My name is Elena Shichko. I am an artist and photographer from Belarus. I paint with acrylic and oil on canvas. The stylistic direction that I use in my works, I would describe as romantic fantasy realism. I am attracted to bright expressive images, romantic and sensual. They do not live in the real world, their world is a world of fantasy, illusions, and myths. This artificially constructed world reflects the inner state of a person's soul.

In the series of still lifes, I am not interested in a documentary interpretation of nature, but in stylization and color harmony. I am attracted by the romantic component, the image, and the internal state of objects.

In my works, I strive to portray a combination of the real and the fictional, the boundlessness of the energy of nature and objects. Each of my works is a journey into a new unique world!

I am a professional artist, photographer, educator, art critic, and scientist. I am also the mother of three beautiful children. I have lived all my life in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Recently my family and I moved to Germany, and now, we live here. I started doing art at an early age. When my mother took me to art school, there was no doubt left for me that I would become an artist. This is how my journey began.

After art school, I graduated from the art lyceum and later the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in Minsk. After the Academy of Arts, it was very interesting for me to rethink some of the processes in Belarusian art, not only from the point of view of practice but theoretically. I entered the Institute of Art History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, where I defended my doctoral dissertation on modern Belarusian printmaking. At the same time, I worked as an assistant professor in the design department at the A.M. Shirokov Institute of Modern Knowledge.

The original apples from the Garden of Eden. Pomegranates are so beautiful and symbolic. I'm delighted to see Elena has painted these.

Scientific and pedagogical work and family at that time took away all my time. There was absolutely nothing left for creativity. Lately, I've been trying to draw more. Over the years, I have accumulated a huge potential, I have a lot of ideas for new works, and I want to try new techniques. So, with great passion, I immersed myself in the art of photography for several years and even received several honorable mentions at prestigious international competitions.

Currently, I am very interested in oil and watercolor painting. I like object art. I take ideas for my paintings from the outside world, and peep into nature, in my garden, in every interesting little thing. The process of inventing a picture takes place constantly and does not depend on mood, time of day, or inspiration. It's just a way of life.

I would call my creative style fantasy realism. It includes elements of surrealism, decorative art, abstraction, and realism. Objects from real life interest me as elements from which you can create your own unique space with a special unique history. I really love bright open, cheerful colors, and decorative textures.

Recently, I try to participate in exhibitions, and I'm always glad for a new opportunity to show my work to people. Bored Panda also helps me with this. This is a great platform for creative people. Here you can show off your work, as well as get a lot of feedback. You can share your own experience and be inspired by the work of other people. It's really cool! Being an artist is not easy, but it pays off many times over with the opportunity to express yourself, as well as the ability to create unique things that resonate in the hearts of other people.
