa, all tires for cost price? (says so on the front page today). Nice! But wait... That doesn't seem so different from the prices I saw earlier this week.
As it happens I still had a browser open from last Wednesday. !! They raised their prices 2,4% and are selling it as black Friday deal.
Don't You Just Love Black Friday Deals 😂
I am not sure if this is Polish gov idea or EU, but by law, price tags must contain one more info: lowest price for past 30 days. And I think it's beautiful.
We would like to tell our American (soon to be great again) friends, that here in the civilised world, all traders are bound by law, when announicng a discount, to list the lowest price of the discounted product in the last 30 days. Communist, I know, but saves us a lot of headache.
I hate black Friday with the power of the fire of a thousand suns. It was bad enough when it was just a U.S thing that stupid people did after, of all things, Thanksgiving. I genuinely can't think of anything more silly than that. However, I didn't know that it had caught on elsewhere until I read this. Such a shame. Consumerism at its worst.
Black Friday used to actually be a good deal before 2020. Yes, it is well known many stores bump up prices so you need to do research leading up to black Friday. There used to be free items given to the first xx amount of people through the door and those were the real deals. Getting coupons, gift cards, or items for being early. I used to hit up a few different stores with those. I even did a Mall of America black Friday opening. It was a lot more orderly than I thought it would be. Sure, the stores had their "sales" but the coupons and scratch cards for prizes are what was worth the wait (some people won big, and big gift cards for first 50 people). In the advent on online black Friday, there's really no incentive unless doing research beforehand and finding out an item is actually on sale for a good deal.
Who in the world actually goes out and shops on black Friday? There's already too many people in the damn store on a Tuesday at 2:30pm...
"Sales" are, and always have been, a con. I remember buying my then girlfriend part of a set - just the necklace I think - for Christmas, then seeing the earrings in the January "sale" - for exactly the same price as they had been in December. This was 1988/89. The con (or way round the law) is primarily that some unfortunates in some out of the way place like Carlisle had them on sale at a higher price for the required amount of time, in order for the shop to be able to claim that the price has been reduced. It's not a drop in price, just lower than the one that they temporarily bumped it up to.
Not necessarily - the shop I worked for as a TV technician had real sales - but surely in a country that doesn't respect its citizens enough to create proper consumer protection laws.
