Those parents are such heroes, and we don't even realize at the time. I also grew up poor and had an a*****e home and it was only a few months ago that I had the epiphany that all the times my friends parents let me sleep over for days on end, or bought extra snacks before I came over, or just treated me like their own kid and gave me a sense of normalcy - they KNEW I was poor etc and supported me in those ways on purpose. Makes me cry thinking about how many amazing "parents" helped raise me and I didn't even realize it at the time...

While scrolling through the internet, we never really know what’s coming next. One minute it’s a funny cat flopping off a table, the next, it’s breaking news that makes your chest feel heavy. And while being informed matters, so does your peace of mind. Not everything has to weigh you down. Sometimes, it’s okay to pause, breathe, and find joy in something small. After all, your sanity deserves it.

Studies have shown that constantly consuming distressing content can ramp up anxiety and stress. Your sleep suffers, your mood takes a hit, and suddenly everything feels a bit off. That’s why good stories matter more than we think. They pull us back, soften the hard edges of the world. They remind us that goodness still exists, quiet, steady, and real. You just have to notice it.

We do. It's too big of a problem, and too sporadic to rely on individuals, so we pay taxes and vote for people who will enact policies that will build shelters for homeless and rehab places for d**g addicts. It's often too big We do that... don't we?

Homeless shelters are not always safe. Lots of people have had their meagre belongings stolen or have received threats of violence. Many choose to stay in their car because they can lock themselves in.

To make a plural in English, you just add "S" (sometimes "ES"). NO APOSTROPHE. Use apostrophes only when making a possessive, EXCEPT with the pronoun "it". "Its" is possessive, "It's" means "it is" (that is, it's a contraction). PLEASE GET THIS RIGHT, PEOPLE, it isn't rocket science.

Kindness is all around us even now.. You just don't see it on the news except as a novelty clip. War and crime make more compelling news stories. There should be a show which shows only good news and runs concurrently with the news. We will need all of the kindness we can get over the next few years.

And that’s where wholesome posts come in; they’re little antidotes to chaos. Today, we’ve got a story that’s going to feel like a cozy blanket on a bad day. It’s not flashy or dramatic, just honest and kind. Bored Panda spoke to a man who doesn’t just talk kindness, he sews it. Meet Ravi Shah, a tailor from Gujarat who stitches joy into every thread.

Known lovingly as “Mota Bhai” or Big Brother, Ravi isn’t your average tailor. He’s taken leftover fabric from his clients and turned it into something magical. Instead of tossing scraps, he uses them to make outfits for kids in need. His goal? To make every child feel seen, loved, and fashionable. And he’s doing just that.

One even called me an egg because I have a round face. Then I found my husband. He is a really good looking guy and I have no idea how he finds me beautiful. I too waited 38 years for this to happen

Ravi remembers his first trip to a mall like it was yesterday. “It felt like walking into a dream,” he says. But that dream came with price tags too steep for many. Seeing street kids in worn-out clothes never sat right with him. The memory lingered, long after the mall lights faded. So, he decided to do something about it, with a needle and a heart full of empathy.

“Most of these kids wear hand-me-downs or whatever they find,” Ravi explained. “Some shirts drown them, others barely fit.” And he couldn’t unsee it. That discomfort, that lack of dignity, it sparked an idea. “I thought, why not use leftover cloth?” he said. “Why not make something just for them, made with care?” That’s how it began.

This is why I go out of my way to be extra nice to the adults starting at my dojang (taekwondo school). It takes a lot of courage to be a beginner, especially when you're "supposed" to know stuff already as an adult. A little grace goes a long way in making people feel comfortable, and I love seeing people gain a passion for the same thing as me, no matter where or when they come from.

“When customers leave extra fabric, I always ask if I can use it,” he shared. With those bits and pieces, he crafts everything from tiny kurtas to fun little dresses. He doesn’t ask for payment, and he never expects praise. During his quiet hours, he sews, bringing life to what others would discard.

Ravi measures each child carefully, just like any paying customer. “Depending on the fabric, I create what fits best,” he said. There’s joy in watching a tunic come together from four random prints. And when the kids try it on? The room lights up. “Their excitement makes it worth every second,” he said, smiling.

Cats know. Two of my cats have shown worry - or at least curiosity - when I have cried, coming to me and sniffing my face. The first time I was sitting, bent over a table, crying with my face on my forearms, and when I lifted my head I was startled to see my cat on the table sniffing my hair. He never did that before.

My Aunt Saved My Life By Being A Live Liver Donor For Me

Two women in hospital gowns and masks sharing a comforting embrace during a pure and uplifting moment in healthcare.

I have an autoimmune disease called PSC. After 15 years with the disease I was at the end stages of liver failure and was placed on the transplant list as of February this year. I knew it would be years on the list and was told I might not be healthy enough to go through a live liver donor. We did some work and got my health to a place where I could handle a live liver transplant.

I didn’t ask anyone but told my family my status and my aunt immediately volunteered. She gave up so much to be able to do this for me. Went through lots of tests and appointments just to get to this point. We are two weeks post surgery and although recovery has been tough, we are both heading in the right direction. I’m so thankful for this new gift of life she so graciously has given me.

Despite all the praise, Ravi keeps it simple. “There’s no master plan,” he shrugged. “Just doing what I can, with what I have.” No big announcements, no fancy campaigns. Just quiet consistency and heart. “Kindness doesn’t need noise to be real,” he added as he picked up his next patch of fabric.

My dad always said if it needs to move but doesn’t = WD40. If it moves and isn’t supposed to = duct tape. I have passed this on to my kids and they’ve passed it on to theirs. My oldest granddaughters first tool box included both😊 The younger ones will receive said toolbox

This is what I need to do. Yeah, I have bad depression sometimes. It hits and I'm tired of it. Medications didn't work. I eat well, brain foods. I get sunlight. I exercise. I'm sober. I have goals. I keep a journal. I do Therapy. I learn new things. I've considered electric shock treatment but I can't afford it without insurance. I'm learning more about self defeating personality and trying to identify my triggers. I'm still hopeful I can heal my brain. I keep working on it. I get dysphoric but that's different than my depression episodes. As much as I've learned about psychology I do believe it's more trauma from childhood over clinical. It could be stamped clinical but I have digged deep within me to see as much as I could about my behaviors. I'm misdiagnosed Bipolar a lot and it's not the case. It's really disheartening health care professionals can't seem to understand BPD vs Bipolar 😕 and self defeating has been taken out of the DSM. I have low self esteem and that can trigger the depression as well as loneliness. But, when it hits I can't function. I tell myself.. why you have such low self esteem!!? You're such a fighter and such a brave girl!! No, it just comes from the lack of from mommy and daddy as a kid and I deal with it everyday.

How many medications did you try? It took my doc and I quite a while (years really) to get the specific combinations and doses that worked best for me. Just because one thing (or 3 or 4) doesn't work doesn't mean you should give up. Also don't be too hard on yourself when you're having a bad day. Sometimes you just have to let it go and hope tomorrow will be better.

If you really believe that, you have to vote for state legislators who understand the value of education instead of ones that say they will lower your taxes. The schools (and teachers) are the victims of the lower taxes that citizens "enjoy".

The Department of Education was created to provide money to schools in poor areas that lacked the funding of schools in wealthier areas. The traitor trump axed this department, ensuring that teachers will have to do more of this. If you voted for the criminal trump, you support inequality in education. BTW, how are those egg prices, trumpers?

So not only your teachers need to find jobs during summer to be able to pay rent and eat, they also have to buy students supplies from their own money? And you all think that is normal? Telling a country sees basic education as worthless, and higher education as business model, instead of a necessity for the future of a country. This is not a "feel good"-story, this is just sad

    Lila Allen

Yeah welcome to the dystopia of teaching. The average teacher spends $800 a year because there aren't any provided supplies. It's just expected of us. And if we send a supply list some parents get mad, some can't afford to buy anything, and we can't let the kids go without and still do our job.

Took my niece shopping to use my discount. One page dedicated to each class and all had different requirements for pen colors, folder colors, markers, highlighters, certain composition books. It was ridiculously expensive. I went to school with a trapper keeper and a pencil. THAT is what's wrong with school today.

Haha my husband had me watch a different movie each weekend for one winter because there were so many good movies I'd never seen (I'm ADHD and was unmedicated until my mid 30s so paying attention to movies wasn't an option for me for many years)

I do this for my husband too, but my art isn't good. I use a lot of stickers to help my art. He also enjoys the fun lunch bags. I'm glad to see others do it as well. My dad had put a smile face on my lunches when I was a kid and now I like to make nice bags for my husband. It was one of my rare happy childhood memories. Despite the paper waste, I don't care. I try my best with other Earth saving things. The lunch bags are just special.

Pay for the beer with the money your dad wanted you to use, then give the bartender a 20 dollar bill and ask for two 10's back (or give bartender a different tenner and ask for your dad's one back). Keep your dad's bill. Btw, you can repeat this on every birthday, and maybe the anniversary of your dad's passing - or his birthday, if you prefer!

'It was our two year (dating) anniversary. We rented a little cabin in dripping springs, Texas (wine country) to just get away and enjoy each other's company. Apparently he came early while I was at work to decorate the whole cabin with lights and a sign. When we showed up I opened the door, saw the sign and froze. I turned around and he was on one knee with a ring he had gotten made from his grandmother's diamonds. If you can't tell from the photo, I screamed "YES" and haven't stopped smiling since.'

In Australia teachers don't have to pay either. The school (not teacher) might pay for part or all of the resources, or the parents will. I am an early childhood and primary teacher and have found that in privately owned preschools etc teachers will buy some additional things, but they are supposed to be reimbursed. I find it too tempting sometimes to buy things from op shops (second hand) because it's cheaper than the suppliers our organisation has accounts with.

I hit a guy at a toll booth and really didn't want my insurance to go up so I begged him to just let me pay for the damage. He begrudgingly agreed to take my business card so he could contact me with the price. He emailed me the next day to tell me his friend was able to get the dent out in his garage so I didn't have to worry about paying for it. I was so happy I dent him $100.00 so he could take his wife out for a nice dinner.

A friend was driving down a narrow street. He clipped a van. He couldn't stop at the time, but went back 5 minutes later and left a note. . The following day, the police were on his doorstep for failing to leave his details at the scene of a crash. Turned out he'd left the note on the wrong vehicle! The police were able to verify his story, and everything was fine.
