Gone are the days of going above and beyond in the workplace. Many of us have learned after years of giving 110% that our efforts are never going to be rewarded. Instead, employees are now deciding to “act their wage” and do precisely what’s necessary to avoid getting fired.

But it appears that some workers have gotten a bit too lazy and are now failing to even complete the bare minimum. And the perfect place to see this in action is the One Job subreddit. This community shares hilarious photos of some of the worst mistakes employees have managed to make at work. From forgetting to proofread signs to serving customers questionable plates of food, it seems that even the simplest of tasks can go awry when workers just don’t care. Enjoy scrolling through these hilarious fails, and be sure to upvote the ones that you think should have led to someone getting fired!

It's probably not a violation of states' rights even if all 9 justices of the court making the decision were sane, rational, and ruling based on an honest interpretation of the constitution. A lot of things that maybe shouldn't get by based on the commerce clause, but commerce in one form or another is probably going to be most of what AI is used for. Probably better for the laws about it to be uniform, although I'm not at all confident the (federal) laws will have the protections we're going to need.

Memory from college Political Science class, circa 1990: Instructor telling us that nearly none of the Representatives or Senators actually read the bills; they vote party line nearly all the time and that's just the way it is, was, and always will be. The bills take months to write and are often very long. Who's got time to read them? As long as one's pet project is in there, it's AYE everytime.

Typical politics. They read almost nothing and know virtually nothing about everything they sign in. If they did, the country wouldn't be in the shape it is. All politicians are worried about is how much money they can steal from the taxpayers.

The One Job subreddit is a staple on the platform, as it has been around since 2012 and amassed an impressive 852K members. This community shares photos of those classic moments that make you want to scream, “You had one job!” and manages to unite members together against lazy employees who clearly don’t care at all about their jobs.

But at the end of the day, can we really blame these employees for not giving 100% while on the clock? After all, a 2022 Gallup poll revealed that job unhappiness has hit an all-time high, and I don’t think it’s improved much over the past few years. Half of American workers reported that they feel stressed at their jobs every single day, and 60% of employees admitted that they’re emotionally detached at work. One fifth of workers even said that their job makes them miserable.

When it comes to why so many people hate their jobs, therapist Tess Brigham says that many, particularly young people, had unrealistic expectations for what their day-to-day work lives would entail. It’s also possible that people are frustrated by the lack of career advancement opportunities they’ve been given, and they’re tired of waiting patiently for a raise or promotion.

Social media can also play a role in the disdain many of us have for our jobs, as it tends to feed us a distorted version of reality when all we see are influencers on beaches and celebrities relaxing on boats. And, of course, a bad boss or manager can turn even your dream job into a nightmare.

FWIW, I know a guy who saved $100 on a brand new kayak because the name on one side was upside down. Considering it was a whitewater kayak I can't imagine many buyers would care. While some argue that “acting your wage” at work might jeopardize potential opportunities for career advancement and weaken relationships with colleagues, it seems like the right move when you’re working at a company that clearly doesn’t value you or that you don’t plan on staying at for years to come. Plus, if it means that you have more time and energy to focus on personal projects, you might actually begin to enjoy your workday more than you ever have before!

This gem is a handle of a restaurant car door in a Finnish train. The "V" stands for VR Group Plc, the name of the railway company. If my memory serves me correctly, I think this handle and a few other quirky details appeared during a renovation maybe 10-20 years ago. You can find them on older blue-white night (sleeper) trains. The modern green-white IC trains are just boring compared to the oldies.

These kind of paths are called "desire paths". Shortest distance between two points. The issue with them is they cause erosion and if left unchecked, can result in injury due to falls, or cause more damage to the hill.

Now with Forrest. A restaurant I go to occasionally has an upstairs "p i s s o i r e" for men. The porcelain is a bit like "normal" but it is wider and longer towards the piddler, so to speak. How many mistakes do you think you make during a typical workday? Whether it’s showing up to a meeting 5 minutes late, signing off an email with “Bet wishes” or inputting data incorrectly, all humans make errors. And according to one poll, one in five employees in the UK have made a “critical mistake” at work and gotten away with it. 12% of British workers also admit that they’ve made an error that cost their company money. I've read that this is because the surrounding ground tends to sink, but the huge concrete construction that is the drain structure tends to stay put. It was probably flush with the ground when installed. Still, given the way things change, such drains should be recessed on installation.

I've actually Posted this exact statement several times. As a Land Surveyor, I often lay out installations of storm sewers. And yes, this is exactly what happened here. This is not a failure of a job, but a matter of age. At this point, the only fix is to regrade the entire area. Its simply not possible to lower the inlet.

More common than you think. I'm willing to bet that the area on the left side is frequently used as a playground, or something similar. so erosion would have lowered the ground below the drain's level. Probably worked fine when it was first installed.

I went to NDSU right after they joined the AAA football league. To beautify the campus they dug some arena seating right outside the student lounge building for students to use during warm weather. When I saw it on my first day I laughed loudly as it (literally doubled over beside it laughing) because they did not include any drainage in this fancy cement hole int he ground they dug. For those not aware, it tends to snow a lot in North Dakota in the winter. The next sprint it did thousands of dollars of damage to the nearby student lounge building and the seating needed to be dug out and redone to include drainage. You'd have thought that the engineers or the construction crew would have went "Shouldn't we have a drain for this hole we are digging?" But nope, they didn't. Also tuition went up 9.9% that year, and they had the balls to claim it was a victory for students since they kept it under 10%. Horrible school, would not recommend since now the basically exist to worship football.

Even Harvard Business Review understands that mishaps happen to everyone in the workplace. Apparently, there are a few mistakes that we’re all guilty of making at work. One of which is having an aha-moment. Sometimes we suddenly realize that the way we’ve been doing something for months, or even years, wasn’t necessarily the most efficient way. But as long as we learn from this epiphany, we can move past it!

Meanwhile, another type of mistake that we’re all guilty of making from time to time is the sloppy kind. Whether it’s from rushing or being exhausted because you didn’t sleep last night, these are preventable errors that we should try to avoid as much as possible.

Another form of workplace mistake that Harvard Business Review points out is a “stretch mistake.” These happen when we accidentally stretch ourselves too thin and end up with too much on our plates. And finally, there are high-stakes mistakes. These are the big errors that we definitely can’t get away with making too often, but one won’t ruin your entire career. (As long as you learn from it!)

At my local cinema the toilets are like this. You go down the stairs past these two signs and at the bottom you turn left or right depending on which toilet you're there to use. It's confusing because from the top of the stairs you can only see the men's room while the ladies room is around a blind corner.

"Lorem ipsum" itself doesn't have a specific English meaning because it's a jumbled, meaningless fragment of a Latin text by Cicero, but the words dolorem ipsum are believed to derive from the Latin for "pain itself". The entire Lorem ipsum passage functions as placeholder text in graphic design and printing to show the visual layout of a page without being distracting, using a jumbled version of Cicero's original text to ensure it doesn't have any inherent meaning that could interrupt the focus on the design.

I have some of those in my house.. there are so many things wrong in my sixties house that people joke the builders that built that neighborhood had either really good or really bad d***s. After living here for 22 years we figured out there was a hole in the roofline that was never covered.. we figured it out when we put a new roof on. It is a miracle we only had raccoons in the attic once.

Was at an apartment last week that had sockets all round the worktop in the kitchen, they’d then installed a low splash back around the whole kitchen top that stopped you plugging anything in ‘cause it was so deep the cord hit it and the bottom two pins of then plug couldn’t reach the outlet. U.K. plugs, great design, U.K. kitchen intaller not great.

Someone's getting fired over that one. When you see something priced at 1 cent at a store, it means it's been "zeroed" out and slated for destruction. Before someone gets creative, NO they won't sell it to you for that price. No, there isn't a law in the US that says they have to do so, and if you bring one up to the checkout and it rings up for 1 cent, they WILL call management, they WILL take it from you, and they WILL investigate just how you got it. Police may be called, and they may try to charge you with theft by conversion.

Depends on where you live and the exact circumstances. I've known where the price has been honored because this was the store's fault, not the customer's.
