Before my sister was born, my parents found a kitten. They decided to keep it, because they could find no owner. Named her Princess. Anyway, my sister is 4 years older than I am. We both grew up with this cat. She'd sometimes follow us and watch over us. My parents used to make jokes about how she thought of us as her kittens. Now, my sister wasn't very nice to me. It took a lot of people a lot of time to realise she wasn't just nasty; it was full on abuse and bullying. My sister is a narcissist, but that's not what you need to know. When I was too young to understand what was happening, I used to talk to Princess. She was like my version of a diary; I'd sit with this creature that was older than I was and tell her all my problems. One day at a store, my mum told us she'd buy us each a lolly. My sister wanted a different one to me, and grabbed my arm and clawed her nails down it so hard it drew blood. Hurt a lot and I was really upset. When we got home I went and cried to Princess about how scared I'd felt. After a while I calmed down and went and played with my toys. Princess ambled out of the room. A few minutes later I heard a shriek and she ambled back in. Turns out she'd walked up and scratched my sisters hand, then hissed at her before coming back to sit with me, and watch over me playing with my toys. My parents assume that my sister provoked her, but I know. She walked out of the room right after I'd been talking to her, and walked in right after the shriek. I can't prove it, but I think Princess saw how scared I was and showed me that she'd protect me. I've never told anybody about my white and grey guardian apart from my currant cat. I haven't thought about Princess in a while. She lived to be between 19 and 21, depending on how old she was when my parents got her (she lived with them for 19 years; was around two when they found her). I loved that cat. Funnily enough, my new cat was originally my sisters. She got him, then left him with my parents, and he slowly became mine. He likes to sit with me more than he likes her.
I don't care whether this is true (in the sense of the cat doing it on purpose) the comfort OP got from Princess is real.
I'm in line at a cafeteria. The guy in front of me is holding a pudding cup. Someone walking by stumbles and falls into pudding cup guy, knocking his pudding cup out of his hand. While everyone is looking at stumbling guy, the pudding cup goes a good two feet straight up in the air. Pudding cup guy is totally focused and at the last second turns and catches the pudding cup behind his back. He looks at me, smiles and that was that. No one else saw it.
A fat squirrel in a tree threw a piece of fried chicken at me.

When I was 5 I woke up from my sleep and saw a man sitting on the stairs watching me. I wasn't scared though. There was something tranquil about it. I just watched him and he watched me for what seemed like 10 minutes. Then all of a sudden he was gone. A few days later I found out my dad was killed in Europe. I live in Canada and my parents were seperated. There's pictures of me with him when I was just born but he left shortly after that. To this day, that is the only memory that I have of my dad. A ghost watching over me. I don't believe in ghosts but I know what I saw. I've never told anyone before except my mom.

When I was about 10 years old I saw my old dog catch a crow out of the air then just gently release it.
I saw a bird shoplifting ring? A sea-gull walked into greggs and stole a packed of crisps (after looking through them all) and walked out, delivered it to another seagull who gave it to another one who opened it and they then all shared the crisps.
I don't know how many people I have told this but nobody believes me but honestly I understand why. When I was around 8 years old I was on vacation in Europe and I was at the zoo with my cousin and she got my some helium shark balloon. When we were getting into the car i let go of the balloon for some reason and watched it float away into the sky. Devastated I tried to forget all about it. About two weeks later I continued my vacation and went to my moms village about 700km away. The first day in my moms family home we go for a walk around the property and in the corner of the field I see it. My shark balloon floated into my very own backyard to find me again.
A chameleon escaped from a bag when my friend was giving it to me and it leapt into a big pile of snow. I looked around for it for a while but couldn't find it so I gave up. Several weeks later the snow all melted and I was out there and found the lizard partially frozen to the ground. I peeled him off and put it in one of those little plastic tanks and sat it by the radiator in my house. Within an hour or two the lizard was hopping around the cage like nothing ever happened. It lived for several years after that, and was known to my friend and I as Jesus the resurrection lizard.
I was at my mom's side when she passed away. I swear, seconds before she departed, I heard her and my grandmother (who had died in the 80s) behind me. Mom said "I really look awful," and Grandma said "It's time to go." I turned around but the sun was coming in through the window so a little bright. It was at that very moment that mom passed away.
That's really comforting to think that our loved ones will come to help us pass . Also it's worrying to think that there is more after death. I'm done with this f*****g life. I don't want more
In 1997, I was 17. I was driving my gf at the time home late at night and we are sitting at a stoplight on an overpass above a freeway. An 80's dodge omni comes flying up to the light across from us and barely comes to a stop while the light is still red. I look across at the driver and he looks panicked and frazzled, and I look over at the passenger and that's when s**t got real. There was a girl with duct tape wrapped around her face and shoulders. Her hair was all f****d up and she was crying. It took me a few seconds to even process what I was seeing. I looked at my gf and she looked at me and she burst out crying and said "WTF is going on in that car?" No sooner do I look back, the guy has already turned the wrong way onto a one-way street of the service drive of the freeway (in Michigan, it's common for north-bound freeway traffic to have a north-bound local road along the side of the freeway, for which he'd turned south). I freaked the f**k out. I threw my car in reverse. I tried backtracking and flying down city streets to catch up with him. We did see him at one point in time hit a turn around onto 8 mile, he didn't have a plate on his car. I hurried up and went home (I was only about a half mile from where we were when we saw him hit the turn around). I rushed in and called the cops while my gf frantically tried telling my mom what we saw. The cops came. They took our story. There was never a missing persons story that matched what we said. My mom never quite believed us. It was written off as two teens with overactive imaginations. I know wtf I saw. I'm a man in my 30's and I'll never forget the look on that girl's face. The crazy in that guy's eyes. My gf (who later became my wife, now ex) remembers it vividly, too. That was one of the most f****d up nights of both of our lives.
I slipped on icy stairs last winter and swear I saw my own butt crack as I fell. No one believes me.
I was at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. I walked up to the cuttlefish tank, and for some reason all 20 or so of the cuttlefish rushed over to me. It was a big tank, maybe 10 feet long. I walked the length of it, and they followed me. I walked back, and they followed. A few other people saw and tried it themselves. But alas, the cuttlefish only had eyes for me. My best guess as to the cause was that the guy who feeds them is my doppelganger.

I've had glasses since the third grade. I was playing tackle football with friends after school (I wasn't wearing glasses), tackled one of my friends, really big collision, for a second I regained full eyesight...then I blinked and it was gone again.

Reminds me on the squirell at the psyc ward herr in Sweden, where a poor patient almost was diagnosed with psychosis and drugged bc noone believed him. Luckily a staff later saw the squirell and called the police ,only to have them not belive it. But it all turned out well and the squirell was evacuated to the woods.
As a child I touched some weird pest plant in our garden, I think it stung me. Then I saw everything in inverted colors for a short time. And then back to normal. I was in such a shock, I couldn't explain it to my mom. I just went to her crying.
In 1994, on a farm in the southern Midwest US, five year old me had this huge yellow lab, sweetest dog in the world, who one day suddenly lost her s**t barking and ran outside. Being 5, I followed her and watched her run out into the cow pasture (where the cows were suspiciously nowhere in sight) and went toe to toe with a f*****g grey wolf.
That area at that time was definitely not wolf country. Coyote sure, but there is no way it was a coyote. Thing towered over my lab, and I'd seen plenty enough coyotes before to know that this thing was not that. My lab barked her damn head off right in his face, and after about a minute he tilted his head and then just turned around and disappeared into the woods. Found all the cows at the opposite end of the pasture circled around the two calves we had. They were never that terrified of coyotes, and they had no fear of domestic dogs (my lab literally climbed over them when they laid down and would tug on their tails - cows gave no f***s).
I will go to my damn grave saying it was a wolf I saw, but nobody believes me of course. I've spent years researching wolves and wolf hybrids but every picture I've seen of both the animal and the paw prints he left behind says it was very very very much more wolf than coyote or dog or even a mix.
My wife and I saw a wolf at Allerton Park in Monticello, Illinois back in the 90's. We caught sight of it chasing a deer (which are beyond plentiful in the University of Illinois - owned park) in broad daylight, from, at most, 20 yards away when it sat in the middle of the trail right in front of us. It was huge, as large as the deer it was stalking; we initially thought we were seeing 2 deer. Nobody believed us, but there's no doubt in our minds as to what we saw.
When I was about 6, my entire family was helping to build my grandparents a new house. I was helping my dad move some really long 2x4s from the lumber pile when a mouse ran out from under the board I had moved (out in the middle of the woods, mice were no big deal to any of us.) I did a double take though because THE MOUSE WAS FREAKING BLUE. I don't mean the sun reflected off its fur and it had a blue sheen to it, I mean a brilliant, royal blue. He was running fast but I got my dad to notice it too and he agreed that the mouse *really was royal freaking blue*. We've told multiple people, my mom included, and no one believes us. But we know what we saw.

Once when I was a teenager I was watching a movie by myself. The tv room then had two chairs separated by a couch. I was on the chair to the right, and at one point I laughed really hard at the movie. I heard someone else laugh and saw what seemed to be a girl my age double over in laughter in the other chair. The weird thing is it didn't startle me; it just felt nice to share laughter. Then I realized that I was alone in the whole house and the chair was empty. So I turned off the tv and went outside lol.

I had just applied to a job at a gas station on a major interstate route in the US, and I was leaving the lobby of the rest area building.
When I pushed the door open and walked out, I saw a seagull take flight from the top of a lamp post on the far side of the parking lot, which was shaped like a rectangle, with the building at one of the skinny ends. The only reason it caught my eye was because the parking lot was empty save 1 or 2 cars besides mine, and it was like my pushing the door open also pushed a button to trigger the bird to take off, the timing was perfect.
So I'm walking down the sidewalk, and I'm watching this seagull fly in my general direction following the edge of the lot, when it gets to the corner and turns so it's going to fly *directly* over me.
I think to myself "No way...." and sure as s**t, (heh. heh.) I see this seagull drop one in midair just before it gets to me. It's flying a good 20ish feet in the air, so I simply sidestep and watch as this giant blob of bird s**t liquid splats down on the ground, perfectly where I was.
So this seagull saw me walk out the door, and instantly decided it was going to try s**t on me.
Sometime in the early 2000s my wife and I went to an Eminem concert at the House of Blues on Sunset in LA (yes I know they are tearing it down and it sucks, I saw a lot of great shows there, including his royal purple badness). Anyway the entire show, maybe 90 minutes, there was a guy dancing on stage in a full mummy suit and he is doing really awkward and funny dances that you wouldn't expect from a background dancer at a rap concert but hey he's in a mummy suit so whatever. The show ends and Eminem screams into the mic "Do y'all wanna know who the m***a f****n mummy is?" and the crowd cheers and he screams "Dustin m***a f****n Hoffman!" He pulls a zipper in the back of the costume and out comes an extremely sweaty 60something year old Dustin Hoffman and the crowd goes into a stunned silence for a few seconds and then erupts in cheers. My wife and I just kinda looked at each other in disbelief and when I tell people they always say something like oh it must have just been someone found that looked like him but that guy was Dustin m***a f****n Hoffman and no I have no proof.
When I was 5 I liked to mix various liquids... playing chemistry, I guess. My grandma let me play with all her bathroom stuff. I mixed her shampoos and creams and cleaning products, etc. (I just realize now this might have been dangerous if I had mixed ammonia and bleach, for example). I swear I created a white liquid that produced a single black bubble that would come to the surface and pop at a regular interval. No one believes me, or maybe no one cares. I guess it's not that cool.

I was out for a walk late one night. This was in rural Illinois, so there was nobody else out. I noticed from a distance that there where these squirrels just standing in the middle of the road. Thought to myself that this is strange. When I got closer I noticed there where three squirrels standing around a cat that was lying down. I thought for a minute the cat was dead, but when I got closer and walked passed them, the squirrels and cat followed me with their eyes, none of them moving a muscle. It was a look like, "Move it along nothing to see here." Still to this day I think of how bizarre that was.
When I was about 10 they started putting missing children on milk cartons. Every morning for a while I was looking at this boy's face on the side of the milk while I would eat my cereal. Then one day a car went down my street while I was playing outside, and there was a boy in the back seat with his face up close to the window looking out. I'm 99% sure it was the boy from the milk carton. I told my parents but they didn't believe me.
Even if it turned out not to be him, it's better to report it just in case.
When I was 10 we had a 14 year old German Shepard who was getting very sick. I was home alone momentarily as my mom went to the neighbors to pick up a book or something. Our German Shepard came over, convinced me to walk outside with him and started licking my hands, looked at me, and ran away jumping the fence and he never came back. He was so loyal and good that to this day noone believes me and thinks he was stolen because he would never leave. I'm almost certain he did that because he didn't want us to see him die and he wanted to go to the massive forest area and do his thing. I miss you buddy.
EDIT: Those of you wondering why noone believes a kid on something that does happen a lot was that we lived in Iran at the time and the dogs (especially rare purebreds) we're usually stolen so my family thought it was a result of that. .
Dogs are kind of known to do this. At least I’ve always heard stories about this and know my grandmothers chocolate lab did exactly that. He had been sick then one day he just walked out of the yard into the woods.
Years ago, I left my laptop open at a Starbucks while I left to get my drink. When I returned, Bill Murray was sitting in front of my screen tapping away on the keyboard. I looked over his shoulder as he anonymously posted a number of stories regarding encounters with himself. They ranged from tackling others, stealing food and other fun oddities. When he finished, he closed my laptop, stood up, and looked me in the eye. Then he said, “No one will ever believe you” and walked away.
I was having a secret smoke one night and when I was finished I went to put the ashtray in my hiding place on the top of a high cupboard in my kitchen. Instead of getting the footstool I was on my tiptoes and stretching up to put the ashtray up there when I lost my balance and the ashtray slipped out of my fingers and fell down to the floor. I ducked out of the way so I didn't get covered in ash or get hit by the heavy glass ashtray and I heard it hit the ground behind me loudly and then clatter as it rolled. I sighed as I knew I'd have to clean up ash from the floor and was annoyed at myself for being clumsy. But then when I turned around to where I had heard it land there was nothing there. I honestly spent about thirty minutes looking all over that kitchen for the ashtray or even a trace of ash on the floor but there was nothing. It and its contents had simply vanished into thin air. I went to bed totally freaked out that night and had another look the next morning but it was still gone and I've never seen it again since.
In alternate universe, someone is complaining of an ash tray falling into their kitchen from nowhere and making a mess, and now they have to clean it up
I saw a bunch of crows, around 20+, gather around in a circle. I was like wtf and took a closer look to see 3 other crows in the middle of the circle, all on their backs. And some crows from the circle would hop in and try to peck at the 3 crows, while they cawed and tried to defend themselves with their feet. I know crows are smart and all but didn't expect this level of social behavior. It went on for a while before a kid ran in and scattered them all.
Look up “crow court” — it’s a thing. After they beat up whoever misbehaved, they often will ostracize them from the group until they’re ready to let the offender back in.
I know this will get buried, but I HAVE TO post this. I went outside early one morning and saw this woman kneeled in my mothers flower garden. I was a little sketched out. I was like, 10 and a person I didn't know was just sitting in the middle of our garden. Not knowing what to do, I just said hello to her. She turned around and immediately apologized for being in our yard, and said that we had such nice flowers she couldn't help it. Then she walked away. I thought it was cute, didn't think any more of it, and went about my day. My mom and dad left to do errands and my brother and I were home alone. We were both watching TV. Without any warning, someone taps my shoulder behind me. I freak out, turn around, and SHE IS STANDING RIGHT BEHIND MY BROTHER AND I. She apologized immensely and then asks where my mom and dad were, and I told her they would be back anytime, but that she really shouldn't be coming into people's houses. She agreed, and asked for a pen and a piece of paper, saying she wanted to write them a note. I complied and told her to do it out in the dining room. I peered from behind a corner in my hallway and never let her out of my sight. I was beyond afraid. She calmly sets the pen down, shouts thank you from the dining room, and then walks out the front door. I bolt to the window and make sure she's gone, then I bolt to the door and lock it. Then I nervously and very slowly approached the note she left on the table. I read it and was dumbfounded. She said that she believed god spoke to her in the garden, and told her to build an alter to her grandmother. The note was her scheduling an appointment with my mother to discuss placing a tombstone and a prayer table or something in the garden. My parents got home and I freaked out, I told them my mom had to talk to this woman. She left her phone number on the note. My mom took the day off work, sat out on the porch at the time the woman said, and waited for her to arrive. She never showed up. My mom called the number on the note, only to get a disconnected message. The only proof I had of any of these things happening was the note she left. My mom and dad don't believe most of the story, and it seems even my brother forgot about it, but I know it happened.
Sounds like the poor woman may have had dementia or a mental health problem. Probably vulnerable rather than dangerous.
I was at the airport and saw a businessman with a carry on wheely bag get off the escalator.
He turned the corner, broke into a sprint carrying the bag by it's small strap handle on top.
He swung the bag forward and let go of the strap handle. While it was in mid-air he grabbed the currently unextended extending handle, pressed the button and on the back swing extended the handle and landed it on its wheels and continued sprinting, all without breaking stride.
I swear that one day, in the middle of a pretty bad snow fall in Montreal, I was driving to meet a friend and saw a guy on a unicycle carrying a trombone. He was wearing ski goggles and just going down the street, heading somewhere. The tire on his unicycle was pretty thiçk, so I'm guessing this was his weather beater unicycle. When I got to my friend's place and explained it, they thought I was just trying to be funny. I swear it happened.
I believe it. There was a gang of them, they had unicycle fatbikes basically. They'd go up Mount-Royal off the authorized path, wearing suspenders and bowties. I was a conservation officer, my job was to ask them to stay off the illegal trails. So when the would see me, they'd start screaming and breaking branches to provoque me and jump and speed everywhere. Bunch of nincompoops. 😤 Lot's of other people doing ridiculous things, dangerous and damaging. Impressive imagination some have for destruction. Not mad I don't see all those crazies and selfish dumbidiots anymore tbh.
When I was about 10 or 11 we were having a get together at gma's house for the holidays. All of us cousins played all day, and when night fell we played hide and seek. While the adults smoked and drank up by the house, we stayed on the back of the property just having a good time. I was hiding in between a bush and the property fence when I heard the strangest sound. It was almost a scream, both happy and miserable at the same time. I jumped up and kinda shouted. All my cousins heard it, and we all saw it, too. It was an animal on two legs, and it ran off with really jerky motions. Being the oldest by about three years, I calmed down the crying little ones and explained as best I could that it was just someone trying to scare us. I've had nightmares about that sound; in my mind it seems a grotesque mimicry of our joyous screams and laughter as we played. None of my cousins today will admit to even remembering the incident, although the adults remembered the commotion it caused. .
I work for the Department of Corrections in my state in one of the oldest cell blocks in the country. There's a spirit in the 1940's guard uniform that strolls throughout the cell block. Dozens of us have seen him. He had even shown up on camera from time to time (live speed, when we rewind it, he's not there). We all know what we saw, but we decide it's best not to tell many other people because it's pretty unbelievable.
Ball lightning. It was right after a thunderstorm passed by. I could see floating orbs in the sky. There were a couple of cars parked by an open field and people were watching this happen, so I parked and got out to join them.
We all sorta just looked on in silence until they winked out one by one. There was at least ten of them and they seemed to fly together in patterns. Sometimes they were fast, other times they slowed down or reversed direction. They seemed small, but I could tell this wasn't because they were far up in the sky. If I were to guess, they'd be about the size of a basketball, maybe a little larger.
The whole ordeal only lasted thirty minutes. We then all got in our cars and left. I tried taking pictures but it was dark and the lights were too faint to make out. I should recorded a video instead. I noticed someone was recording them at the scene so I had kinda hoped I'd see it online at some point. But it's been two years now so I guess not.
We had a ball lightning in the kitchen. Very fast event, took out the freezer but no other damage. We just stood and looked, amazed.
In the 1990s, I was such an exercise freak. At least 4 hours a day walking and hillclimbing. I was getting cut off from current events, tv news etc. One day I'm on my way home, around 3pm.I'm crossing the street in front of our local grocery store and there's this guy on the other side of the street. His hair is a mess, standing on end. His clothes are all over the place, not ripped, but disarranged. Like he walked out of a bomb blast but he cleaner. He's looking around, silently, clearly confused. Homeless people were really uncommon in my area then and tended to be couchsurfers rather than streetsleepers. He looked too well to be a street sleeper plus he didn't seem to have a clue where he was but he turned left and wander off the my left before I crossed the road. That night, local news comes on. That afternoon a school teacher a couple of towns away had drowned. They flashed his picture up. It was the dude I saw. I'd swear to it.
Edit: detail I forgot. They never found the dude's body. Edit: well this blew up more than I expected. I'll try to answer most of the comments, those that I can. I didn't go to the cops. It didn't occur to me at the time. my gut instinct of seeing him on the news was that he was a ghost. The street was very crowded. No one was reacting to him at all. The whole thing had a funny feeling to it. Also this isn't a region where that is always a helpful move. I was actually pretty gun shy at the time because I'd been a witness in an assault case and it had resulted in severe life consequences for me with little outcome for the victim. He wasn't wet. Just really shocked and confused looking. I'd be surprised if he faked his death. By all accounts he was a decent dude from what I heard and had nothing to run from. I'm sorry I don't have more answers. This story haunted me precisely because there are none.

I was snorkeling in Hawaii once, and I swear I saw something that looked like a clear chameleon, but as soon as I got close it buried itself in the sand. I still vividly remember discovering a new species.
My friend and I were watching basketball in the early days that Charles Barkley was a panelist. He was apologizing for calling a team "midgets" and saying that he now knew it was offensive. But as they were going to commercial, we both heard him say over a hot mic "Besides, they shouldn't hate me, they should hate God." My friend and I were amazed, and convinced he would be fired. But not only did we never hear about it again, the clip doesn't even exist online anywhere. It's as though we had a double delusion.
Back in 8th grade I was sitting in maths class, and my classroom was at the front top left of the building (if that makes sense), and if I looked out the right side windows I could look across at the classrooms at the other side of the building. So one day I was just staring out the window, as you do in maths, and I saw the somewhat old (maybe 60ish), somewhat fat, balding history teacher climb out the classroom window across the way, and run across the roof. No one else saw it, and sure as hell no one believed me when I mentioned it!
One way to take a smoke break without worrying about students seeing you. In theory, at least.
Not my story, but my brothers. He lost his wallet and was retracing his steps looking for it. A homeless man approached him at a coffee shop and said to him "Don't worry. It's in the bathroom sink. Your wallet is in your bathroom sink" Later that night he did indeed find his wallet at home in the bathroom sink. A few days later, he saw the same homeless man and thanked him for his help. The guy became really irritated and told my brother he had never seen him before. Could have been a lucky guess, but I think Magical Bum makes for a better story.
While I was playing poker with a few friends, I was dealing and somehow managed to deal a royal flush on the board, giving every person a royal flush. This was well into our game and the cards were definitely well shuffled, and don't forget I'd also placed the burn cards down. The odds of this are so astronomical that, apart from the friends I was playing with, no one would believe it happened and would assume I'm just a liar.
The odds are the same as for any other specific order of cards. 1 in 52!, to be exact.
When I was about twelve, I was riding in the backseat of the family car. I looked over and the car next to me had three people sitting in the front (this was in the 1980s) and it was a man, woman and man. In that order. At the stop light, the woman leaned down and the two men leaned in and started making out. This was the first time I had seen anything like this. I was so dumbfounded, I couldn't even tell my family.
One time when I was really young, maybe like 10 years old, I came home after school and was making myself a salami sandwich. I pulled the bag of salami out and took out two slices. I smacked the two slices together, and suddenly they became one. I tried my hardest to separate them, but there was no seam or anything that I could split them up with. I even showed it to my mom but not a single person believed me when I told them. I had fused two pieces of salami together.
I don't believe in Alien invaders. I'm sure there's life on other planets, seems ridiculous that we'd be completely alone, but I'd imagine you couldn't keep a visit from interplanetary species a secret.
That said, I swear to god I saw a tall thin, long armed, long legged thing walk from one wheat field across the road, in front of my car and over into the other. I thought my eyes were just playing tricks on me so I didn't say anything for a second but the. My friend in the seat next to me said '...wait... did you see something just now?.'
No idea what it was but I saw.... something.
Late to the party, but I'll post my story. When I was about 7 or 8, I was at my grandmother's house in WV to spend the night, along with my brother and sister. It was Friday night and we were watching old school TGIF. There was a knock on the door and I jumped up to answer it (my grandma was in her bedroom and didn't hear it. I wasn't supposed to answer the door by myself, but I really liked to do it).
I opened the door and no one was there. I stepped out and looked to the left and right. To the right, beside the door, my grandma kept a small table. Sitting on that table was a Mandrill. One of those primates like Rafiki from the Lion King. I don't remember it moving, I just saw it sitting there staring at me.
I freaked out and slammed the door. My grandma came running out and I told her there was a monkey outside. She ran out my brother and sister ran to the door to see the monkey. I'll never forget when I ran out and that table was empty. My grandma told me I shouldn't tell tall tales and not to open the door when she wasn't around.
That's been over 20 years ago and my brother and sister still make fun of my for "seeing a monkey." I've done google searches about Mandrills escaped from the zoo in rural West Virginia, but no such luck. It is still so clear in my mind I am sure it was there, though.
It was just Barbra. West Virginians like country musicians, like Barbra Mandrill.
It was like a moth or something that looked like it, was a good couple of feet long. It was dark ish, on a main road, saw a few normal moths fly past me and as I turned my head watching them fly past I swear I saw this giant goddamn moth sat in the road; it was in the darkness between some street lights and looks like it sort of flew off further into the dark.
Was a pretty bizarre experience tbh, not even like I was drunk or high or anything.
I'm wondering if I saw the *Moth*ership
Update: So by the replies I've received, it was either mothman, a rare/unusual 'giant moth' type that got suuuper lost, an owl or bat, or an actual honest to god borderline cryptid *Giant Moth*
Good to know that others have had similar experiences though! I'm not totally crazy after all.
When I was in the US Navy in the midish 2000's, I was in the Western Pacific doing a tour on the USS Kitty Hawk. I was on night shift at the time and it was about 2am and there was a storm way off on the horizon lighting up the skyline something fierce to the portside. I swear to this day that i saw something that had to be about the size of a large skyscraper breaking the water, silhouetted against the horizon.
I've heard stories from people that have seen similar things. Only people that have seen similar things have ever come close to believing me. I don't blame anyone for not believing me. It's haunted me for over a decade. And I'll probably never know what it was. I just know there's creepy f*****g s**t out there. .
When I was around 10 years old I went down to a lake when I was on holiday. When I get down there I vividly remember a massive ball of lightning just hovering and then it struck the middle of the lake. I never ran so fast in my life back to the litte house we were staying in.
I was watching a football game a couple of years ago, and in one of the shots where they panned over the crowd I saw a girl look straight at the camera and mouth my name. Scared the s**t out of me, but when I rewinded it the seat was actually f*****g empty. Maybe I just need to find someone to fill that seat.
I once shot a bird with a BB gun. I didn't actually mean to shoot it I was just fooling around but I ended up killing the poor bird. But then something strange happened... Another one of the same species of bird came and looked at the carcass, then looked at me. I went inside my house not really thinking anything of it. Then I spotted it outside my bedroom window, still staring at me. It would follow my every movement, even if I moved somewhere else in my house it would come to that window. They next day I was surprised to find my ENTIRE driveway and car covered in bird s**t. To this day I have no idea how one bird could plot such a maniacal revenge.
A black deer. they're so ungodly rare and it was way out in the boonies of where I live and part of my family has connections to but I'm the only one that anyone knows to have seen it.
A bald eagle sitting on the side of a country road near Binghamton, NY. Biology professors told me to p**s off since they're apparently not supposed to be anywhere near Southern NY in the summer months. But I saw it and it was majestic as f**k, just sitting next to whatever it killed as I drove by. Didn't move.
Birds do have a habit of turning up where the maps say they shouldn't. It happens surprisingly often.
A monkey jumping from car to car on a busy street. I could probably draw a sketch of it even though this happened about 5 years ago. Definitely one of the most odd things I saw. Unfortunately everyone thinks I am telling a bad joke when I explain what I saw, or they just nod it off and continue not giving a f**k.
I was surf fishing at night with a friend when I was about 15. A hurricane was forming down south so the jersey shore was very rough tonight. We saw lights appear out over the water and move towards shore, it was rotating so the lights along its edge could tell us how fast it was spinning. It came toward us and was hovering a few hundred feet offshore, while the lights starting speeding up. It started moving north slowly, but spinning faster and faster. All of a sudden it just took off at an insane rate of speed. When it finally disappeared over Barnegat Lighthouse we went back to check our poles. When we started reeling in our lines, both of our lures were on the beach behind us about 30 yards down the beach. We were using striper lures as well so they needed probably 3 ounces of weight, So there's no way when we casted the wind blew it back behind us and onto the beach. I also remember the clock said 11 30by the time we got home, and I didn't think we spent 5 hours down there fishing. We used to talk about that all the time when he'd come visit the shore house, my parents would just laugh at us. Unfortunately he killed himself a year and half ago so I can't get any more details. I'll never forget it though, one of my best memories with him. Rip Jay .
I was sitting outside at a restaurant waiting for my food and a flying ant landed on my table. Cool, a flying ant! You don't see that too often. The flying ant then wiggled a wing into it's jaws and ripped it off! What. The. F**k. Then it wiggled it's other wing into it's jaws and ripped it the f**k off! I was obviously losing my s**t as other patrons began to stare at my reaction. The ant reflected on it's new position in life and walked off into the sunset.
I live in middle Tennessee. When I was ten, 18 years ago one night in my back yard I used a flash light because I heard a noise. At the back of our 1 acre was a field, our city was tiny back then and only had a couple thousand people. I swear I heard a lion like grumble so I used my flash light and pointed it in the darkness. At that very second I saw two glowing eyes staring at me. They were high off the ground and it was just sitting upright, and I swear it was a mountain lion. I hauled a*s inside my house. No one would ever believe me. In the last 12 months the TWRA has finally confirmed with video evidence f*****g cougars live/breed in middle Tennessee. I don't care if they think it's recent, I know for a fact that's what that was and this only confirms they've been here awhile. It's weird to see one at the Nashville Zoo, and to know they're in our woods.
This isn't really crazy but definitely one of those 'did that just happen, no one else seems to have noticed' things.
I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers play a show about 5 years ago. It was in a basketball arena, maybe 20,000 seats. It was a great show. Towards the end of the encore, lead singer Anthony Kiedis leaves the stage and the rest of the band continues to jam for another few minutes. He walks off stage and into the tunnel which is very dark, just enough light to show his silhouette. I SAW HIM mount what looked like one of those razor scooters and take off down the tunnel on it. Like a little kid.
No one in my section saw and I asked nearly everyone around me. No other witnesses, but I swear it happened.
Years ago, when my mom was pregnant with me she saw a monkey in the tree outside her house. She went to tell everyone but no one believed her, "Sure, pregnant lady."
But sure enough the news that night had a story about Zoo break out.
At a seaside flat on the balcony having a cigarette (am now 17 months tobacco free, don't smoke kids!) I flicked the butt and it hovered in mid air while spinning, until maybe 5 seconds later flew off really quickly.
I'm sure it was just the way the wind caught it but was really crazy and no-one else was around to see it!.
Was driving in a pickup truck with some friends and threw a can out the window, wind took it behind the cab, and it just hovered there for a few minutes as we drove along, everybody in the truck saw it, fluid dynamics of air can be weird...
Growing up, we had a door in the lounge with that glass in that distorts whatever is behind it. This looked into the hallway where the stairs were. My family and cat were in the lounge, leaving the rest of the house empty, but we all saw someone walk down the stairs, but no noise. (We had no carpet on the stairs, just wooden steps and they were creaky as hell). So weird.
When I was a kid and I was living in Egypt, I went scuba diving around the reefs in Alexandria, and I saw this really creepy yellowish brownish 2 foot long serpent thing looking back at me. I immediately got out of the water and swam to shore. I looked it up later and it turns out that what I encountered was a Gunther's sea snake, apparently one of the rarest sea snakes in the world.

I was a student at Central Michigan back in 2000 and I was driving back to campus. A pickup truck began tailgating me really closely on the rural two-lane road. Like anyone, I was getting all grumpy and offended over it. This went on for several minutes and finally I decided I was gonna brake-check him. I looked in my rear view mirror and readied the brake foot. I did not see the truck on my tail. Rather I saw him sliding upside down on his roof through someone's field, a cloud of dust rolling along behind him.
I continued driving, as this didn't immediately register with me what was going on, that guy may have just ended himself. Another ten minutes down the road my brain clicked back on and I got that awful feeling like I saw someone get super injured and I just I ignored it.
I turned around and drove like a maniac back to where's I thought I had seen the wreck. Got there, no emergency vehicles, no upside down truck.
I can still vividly see this truck upside down and the dust cloud.
TL,DR: Maybe I was tailgated by a ghost truck.
A man dressed as a confederate soldier walking down my street as I was heading home from work. There was a school bus coming and he stopped on the other side of the road, as if to let the bus pass before crossing, and I stopped at the stop sign. We looked at each other, the bus passed, and then he was gone.
he might've been some kind of historical reenactor? i know that's a thing in some places
Watched a white light hover in the distance between two mountains, then it moved up, then down.
At that point I called my buddies outside to watch it. We witnessed it move side to side, then in a perfect clockwise circle, then anticlockwise. Next it started doing tight figure eights one way, then back the other way. We watched it then move diagonally to the left then back to centre, diagonally right and then back to centre.
During this we discussed the possibilities of what it could be, a helicopter, a skilled pilot, a series of spotlights? The speed at which it moved and the fact it didn't waver slightly and the fact the motion was so fluid left us without an explanation.
As we discussed and watched the movements, the light moved even faster up, down and diagonally. It the sped off to the right at a speed we could barely focus on. It was now about three kilometers on the other side of the mountain and then suddenly it took off straight up and out towards the stars till it was gone. .
Oh my god so I was on a flight to Prague and I was just looking out of the window and I saw another plane and I remember thinking 'that's really close' and it kept getting closer and closer and I watched as it literally flew OVER the top of the plane I was on... like I remember it being like maybe like 10/20 meters above our plane?? (My depth perception is terrible but it was super f*****g close) and no one believes me but I SWEAR TO F**K it happened 😩

It can happen. In a world of RVSM (reduced vertical separation minimum or stay at least 1000ft away from above or below other planes) , TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system or don't hit other planes) and ADS-B (or where am I and where are you??) but pilots and air traffic controllers do make mistakes... I would imagine it was a bit further than 20m though because planes are generally really freaking big and there aren't many marker points to show scale in the air
Saw what I think was a ghost. I was maybe 14 at that time and walking with my uncle and cousin around midnight-ish. To our left was a school but with a tall concrete wall between us. About 100 meters in front of us was this man wearing all white walking perpendicular towards the school. Not minding it much we kept walking and I s**t you not I saw the dude walk right pass the wall and just like that he was gone. My cousin I think saw it too but didn't say a word, I just saw him hold on to his dad. Me, I closed my eyes and held on to my uncle's hand until we passed the school.
I think I’ve posted about it on BP before, but years ago I was walking back to my room from the bathroom late at night and came to that sudden dead stop you do when you think you’re about to walk into someone. I assumed it was a flatmate, then realised that the male figure was walking through/along the corridor wall, so I only saw their right side. I did not turn round to see what happened after he walked past me! No, siree, I was back into my room with the door locked ASAP!
I had an empty toilet paper roll and I threw it in a trash can and it hit something in there and bounced out and then hit the sink edge and then the wall and it went back in the trash can. Craziest s**t I've ever done in my life and I have zero proof.
When I was a little kid, about 9/10, I was sat on the bay window in my room and saw an object in the sky. It was moving straight up and was covered in little dots of coloured lights, some of the colours I didn't recognise. I jumped off the bed to grab a pair of those s****y binoculars everyone had as a kid, but in the 5ish seconds that took, it had moved out of the angle my window let me see.
The 2nd, I was in the car with my mum when I was 15ish. We were just driving down the street and as we drove past a bus stop, there was a woman sitting there. She didn't have a lower jaw, it was just missing. Her tongue was just flopping about. I have no idea if people can be without jaws, but I'd just watched The Ring and it freaked me the hell out.
Another I've just remembered, when I was 13ish, our 1st family dog died, he was a Jack Russell, mostly black, with a white chest and a few brown markings and he used to sleep in my parents room. I was on the computer chatting on MSM, the computer room was next to my parents room. The way the PC was located made it so I could see the door, but only out of the corner of my eye. I saw a black shadow, a similar shape and size to the dog run past the door into my parents room. I like to think it was his last time visiting us before sleeping and going wherever he was going next.
While having a picnic at dusk by an airfield in San Antonio in 96 or 97, my girlfriend and I saw a space shuttle land and quickly get taken away with out anyone else around. I was thinking the air traffic was pretty light and was bummed because normally there were a lot of of big air force transports that would land there, but this particular evening there was nada. And then I saw something coming in very fast and very steep. I could tell it was a shuttle before it touched down. It was an unidentified space craft... literally... it had no markings that I recall. It was met by one of those tow truck rigs and was taken immediately to a hanger. The doors were promptly closed. No press. No nothing. It wasn't until later I read about the CIA blue space program.
Once when I was in grade school on the playground I saw this big ol... thing flying across the playground. Looked black with hummingbird type wings, was too blurry to see clearly as it was moving quite fast. Thing was it was the size of a year old kitten. I reached my hand up to try and swat the giant thing for some reason and i swear i brushed it but it didn't react, just flew on by. Still wonder wtf that thing was today.
One night I was sleeping at my grandparents place. I woke up around 3am needing to pee. I raised my head slightly and looked at the base of the mattress I was lying on and saw a gown just floating there near the wall at the height it would be if a person was wearing it. I froze for a couple of seconds before quickly rushing to get my phone to shine the light on it. By the time I did there was nothing there. Safe to say I was scared out of my mind when I finally worked up the courage to get up to pee. .
Few years ago I spent some time exploring Death Valley solo. This one night, I was at a dispersed camp near Hole in the Wall and I was looking west at the Sierra skyline, the sun had just set, and I was watching a light off the horizon, what I thought to be a helicopter by the rate of its speed and altitude. I remember wondering what the hell a helo was doing out there, when suddenly the light sped up to the speed of an airplane, and began changing directions on a dime. Didn't sleep much that night, and it still bugs me to this day. .
A Kamikaze pigeon. I'm just sitting at a red light when a group of pigeons fly by. One of these pigeons makes a sudden nose dive heading straight for a car. I'm not sure if anyone saw it but the light turned green and the car started to roll forward messing up the pigeon's path. It ended up missing the car and smacking into the concrete, i assume, dead on contact.
I was driving down the motorway and I saw something fall from the sky, it looked like someone with no parachute. I didn't see a plane or hear anything about it, but I definitely saw it fall, whatever it was.
I was in the uk. I can't remember where though. Somewhere on the M1.
I saw Tom Jones in a back street in Santiago, Chile, going in the back door if a club.
I was out, stargazing by myself. I remember a thunderstorm was off in the distance, and it was a moonless night so there was quite a show. I noticed a satellite hauling a*s across the sky...then it turned 90 degrees. Not gradually, like turned on a f*****g dime. Did it 3 more times before dashing completely across the horizon in about 6 seconds. I have no logical explanation of what I saw. I had been sober and d**g free for about 7 years when I saw this, and to my knowledge nothing man made had that kind of maneuverability or sudden. Heat of speed.
Went and got the mail from the previous day at like 7 am. No one was around, but this massive black dog was walking around my neighbors Ford Windstar. By massive, the dog's head went to the windows and when his head was at the back bumper, his hind legs were still at the driver's door.
A friend of mine is absolutely convinced that she saw William Shatner in an Ikea once. She has no proof, but she still stands by her claim almost a year later.
A water spout, a tornado that forms over water. I was out walking my dog along the beach, when I saw it forming about a mile out to sea.
Ditto. Off the coast of a major city. No mention of it ever appeared in the newspaper.
When I was in Zion, hiking bright angles trail, I swear I saw a pair of California condors. I know they're rare as f**k, which is why I was so surprised.
I lived in an income based apartment complex and I watched a kid take a s**t behind a tree next to his apartment building and then step in it.
I saw Jon Voight outside the Baskin Robbins in colonial Williamsburg in 2010 or 2011... I swear it was him, I said it to my friend who was next to me and she didn't know who he was (we were students at William and Mary at the time). He must have overheard cause he come over and stood near me and said nothing waiting for me to ask if it was him... but I chickened out. JON VOIGHT, if you see this, WAS IT YOU?!.

I pulled over and got out of my car and just stood there as this literal cloud of butterflies fluttered past me, all around. It was so beautiful, these delicate little creatures making such a journey. It was the closest I've ever come to seeing something that I felt was magical. So, not supernatural or weird, but pretty cool.
Not supernatural but VERY rare- and maybe never again, who knows. I envy you.

I saw lightning strike the CNTower in Toronto while I was driving along the Gardner. Just as the lightning struck, the radio station on my car radio changed without me touching it.
I saw a whippet chase a squirrel up a tree, it got about 4ft up the trunk before gravity took over. Mr Auntriarch pooh-poohed it and cast aspersions on the precise ingredients of my morning coffee. Luckily the next week, he saw it happen.
