Define third world and civil society. Civil society is a broad, general term. And third world is a rather outdated term whose use and definition have become increasingly problematic lately. I live in a highly diverse community in NY with a sizable chunk of immigrants coming from these so called third world countries. My neighborhood is safe and thriving with a wide array of big name corporate businesses and mom and pop establishments. I went to middle school and high school with kids from these so called third world countries and a lot of them excelled. Sounds pretty civil to me.
I moved to Australia from a 3rd world country and yes the education system was ahead of Australia at the time. They wanted to move me to higher grades here but refused as I didn't want to stick out. There are so many other things that make a huge difference between a 1st and 3rd world country and if you had to visit over there, you would see a massive difference. The people aren't bad people, where I am from they are super friendly etc but poverty and corruption amongst the government etc are what brings the country down and make everyone in the country suffer. Kids over there want to go to school, whereas here kids will do anything to get out of it.
