Who is Baby Yoda, and What’s It Doing in Memes?
Baby Yoda, also known as Grogu, is an adorable, pint-sized character from the popular Star Wars series called “The Mandalorian." While Grogu isn't a baby of the wise Jedi Master Yoda, he’s from the same mysterious species.
Even though Grogu is tiny, he’s much older than he looks. He’s been around for over fifty human years, which is still in the “infant development” stages for the Yoda species.
As for what Grogu is doing in popular media—meme trend is anyone’s guess. However, one of the reasons might be that “The Mandalorian” director Jon Favreau tried to treat Grogu the same way Jedi Master Yoda was treated. I have never thought about Yoda being anything but Yoda. My mind took me to some interesting places trying to navigate this. Is there a baby Chewy too? How many Star Wars characters can we create into baby versions like Muppet babies?

I very nearly cried of his adorable cuteness in the second episode. I feel sorry for my dad, who had to sit through me pausing it every two seconds and going "ooh my GOD hes SO Cuuute" or "oh my god baby yodaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" Edit: also, every time there was a shoot out with baby yoda there I was like NOOOOOOO baby yoda no

Baby Yoda (BY) actually had me doing math (I hate math) trying to figure out Yoda is Human ages. I figure since BY can walk, eat solids, understand his surroundings but still in a stroller, he's probably the equivalent to a human 2 yr old. So, 900 yrs old in Yoda years is 36 yrs old in human years. I may be wrong - like I said, I hate math. lol

Honestly, I think they age by 10 human years. So basically, that fact that Baby Yoda is 50, I would think he's more like 5. Which would make sense being that as you said, Yoda dying at a human equivalent of 36 wouldn't make any sense, but dying at a human equivalent of 90 human years would seem pretty reasonable to me. (Not to mention, it's not unheard of for a 5 year old to ride around in strollers.)

It could also be a design trait to emphasize 'cuteness'. Baby Yoda has lots of the traits of other babies, causing the protective reaction in many other species.

Nice to meet you all, thank you-Tif I get confused with the timelines, especially the side story Disney stuff, but I’ve never considered ‘the child’ to be Yoda. I could be off. I haven’t read or seen everything but I quite loved the Mandolorian. It’s interesting ‘the child,’ although older struggles between Sith and Jedi powers like I believe Yoda did in his lifetime...

Don't mean to crush y'alls dreams... but "Baby Yoda" isn't actaully baby Yoda at all. Yoda died at the end of Return of the Jedi, and the Mandalorian takes place after Yoda's death. Take a look at a timeline if you are confused, you can find one on Wookiepedia or goodle. Believe what you want... but what we all can agree on is that he is *very* cute!! :P
