“Pics Or It Never Happened”: 50 Things That Might Be Hard To Believe Without Evidence
InterviewIn the age of the camera, we have all seemingly become more skeptical than many of our ancestors. After all, people lie for clout, photoshop images and now even employ AI to create entirely fake scenarios.
The “Pics Or It Didn’t Happen” Facebook group is dedicated to moments that would sound made up if there wasn’t photographic evidence. We also got in touch with Morten Repsdorph Husfeldt, one of the founders of the group to learn more. So get comfortable as you scroll through, upvote your favorites and be sure to share your own thoughts and experiences in the comments section below.

Two years ago CNN released a photo taken by the photographer Anil Prabhakar in the forest in Indonesia. The image shows an orangutan, currently under threat of extinction, while stretching out his hand to help a geologist who fell into a mud pool during his search. When the photographer uploaded the photo, he wrote this as a caption: “In a time when the concept of humanity dies, animals lead us to the principles of humanity.”
Love it! Hunters who do it for sport should hang their head in shame and find another hobby
This is false. Basically what happened was that the man in the mud pool was clearing it for snakes. "A report by The Jakarta Post, however, quoted BOSF CEO Jamartin Sihite, confirming the incident narrated by Prabhakar, but doesn’t endorse the theory of the animal lending a ‘helping hand’. Sihite said that the orangutan seen in the picture is Anih and the man in the viral image is an employee at the BOSF, Syahrul. Sihite said, “Anih and Syahrul have known each other since the 1990s. Syahrul was doing the maintenance in the picture.”" "Regarding the motive of the animal, he added, “based on our experience, she could have been asking for food from Syahrul. It shows that the orangutan has become dependent on human beings,” even though in the picture it looked like Anih was offering help to Syahrul."
A simple google search of "Orangutan Offered Helping Hand To Geologist" will pretty much only show sites talking about the the text being false and that was not what was happening. Sorry 😅

Orangutans are my favourite of the great apes. They are at huge threat of extinction due to habitat destruction, mainly due to palm oil farmers.

Bored Panda got in touch with Morten Repsdorph Husfeldt, one of the founders of, one of the founders and current admins of “Pics Or It Didn’t Happen” and he was kind enough to share the backstory of this photo-group.
“We started just about 4 years ago. Tess [another administrator] ]and I were members of a group called Crazy Stuff Caught in Pictures (about 10k members) alongside Trevor Roach. Unfortunately, the group went downhill... A new admin had joined and posted both vaginas and other weird stuff and the group was partially suspended by Facebook.”
In 2016 Jade Hameister became the youngest person to ever ski to the North Pole. After achieving this incredible feat Hamesiter gave a TEDX Talk, there were a number of misogynistic comments on the video of her talk, including “make me a sandwich”.
Two years later in 2018 Jade became the youngest person to achieve a polar hat-trick, having reached both the North and South poles as well as crossing Greenland.
On her South Pole Trek which she completed on January 10 2018 she posted to her social media this photo of her with the sandwich and wrote: “Tonight (it never gets dark this time of year) I skied back to the Pole again... to take this photo for all those men who commented, 'Make me a sandwich', on my TEDX Talk. I made you a sandwich (ham & cheese), now ski 37 days and 600km to the South Pole and you can eat it xx,"

Wow, a lot of fragile men feeling insecure that a young woman has already achieved more than they ever will. Good for her showing humour and resilience while also giving a big finger to those losers.
Yes. Imagine being so pathetic as to have to downplay a young woman's achievement or anything that isn't in your pathetic little orbit. 👍Well done. You've already achieved more than those critics will ever achieve.

Rhododendrons an invasive species in the UK and cause horrible problems. Their roots release a toxin into the soil to reduce competition, which kills all plants underneath them. Even after you remove the rhododendron the soil will remain barren for some time.

“As we could not post, I created this group. First with the name "Crazy Stuff Caught In Pictures 2". I tried to reach out to the admins of the old group to invite them over. But I heard nothing… Then I began inviting members over by commenting on the posts in the old group. Many joined. As we were talking off, the old admins suddenly got interested and angry. They started to block anyone who had joined me,” he shared. It would appear that they had realized the value of a picture-based Facebook page.
This is one of the pictures that makes me laugh no matter how many times I see it.
Rainbow Grapes 🍇🌈
"It is not a hybrid of grapes. They get their colors during a process called Veraison, which occurs when they start making sugar and are known for their incredible delicious flavour."
Weren't these debunked? I know there are a few varieties of grapes that will cycle through colors during veraison but they are a single color when they mature

This zorse -- a hybrid between a female Chapmann's zebra and a male horse,
Zorse’s mother is a zebra and her father is a horse.
Additionally, this hybrid is unusual because most zorses are the product of a female horse and a male zebra.
That animal looks awesome, but zorse sounds stupid and whoever chose it should be flicked on the ear once daily in retribution.
There's some naming convention depending on which is the male, I think the inverse of this is hebra, which also sounds meh.

Photo of an ironworker during construction of the Columbia Tower, Seattle, 1984
Back in the day when I was an ironworker we didn't use safety harnesses either. None of us liked them. They were a pain in the a*s. They got in the way, were a hassle to deal with and slowed you down because of hooking and unhooking them. They also limited your movement. When the 2000's rolled around safety became paramount. If OSHA showed up on the job and you weren't wearing a 5 point safety harness the company was fined thousands of dollar for each person not wearing one.
Had a friend back in the days before OSHA felt the same. he did bridges, BIG ones!

Over 3000 years old, this camphor tree is the 7th largest tree in Japan. It is 30m tall with a trunk circumference of 20m, its branches span 30m wide from east to west, and 33m wide from north to south. This is the sacred tree of Takeo Shrine, which was built in the Nara period (735 CE). The roots of the tree resemble the feet of elephants and are wrapped in rough bark, with their central section split open near the surface of the ground. Inside is a gaping cavity with an area of 12 tatami mats, which houses a stone shrine deep within.
Now I'm curious. Looked up tatami mats: 0.9m x 1.8 m = 1.62 sq metres. The cavity is 19.44 sq metres or 209.25 sq feet. I wonder how many jelly beans would it take to fill that? lol
In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say they'd ask me to leaf.

Paradise Flying Snake is a species of snake found in southeastern Asia. It can, like all species of its genus Chrysopelea, glide by stretching the body into a flattened strip using its ribs. I get the joke, but sometimes for legal reasons it is about making sure the trespasser has been informed, not whether they can get around the gate. Like if I have a chain and a no trespassing sign across my driveway, it is technically illegal for a cop to come on my property without a warrant, even though they could step over the chain. I rarely have the chain up (used to for other reasons) but various lawyers on youtube tell me that's the way the law reads in most states.
