If the kid is old enough for solids, then they should have it as food, not some weird solid-fluid mix. It's a choking hazard. It's not even an easy type of thing for an adult to drink, so why would people give it to a toddler?

Guess I'm missing something because when my kids were babies they had special bottles exactly for this purpose. The biggest problem I see with modern parenting is thinking the child shouldn't get anything but formula for 6 months. Young doctor told us that when my first was born. Resulted in his stomach and muscles not developing as they should. Luckily, we didn't listen to this insanity long and changed doctors who immediately had us start feeding him cereals and baby food and things soon became normal.
Mothers (61%) are more likely than fathers (49%) to say that they spend too much time on their phones, as are White parents (60%) compared to their Black (52%) and Hispanic (46%) "colleagues."
Parents' assessments of their social media use follow similar patterns, with parents who are female, White, younger, and who are more educated claiming they spend too much time on these sites.

You’re a f*****g idiot. My appendix leaked for 6 months, almost died 4 times until my Gyno lied and said they were doing an exploratory surgery to try and find out what was wrong. Meanwhile we both knew the real reason was to take out my appendix. Glad they were going to call CPS you’re appendix rupturing or leaking will kill someone if not treated properly immediately. I was extremely lucking going 6+ months with mine leaking. Most have died within a week or two. This woman’s child should be taken from her. Well dear, the appendix is a place for natural bowel flora and fauna to hide when your kid gets a severe bowel infection. When the kid recovers they all come out and repopulate the bowel. If the appendix gets badly infected, it needs to be removed. If not it can burst filling your kid’s abdomen with sh*t and they die. But then they go to heaven, so win/win.

I know a couple that is extremely big. Both parents are super obese. Now they have a 4-year-old who is three times the size of a regular kid. Although I am sure there is a genetic factor, I believe the real issue is the fact that they give her the food that they themselves eat. I feel so bad for the child.

WOW!!! Even during Ramadan, pregnant women and young children do not participate. A baby's stomach is the size of a cherry. They need to eat every 2-3 hours or they can starve. One of the reasons you don't give babies water is because they are desperate for calories, and taking up space in their stomachs with water can starve them.

It is unlikely that your growing child will be able to eat enough to provide the nutrition required for good growth during those toddler years if you do not feed the child more often. Kids are growing and so they need more food, but since they are small, they cannot eat much during one meal. Which do you care about most: your food lifestyle/philosophy or your child's health? If there is not enough nutrition when growing, your child could be stunted in growth in various ways. Is that OK with you? By the toddler years, breast milk alone is not enough.

A trained midwife can determine whether or not you are hemorrhaging (many, if not all, are trained nurses). And they can get you checked into a hospital if that's the case. If you want to do a home birth, I would recommend a midwife that works with a nearby hospital.

It's not allowed everywhere. In Germany, for example, your child has to go to school. You can choose a private school (there are not as many as in the US), but even private schools have to meet the educational standards set by the state. The homeschooling/unschooling movement is a leftover from the pioneer times when some kids lived too far away from a school, and also the freedom of religion idea. It needs to change.

A mum I knew would just put the entire family’s collection of socks in one basket, near the shoes. She never sorted them and paired them - just chucked them in the basket and everyone grabbed what they could/couldn’t be bothered to find when they needed it. I thought that was a pretty good way of managing things. When you’re doing laundry for 10 kids, what’s a few socks added to the mix, anyway?

I don't think there is anything wrong with this one. The overuse of antibiotics in infants and children is a real problem and every doctor should evaluate other treatments first but be willing to prescribe them when they are truly necessary. Also, I don't believe in God but if a family wants a physician who will pray with them I think that is their choice.

Blood banker here and you don't get transfused for low white cells. Blood transfusions are done using packed RBC's and do not help a low WBC count. There is a thing called a granulocyte transfusion but those are reserved for only the sickest of patients such as bone marrow transplant patients or maybe some on chemo. I only saw it once in all my years in the blood bank as it is a difficult product to acquire and it expires within 24 hours of collection. These posts have to be jokes right. This is a good question, in Wales (part of the UK), they have decided that if your child is not potty trained by the time they start school; unless there is a certified medical reason, you the parent must come in and change their nappies. It will no longer be the responsibility of the teachers. Children start school at four (4) years old; what's my fellow Pandas opinion on this?

I’m a teachers aid in Australia. The only bottoms I wipe are the ones of disabled students who can’t do it for themselves. If a non-disabled child isn’t toilet-trained by kindergarten it’s usually a good sign that something is wrong at home….

This is so weird to me. I live and teach kindergarten in Finland. We don't include kindergarten to be part of school, so it is voluntary, and our school starts at the age of 6. We have 3 adults in our groups of 21 kids of ages 3 to 5, and of course we are wiping butts and blowing noses as well as teaching stuff to kids. We have one early childhood educator and two 'nurses', but we are a team, and we all do every task in the class.

When I worked at a daycare, I worked with 4-8 year olds and was not allowed to help them wipe. I could help them with the fasteners on their clothing, but only with the pants already up and within sight of another adult. We were not allowed alone with children ever, and there were very firm rules about how to handle children who did not follow commands (like to come inside). It was all to protect the kids, but more to protect us and the daycare from any allegations of abuse.

Read them a book, turn the night light on and sit on the floor in the room with your child. They can see you and will eventually lie down and go to sleep. You could also read them a book while rocking, then lay them down and close the door. If you are consistent that is the key. 8pm is a good bedtime.

Antibiotics treat infections and if taken for a tooth infection, it will in fact reduce her pain. I've had tooth infections and thought I needed a strong pain killer but after just 2 days of taking the antibiotics, I wasn't in agony any longer. So I don't think this mom misunderstood, that portion of what the doctor said, anyway.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled at 22 due to impacting. I was given a prescription for antibiotics and a prefilled prescription of OxyContin. I was super struggling…I had lost everything I owned after Hurricane Andrew & putting myself through college waiting tables FT. Typical know it all at that age, I didn’t fill that prescription thinking the doc said to “prevent” infection. I didn’t get swollen after the removal surgery or have pain and was less swollen than before when they were impacted. Welp, double shift on Father’s Day on a Sunday a few days later and woke with an ache. By the 2nd shift, it was excruciating by 7 pm. By 11, I was off. I took a pain pill, studied for an exam the next morning, barely slept, went to take the exam with plans to go fill the prescription after. My face was hot, swollen, and I was clammy. Professor sent me home and I literally felt them working. Listen to your doctor. Your mouth is dirty.

I still go to the doctor but doesn't stop me from researching what I'm told. Unfortunate reality is lots of doctors, just like everyone, are mediocre or just plain bad at their job or can't be bothered to take 10 minutes to listen to symptoms before knee jerk prescription writing. Took me 7 years to get a shoulder impingement diagnosed because lazy doctors just assumed I wanted pain meds. I didn't even ask for anything for the pain. Just asking how I could stop living in pain. Finally a nurse got it diagnosed because she took the time to listen to what was going on and coached me on how to get a cat scan done.

Formaldehyde is used to inactivate microorganisms used in vaccines, which is probably what this person has heard about. Formaldehyde is certainly a nasty chemical, but your body does indeed produce it as a building block for several essential processes. Some people can indeed be allergic to formaldehyde just as some people are allergic to water (which is usually a reaction upon skin contact in both allergies), but the wording of this makes it sound very unlikely that they actually are.

A few years ago I was helping a neighbor look for their dog who has been spotted after missing for months. He was acting weird but I figured he was just scared. He bit be badly and then ran off when a quick thinking friend dumped water on him. I went in and they STITCHED IT UP and said the rabies treatment wasn’t necessary. I couldn’t stop obsessing over it, so 2 days later while out of town I went to another Dr.. They said they should have never stitched it, as a bite needs to be cleaned out regularly and allowed to drain, and I was heading for a really nasty infection. She then told me about how rabies moves like an inch worm from the bite slowly up to your brain. Once there, it’s too late. I was horrified and started the regimen that day. When I got back into town my friend said they had found him and he was infected! I’m still a little terrified by how close I got to becoming rabid… and dead.

Right before a growth spurt my son would eat a lot then his eating would slow down after for a bit. Drive me crazy too, but my mom said as long as he was eating something he wouldn’t let himself starve.

My daughter is the same, will eat a bunch before then not much for a few days to a week. My son was always a light eater and I stressed a whole bunch about it. Doc said so long as his energy levels seem normal, his sleep is fine and his growth stays on track he will be fine. Kids eat when they are hungry, they won't starve themselves. Now that he is 7 he is starting to eat like a teenager. Will eat 2 grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.

Honestly my first kid had me freaking out constantly with changes like eating behavior. Its a ride. He'd go from eating constantly for a month to having to fight with him to sit down and eat anything in the day. I'll admit we went to the doctor about it too and bribed him with screen time but kids just be kids.

They tell women to avoid honey while pregnant, and many places use a honey glaze. Also, cinnamon has its own health issues for pregnant women, as it can cause bleeding in the placenta if ingested in large quantities. This is a question that makes sense. I believe the answer is yes, but like most things, in moderation. Too much sugar can also lead to complications during pregnancy, like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.

I'm a lymphoma cancer survivor, so have a rubbish immune system. Every year I get the flu vaccine and the 'Vid vaccine. I've had five 'Vid vaccines and Bill Gates still refuses to talk to me through all those microchips implanted in me! It's very disappointing. I'd ask for my money back, but I live in the UK so it doesn't cost anything. Do you think I could sue for miss-selling?

Well, yeah, you could, technology wise, inject a chip into a person. That's what a pet microchip is. People have done it to themselves as an experimental 'innovater' sort of deal, using implanted RFID chips in their hand to open electronic locks and that kind of thing. Ive become convinced that theres 3 teirs of people in these Facebook groups. Teir 1 are on the bottom- the ones asking the questions. No idea whats going on but just wants their children to be healthy... but thats not happening. Teir 2 are the people who give advice and it sucks but they're genuine and think it'll help. This is for the lesser crazy advice maybe like the bread dipped in milk. Breast milk isn't dirty, and dry few diseases are passed on through it (in fact breast milk is part of a baby's immune system as the mother will naturally make antibodies to any germs detected in the baby's saliva). No one is going to get infected by these brownies (where the milk was cooked anyway). **However** this woman knew full well what the reaction would be. This is the question - what was she actually trying to achieve? How did a mother 'find out'? Was this woman looking for a battle?

I have no idea about the US, but in the UK there is no way that this man's sperm could be used for IVF nor AI without his informed consent. Just because he has learning disabilities it doesn't mean he can't make an informed decision about this specific issue (every decision is different) so I guess it could be possible but also require an ovum and a surrogate. I kinda feel sorry for the mother, I feel like there's a deeper drive behind this one.

In Europe Tamiflu is only prescribed to individuals who run a high risk of dying from the flu. I wouldn't give it to a usually healthy 6 year old either.

Yeah, in this single extremely specific instance, I agree that the medication was probably overkill by the doctor. When I had a flu bug as a teenager, not long after Tamiflu came on the market, the doctor said not to bother, that it might shorten the illness by a day or two, but made the symptoms more intense. Antivirals in general just do not work that well and should probably be saved for very serious cases.

My neighbour, a chap in his early 30's, got 5 kids, hasn't vaccinated any of them, he believes that they inject you with all sorts of rubbish, doctors are quacks, and covid wasn't as bad as the governments around the world made out it to be, thinks the police are a waste of time and the illegal immigrants are to blame for all of it. I'm convinced he's going to be on national TV news for doing something awful. I've said to him numerous times he needs to see a doctor, but to no avail.

I fear for society. These kids will soon be running things and making decisions for all of us. The whole "home school" trend is terrifying. Public schools at least try to teach the basics that all kids need in the world, so if these are the people homeschooling, where is that going to lead? The antivaxers are going to bring back preventable diseases, and their own children, as well as others, will suffer. Kids need structure so that they can blend into society instead of difficult. Society kind of depends on it.
