You have to give verbal warnings, then 3 written warnings, then get permission from the government to fire them. Only then can you fire them and they usually still have to have a month's notice or payment in lieu. Unless you are firing them for theft, for which you may have to call in the police first.

Technically thats "at will" employment. Right to work means you dont have join a union or pay dues

Unions are not banned or restricted in any state, they are protected by federal law against any state law intended to eliminate or restrict them. It may be difficult to organize a union and most employers actively discourage them (which is also illegal), but they are fully legal in all 50 states.

It took me a while to realize that "Right to work" meant "Right to work without union representation".

A right to work state means you can work in a union shop without being a member of the union. You're thinking of employment at will.

Taking you serious, giving you insights from Germany: Minimum wage 12 EUR/h. No work day longer than 10h, no work week longer than 48h. With more than 6h you need to have a break of 30mins, above 9h it's 45mins. Paid sick leave for 6 weeks from your employer, if you go above 6 weeks you will be paid 70% of your former salary by your health insurance for 78weeks. Health care is always included. Legal amount of vacation days is at least 20days/year, at the moment employers give you 30days/year. 6-8 weeks paid leave before you give birth, up to 3years with 60% of your former salary to care for your children (women and men). You cannot be fired without (good!) reason, and there is always a notice period, which starts with 4 weeks but can go up to 6months, depending your work-contract. When you get unemployed, you can receive 60% of your former salary, also health insurrance and pension rates are included. If you are unemployed on longterm, the income drops to around 500 EUR/month plus rent for your appartment.

In France, very similar to Germany, we have a minimum number of holidays, minimum wage (actually livable, even though it's getting tougher with inflation and we should seriously raise it), maximum number of hours to be worked in a day and in a week, and minimum number of resting hours in a raw (for example an employer cannot make you work 8h a day in 4 bits of 2h spread over 24h, even if 8h work is below the daily limit because you would not have the minimum hours of rest in one stretch). We usually have 3 months notice when we get fired and we get some amount of money for it that depends on our salary and how long we were in the company. There are many more but here are some out the top of my head.
