A woman’s controversial “Baby Canceled” post has sparked a heated online debate after she claimed she ended a pregnancy because the father “wasn’t sh*t.”

The Instagram graphic looked like a baby announcement, complete with tiny shoes, alphabet blocks, and an ultrasound image. Instead, it carried a very different message.

Highlights
  • A viral “Baby Canceled” post claimed a woman ended her pregnancy because the father “wasn’t sh*t."
  • The post later took turn when its creator revealed the pregnancy announcement was fake.
  • While some praised the message as a way to avoid raising a child with an unsuitable partner, others criticized the celebratory tone surrounding abortion.

“Mommy changed her mind. Daddy wasn’t s- -t,” it read.

Some people praised the decision, while others said the way it was presented was disturbing.

One commenter summed up their reaction with, “Yeah, figure that out before bedtime, not after.”

The post was shared by an Instagram user who calls herself Moraa. It claimed the baby’s due date would have been April 14, 2027, before announcing that the pregnancy had been “canceled.”

The unusual graphic featured tiny baby shoes, alphabet blocks spelling “B-A-B-Y” and what appeared to be an ultrasound image.

Her post collected more than 121,000 likes and over 8.400 comments.

Some users saw the post as a statement about choosing not to have a child with an unsuitable partner.

“Wish more women were like this. It’s called intelligence,” one person wrote, while another supporter said, “Let’s actually normalize this.”

A third person added, “It ain’t never been smart to bring kids into a world of chaos. Good for you lol.”

But plenty of people were not celebrating.

“Choosing to terminate your pregnancy is your business. I disagree with it, but it’s none of my business. Bragging about aborting your unborn child is grotesque,” one commenter wrote.

Another said, “Having an abortion is one thing. Celebrating the event is something quite different. It’s the act of an absolute ghoul.”

Someone else called the post “disgusting” and said the people behind it should be ashamed.

As soon as the post started getting backlash, Moraa admitted the pregnancy story was fake

The controversy took another turn when Moraa reportedly revealed that the announcement was fabricated.

She described it as a joke and said, “I get paid to troll.”

She also appeared to embrace the attention, writing, “Mark my words, I’m a be on TV one day.”

That admission meant the pregnancy itself was not the story many people initially believed it to be. The argument over the post, however, was very real.

Some users accused Moraa of creating rage-bait to attract attention and make money.

“Nothing more than attention seeking,” one person wrote. “Even if it’s bad attention.”

Another commenter believed there could be a motive behind the post, calling it possible “underhanded marketing” designed to influence people’s views about having children.

Much of the backlash focused less on the decision itself and more on the way it was announced

“Can they just not be f*cking ghoulish for a single day? I’m not even religious, and I find this s*it’s disgusting,” one commenter wrote.

Another compared the announcement to canceling a normal appointment, saying, “A baby isn’t a dinner reservation you cancel because you changed your mind.”

A different user asked, “What is wrong with you guys?”

Others believed the entire thing was obviously designed to provoke people.

“I think she is trolling us,” one person wrote.

The debate also became part of a larger argument about how much of a person’s private life should be turned into social media content, particularly when the subject involves pregnancy or abortion.

The controversy also brought attention back to YouTuber Jesse Ridgway, known online as McJuggerNuggets

A social media comment from cassidyswanderings about the baby canceled post, discussing societal expectations for women.

Ridgway and his wife previously faced a major backlash after publicly discussing their decision to terminate a pregnancy after doctors indicated the baby was likely to have Down syndrome.

Ridgway explained that the couple had spoken with doctors, family members, friends, and genetic counselors before making their decision.

“We spoke with doctors, friends, family and genetic counselors and learned that up to 90% of women terminate their pregnancy after learning the baby has [the chromosomal anomaly] Trisomy 21,” he wrote.

He also said the couple hoped to have another child.

“It will take a little time to move on, but we are excited to try again in the future and hopefully have a better outcome,” he added.

His comments upset many people, particularly parents raising children with Down syndrome. Some responded by sharing pictures and stories about their children and the joy they brought to their families.

Ridgway later said the reaction had been much stronger than he expected.

“I realized that more than likely I will have to bury my son; that is not what I wanted to sign up for,” he told Page Six in June. “I want my kids to outlive me and to be fully functional and be able to live a good life.”

He also tried to make clear that his decision was not meant to suggest people with disabilities were less valuable.

“To all of my fans who have weighed in on this topic who have Autism, Down Syndrome or any other conditions … we appreciate you. You matter a lot, and we’re glad you’re here,” he wrote.

One person wrote, “Dear god what am I hearing,” while another said, “Jesus, please come back already.”

Someone else questioned whether the post was really meant to make a serious point at all.

“I wonder if women in general take her side. Is she relevant to you guys?” they asked.

Others were particularly critical of the celebratory tone.

“Just when you think they can’t sink any lower, there is a celebration; this is vulgar beyond all !!!” one person wrote.

Meanwhile, another commenter took a more measured view, separating the decision from the way it was presented.

“Choosing to terminate your pregnancy is your business,” they wrote, while making clear that they objected to “bragging about aborting your unborn child.”

”Yeah, having an abortion party is nuts,” wrote one viewer
