However, if you overindulge in nostalgia, you may end up lowering the quality of your life. By shutting out what’s currently happening, you’re avoiding living in the present.
This, in turn, means that you’re missing out on various life opportunities, and your meaningful, positive relationships might suffer, too.
According to WebMD, you might find it difficult to appreciate what you currently have in life if you give in to nostalgia and focus too much on reliving your ‘glory days.’
Again, nostalgia has its upsides. But it’s also healthy to show gratitude for the present and develop a bit of optimism about the future.

Nostalgia can be either historical or personal. Personal nostalgia focuses on you revisiting moments from your life.
Meanwhile, historical nostalgia means that you’re so dissatisfied with the present that you’re yearning for a time in the past when society was different.
In some cases, you might yearn for a time that preceded your birth. This is called anemoia.

As Yağmur Karakaya, PhD, assistant professor of sociology at Yale University, explained to WebMD, memory is very malleable. And so, groups of people can have different interpretive memories of the same events.

Does Anybody Remember The "Smell" Of Old Crt Television Screens?
It was a unique perfume. I can't put it into words, it smelled...well...like electricity, I guess. Not ozone, not burning cords, just a very unique smell if you put your face close enough to the screen to feel the static electricity coming from it.
I had forgotten all about that odor. I'm reading Phillip K. Dick's *Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?* and a line in it made the memory of that come back like a tidal wave.

I remember we used to yell "Don't be a menace!" to each other as teens whenever an adult told us to "be careful" when we were going to hang out somewhere or do something. Everyone else had to yell the rest of the movie title back at whomever had said "Don't be a menace" XD I remember feeling weirdly smug because I actually had family members living in South Central Los Angeles at that time. I am older now and I know that is not the flex I thought it was when I was 14 XD

I have so many photos of me doing this XD And I (weirdly) have photos of me holding up my treasured X-Men possessions - not on a Christmas, just random photoshoot of my X-Men poster, my most treasured X-Men comics, my Sega Genesis X-Men game, and my beloved shirt that had Gambit and Wolverine on it XD I can only imagine what my dad was thinking when his 11-year-old daughter demanded he take dramatic photos of her with her comic-book-character items XD

I remember I HATED tucked-in shirts as a kid. My mom used to always pick my clothes and she often made me wear button-down longsleeve shirts (in Southern California!) and she would tuck them into my pants (corduroys, natch) and I hated that feeling of a tucked-in shirt for some reason XD Plus, they never stayed tucked in all day, and then I'd get in trouble. I don't think I've tucked in a shirt since the late 90s, thankfully XD

I used to sneak onto the computer when everyone else was asleep at night and log onto AOL to play NeverWinter Nights or roleplay in the Red Dragon Inn chatrooms. I thought I was very clever because I would take all the cushions off the couch and pack them around the computer to muffle the dialup modem connection sounds XD

The late 90's was a time of a major revolution in gaming graphics (on the PC, especially)... the technology exploded like never before. An unfortunate side effect of this is that games from this era are quite hard to get running on modern hardware (they require obsolete drivers and API's).
