Since the US is one of the leading countries in the world, people often feel free to voice their opinions about what they like but mostly dislike about it. Costly healthcare, inflation, conservative values, and dysfunctional politics are just a few things that stop foreigners from believing in the American dream.

However, today’s collection of X posts is all about the things people actually like about the land of the free and are even a bit envious of. From coupons to a deeply rooted cheerleading culture, scroll down to find aspects of American culture others would want to have in their country.

We also reached out to the digital creator and Indian expat living in the US, Priya, from “It's Ok Yaar,” a content platform she created together with her partner, Darshan, to help other South Asian immigrants. She kindly agreed to share the things she likes about the USA, too.

Oh, I want to see a real one! Does the novelty wear off? We have lots of hedgehogs here and yeah they can be noisy but always cute ^-^ (Edit: and dirty, no touchy. Like raccoons, I assume)

the novelty wears off pretty much as soon as you meet one in person. i used to do wildlife rehab and have had to teach a young raccoon to be afraid of humans before release into the wild because he had been kept as an illegal pet, until he got aggressive with their child. i also have them around my house constantly. the other day they were quite literally climbing my (exterior) walls. they get into places, they destroy things, they pee on things. they break into your house, steal the cat food, try to make a nest under the bed. they will eat your chickens and murder your pets. (video has no violence or trauma) https://youtu.be/BEhVEnwsPXQ

Raccoons can be dangerous. Ever had a housecat freak out and bite or claw you up? Raccoons have the same energy, but outweigh housecats by about 4 times, and have claws and teeth to match. Plus, they are carriers for several diseases and parasites which can affect humans - not saying they're all diseased, but you don't know which ones are.

Cute ? Yeah at times Like hearing noise in the middle of the night, looking outside and seeing two raccoons having a pool party in our pool other times they are ravaging threw our trash, leaving it all over The driveway and yard for us to clean up. Also they dig through gardens and eat what they can. We have birdseed and peanuts for the birds and squirrels, but if they’re hungry enough, they’ll crack every open and leave it all over the patios for us to clean up. Yeah, they can be cute. At times. They just dug up all my watermelon plants. So there’s that

They are wild animals. Need to be careful around them. They make look cute but they could be dangerous. Why do people see pictures of wild animals and see that they look cute and want one. I like tigers but I would not want to get up close to one.

When raccoons reach a certain age they go from cute and cuddly to ruthless aggression. Used to volunteer at a wildlife rehab clinic and going into the adolescent raccoon cage to feed them was the single most terrifying thing I've done in my life.

There are wild raccoons in Germany as a result of an accidental release by the Nazis. They're cute but destructive, and there's a reason that we call them trash pandas.

Yes, they're cute. In the same way black bears are cute. From a distance. They can get pretty big, around 30-50 lbs maybe, and they have teeth and claws which they're not afraid to use without provocation. Come to think of it, it's easier to scare away a bear.

My Mum lives in Germany, rural area, and has a whole family living in her garden. But she has a huge wild forrest area on her ground, so they have plenty of hiding spots and food options. Until now, they never trashed the garbage can. There's also fat dormice and der right in front of the house door. Magic, even for rural areas.

I just discovered that Max the raccoon I've been feeding on my backporch (I'm in the city in an apartment, on the second floor) for the last year is a Maxine when she brought 3 young (teenaged) babies here 2 days ago. My catfood bill has just quadrupled. They're all skinny & appeared to be almost starving. She lets me pet her and even grabs my hand to do it. They're very cute, but also can be dangerous and have diseases so it is something to be careful about.

I don't get why BP is trying to make it seem that dangerous wild animals such as raccoons are cute and tameable. The truth is that they are just like any other wild animal and can snap unpredictably. I would even consider them as the most dangerous animal in the midwest.

One of my former colleagues in Malaysia told me she was fascinated with raccoons and wished Malaysia had them. I told her trust me, they ain't all that. They will tear your trash bag apart if you don't seal it in a can properly, and can be vicious if you corner them.

Corn dogs are so easy. Just mix cornmeal and water (beat in an egg if you want), skewer a sausage on a stick, dip it in the batter you made (a tumbler or other tall glass is a good vessel for dipping a sausage in batter), and fry it! You can vary the recipe: The sausage you use doesn't have to be a hot dog - try a kielbasa or bratwurst. If you don't have cornmeal you can make other types of batter - like what you would use for fish and chips or schnitzel. If you aren't comfortable deep frying, you can pan fry if there's a lot of oil in the pan and it's very hot.

This one I feel. I think the variety of food from different heritages is so cool. In Germany it's a little like "only one food trend at a time"... As if we can't handle new food/taste. Like, till the maybe 2010s there where mostly Chinese restaurants beside greek and pizzerias. Then came sushi. Like two years ago Indian. In-between where Mongolian and wine others but they disappeared after the new trend wave in my observation. It's hard to find Mexican, African, Persian, Carribbean... But slowly it's becoming better. I enjoy discovering new tastes

FYI..we do NOT get several weeks off throughout the school year. Couple weeks for xmas, one in the spring. Our year is based on the farmers needs, back in the day. That hay ain't gonna put itself up in the barn. Some schools in the south have several weeks throughout the year, but THEY have aircon.

Ha ha yes. We went to Olive Garden a couple of night ago. We shared 2 dishes between the 4 of us because the portions are huge. They also gave us 7 garlic baguettes to take away with us. They didn’t charge for those. FYI I am currently on holiday in Florida.

Barnes & Noble is nice, but Borders was awesome. Borders was like an old friend - comfortable to be around. It was like you could walk in and take off your shoes and settle in for a good read. Barnes & Noble is more like that uppity aunt and uncle you have. Nice stuff, don't touch, very rigid and proper. I blame that image on their imposing stand-alone buildings.

They used to be available in the 1970s but were banned in most of Europe for environmental reasons pumping lots of stuff into the water system that could really screw up the food chain.

I don't understand this one because of European there are so many other cultures around one country and relatively easy to reach. In my opinion it's more interesting than only visiting another part of the own country with just slightly different culture. (Although I do this, because it's also interesting, just not that much as a completely different country)

I'm not. They are massively commercialised operations that actually raise very little for charity. The UK has far better charity shops where the money does go to a good cause and the prices of the items are much more reasonable.

at my regular chinese place in Germany it seems like they just throw a handful into the bag when somebody orders from them. I usually get between 3 to 5 each order. and then you can also order a dozen extra as dessert.

Those are local to an area of the country. I have never seen a crumbl or a canes. I, too, would like to see one of each. This reminds me of In N Out burger…. which, also, can’t be found anywhere on this side of the continent. I have had In N Out Burger when out in CA on vacation though and it was fantastic. Of course that was a 6 hour plane ride away lol.
