I haven't been to a doctor in 4 years, not for a check up, not even when I got strep and an ear infection and needed antibiotics. I have health insurance but I'd have to pay $180 copay to even see a doctor! I have a Bachelor's Degree, a good full time job and another part time job but I still can't afford good heath insurance or to see a doctor. I'm screwed if I ever get really sick. In my state, if I was unemployed I'd have much better health insurance. This country is horrible

Genuine question: my mom's counterargument is always that it would take years and years before you could actually get a new whatever you need and that most people end up just paying private anyway. I think the main example she gives is that a friends friend lived in Canada and he needed a new hip and he was on the wait list for 7 years so he decided to come to America for replacement. I live in America and I think we all should have universal healthcare, but I'm wondering if this is actually the case

Yes but we have already paid for that through our taxes if you're someone who is never I'll you have paid for something you never use. That's why I encourage people to go to their doctor if they are ill because you have already paid for it.

Agreed. So, will you be willing to tell your friends-and yourself- to get out and vote? In every election from local ones to the Presidential?? Voting the old white men in ill-fitting suits and the younger idiots like them out of every office is the only way to change anything....

Because American doctors won't work for free. Medical supply companies won't give away the materials needed. Electric companies won't give the electricity for free. Etc... People and companies are greedy, they want something for what they give. The Places with free healthcare must have a lot of altruistic people and companies to support that system.

Sadly we pay for sick children , sick parents , sick pets oh and don't get me started on what we pay for them once they're dead. America is awful I'd gladly leave if I could.

Takes a long time in US too. Routinely takes 2+ months just to see my GP. Specialists well longer. I am ashamed of us really. In practice the way things work is the antithesis of every single bleedin' value we profess & promote.
