From nomophobia, an irrational fear of being without a mobile phone, to xanthophobia, a fear of the color yellow, countless phobias exist out there. Now this time, we’re delving into the mind of megalophobes, people who are in fear of anything large, like skyscrapers and jumbo jets.
In fact, there’s a whole corner of Reddit dedicated to sharing examples of this phobia known as megalophobia. “A place to post images of all things large, particularly ones that are 'triggers' for those with megalophobia,” the group’s description states.
Below we rolled up some of the most interesting examples shared on the group, so scroll down. Also, when you’re done reading this one, make sure to check out part 1 of the article.

Load More Replies...Aside from how much of a Petri dish for germs a poop cruise can be, just the f*****g crowd of people packed like sardines on all those decks puts up all kinds of red flags for an introvert like me. No real private place to recharge my social battery. So this would be a huge No F*****g Way for me.
I'm not even an introvert and I hate it... Big fat NO for me as well.
Load More Replies...Probably depends on what “bad for ocean” means. Its propeller definitely can cause harm to ocean life (even the noise can disrupt some form of animal communication in water). The fuel will definitely spit extreme amount of emission into the atmosphere, helping ocean level to rise (unless it runs on hydrogen, which I doubt). Other than that, unless they throw their trash into the ocean, it probably has very little, if any, effect to ocean (I’m not expert though, so I might miss some crucial information)
Load More Replies...apparently this monstrosity is still under construction and will be operational next year
Load More Replies...Setting for "Hunger Games: Water World Edition." Or maybe, "Purge II"
Load More Replies...I can't think of anything I would care to do less than boarding one of these abominations
I always thought about that I might like a cruise...but no. I'll take a cabin in the mountains with no one around for 100 km rather than being shoulder to shoulder listening to "The Killers" on repeat, watching child after child riding down a crowded waterslide between their bloated father.
Not going to lie. If any sort of apocalypse was to happen. I would try to take one of these over of these. Sure the upkeep will be impossible even with a good team but for a time I could enjoy the open seas and not be bored while the world goes up in flames.
Erm... Any sort of apocalypse might include tsunamis as well...😳
Load More Replies...is it just me... or are the water slides way out of proportion compared to the humans? And there is the banana for scale? Having trouble here.
I don't get the attraction of these. I would rather go on a riverboat cruise that only have like 200 or so people on board. I can't wrap my head around how they organize everyone if the boat starts to sink.
I don't understand how some people look at that and think it's awesome and not awful.
I went on a cruise ONCE with a group of friends. It was such a miserable experience. Too many people drunk and acting a fool all around you...and there you are, trapped with nowhere to go. I guess there's something for everyone and I hear people say that they go on cruises every year. This is not for me. Anxiety Level 1000
It does cost, but I don't think it's any more "only for the rich" than any other type of vacation. In fact, it can actually be very cheap comparatively. For example, I'll probably never be able to afford to take my family to Disney, but a few years ago (precovid) my husband and I were able to go on a 7 night cruise for two for less than $1200, meals and travel included and $200 onboard credit. That's cheaper than a VRBO rental for a week at the beach, and that's just the house, not including food, travel, or anything.
Load More Replies...I wonder if you could build a rocket engine powerful enough to put that into orbit.
There is in theory no physical limit on how big a ship can be when it comes to water displacement. Room and ressources are a limiting factor though
And to think that if I throw myself in the ocean...I would go straight down!!!
I wonder just how top heavy that thing is. I can't imagine it feels good in bad weather, and there's only so fast they can go to get away from bad weather.
You couldn’t PAY me to be in this floating Petri dish of germs, bacteria, and disease.
I don’t see the point: they’re just floating shopping and food malls.
Go there during covid, and even if it is full you can keep the 2 meter easily.
I thought cruises were supposed to be stylish and cool looking. This is an eye sore.
Looks like hell to me, or a breeding pit of virus and bacteria.
The design brief. 'Build the biggest ugliest ship anyone has ever seen.. ever.'
I adore traveling, however, being stuck on a mega cruise 🚢 is my own personal definition of hell.
Can I call dibs on this for the end of the world? Everyone must vacate apart from essential crew members, unless I am able to train a crew of my choosing before then. Not exactly sure how long we have left until the end of the world, so I would ask those who use it in the meantime to please look after it.
The size doesn’t matter; it’s just distasteful, in general. It has no business sullying the oceans. Seen in such close proximity of the photos of Point Nemo or the majestic beauty of the iceberg, both pictured above (at the moment, at least), it’s almost obscene in how garish it is.
My nightmare is being caught with this many people in these close confines with no way out.
Probably barrel distortion from the camera's lens, but it looks like those two towers aft are about to fall off the boat
Looks like a polly pocket set on a stream, with the white thing being a handle lol
wow...floating theme park...passenger capacity must be insane. I wish they brought back ocean liners instead of making cruise ships humongous...i like travelling by boat since I hate planes, but just looking at this is making me exhausted.
There has to be at least 1 person there that is not right, and me with no where to run. NO THANK YOU!!
Soon we all will be Googling "Icon of the Seas" and "maritime disaster."
Oh that looks like fun. Kinda like being stuck in Times Square on New year's eve for a week. And paying for it.
If I went on that, I would cry and they would have to call the police to get me off
Not a real ship. Not yet, it's being built to go into service on the cruise line as of next year, and an even bigger one is being built to go into service 2024 ._.
i've always wondered where all the toilet waste goes on a ship this large
I was in Sorrento when a smallish cruise ship docked. The town was mobbed, with long lines for everything. Can you imagine just how swamped Venice, for example, would be? Pun accidental, but pretty accurate.
Venice is banning cruise ships. Even much smaller ones.
Load More Replies...This is a computer generated image. The ship itself isn't due for launch until 3rd quarter 2023
Royal Caribbean just keeps building bigger and bigger cruise ships. This one can handle nearly 8000 people.
1,200 feet long. Will average 5,610 passengers, but could hold 7,600. 10,000 if you count crew. Nicknamed, "human lasagna" for the 20 layers. Taller than the Eiffel tower.
Won't ever find me aboard a monstrosity like that... too many people with nowhere to escape to.
Obviously funded by Dubai or similar. Have they not heard of 'living lightly'?
Scheduled to enter service in 2024. Only then will we know if it's a titanic engineering failure.
Eeeek from a layman’s point of view it’s so too heavy how does science keep it afloat!
I'm much to fond of quiet for this to be anything other than uncomfortable
That is insane. Just travel to a place. This defeats the entire point of a cruise.

Gather round while I sing you of Wernher von Braun, A man whose allegiance, is ruled by expedience. Call him a Nazi, he won't even frown. "Ha, Nazi Schmazi," says Wernher von Braun. Some have harsh words for this man of renown, But some think our attitude Should be one of gratitude, Like the widows and cripples in old London town, Who owe their large pensions to Wernher von Braun.
