Not the poster, but I'm at 14 months just about. Hard to sum up really all the mental barriers to sobriety but here's a go. 1.) identify triggers: for me i didn't realize how often my media choices would show booze in the style that appeals to me. Parks and Rec's Ron Swanson always reminded me of how much I love whiskey. Being aware of that made watching the show or being exposed to other triggers easier to manage. 2.) Find a breaking point. This is more negative, but I found once I hit a specific, shameful point that I was motivated to stop. For me it was vanity and my weight. (Also admitting I'm not too noble to embrace vanity helped). With the cessation of intoxication and other lifestyle changes I'm down 144 pounds at the moment. 3.) A better goal. For me it's my spoiled niece. I didn't like the image of being a fat, gross, drunk uncle to this girl so when I do feel tempted she makes a good motivation to not drink. 4.) Practical: there's an app called Sober Time which helps

08/18/2018 is my special date. Can't believe it's been three years. What honestly got me though it was seeing how hurt/disappointed/angry/worried my loved ones were. I never wanted to make them feel like that again. And in turn I never feel that horrible. :) Plus I have memories now. Not recalling years of your life is very depressing. xoxo

Set a long term goal. Then think, what would it take to achieve that goal? What are my boundaries? What are possible set backs? What can help me and what should I work on? Then set small short term goals maybe 1 month or 1 week. A lot of people just set 1 big goal and focus on the giant task. Then they get intimidated by the giant task they think they can never achieve. Make small task and your first few task should be easy to achieve to help build confidence.

There’s always Alcoholics Anonymous. That’s how I have stayed clean and sober for 41+ years now!! Loving the sober life!!

From my understanding, it's not a vaccine but it gives you time to get them to emergency. This is from a friend whose Huskey was bitten and $4,000.00 later, she made a full recovery after 2 weeks.

Nope. In my best shape, I would run 8 miles at the gym. Today it's 3.

Some road races have a cut off time and if you need longer to finish you're on your own. Some race organizers will "sweep" and drive the runners behind the cutoff to the finish line.
