30 Baby Yoda Memes To Save You From The Dark Side

Disney+’s ‘The Mandalorian’ live-action series about the titular bounty hunter is a hit (so far) and it has a lot to do with Baby Yoda, who is one of the famous characters on the show.

In the show, Baby Yoda is known as ‘The Child’ and we won’t be spoiling too much, but suffice to say, it’s an important character. (On that note, are there any characters with ‘The’ in their names who aren’t important? The Writer seems to think not.)

Bored Panda spoke to Star Wars fan Alastair Bailey who is an expert in the universe’s lore and has a lot of in-depth knowledge about the series. How big of a Star Wars fan is he? He is literally wearing Darth Vader socks this very moment.

According to Bailey, there are several reasons as to why Baby Yoda is such a huge hit on the internet. First and foremost is the fact that Baby Yoda is ‘adorable.’ Nostalgia, the fact that two generations of Star Wars fans love Yoda, and that his species is ‘very mysterious’ also factor into Baby Yoda’s appeal.

However, Bailey doesn’t agree with The Writer’s opinion that Yoda is the coolest Star Wars character. “I mean, Darth Vader is pretty badass, especially in the comics and expanded universe. They really showcase his power.” While I understand and respect Bailey’s opinion, I still believe that Yoda could easily beat Vader.

Bored Panda also asked Bailey what he thought of the newest Star Wars movies. “They are enjoyable films but not great films,” he said, expressing hope that the newest film will be better than the previous two since Disney took over the production.

Finally, we asked Bailey what alien species he’d be in the Star Wars universe and wondered what type of lightsaber he’d have. “Miraluka, they are a species that have no eyes but perceive the world around them using The Force,” he said, noting that ideally he’d like to have a silver or yellow double-bladed lightsaber in the style of Asajj Ventress, Padawan to the infamous Count Dooku.

Shockingly, there is no official name for Yoda’s alien species! It’s literally called ‘Yoda’s species.’ With how much lore and fanfiction there is about the Star Wars universe, this in itself is fascinating.

What we do know about these aliens is that they are incredibly long-lived. So being a 50-year-old is still being a child. The Yodas of Star Wars are kind of like the Elves and Dwarves of The Lord of the Rings: they probably don’t move out of their parents’ home until they’re 180.
