“Huh, that’s interesting.” How many times have you used that line as a response to something that wasn't exactly fascinating? Maybe someone told you a fun fact, or you noticed something slightly unusual at the grocery store. Nothing life-altering, but something just intriguing enough to solicit a response.
That’s the kind of content we’re featuring today, pandas! We’ve taken a trip to the Mildly Interesting subreddit and gathered some photos down below that are just that: mildly interesting. From random things people encountered to bizarre experiences they’ve had, enjoy scrolling through these out of the ordinary pics, and be sure to upvote all of your favorites!

"Curiosity killed the cat". Looks like a good way to get rid of books that aren't selling. "There's a sucker born every minute" - P.T. Barnum
A co worker of my wife was doing this for Christmas as gifts and we got one for each other. She added in a little bookmark making kit that tucked into the wrapping. Super fun idea for book people.
Down side though this makes avoiding books already read or already owned impossible. I could never buy a book this way. Fantastic library Option though
Load More Replies...My mom has over 400 books in her house that she hasn't read. She started rapping them, putting #s on them and writing those same #s on little slips of paper. Then she would of a raffle and unwrap and read whatever book matched her #.

My local Barnes & Noble has been doing this for years - guaranteed read - don't like, already read it - bring it back! Customers love it!!
Not everything we see and experience can be mindblowing. You’re not going to eat the most delicious dinner you’ve ever tasted every single evening, and not every film you watch will change your life. Sometimes, we eat meals that are “pretty tasty,” and we have no problem listening to music that’s “not my favorite but not bad.” That’s how we learn to appreciate what really is amazing!
And just like in the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, there’s always a happy medium between something being too much and not enough. That’s where the Mildly Interesting subreddit fits in. This community, which has amassed an impressive 23 million members, is dedicated to sharing photos that fall just in between boring and fascinating.
My Grandfather Guarding A Kkk Function
Don’t feel sorry for him. In this photo he is showing his dignity and self respect doing his job and letting the losers in the background make fools of themselves.
Load More Replies...There also is a beautiful photo from the early 90s of a small , innocent white child dressed by his Klan member parents in his tiny Klan outfit touching the shield of a Black police officer who was there to maintain the peace and to also protect the Klan members at their public rally.
That picture has been featured a few times recently on BP. I only hope that child didn't grow up to be a racist.
Load More Replies...I have a new hero to look up to. I can’t imagine what it was like to be in that man’s shoes. He is showing unbelievable grace and dignity. I don’t know if I could have done the same. Those people he is guarding are an embarrassment to the human race. It makes me cringe any time I see something like these people out there. And it’s still going on. I would love to shake that man’s hand.
I've always found it odd that so many Americans are bigoted against the slaves they forced to work for them, that literally built their country for them. Same with the Chinese labourers who built the railroads, without them, the US would not be what it is today. Imagine if white Americans were kidnapped today and shipped to Africa, sold as slaves and forced to work in the mines? A little gratitude would not come amiss. They added so much to the country, albeit forced.
same goes for the Africans who built all of the infrastructure in Africa under force/duress by colonisers.

This subreddit shares anything and anything that just might pique your interest. But there’s also no pressure in the group to share something that is fascinating and mind blowing. Members don’t have to worry about receiving comments about how boring their post is because, hey, they never promised that it would be amazing!
Having the freedom to share only mildly interesting posts can actually be a relief given the landscape of most of the internet nowadays. Social media often bombards us with countless perfect videos and images that are intended to teach us something new, change our lives and inspire us to follow the creator’s advice. The Mildly Interesting subreddit, on the other hand, has no such pressure. Just share things that made you think, “Huh, that’s interesting.”
My Bank Gave Me A Roll Of Brand New Pennies From 1964
Not too long ago I used an ATM to pull out cash, my bank gave me two $20 bills from 1934. I still have them, I cannot justify spending them.. (I'm in america)
That is surprising since ATMs are typically loaded with new (or at least barely used) bills to help keep them from malfunctioning.
Load More Replies...I used to work as a bank teller. We would occasionally get very old and rare money. I think that a lot of this type of money gets into circulation from stolen coin or bill collections. Collections are stolen then the thieves spend the money.
I got a $2 bill (US) in change the other day. Gonna save it for my friend's kid who's never seen one.
$2 bills are being made today. You can get them from any bank.
Load More Replies...I have a $20 bill from 1950 that came through the fast food place I worked at. It's not worth more than face value (I checked) but I have fun pulling it out and seeing if people realize what's different (other than the image). If you were curious, the "in God we trust" is missing (this didn't appear on paper currently till 1953)!
it's a bank, they probably keep them for gifts etc.

It's the Emergency Exit seat. You are usually asked about being able to help others in case of an emergency and the need to exit the plane quickly... I don't get the people who want to see out of planes. You don't really see anything
I Boiled Down 5 Gallons Of Seawater And This All The Salt
I wonder which coast (if USA, or other source) and how they compare. The salt water off the beach in Florida is way more salty than the salt water off the beach here in Washington state. Presumably due to heat / evaporation in the shallows. It was similar when I was recently swimming in Bohol (Philippines). The salt water was so salty it stung your eyes and left a lot of taste in your mouth if you got some in your mouth. It's just sort of random curiosity but having swum in variations like that I'm curious how much physical difference in the salt content.
You can use the salt for cooking. But only use half as much cause it is very salty.
I think really tiny? Or else it's a really large counter top?
Load More Replies...How pure was the water to start with? Not just microplastic, but all kinds of chemicals, not to mention all sorts of sewer matter. Yikes
Not necessarily. My family owns a vacation home with an old wood stove in the kitchen that we use to heat several rooms. We do those kind of projects always in the fall/winter. The stove is burning anyway, might as well put something on top of it.
Load More Replies...I’ve heard the word “interesting” described as a “nothing adjective” before, meaning that it doesn’t actually tell us anything about what it’s describing. It might often be used when people really meant that something was strange, confusing, impressive, offensive, disgusting, exciting, funny, etc., depending on the context. But it’s also important to keep in mind that what one person considers interesting might be incredibly boring to another person.
Raynaud’s Phenomenon (Vasospasm)
Perfect finger for it to happen to. Gives extra "oomph" when gesturing.
"What you just said was so outrageous, even my middle finger went pale!"
Load More Replies...Those might be the longest fingers I've ever seen. Perfect hands for playing an instrument.
It's strange, I definitely have Raynaud's...something, but it more visibly happens to the whole hand, it's like red at first, then it slowly becomes purplish-red. It's mostly visible on the back of my hand.
I just started getting it, and only the finger tips go white and then become purple. Curious-did yours start with the entire hand?
Load More Replies...To all you people who have this going on and who posted here: Raynaud's syndrome can be indicative of an underlying illness, especially when severe. Please be aware of other issues that might be occurring at the same time and see a doctor. Raynaud's can be treated with medication. Yes, I have Raynaud's combined with scleroderma and Raynaud's was the first symptom when everything else hat had been slumbering in the background decided to become severe. . https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9849-raynauds-phenomenon
I have this. Have for 20-30 years. It's embarrassing when it's cold and rainy and you run to the store and can't get your money out of your wallet because you can't feel your fingers. When they warm up they turn purple and hurt. Luckily I don't have it so bad that they start taking me piece by piece. That happened to a friend of the family. It can be very serious.

Instead, we’re describing our experience of seeing or doing something. “While we might describe objects as interesting, we should recognize that this is a loose, and shorthand, way to describe what’s really interesting–our experience of them,” Anisa Purbasari Horton explains, noting that we have to remember how subjective “interesting” is.

Horton also points out that, as humans, we often seek out interesting things or experiences, even if they may not be particularly pleasurable. We typically see value in doing something interesting, such as learning a new language or running a marathon, even though we might not enjoy them as much as, say, sitting at home and cuddling with our dogs.
“Interesting experiences spark the mind in a way that stimulates and lingers,” Horton writes. “They can also be easy to come by — sometimes just a sense of curiosity is needed to make an activity interesting. Look around, feel the pull, and cherish the interesting.”

Pureed diet-they put the food into molds so that it might resemble what it is supposed to be.
Load More Replies...Those meals are perfect for sufferers of dysphagia. It's nice to have alternatives for those unable to eat solid foods.
I remember a nasty throat infection I got when I was around ten; had serious trouble eating solids and was stuck drinking yoghurts and eating soup with no solids in it for at least a week. My first meal after I got better was buttered white bread with cut tomatoes and salt/pepper on them (so simple, but was more exciting than just more yoghurt or more beetroot soup)!
having had to have a soft diet in hospital i can appreciate this effort. nothing is less appetizing that little globs of food on a plate. doesn't matter if it is seasoned properly and tastes decently. just makes you not want to eat at all. you eat with your eyes first.
I know pureed foods exist, of course, but I've never seen them molded like this. I guess I always pictured just a bowl of slop. Glad I'm wrong!
That's the usual way, but this hospital made an extra effort to make the meal look more appetizing.
Load More Replies...I had to live on pureed food for seven Bloody Long years!! At least these are created to resemble the food as best as possible. Extremely beneficial for anyone with choking difficulties from neuropathies or even from a stroke, it is still considerably better than living on soup forever. I was always so damn hungry though as there's no chewing required which is part of what makes you feel full. There's a couple of UK companies home deliver these, highly nutritious, well balanced meals. I do remember one that looked like the cat had puked up biscuits 🤢 Yet that meal was incredibly tasty. If you have a relative with swallowing complications then these really make a huge difference 😊
While there are plenty of things that most of us can agree are quite interesting, we certainly don’t all agree on what grabs our attention. For example, a documentary about Ancient Rome or a nature documentary featuring deep sea creatures would not be my first choice of what to watch on any given evening. Yet my partner finds both of those things fascinating. I, on the other hand, would prefer to watch a documentary discussing cults, true crime stories or the problems with animal agriculture.
My Friend Works For The White House And Got Us On Their Christmas Card List
You don't need to know anyone. All you have to do is write them and they will write you back. We sent a wedding invite to President George and First Lady Laura Bush in 2004 and received a lovely regrets card that is displayed in our curio with our other wedding memorabilia. We didn't vote for him but thought it would be a great keepsake.
Just gonna say this is about the last thing I'd complain about. I pay taxes, getting a Christmas card would be nice. Giving billions in subsidies to corporations that make billions in profits is something worth complaining about.

Do you dread going to an event where you meet new people and inevitably have to share an interesting fact about yourself? I have a few go-to fun facts that I’m always ready to tell strangers, but once I’m in a group of people that I already know, they’ve probably heard them before and I quickly run out of ideas of anything that sounds remotely interesting.
If you’re in the same boat, have no fear. Science of People has a few ideas for how we can all become a little more interesting. And their first step, of course, is to stop doing uninteresting things. Watching Netflix, talking about the weather, and eating the same meals all the time should immediately be removed from your daily routine. You’ve got much more fascinating things to do!

Is this useful? I’m asking from a practical standpoint as someone who has taken care of patients that have ignited their oxygen several times and are demanding to smoke around their burns. I’m not sure this is worth the considerable effort it looks like. Maybe if they put spikes on the ends to prevent use? I understand the idea. Just not convinced it actually makes sense.

Ooh. I may have to look into this for my half of a shared driveway. Current HOA rules state that if my neighbor is parked on her driveway (which she always is), my side won't get plowed. Do NOT get me started on that fact.
Her car would get egged. In winter. I’m no expert, but I’m going to assume that it’s more difficult to get frozen egg off of your car than regular egg.
Load More Replies...Definitely Chicago. This became more commonplace when the city required repairing the old damaged side walk as part of issuing a new house permit. If you are already laying new pavement, the additional cost is not terrible, and the amount saved on shoveling (in time, $$, or back trouble) generally justifies it. If, you know, you can already afford to build a brand new house. (Edit: confirmed Chicago; found the house. Nice block.)
When you want to hate that they have this kind of money, but realize it only helps people for once...
I worked at a university in the northern US. The original heating system was steam tunnels and they laid the sidewalks between buildings directly over them so they melt in the winter.

How could it still work all that time if it couldn't jiggy the little 'notches' into place?
Looks like a key for a second gen dodge truck. They have terrible electrical systems and not many added electronic features aside from a door buzzer and some idiot lights. My friend Joe had a 97 1500 that he could pull the key out of and hand to the passenger while driving.
Load More Replies...Wow, I'm surprised the old one worked, and how they were able to make the new one.

My Cigarettes Came Out Of The Vending Machine With An Euro Taped On It
It's, from time to time, quite common in Germany. Every time the government raises the tabbaco tax (or any other related tax connected to smoking) and some of the cheaper cigarette brand manufacturers can't match the cigarette box's filling volume they tape some money onto the box... it's usually not more than half a year you'll see this cash-back. Then they've adapt volume and/or box size and everything's back to "normal".
Sure could use that out here in Chicago (US)!! A pack of🚬 is now over $18!
I don't smoke anymore but I just checked prices in Indiana, and you get a pack from $8 - $11, depending on brand. Might be worth coming on over. 😂
Load More Replies...They used to do this all the time to make change if the vending machine required a certain type of coin or bill. Like: a pack of cigs is 2.75 guilders, you put in 3 guilders, got a quarter back like this. Cigarettes prices were regulated . The coin and amount I quote is wayback.

They Censored The Word “Brownie” On All These Packages In My Local Grocery Store
From a commenter on OP’s post: "Browni" and "Brownie" are registred trademarks of Eti in Turkey. Other brands cannot use it. Edit: "Browni" was registred by Eti in 1986 when foreign foods weren't in Turkish market. In 2000s the biggest baked goods company of Turkey, Ülker (Owner of McVities and Godiva these days) tried to use "Brownie" for their products, but Eti won the legal battle as "Browni" is a well established brand for 20 years already. Edit 2: Brownie is not a word in Turkish. The generic name for the food is "Çikolatalı ıslak kek", moist chocolate cake in English.

My Tpn (Nutrition Pumped Into My Heart) Has Olive Oil And Egg In It
I HIGHLY doubt it goes straight into your heart, but I'm open to being corrected on this
TPN goes into a person through a port which does go straight to your heart. I have a port but I’m not on TPN
Load More Replies...You Doubting Thomases need to google parenteral nutrition. You will find the tip of the catheter goes into the right atrium.
It is lipids, protein and dextrose infused into a very large line typically with the tip of the IV line very close to the heart. That way there is a very large volume of blood to decrease osmolar and osmotic pressures and minimize damage to the body. This is standard for TPN. (Source - Im a Clinical pharmacist who has been writing TPNs for over 20 years)
*Parenteral nutrition means feeding intravenously (through a vein). "Parenteral" means "outside of the digestive tract." Whereas enteral nutrition is delivered through a tube to your stomach or the small intestine, parenteral nutrition bypasses your entire digestive system, from mouth to a**s.19 Apr 2022*
I've always heard people say "olive oil is good for the heart." This puts extra meaning into it.
Actually it does go into the blood very close to where the venous blood return enters the heart. Tpns provide fats, protein, dextrose dor patient nutrition and it had to be given through a large vessel to dilute the mixture upon reaching the blood stream to minimize osmolar and osmotic pressure. (Source - Im a clinical pharmacist who has been writing TPNs for patient nutrition for over 20 years)

I mean, at this point, if you're paying their salaries via tips AND their health insurance, aren't they your employees?
Oh good. I thought I was the only one that has no idea what this means
Load More Replies...Consumers ALWAYS are paying towards employees health insurance and any other benefits the company gives. This is just shoving it in the peoples face because the company is being a tw@t about it (probably because they're required to give health insurance by law) and want customers to be upset.
Load More Replies...Just another way for Employers to be a$$holes. "We're forced to give our employees healthcare, so look how much it costs you, consumer because we're fronting the cost to YOU!"
