50 Of The Worst Examples Of “Shrinkflation” Shared In This Online Group (New Pics)
Have you ever stopped and noticed the product you bought a while ago being smaller now than it was before? Well, perhaps you weren’t dreaming when you thought that. With recent inflation that has touched most countries all around the world, companies now more than ever are trying to hike up the prices for their products, and some of them are smaller than before, be it a roll of toilet paper or even a pack of gummy bears.
A popular subreddit called “Shrinkflation” has consumers posting and discussing all the ways the manufacturers are trying to trick our eyes into thinking that the product is still the same, whether it may be the size, formula, or even subtle changes in the packaging quality.
If you’d love to see more products that were “shrunken” in size, make sure to check out our previous post on Bored Panda by clicking here.

Hellofresh 10 Oz Meat Package
Call Department of Weights and Measures, baby! They handle these cases.
Load More Replies...This is one reason I didn't continue with Hello Fresh after the introductory discounts - Even when the sizes were right they were ridiculously small portions. Also a lot of the ingredients were already going off when they arrived. 1/10 would not recommend.
I concur, such small portions and so much packaging waste. I had a meal missing the main protein but they wouldn’t credit me unless I committed after the trial. I was like, you’re not willing to credit me for something I’ve already paid for?!?! I believe they call that theft. Buh-bye.
Load More Replies...This is a violation of the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA), which is federal law. Report this to the NIST Office of Weights and Measures.
Nowadays, as inflation reached a 40-year high in a lot of countries across the globe, many are struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, companies are continuing to scam everyday people, making life more difficult while most of us are counting our pennies.
I Really Hate These Tactics To Deceive
Please complain to the company! If we don't tell them how dissatisfied we are then they will continue to get away with it.
Dove Soap Shrinks Again!
idk why, but since i was a kid i’ve always love the way these look.. when i was 7 i would beg my mom to just let have a soap to myself to stare at 😭😭
I agree- i dont use these soaps but find them very pleasing to look at and conforting to hold.
Load More Replies...im just confused why they are taken a picture of dove soap every year
they probably noticed it was already less, and it would personally lead me to do the same lol
Load More Replies...It seems that nearly everything sold is shrinking, as the prices continue to skyrocket! I recently purchased a few groceries and once at home, found my gallon of 2% Milk was actually 96 ounces, "NOT 128 oz." The price was less than a full gallon, but "by the ounce", the 3 qts of milk were actually more expensive! Just one more deceptive way of raising prices to boost profits! GREED is of out biggest problems in the world today!
Shrinkflation is a strategy often used by businesses to subtly lower a product's size or weight in order to make savings without raising the overall price. There’s also an uncommon kind of shrinkflation when a business substitutes less expensive ingredients or increases the amount of water while reducing the amount of other ingredients in their products.
The Big Mac Pickle Is Thicker Than The Big Mac Patty!
If McDonalds see thuis the store will get in trouble for slicing their pickles too thick
I got a Big Mac today actually and it only had 1 patty! I felt cheated
All the sandwiches are smaller. The chicken nuggets are getting thinner all the time
I rarely eat it but sometimes on my way home I'll get a craving for some junk...and when I'm sitting in the parking area having my secret burger binge all by myself, I'll look over and see another 4 cars, all with middle aged women such as myself, doing exactly what I'm doing 😅
Load More Replies...Wtf, Crayola??? I Spent $9 On A Set Of Colored Pencils With A Good Variety Of Colors, Only To Find Out The Pencils Aren't Full Size. Nowhere Does The Packaging Indicate They're Colored Golf Pencils
That's weird. I bought a 64 pack and a 120 pack in the past year. The pencils are full sized
Well unless they folded them in two, there is no way a full size pencil would fit in that box. By what can be seen, it looks like the front row of pencils is as tall as the opening line on the box. So they are about 3/4 the size of the box. I assume the others are tiered like seats in a stadium, which I would agree with the OP, is slightly unexpected.
i’ve seen these, you can tell by the regular * box hanging that these are shorter 🤦🏻♀️😂
It's in the same box as a 64 pack of crayons,if you buy a 64 pack of crayons do you expect them to be the size of pencils?
Load More Replies...The uhh..... the size of the package does though! Lol. What did you think they were disassembled?
With that being said, a lot of concerned people online tend to think that companies should be striving to become more clear about being transparent given their practices, especially price increases as well as explaining why they are happening in the first place.
Gatorade Using Same Size Bottle With Bigger Indent
I don't know why, but when I saw your comment, I thought of Mushu (Mulan): "Dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family! Make a note of this. Dishonor on you!"
Load More Replies...They may have a bigger indent, but the volume is written on the bottle, you pey per volume of liquid, not per bottle shape.
They expect people to not check. It looks like you're getting the same volume as always...until you look real close.
Load More Replies...Here in the UK we have a brand of spreadable cheese called 'Seriously'. The bigger pack you buy, the bigger the bottom dent. It takes up nearly half of the packaging.
I Noticed The Cans Were Shaped Differently — Taller But Narrower — Then Found Some Older Chunky Cans Hidden In The Back
Shouldn't the old cans be in the front? Ya know, rotate stock correctly?
Maybe the person stacking the shelves thought, Oh I'll hide these behind the smaller cans so I can stock up when I shop later.
Load More Replies...bro I almost bought a different kind of drink once bc it was taller than the one I was gonna buy but I checked the oz and it was less than the shorter one... weird how our brains work, isn't it? :)
Sometimes we are all in such a rush to be in and out, and never noticed these things, my own personal thing is reading the expiration date on the meat that is put in the front, I’ve gotten on much bad / sus meat I had to throw out
Upvote for noticing a difference AND checking the back of the shelf! 😸
Still, in some countries, like Brazil, companies cannot get away with reducing the product’s size or quantity without them having to state that on their labels for the next 6 months.
While some countries have laws to protect their consumer rights to a great extent, do you think other countries should be following that example in times like these as well?
School Meals In 2022
Well, there's that parenting thread where the kid wanted chicken with no meat.
They just didn't expect that the void would stare right back.
Load More Replies...This looks like a mistake and not a deliberate reduction in the size of the filling. Quite how they managed to form the breadcrumbs around the non-existant filling is another matter!
The 'filling' is there....the breadcrumbs are surrounding what looks to be very flattened chicken ick. At least that's what I'm seeing...I had to look a few times.

Yep, I use the max fresh one, and if anything, feels more hollow in tube
They Are Coming For Our Shop Towels, Same Price As Before
This is like when you cut an avocado and the seed is as big as the moon, leaving you with a teaspoon of actual fruit.
Well, that is just wasteful. Some companies have been shrinking toilet rolls, and I thought paper towels too, the other way - going from a wider tube to a slimmer diameter tube whilst keeping the same number of sheets. Reducing the tube size makes the full roll slimmer, and reducing the volume of the product would decrease the packaging required, allow them to box more packs together and so reduce transport costs. What is in the photo isn't deceptive of the customer, it doesn't help the environmental impact.
I have noticed this too compare the sheet size they are narrower still the same amount of sheets.
They did the same to our warehouse tape. We go through it like crazy, and now it's twice as bad because the roll is half the size it was before.
Ok, why the hell is the company making and shipping those larger cardboard tubes not also making smaller products?
They're Starting To Get More Creative
Not shrinkflation, just bad storage. The chocolate is applied through dipping, so at production the ice cream was there. The ice cream was kept too long in a hot place, partially melted and then refrozen.
Yes, unless the ice cream from a different batch is the same, this can be a one off. It had happened during times of prosperity too, production errors happen
Load More Replies...forget the socks! you could've atleast washed your hands before picking up that ice cream...
Well, I don't think this is a common thing. That was just a manufacturing defect.
Funny how the sock gets all the attention and nobody notices the THUMB.
Thought This Group Was A Joke… I’m Sorry
That's just a manufacturing error, not shrinkflation. I buy that brand at Walmart & they're full size. The difference is the count/pkg, not the size/stick

Chobani Raised Their Prices And Then Cut The Amount Of Toppings By 2/3rds On The Flips. Won't Be Buying These Anymore
The marketing execs in all these companies scra5ch their balding heads wondering why their consumers are abandoning them and make up some wonky tale that absolves them of any responsibility, collect their 15 to 20 % pay rises, their bonuses and then jump ship having destroyed another previously reputable and loved brand. IT MAKES ME SICK.
Used to love these. Haven’t had them since before covid. This is just sad.
this is why i choose a different brand with full toppings... i can't remember what it is

“500g Ain't 500g These Days“
I read somewhere that there is a +- allowed difference. Not sure if 5% or 10%. And some producers, to increase profit, use it to their advantage.
There is almost always a margine of error allowed, but that's supposed to compensate for instrument error, not let you package 5% less than what you are advertising
Load More Replies...The packaging says "500g e". The "e" means estimated, as the machines have a margin of inaccuracy so the weight has to be within those margins. An acceptable margin for something between 500g-1000g in the UK is 15g (https://www.pid-labelling.co.uk/what-does-the-e-symbol-actually-represent/) and I believe the same tolerances would apply elsewhere. So OP is only 1g below the tolerance, and that could theoretically be down to the scales they are using.
Depending on legislation this error may even be allowed if the number of packages below the lower margin is "sufficiently small" to pass some statistical test. No package may have a negative error of more than _twice_ the margin - in this case, 30g. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_sign And: on average, the amount given on the packaging must be met. So there should be one or more packs out there that have more than 500g in them to make up for what is missing in this one.
Load More Replies...It's the e next to the amount that apparently gives them the right to rip us off... 😥
20 Fewer Tabs And Also 20% Price Increase
Noticed that with my Tide Pods as well. My old pack was somewhere around 100 pods, but the new pack has somewhere around 88. And the box is the same size as the old one.
Used pods for the first time. The amount they tell you for size of laundry is ridiculous. Went through them in no time. 😡
Load More Replies...Another sneaky things too is that they now class a half load as a load of washing.
But, strangely, if you owe them a dollar, they wouldn't accept a fifty-cent piece as full payment.

This Is False Advertising "The Original"
That's the only part of the Oreo that matters! It's rather they make the cookies smaller!!!
Oreo was created in 1912 as an imitation of Hydrox (1908). Oreo eventually exceeded Hydrox in popularity, which resulted in the Hydrox cookies being perceived as an Oreo off-brand. Compared to Oreos, Hydrox cookies have a less sweet filling & a crunchier cookie shell that is reportedly less soggy in milk.
What a very chemically sounding name... Hydrox. Does not sound appetising in the slightest.
Load More Replies...Anyone else see these things called 'neos' in their shops? Yep, it's just a ripoff Oreo.
Coke Machine vs. Product Dispensed
This is a case of the owner of the vending machine stocking it with the smaller bottle, not an issue of Coke actually shrinking the product. The 20 oz bottles are normally sold individually, while the 16.9 oz bottles are the ones usually sold in a 6 pack.
You’re absolutely right, I saw the vending guy restock the machines, it was all the individual single products we ourselves can get, probably making 300% profit
Load More Replies...Thank you!!!! I've been trying to figure out what oz means. So glad to finally know. You're the MVP.
Load More Replies...For US readers, a UK pint is 20 fluid ounces, 568 ml. A US pint is 16 fl oz, 473 ml.
Load More Replies...500ml isn't 1 pint though, it's 0.879 pints. Unless US pints aren't the same as normal pints around the world.

Figured Out What "Improved" Means
I make croutons when our bread gets stale. Cut into cubes, toss lightly with EVOO and any seasonings you like. Bake at 350 for 10 to 20 minutes stirring once or twice. Cool and store in air tight container or ziplock bags. You can even freeze them as long as they are completely dry first
I do this, too. I made thanksgiving stuffing using this method before, too. Probably just a matter of time before they make our bread smaller, though. Then we'll have to resort to making our own bread and then the flour companies will start making smaller quantities at the same price. Then we will have to resort to growing and harvesting our own wheat, except housing/property prices are already out of control to where no one can afford any semblance of a yard. I don't think I'm exaggerating either. This is EXACTLY what's happening right now. We're being nickel and dimed to absolutely no end just so some billionaire can buy a second/third/fourth Bentley or whatever. These companies absolutely need to be held accountable, but they won't be.
Load More Replies...Texture, and the spices go well in the salad. Well, at least to me, but I don't use salad dressings.
Load More Replies..."Improved recipe" usually means replaced with cheaper, less flavourful ingredients.
Stale bread? I actually had to explain to a coworker that croutons are not just stale bread they are cooked. He wouldn't eat croutons in a restaurant because he said it was just bread they left out overnigh. I said no croutons are baked. He was like yeah of course you bake bread then wait for it to get stale. It took me probably 10 minutes to explain to him that's not how it works.
Haven’t Been To Chipotle In Awhile. What The Actual F* Happened To Their Burrito Sizes? They Used To Be Footballs

they serve way too much food over here [us] anyway. i would gladly pay 2/3 of the price for 1/2 the serving. i realize i'm older but my sweetheart and me go out to eat, split one entree and then even bring some home for later.
Load More Replies...I love Chipotle. It's my go-to when I've been too busy to eat all day. I don't have $ problems but I refuse to pay $17 for a burrito and chips when real Mexican places are charging <$10 for better food.

I mean they're already puffed with air, soon they will just be loose crumbs in a bag.
Yes the box is oversized, but are there nine ounces of cereal? That's what matters.
Technically, the weight is probably as advertised. But I think the point for the retailer is that net weight doesn't mean much conceptually to the average person. They'll see a bigger box and think they're getting a better deal than they are and will choose the product.
Load More Replies...Yup, cereal boxes are now getting thinner front to back but still as tall. Less cereal inside but it looks the same as always.
I don't think anybody actually expected the spoon and bowl to come in the box...
It should be illegal to do things like this. There should be a limit on how much larger the packaging can be compared to the product, unless the product itself is clearly visible, with no deception. Only things like SD cards, it's perfectly fine to make the packaging larger, since you know exactly what you're getting.

It's Real
Notice the correlation between the sour meter and the fullness of the packing... Can't say they didn't try to warn you...
Oh You Were Hoping For 10? Sorry
That's a bit ridiculous. Since they redesigned packaging anyway, could have made it into 3x3 rows instead.
They would need to adjust whole packaging process - the way the machines alignes them.
Load More Replies...This is insidious. Manufacturers jumping on the shrink flation bandwagon of highway robbery all because of corporate greed. Profits have increased every single year and more so during the pandemic. In Ontario many restaurants, fast food providers have stopped serving lettuce because of sky high prices. Grocceries store chains are unable to sell a lot of expensive produce and donate it to write it off….
I don’t understand that. Cold medicines do the same thing

Load More Replies...At least they seem to have shrunk the packaging, too, rather than just the volume of contents.
The volume of the liquid inside is written on the front of the package. So you do know how much product you buy. 591 vs 532 ml
Oh man, this is the first product on the list I use. Now I feel like I’ve been conned.
... as if a worse ratio between plastic surround and actual product would be what we need right now. This may spare a huge corp a few dimes, but cause actual cost in the future, already was so, but gets worse this way. These companies should be fined in a way that it really impacts them doing such ONCE, for one production run, and be fined and fined and fined until they stop.
What Is This Bro
😂 I can’t anymore. It looks like it got run over!
McD's food has never looked like the picture. Remember "1/4 pound" is the pre-cooked weight. That, and something looks off in this pic. The patty is noticeably larger than the bun.
It's the rare franchise (Micky D, Wendy, BK, DQ, ...) that produces anything close to the glamor shots that they display.
Load More Replies...When you look at how they do these types of photos, with fake products because they look better in the picture/on film, ingredients moved to the edge so they show up in shot etc, it is not surprising. I often think the photos should come with a little disclaimer.
My McDonald's still has the nice thick patty. QPC is one of my favorites!
Okay, so I work at McDonald's, and, while nothing, anywhere, EVER looks like the picture, I highly suspect employee error, here. See, the grills have a planchette, or clamshell, that lowers down over the burgers, to cook them from both sides at once. There are different settings, for "reg" meat (like regular small ham/cheeseburgers), quarter meat (like the quarter pounder), bacon, sausage, etc. The quarter meat setting doesn't lower the clamshell as much as the others. So if you cook a piece of quarter meat on the reg meat setting, the clamshell with lower farther, because reg meat is thinner than quarter meat. And it will squish the quarter meat flatter and wider than it's supposed to be. Not supposed to serve it that way, supposed to put it in waste and start over. But it's possible that may have happened here. Can't confirm, ofc. But just a theory.
Campbell's Soup New Taller (But Smaller) Cans
Since the packaging is by far most of the cost I the product cost might actually have gone up (due to the higher can). Stupid.
The manufacturing cost did go up. In a cylinder, when the height and diameter are equal, the minimum possible amount of material is used. Making it a bit shorter but a bit wider would have reduced costs.
Load More Replies...I don't know what makes me madder, this shrinkflation c**p or the fact that they think we are all so stupid we would never notice the trickery.

The real lie is that Aquafina is tapwater!!! Purified yes... but still tapwater
DON'T DRINK THAT! It's tap water! Drink tap water! It's free.
Why anyone spends a fortune on bottled water when they could buy a really good purifier for what they spend in a relatively short time is beyond me. And bottled water isn't even all that safe, what with micro-plastics leaching into the water.
When you’re out, or if you’re VISITING a country with bad tap water, unfortunately this might be the only alternative
Load More Replies...If you want good water, buy spring water, not purified water. Purified water is basically just tap water with a few minerals added maybe. In most cities the tap water is perfectly fine, yet people literally waste thousands of dollars a year buying bottled water.
Some people are weirded out by the idea of drinking tap water, hence why they buy a Brita (or Waterpik or whatever brand) water pitcher/tap filter or get one of those little skinny additional faucets put in their kitchen sink to have filtered water. Or have a fridge that has that option or a water cooler. The city I live in has decent-tasting tap water but I also use a Brita water pitcher.
Load More Replies...Just asking, where the hell do u guys live to get vending machines which only serve water and coke?
Sue them. There must be more vending machines ad'ing it that way, and delivering the reduced new bottle, too - thousands of people might join. I'm really sick of it, everywhere, this happens, with each and every product, and still, "the economy" gets pampered just like in every crisis. If THEY give US 10 % less - how are they still suffering from 10 % inflation? They're not. They're shifting the cost and collecting the aide. Just as all the time. The word "Company" alone is only an inch sort of being an insult already, and rightly so!

10 bucks at Costco for 40+ oz. Membership pays for itself if I only bought coffee from there.
Starbucks sells me 1 lb. Of beans, 16 oz. And it may be more expensive, but at least it’s not. 12 oz. Of not so great tasting coffee. I grind every 2 days as I love the blend and the fresh taste. Yukon blend. Wonderful and not bitter when made a bit stronger.
I started to buy beans. Except for the husbands coffee likes. He enjoys EOC Maple Bourbon flavor. I tend toward non flavored coffee and put the sugar free flavors in to it. But, a pound of coffee at the grocery store, ground, isn’t a pound, but 12 oz. For 8.99-10.00 . Starbucks has my favorite blend, Yukon Blend, 1 pound of beans, 16 oz. Is 19.99. But I am not short changed on product! Rather pay more for better coffee than ore for cheaper and less weight coffee. I prefer the fresh grind! Will grind every day or so, to get that taste.
Transfer the grounds and save the old can. Then unlearn how to read numbers. There, I fixed it for you.
Glass Coke Bottles Shrunk
330ml is the standard size of a can over the world so probably not a bad thing.
330ml is pretty much a standard now as far as I noticed. I think I’ve never seen 385ml bottle before
In the UK glass bottles used to be 250 ml so actually an improvement. Also they shrunk the original flavour bottles here because the gov decided to add sugar tax for being unhealthy. They shrunk the bottle so they could charge the same but now still put the price up.

I do wish they wouldn't fill the bottles quite so full (as much as I like the taste) because I have to be very careful when I open them (especially in a moving vehicle) because it is very easy to spill it when it is that full *I know this is a first world problem, but it is annoying, I don't want to waste yummy tea!* Dear Pure Leaf: ease off a little bit (like a teaspoon's worth) when filling these bottles, please!
Well Now They’ve Gone Too Far. [keebler Rainbow Chips Deluxe - Should Have 3 M&m’s Per Cookie]
Are they somehow guaranteed to be three M&Ms per cookie? Does the packaging say so? I looked at screenshots of the packaging and I don't see any guarantees of three M&Ms per cookie. The photo of the cookie on the pack has three M&Ms, but product pics on packaging are usually Photoshopped anyway. I'm not trying to say that they're not a gyp, but I don't know where OP is getting "they're supposed to have three M&Ms per cookie" from.
Not The Santitas Chips!!!
We order chips. And salsa Fromm the taquerias, and thee baggies for large is huge! We eat some then bag up and enjoy for a week or so. Same price as two anemic bags of store chips. But oh so much better! Then the lg. salsa? I add to it with my own blend and it tastes amazing.
The Gag Is, They Raise The Prices Anyway
Here, let me help you, it says "Companies use this tactic to avoid raising prices". Don't know how putting a yellow circle on a Doritos package means not raising prices though. :))))) :P
Load More Replies...For those who can't make it out, Oreos on the left is 14.3oz (405g) and the one on the right 12.2oz (345g). Doritos, however, I've not a clue.
Of course they're raising prices. Years ago, I politely emailed Quaker because I noticed that their granola bars had gone from 12 per box, to 10 per box, at the same price. They gave me the same song and dance about "we didn't want to raise prices." I responded, "If you're charging me the same, but there are two less bars per box, guess what, you're raising prices!"
If you click the lucygucyapplejuicey in the bottom left corner of the picture above, it opens up the Reddit page and you can click on the image in that Reddit post and zoom in on the image a little bit better (only a little bit) and sort of see the writing on the chip packaging. I don't mean to insult anyone or sound like a know-it-all! Only trying to help!
Yeah, I hate it when you ask for oreo birthday cookies and they try to sell you regular oreos or even flaming hot doritos...

Almond Breeze Shorting The Weight. I Reported It To My Weight And Measures Agency
Volume is not measured like that. Use a volume meter, usually a recipient with volume markings on it.
It says on the carton it contains 1.89 L (or 1890 ml). The scale is weighing in ml. To make it worse they’re weighing the liquid and the carton together and it’s still only 1698 ml.
Load More Replies...It have a scale that will measure liquids in ml but only specifically cow milk or water (one setting for each) anything else wouldn't be correct because of density. Like a cup is a volume weight not a mass weight. A cup of sugar is going to weigh more in grams or ounces than a cup of flour. ML is a measure of volume. These scales use mass of a commonly used liquid for baking like milk or water to determine volume.
Ummmm.... I don't think you understand, it isn't sold by weight, it's sold by volume. Eight fluid ounces of milk will not usually weigh a half a pound. Confusing...unless you paid attention in school.
You can weigh liquids, dairy milk is 1.04g per mL, water is 1:1 g to mL. Most bakers, myself included, do not use volumetric measurements because they are not nearly as precise.
Load More Replies...Obviously you are reading this upside down, they actually put 8691 ounces in there...

Just because the little sachets are smaller doesn't automatically mean the product is less, they might have been able to fit the same amount of product in a smaller sachet by wasting less space. (I can't actually see anything on those little sachets to indicate the contents have been reduced.)
If you check the ingredients on that flavour pack, you might find it is primarily MSG and salt. Use stock (chicken, beef, vegetable) and add your own spice. Better tasting and better for you.
Load More Replies...On the bright side, For whatever it's worth,, the sodium in these packs are horribly high, makes these incredibly unhealthy. So the bright spot is, lowering the amount of the spice pack, may also mean lowering the overall salt content.

Whitman: Less Chocolate, Same Price!
The thing which annoys me about this type of shrinkflation is the packaging doesn't reduce around the food so you are probably paying for the same amount of packaging, and most likely increased packaging cost, and it is bad for the enviroment.
I will eat anything that has dark chocolate. Just saying.

In the UK most spray deodorants have shrunk as they've learnt how to compress the same amount into smaller bottles so it's using less metal and better for the environment? Surely the same thing here? Some here have like halved in size but lots of independent tests showed they contained the same amount of spray
If that's true, then that makes sense. I feel like I have these deodorant cans for a good 2-3 months.

The thing that makes me angry about this is not that there is less of the product or that it costs more in the end. It makes me really, really angry that the packaging is not shrinked or even bigger than before (to scam customers). That's such a waste of resources the planet and we cannot afford.
Resources??? How about the fact that they charge MORE...for LESS... and while we pay much more for basic necessities...the companies are making millions, if not billions, in profit per quarter... hope s**t changes soon...and we all see the fuckery that's eating us alive
Load More Replies...That's why they need regulations, period. If a totally free market would exist, rid of all regulation and liability, what would companies do then? What they did BEFORE stuff got regulated - poison rivers, trash their surrounding, rip off customers. A market within the boundaries we agree upon is totally fine, but unless regulation is sufficiently in place, ripping off people still is profitable and therefore, done. Shareholders don't care about that. We haven't understood yet that capitalism is what the name indicates, not like communism or socialism (where the real systems declared being such were neither good, nor what they were calling themselves), capitalism means the regentship of capital. And as ripping off customers by limiting choices and halfway disguised resizing stuff improves profit, even if peopel are pissed at it, it is one of their ways to squeeze out whatever they get their hands on. As alsway - companies collect the federal aides to reduce the impact of inflation, shift the cost to the customers and/or working people, and still never stop complaining how hard everything is and how they provide for everyone and take risks and stuff. Aand local pizza place, who used to have lots of customers and big earnings, is suddenly struggling to keep their business afloat. Probably because their food portions are half the size they used to be, and prices are twice as big.
Packaging designers are blatantly given the brief "we want to make the product 50% smaller and sell it for the same price", so they come up with these ideas. Maybe they should develop a conscience?
