Oh My God Y'all. I Finally Finished
This is beautiful. Time and materials it's worth well over $1,000.
I Don’t Show My Work Because A Lot Of People Ask Me Why Do I Like To Crochet And That It’s A Grandmom Sport. But Here's Something I Did Today
My uncle was sick as a child, so his mother taught him to crochet, so he would be productive. He kept it up all his life. He was a child well before WWII.
Crocheting isn't easy and can be quite technical. I've tried making things like this and it's not easy. This is awesome 👍
I love elephants-yours is adorable. I have been crocheting for over 50 years and will keep doing so. Keep up the good work-It's a great hobby that can go everywhere with you.
It’s not a Grandmom hobby. I’ve been crocheting since I was 12, and I’m now 43. To be honest with you, I’m not stopping anytime soon 😃! So, keep up making these adorable animals, and keep crocheting 🥰!
My First Finished Sweater
Wayyyyyy fabulous. Love the stitch, the slouch and elegant fit. Very nice
Usually, around the new year, many of us make resolutions to change and improve our lives. For some, it could be losing those extra kilos gained during the holiday; for others, it could be trying a new hobby or following their passion.
However, sometimes we need a little motivation and inspiration to keep going. For instance, the r/crochet community, which has a whopping 1.2 million admirers, is full of creative and original ideas for crocheters around the world.

Hi Mom! If you have some spare time, I know some one else who would love one of these too 😊
It’s a space where people can proudly share photos of their work and also discuss and exchange ideas with other members. If you are a newcomer, you can seek advice from fellow veterans. The wholesome community supports beginners and experts alike.
Now, if you’re someone who wants to start crocheting or is simply curious about the art, let us tell you that it’s quite different from knitting. Despite the fact that both of them require the use of yarn and a stick to create fabric, they differ greatly from one another.
My Dad: You’re A Guy, You Can’t Crochet, People Will Think You’re Gay. Me, A Straight 18 Yr Old Guy: Hehe Mini Dino Go Roar
You know who used to knit and crochet in the old times? The woodsmen and shepherds. You know, the guys who had to fight off wolves, bears and lions to protect themselves, their fellows or their flock. They would knit or crochet, because they needed something to do at evening and they needed scarfs and sweaters. Oh, and sailors would, with rope ends.
Also sailors and fisherman. My brother taught more than a of his fellow sailors to crochet. When he got out of the Navy, never picked up a hook or any other hobby again. So sad.
Load More Replies...With all due respect to Dad, keep crocheting! This little guy is too cute!

Crocheted My Wedding Dress
People who knit have to use two long, pointed needles, one held in each hand, to make the stitches. However, the hook used in crocheting is very different from knitting needles. More specifically, individuals need to use one hook instead of two needles. While knitting, you need less yarn compared to crocheting.
Often, people crochet to make structured items like coasters, while knitting is popular for making clothing items like sweaters, cardigans, and shawls.

My Mom Crochets And Donated 48 Blankets To Sick Children This Year
Well done ! My Mum used to buy second hand dolls at the thrift store, wash, mend , do up the hair and make fabulous outfits for them to go in the Christmas boxes delivered by the Knights of Columbus., the Lions and other srvice clubs.
In the hospital where I work, we had to ask people to stop donating wool items as it harbours a high percentage of bacteria, especially when it’s been used in a handmade item. It’s a shame but we have to think of the patients health. Crocheted and knitted items using cotton are okay though.

In general, crafting as a hobby is good for our mental health. Psychologist Sahra O’Doherty told the Guardian, “Crafts can be a useful antidote to depression because they help pull us out of negative thought spirals and refocus us on things that give us a sense of achievement, which can combat feelings of worthlessness, helplessness or hopelessness.”

My Hands Are Killing Me But I Finished My Giraffe
Same. Plus I have arthritis in my hands and can't do anything like that. :(
Load More Replies...I've croched dragons in this style and it is a lot of work, so props to OP! The giraffe is really pretty.
Crocheting is also a powerful tool for processing challenging emotions like grief. O’Doherty points out, “Allowing ourselves time to sit and process and not be distracted by things like our phones is absolutely important.” When we make a particular design, we have to keep repeating the stitches. The process of repetition helps to absorb some of our attention while still allowing us to think deeply about other things.

I believe it took forever as the tag says, I know the work involved (ask my stash unfinished - and much simpler - blankets) but worth it! 💖
Additionally, the repetitive motions help to induce a state of mindfulness, which is similar to meditation. So if you’re making a coaster, it can be quite calming and relaxing. For individuals who have struggled with meditation in the past, crocheting might be an attractive alternative.

Engaging in mentally and physically stimulating activities like crocheting can help prevent moderate cognitive impairment (MCI), according to a Mayo Clinic study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry.
Remembering techniques and mastering stitches is a good way to engage your cognitive abilities. If we engage in mental workouts daily, we might be able to slow down or stop memory loss.

Another great advantage of crocheting is the feeling of satisfaction you experience upon completing your project. With a multitude of things that you can make, it surely boosts your productivity. And the joy of sharing your creative creation with others gives you a sense of achievement.

I think you mean patent* which I'm not entirely sure one can do, in this scenario. Since Lego has it's own patents and this is just one configuration, of nearly endless options, that could be created, I think it would just fall under the Lego umbrella for patents. 🤔

It's much easier than knitting, just have a go. Better if you can see someone demonstrating, but if you don't have a suitable Nana, then I'm sure there will be something on the internet. Also even simple items or patterns look impressive, so you will almost certainly have something good from the start.

Wrap fabric around the eyelets (double thickness). You can use a matching or complementary pattern, or if it's just scrap fabric you can wrap more yarn around that & secure it all really well.
Also, you could line it with the same fabric (similar to the idea of making a second one, which would definitely work, but I'm too lazy! 😃)
Load More Replies...I don't crochet, so please forgive my ignorance. But could they crochet leather straps on?
I don't crochet either, I want to learn how, just hard to find the time, at this moment in my life. Anyway I think they could add some leather straps to it, but I still think one would need to reinforce the material at the connection points, to be able to withstand the added weight. Hopefully this helps.
Load More Replies...Ot maybe just reinforce with matching seam binding. Sometimes this method is used on shoulder seams etc with knit garments so they don't stretch.
Looks like chenille yarn which is not as intrinsically strong as wool. Maybe make a second one in wool with the chenille one inside?

In my experience, every project has a recipient. It might take some time, but some day you will know: this is what I made it for. Either case, you should be peoid of it.
First Ever Project- Expectation vs. Reality :(
Still cute! But you might try taking some of the stuffing out and compressing it to be smaller and get the shape you want. You could even ball up some of the same yarn and stuff it with that or dark wool. Just a thought.
It looks like roadkill but don't give up! Each mistake is a lesson. Try a smaller hook next time and as already suggested, it is a tad overfilled

Crochet Dresses For My Barbies
My grandmother used to give me these all the time. I miss her I wish I would have taken better care of those things she made for me.
I also had a grandma who made amazing things. She made 2 dolls for me, once of which looked exactly like Cabbage Patch Kid, but with a soft head instead of plastic. And then she'd make custom clothes for the dolls as well. When my aunt got married and I was a flower girl my grandma made matching dresses for my cousin and I. She was such a talented woman, who unfortunately died way too young. :( I wish I had kept some of the things she made, but I'm sure she was happy that I loved and played with them.
