Many people agree that it’s awful to meet a celebrity you look up to and realize they are horrible. We’ve all read about or even met the meanest celebrities in real life who are rude to everyone and full of themselves despite trying to look nice in the media.

Rephrasing Charles Bukowski’s words, though some A and even B-list celebrities might seem like the worst people on earth, we should feel sorry for them. After countless roles on screen, these stars might not even know who they are anymore. That may hold some truth, but acting out is still no valid excuse.

Fortunately, many people have had the opportunity to meet some of the nicest celebrities in real life. These encounters prove that many famous people are really nice and treat those around them with respect. People appreciate meeting celebrities who are nice in real life and are eager to share stories of these encounters. It is truly refreshing to find out that so many famous people deserve the title of the nicest celebrities, especially after all the sad stories we hear online.

Scroll below to read a list of stories compiled by Bored Panda about actors, singers, and other famous people who are the nicest celebrities and just as real as we are. Check the stories about Jim Carrey refilling someone’s gas tank, Bryan Cranston reenacting his Heisenberg role for a devoted fan, and the many instances Bill Murray was, well, Bill Murray. Also, please share your stories of meeting the nicest and meanest celebrities in real life!

Robin Williams

Robin Williams smiling

"I was jogging at the San Francisco Marina back in 1988 I think it was and I saw Robin Williams sitting in the side of his van just chillin'. I said, "How you doin' Mr. Williams?" He said, "I'm doing great, you running from the cops?" I laughed and stopped to chat with him for about 5 minutes. He was absolutely delightful. Such a fond memory. I wept when I heard he died."

I met Robin Williams in the video game section of a Best Buy in Phoenix. Him and his son were so nice. He said he’d sign a copy of Dead Poet Society for me IF I didn’t point him out to anyone. He really was so cool!

You are saying that assuming he killed himself because he was hiding deep depression. He killed himself because he had Lewey Body dementia due to Parkinsons. My Dad had it. It can come on very quickly. It was as if my Dad had gone crazy (hallucinating, in and out of lucidness). More like Delirium than dementia. My Dad eventually forgot how to walk and swallow, all in 2 months. It would have been a blessing for him if my Dad had died 2 months earlier. It tore my heart out seeing him laying on the floor, speaking giberish, with his legs moving like he was walking because he didn't realize he wasn't actually on his feet.

    Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks in movie Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks at Best Buy. He was in line in front of me with a cart full, all by himself. I was only buying a bottle of water because they didn’t have what I was looking for. I just blurted out” Forest Gump is my favorite movie” like a creep, and he turned around, and said “that was my favorite movie to make! I’m glad you love it.” He then chatted with me while about movies as we stood in line. When it was his turn to check out while they were ringing up his stuff he said “oh let me get that water for you” and paid for my water. He kept talking to me and then we walked out and he said “nice talking to you! You’re a very nice young lady and always remember... life is like a box of chocolates.. you never know what your gonna get” in his Forest Gump voice. IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER.

I was having lunch at the W hotel in DC, where I live, and hit him with the door as I was leaving. It was an accident and I didn't notice who it was. When I did notice, i was like "OH MY GOD!" and stared "I'm so sorry!" He smiled at me and was like "It's OK, you know nobody's gonna believe you, right?" I said "no." and pouted, then he laughed. He was VERY nice about it and went about his business. Super down to earth guy.

    Patrick Stewart

    Patrick Stewart sitting and looking

"My sister was waiting tables in NYC, and ended up serving Patrick Stewart. She didn't want to bother him, so she just did her job, but at the end of the night she told him how much she had enjoyed seeing him in a production of Hamlet that year (2008), and that she hoped he was planning to do more theater in the US.

My sister was prepared to leave it at that, but apparently, he was so thrilled at someone who wanted to talk about his theater work (as opposed to Star Trek), that he ended up talking to my sister for a while about his experiences on stage. Just a really nice guy who loves acting."

Don`t take it personally. Imagine how many times they are asked for autographs or selfies. Famos people also have bad days or feel tired of dealing with public attention. Thats why I think if you meet someone you admire you better just give..a compliment, a comment on their work, than ask...for an autograph, selfie, etc.

What to Do When Meeting Celebrities

Kindness and politeness go both ways. While being tired of constant attention and lack of privacy don’t justify rude behavior, we should never forget that celebrities are also humans and treat them accordingly. If you’re itching to come up and strike up a conversation or just ask for a picture, make sure the situation calls for it. Don’t be pushy or rude because even the nicest celebrities may snap when encountering inappropriate behavior.

    Robin Williams

Robin Williams wearing black shirt laughing

"When I was younger, my grandmother and I ran into Robin Williams eating alone in a Whole Foods. We approached him and introduced ourselves and he immediately cleared a space for us to sit and chat with him. I was pretty young at the time, so he spent most of the time trying to make me laugh by doing voices. I may have been too young to truly appreciate it at the time, but looking back I can easily say it's one of the greatest moments of my life and Robin has always had a special spot in my heart because of it."

Well said. I have always loved Robin Williams's comedy. Upon reaching my 30's I ended up in group therapy, with the theme "a therapy group for people recovering from depression" and the first thing the therapist said was "look around you, look at each other... what do you see? that's right, depression _does not show_ to the outside in most cases".

    Steve Zahn

Steve Zahn with orange shirt and wearing hat looking

"Steve Zahn lives in my city and frequents the gas station I work at. One day he helped a man push his truck onto our lot and then gave the guy a twenty for gas. He talks to everyone like he's known them forever, drives a big pick-up truck, and he's always smiling.

Another story about him- one day while driving home my mom stopped to help an old man who had fallen out of his wheelchair at the end of his driveway. She's tiny and was struggling. Steve pulls up, hops out of his truck, helps her, they high-five, and he gets back in his truck and leaves.

I like to think Steve Zahn is just cruising around all day looking for people to help."

Daria B, I'm a fan of yours for a long time (I used to comment on your comments with another nick name) and this comment gets my full compassion. People talk about racism and there's good reason for that. But there's also a milder version where people just make you feel like a foreigner or an outsider in regular everyday situations, and I know that all too well.

A loooong time ago I was at a Benihana in Santa Monica when Robert and Natalie Wagner came in with their kids. A couple of ladies at our table got all atwitter about it and went to ask for their autographs. The Wagner's gracefully complied, then quietly got up and left before ordering. Celebrities deserve an evening out with family without being bothered.

    Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston as Walter White in Breaking Bad

"Met Bryan Cranston once at the bellagio whilst on holiday in Vegas.... I was a bit fanboyish and blurted..."omg its Heisenberg!"... almost immediately his facial expression went angry... and he walked straight up to me and actually muttered "How dare you call me out like that...if people knew who I was, I wouldn't be in this business... next time you call me out like that be ready for a barrel"... then he smiled and starting laughing and we ended up talking for about 10mins or so about BB.... gave me an autograph.. i was so happy... asked him if he wanted to join a few of us for a drink but he politely declined as he was waiting for his mrs and daughter... cool guy!"

She had 3 kids in tow, dressed in yoga pants and a tshirt.. nothing about her screamed celebrity and I was focused on other stuff. I messed up twice on her order and she honestly couldn't have been nicer about it "Oh no problem, just bring it when you can, etc etc" Still went out of her way to make small talk.. I only found out who she was when I went to run her credit card and it said "R K Zellweger". Kids all thanked me after the meal and she gave me a hug on the way out and an amazing tip for subpar service. It was a total dream"

Difficult to recognize after her "face change" surgery. She looked so delightfully different, now everything that made her cute and different is gone! As soon as I saw what she did to herself, I said, Her acting career is over! Jennifer Grey made the same mistake.

    Tim Burton

Tim Burton wearing black suit and looking

"I went to a signing by Tim Burton. The line for him was out the building and around the corner. Everyone was being told that Tim wasn't going to be able to see everyone. I was lucky, I was near the front. We were also told that we could only get an autograph and picture then had to move on.

Tim was amazingly nice, and constantly had to be reminded not to shake people's hands and talk with them because he had limited time. He also ended up being late for a private showing of one of his movies (I can't remember which one). He was late because he made sure he saw every single person in line.

He was just overall a kind and humble man and very sweet. He even looked over my aspiring animator friend's portfolio and gave her his email, asking her to send him her progress as she improved. A truly great guy."

He took 45 minutes to express his appreciation to us. Found out our 2nd meal didn't come and got it on top of paying an extra or making sure 2nd meal stopped was paid to background.

He's actually very sweet and somewhat shy. He really didn't know how to handle a young girl absolutely bawling tears of joy just from his presence, haha. He also picked up my sister for a picture because we couldn't get both him (roughly 6'2") and my sister (roughly 4"10") together in frame.

Even though I was so excited, played it cool and was rewarded with an easy conversation. It's his job to manage. As far as I know, celebroty appearences are pretty tough to handle. Perhaps it wasn't too kind of him to interfere, but that's his job. I can well imagine that people get carried away; trying to pay attention to everyone. It's not wrong to have someone these to remind you of the schedule.

I was really nervous to even talk to her to be quiet honest. Her and her boyfriend were EXTREMELY personable we talked about the rangers for a bit and kind of chit chatted. She paid the bill, left a very generous tip and told me I created an outstanding dining experience and asked if they could talk to my manager. One of the biggest compliment boosts of my life. Adam Sandler

    Adam Sandler wearing suit looking

Met Adam Sandler once in a restaurant in NYC. We were out to dinner for a friend's bachelor party, a group of about a dozen guys. Adam stopped by our table and said congrats to the groom-to-be and asked some genuine questions about where we were all from and what we do. He then took a few moments to tell us that he had seen us earlier having fun and laughing together and about how important that is in life, being with friends and laughing and enjoying our time together. Kinda sounds cheesy now but in the moment it was very sincere and meant a lot to us. Overall it was maybe a 5-10 minute interaction but something none of us will ever forget

Robin Williams was suffering from a brain illness akin to Alzheimer's, but with even more symptoms such as actual hallucinations, and more. He was devastated at losing his abilities, not just depression from nowhere. He had a good reason for being emotionally flayed. The idea that comedians are often depressed is not without substance but no reason to think that Sandler was having an episode during this encounter. He just thought it was nice seeing people having a good time.

I think that what TentacledBerry is pointing out, is that it's important to recognize the small things about other people and what mental health etc they might be experiencing... depression is deceiving to those receiving... more often than not, it's always the "happiest" that are the saddest (not always). Going off of what Robin Williams encounters were like (and MANY other comedians, actors, artists, everyday people!), it's tragic to see his loneliness through his unspoken words, and we only NOW see those tragic unspoken words and actions because he's already gone... Why not try to become aware of it, see it, and acknowledge it when that person is alive? Even if you're wrong, are you losing or hurting them by reaching out because you're concerned and care?? And more often than not, it's those that are hurting that recognize others hurting as well... be careful with what you say and how you react. You might confirm someone's worst fear -that no one cares-

tbh the way you said what he told you, he seemed like having some kind of severe depression.. it looks like comedians suffer from that somewhat more often?

Why don't we think like that, he was glad to see them happy and wanted them to keep on doing this! Why sudden a judgement came in the picture where a celebrity says something good about life and having fun just turned into depression. Get a life!

I was at the same Celebration! Didn't meet Mark, but did get glittered by Carrie Fisher. She even asked me to go around the table, (to the protest of her agent who there isn't time. "There's always time for glitter!" Carrie said) so she could reach up to the top of my head. She laid her hand there. Didn't wash my hair for a week... It was devastating to hear about her passing away. 😢

To me this story is a part of the great mystery of depression. Depression is said to be the contradiction between the life you actually live and the life that could actually make you happy. Perhaps connecting to a random stranger for 45 minutes was one of his good moments, a situation where he didn't have to play a role? A situation where he actually felt a connection to another person? I sure hope it was, and just like with other people with depression, I somehow wish I could have helped him. Heart breaking stuff.

    Vanilla Ice

Vanilla Ice holding ice creams and smiling

"Vanilla Ice. He was doing one of those '90s Nostalgia' college campus tours in the UK back in 2005/6 and being a genuine fan of his, I went along to the show in Glasgow. The show itself was great, he played a lot of his harder and heavier material that I'm a fan of but 99% of the crowd just wanted to hear Ice Ice Baby. When he eventually played it at the end, it was the updated, modernised version of it...the crowd didn't seem that taken by it.

After the show he was signing stuff. Mostly just flyers or people's bodies etc. I gave him my copy of his Hard To Swallow CD which caused him to double take. I told him I'm a big fan of his rap-metal material and he reacted with genuine happiness. He told the bouncer to let me and my girlfriend into his VIP spot and told us we could drink what we wanted while he finished signing stuff.

He joined us some time later and I spent the night partying away with him and hearing lots of stories, some funny, some pretty messed up about the record industry. Then we went to a nearby Casino where he proceeded to happily drop hundreds onto the roulette table.

An experience I'll never forget, he was very humble and we genuinely enjoyed each other's company. The guy knows the world views him as a parody, and he made peace with it. He released the rap-metal albums knowing they weren't going to go far, but done it for himself and regrets nothing."

    David Bowie

    David Bowie wearing yellow sweater

    "Warning: David Bowie Story.

Years ago I was working backstage at a theatre in NYC. We were hosting a ballet company that was doing their annual holiday time money grab. This particular year it was a production of the Nutcracker aimed at children. Word travelled quickly that David Bowie was in the audience with his wife and kids. The organizer of the ballet passed them a message through the ushers that asked them to stay after to meet the dancers and take pictures.

When the time came to collect David Bowie from the audience and usher him backstage, I was somehow nominated and as a huge Bowie fan, I was star-struck and panicked. I quickly devised a plan wherein I would greet Freaking David Freaking Bowie and walk him quickly to the backstage entrance, say "right through here, sir", and duck into a nearby restroom. Getting to the stage from that particular door was a bit of a labyrinth (ha) but the thought of trying to keep it together while walking them the all the way to the stage was just too much.

All goes according to plan until I go to enter the restroom. David Bowie pivots and says "Oh, is that the restroom?" Whatever happened next was a total blur, but the next thing I know I am alone in a small restroom (two urinals and a stall) with David Bowie. Me and Bowie. Pissing in tandem.

You know how sometimes your brain throws out the most bizarre thoughts in the the most awkward situations in order to make you laugh? All I could think of was "I wonder if he's spinning his testicles like those metal balls in Labyrinth..."

I remained frozen, eyes forward, unflinching, dick in hand as David Bowie flushed, washed his hands and exited. That was my uncomfortable brush with greatness. RIP, Bowie. We love you."

So, when it was my turn to meet him I gushed a whole bunch and told him how much I loved his films and voice work and he thanked me and asked who else I was there to see (celebrity wise) and I told him just him. Which is true, he's the only celebrity I have ever physically taken the time to meet that's been a guest at Dragon Con. It's a well-written, emotional episode, and when he asked what I wanted to talk about I just started crying. I told him that was my favorite episode of Doctor Who and he asked if it was difficult, sometimes. He was the absolute sweetest person ever. He actually reached up and brushed tears off my face, and hugged me, and I can't repeat enough how nice he is. (Sidenote- he was there again last year. He remembered me, not because of the crying, but because he liked my costume and I was wearing the same one.)"

I was on an elevator at a convention in Dallas in approx. 1994 and there was a man with a broken leg on board with us. Everyone was staring at him and I just stared talking to him and we chatted all the way down to the ground floor, then I held the door so he could get off the elevator. As he hobbled away on his crutches he was like "See ya later" and I said "Sure". I walked over to my husband who was waiting for me and he asked me if I knew who it was. "Steve Martin - This was 12ish years ago. I used to work at the Ride for Atlantis at Caesars Palace Forum Shops. I was doing the ride portion and you are required to give a speech and get people ready to ride the 3D motion ride. Well my girlfriend (now wife) was in the section before me and called me on the phone we had and whispered "oh my god, I just gave Steve Martin the pre-show speech!" and she hung up. The doors open and people started filing in and lo and behold there was Steve Martin with his entourage. He smiled at me, said hi and shook my hand and sat in the back. I went up, gave my speech and during my speech people would usually talk while they buckled in and he was hushing people around him and held his attention to me for the entire thing. At the end of the ride, i took his 3D goggles i issued to everyone and he said thanks again to me again and gave me a handshake. They all left and all I could think about was how damn polite he was. The thank you's and hand shakes felt genuine. You can tell when people are just saying thank you to say thank you or what not and it felt like he actually gave a damn. My wife and I still bring it up to this day.

Mickey Rourke wearing hat and glasses

"Mickey Rourke! My sister approached him at a restaurant in NYC about his dog saying how cute it was and he took the time to talk about the dog, the breed, and offered a puppy of the same breed since the dog had just given birth. My sister explained my parents didn't allow her to have a dog despite wanting one for so long so he came over to our table and made a case for my sister on why she should own a dog, then offered to personally buy her a dog.

It was a really nice gesture and it's why my sister's dog is named Mickey (although she tells everyone he's named after Mickey Mouse because she's embarrassed about the story)"

She liked my Slenderman costume and called me out of a crowd to come get interviewed. After it was done and she and her posse was walking away, she lagged behind them and I sorta stammered out, "Thank you, Ms. Goldberg!". She stopped and turned around, and said, "Please, it's just Whoopie.""

"Mohammed Ali. I was in the airport lounge for American in New York waiting for the early flight to Chicago. He came in with all his entourage and sat in the seats across from me. I pretended to read my newspaper (this was the early 1990's) but was watching him the entire time. When one of his "people" went to the coffee service I went up to him and asked if I could say hello to Mr. Ali. The guy said "Sure! He loves it when people come and talk to him." I went over to Ali and introduced myself, we shook hands (he has GIGANTIC hands) and he invited me to sit down next to him. We sipped coffee and chatted for about 25 minutes until I had to leave for my flight. He can't sign autographs because of his Parkinson's, but he was the nicest, kindest man. I'll never forget it."

"I met Tony Hawk while I was working at Congress and some lobby was bringing him in to do meet and greets with congressional staffers. It was kind of a weird experience. I don't think that this will surprise everyone, but he was basically a teenager in a 40 year-old's body. We asked him if the meet and greets were the only thing he was doing that day and he said he had actually just come from a middle school, where he did some kind of speaking event for the students. He said it was funny because a student asked him how much money he made and his response was basically, "I don't know, dude, I have people that handle that." It was very odd because it made him seem very out of touch with reality, but in the most innocent way--like a teenager who recognizes they need money to pay for stuff, but not the actual value of any money they acquire."

I actually randomly met Elijah Wood at a bar in San Francisco in like 06 or 07. By chance, someone had ordered 4 kamikaze and then split, so the bartender offered them to me, Elijah and his partner, and himself. I thought he was just a doppelganger and even mentioned he looked just like Elijah Wood. He just looked down and quietly said he gets that alot. He was very soft-spoken, seemed very nice. It wasn't until he left that the bartender said he saw his ID and he was actually Elijah Wood.

Kiefer Sutherland was in Seattle during the time he was shooting The Vanishing with Sandra Bullock. My mother was working as a bartender at a little dive in South Seattle called The Elbow Room (no longer there.) Kiefer came in and sat down to have a drink. My mother and some of the regulars noticed him and complimented him on his work. Then started the contest to see who could tell the best joke. She said he had a few good ones. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. He ended up buying several rounds for the bar before he had her call his car service to come pick him up. The regulars talked about it for weeks afterwards.

'Junior Seau. From an earlier post: I volunteered to help with his foundation's event where the recognize a local sports hero. That year it was Jimmie Johnson. They auctioned off goods to raise money for the charity with Junior as the auctioneer. ... At the end, us lowly volunteers were in the kitchen, getting a sandwich meal they had packed for us after cleaning, and in walked Junior with a double armful of live orchids. They had been the centerpieces on the tables at the auction. I thought everyone had left but us. He goes to every lady in the room and gives her one and thanks her for volunteering. He shakes all the guys hands and smiles and talks for second, calling everyone "Buddy". I was actually the last guy he stopped at, being the closest to the door, and he shook my hand and thanked me. If you never met him, he was a stunningly immense human being, like a mountain of muscle. He saw my wedding ring and gave me the last orchid and said: "This is for your wife. Jay might be nice to his fans, but so many people who know him well or have had business dealings with him think otherwise. David Letterman, who is known for being kind of standoffish and prickly, has said that Jay's nice-guy act really was just an act. After all, OJ Simpson was always nice to his fans too while cheating on, beating, and then murdering Nicole.

    Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin wearing suit and smiling

"Alec Baldwin attempted to rescue me and my friends about 15 years ago.

I grew up near Wilmington, NC, and my friends and I were out fishing in a small boat. Our lines get tangled up in the motor, we can't steer the boat, and it ends up washed up on the beach on an island. Waves are constantly crashing over it, filling it with water way faster than we can bail. We send one friend to the intracoastal waterway side of the island to get help. He comes back with some random guy, and Alec Baldwin.

Alec stayed there and helped us for a good 15 minutes, when he easily could have just left these 4 dumb kids who weren't in any real danger. Super nice guy. Eventually even with their help we couldn't free the boat, so they took my friend onto their boat (with Kim Basinger and her friend) to their house, where my friend called for help. Eventually some Coast Guard guys came with a bilge pump to free us. Thanks Alec!"

Ozzy asked where the nearest ER was and we directed him to a remote one away from concert traffic on their way way home. Everyone piled in a limo and drove to this little hospital ER eight miles away. Only one nurse recognized Ozzy and suggested they call the police for security."

She was very funny and talented and was really easy going. The show I worked on was famous for being quirky and some celebrity guests were asshats, but Christina rolled with it and everyone had a great day."

"Adam Sandler. I see that he seems to get a lot of flack on the internet from people, but I worked with the guy on a project for at least a month or so (spending hours on end in the same room) and he is actually a really nice person. He looks out for his friends, his employees, works late if it is needed/helpful, and is quite supportive of people around him who are new/trying to grow in their field. He gives words of encouragement for growth, but is honest where improvement is needed.

On top of that he is consistently in practice of the ol' cordial 'just-passing-by' greeting. You know - when you are passing someone else in a hall or on a sidewalk (acquainted or not) and they smile and say "Good Morning!" or even just a smirk and a "Hi"? Not enough people do this anymore. That alone gives someone major points in my book!"

When I went through cancer and felt like the last person on earth with everything avoiding looking at me when I was sick from chemo I began to make myself make eye contact with people. Not to force them, but to force myself to be out in the world, regardless of how I looked (bald) and how I felt. It's nice to speak to strangers, if only to say hello and/or smile, and it makes me feel better about myself while it's obvious others appreciate it too. I still do it now and glad it's my habit, because as you say there are not enough of us!

I've always done this but then I was raised in the MidWest and we are just naturally friendly to strangers. Since I've moved to the West coast, I've noticed people just don't do this here. Once some guy thought I was trying to pick him up only because I smiled at him! He made the exchange so weird!

Not my story, but, in about 1998, my father used a urinal directly next to Kiefer Sutherland at the Orpheum Theatre; Phantom of the Opera, if I remember correctly. Mr. Sutherland senses someone watching him and says, "Not a good time." My father replies, "I wasn't gonna ask for an autograph. I just want to tell my wife I saw Kiefer Sutherland's d**k." Luckily, he thought it was funny too.

My sister worked at a Wendy's in a town that neighbored Seattle. She was working the counter late when 5 guys came in and ordered food. While she was taking their order, she noticed that her co-worker was in the corner freaking out. She turned around and said "What?!?" Her co-worker said "That's Queensryche. My sister said "Nah..can't be..why would they come in here." her co-worker rushed out to her car and got the tape (yes this was the 80's) and showed my sister the bands picture on the cover. Sure enough it was them. Her co-worker went out in the dining area where they were sitting and pretended to clean until she got close enough to their table to ask them for an autograph...made her co-workers day. My sister started listening to their music after that. Empire..good album.

You could tell he was exhausted after, as it was pretty late. Sure enough, hundreds of people lined up to get their books signed, and an attendant was there to grab your phone and take your picture with him. He was such a good sport and made small talk with nearly every person.

While there, Gabriel Iglesias and his family asked if they could exit through there because they were nearly robbed on their way in. The lady that was in charge asked who he was and he said he's a comedian, to which she (in my opinion kinda rudely) replied "i don't know who you are." I let her know that I recognised him and she told me I could escort his group out of the arena. As we're walking out I let him know that I'm a fan and how exciting it is to meet him, he shook my hand and let me take a picture with him. Once they were out of the arena and about to get in their taxi he asked if there was anything he could do for me. I asked if he would be willing to part ways with the ringside chair that was exclusive for the event and without a moment of hesitation he handed it to me and thanked me for escorting him and his family out and to their taxi. My one regret is that i didn't get him to sign it, but I can say that I got a Wrestlemania chair from Fluffy and that makes me happy."

I wasn't really paying attention and somehow blended in with people while I was on my phone and ended up in the lunch area for them since it was a building I usually cut through. How no one stopped me before I ended up there was beyond me, but I saw this food there and being the poor college kid I was, decided I'd try to sneak some food from whatever this event was. (Usually events going on in that area don't care if you take food since they are trying to attract people.) so I'm walking out past the tables and it was like bam.

Clooney there at the table casually chatting and I'm like "holy shit, George clooney!"

And he was like "holy shit, that's me!" shook my hand. Chatted for a bit, then he waves over security to escort me out lol. Made sure they just escorted me out , Totally classy the whole time. I fail to see how she's not. Yes, she was originally just an heiress, but she has done things to earn a celebrity status; movies, tv shows, etc.

John Cena was really cool when I met him at a mall thing for my brother years ago. Stayed for 8 hours to meet all the people lined up to see him. This was during his first big fame blow up so I'm sure he was busy. He also does a lot of Make a wish stuff. Blends into his surroundings easily though."

Then he shook everyone's hand while greeting them. After the session he signed a hazmat helmet that a producer wanted to give as a wedding gift (bride groom were huge fans). He was also phenomenal in the booth nailing the script and making it his own. A+ all around."

My brother-in-law worked on the set of Evan Almighty. He said every morning, Morgan Freeman would show up and tell jokes for about half and hour until everyone was in stitches and then it was.."OK..let's get this done" and everyone was ready to work. He liked playing practical jokes too. He also made a point to get to know everyone's names, no matter what job they held on set...Director to extra. He said he was the nicest man he'd ever met.

My friend and I met him when he did the "Don't try this at home" tour. I had rolled a huge fatty for the occasion & ended up smoking it with him & Ryan Dunn - who was by FAR the nicest celebrity I've ever met. Humble, caring & was genuinely interested in seeing my artwork - then suggested I email Bam Margera with some of the pieces to see if he'd like to commission a skate piece. Never had the guts to email him... one of my regrets. Very sad day when I discovered Ryan had died in a car accident.

Alcohol is like fertilizer, in the music industry; when used correctly it can be beneficial, use too much and your project gets covered in s**t. Drunken idiocy and irresponsibility was the end of Kings of Leon; (the original line-up, at least.) In '05 two of the members were not even legal to drink, in the U.S.

I tell him he can't come in, not looking at the the shorter guy he is with who says "he is with me, I got my ID" and gives me his California license. It says John Stamos. I look up and sure enough it's John muthafucking Stamos with a little smirk, short unshaven still really good looking with a hat on. I let them in and they drink at the back of the bar totally incognito. On the way out he thanks me for letting his friend in. So I walked up and asked her.

Up close you could definitely tell it was her. She's just as gorgeous in real life. She was nice and friendly, not bitchy or dismissive like people usually end up saying about meeting famous people.

Me: "Excuse me, I'm really sorry to bother you, but I have a quick question."

    Her: "Yes?"

Her: "Who do you think I am?"

He came to our house a few times and we got to go to his house once. I would describe him as humble, funny, and genuinely nice. He never wanted to talk about his own boxing career.

One time he just popped in because he was nearby and didn't want to sit in traffic. Another time my dad asked if he would circle around and wave to our neighbor across the street who was outside. Instead he walked over and talked to the guy for a couple minutes.

He seems to have either been really busy lately or just moved on because he doesn't call or come over anymore."

I think it quite remarkable how one can almost tell if a celebrity is truly nice just by watching them doing their job, their facial expressions and charisma. It shines through and I am not at all surprised to have seen these names on the list. Especially the wonderful Robin Williams - who would not do a film unless the filming company would hire homeless people as staff. God bless ole boy!
