Load More Replies...To find out more about the Conceptsjpeg Instagram account, we reached out to the page's creator. They were kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda and share how it came to be in the first place.
"I started this page as a moodboard for myself to post random stuff I liked," they noted. "Sort of like Pinterest. A lot of it was just random pictures of artists and home decor stuff. My account was public, and I randomly started gaining followers. So I started posting more about artists, and [it became] basically a music page."
"But then, I don't know, I started posting more random stuff, and eventually it became what it is now," the creator continued. "Mostly news and cool facts, but also random cultural stuff here and there. It’s been mind blowing seeing the page grow this much. I can’t believe it sometimes."

That's so cool! It takes a lot of talent to draw someone you've never seen, based only on the description by another person.
The thing is that the most important skill is not drawing. It's ELICITATION, i.e. the ability to extract informations by asking the right questions and interpret the answer, recognizing common mistakes or asking for confirmations without skewing the witness memory.
Load More Replies...This is AMAZING!!! She gets to create art AND help solve crimes!!!
The creator says that there isn't any logic to what they post, though. "It’s mostly stuff that I think is cool or interesting," they shared. "I find posts mostly from other pages, or if I watch a movie and I think it’s cool, I post it. As I said, it’s mostly random."
On that note, they don't have any particular favorite posts that they've ever shared either. "I never really think about it. Even if I post something and it doesn’t go viral, I don’t care. I post cause I like it, whether others agree or not doesn’t impact me," the creator said.

Finally, the creator left us with some kind advice for everyone reading: "Believe and trust in yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to. Even if it doesn’t work, keep pushing regardless. Do it because you want to do it, not for the outcome."
This Homeless Man’s Rabbit Was Thrown Over A Bridge By A Passerby And He Immediately Jumped Into The River To Save His Pet
John Byrne, a 37-year-old homeless man, made headlines after leaping off Dublin’s O’Connell Bridge into the icy river. After locating his bunny in the water, he performed life-saving measures, including mouth to mouth resuscitation to revive the rabbit.
For his bravery, Byrne received a Compassionate Citizen Award, he was also given animal food and a job opportunity.
The man responsible for throwing the rabbit, Gary Kearney, was charged with animal cruelty and sentenced to four months in detention.

During Luigi Mangione’s Time At The University Of Pennsylvania, He Founded A Club Called “Upgrade,” Where Students Met Once A Week To Spend Two Hours Developing Their Own Video Games
He made sure everyone knew they were welcome, even if they didn’t know how to code
Luigi killed one man who was responsible for thousands and thousands of deaths by corporate decision. Guess which one would have never been brought to justice.
There's a LOT more to a game than coding. Game logic, virtual walkthrough to make sure the story is consistent, planning, assets (graphics/sounds), endless amounts of testing - best performed by people who don't use computers much because they're more likely to try odd things.
He is not the evil bad guy that the politicians made him out to be. Trying him for t*******m is ridiculous but should tell everyone that the CEOS and other management out there has a lot to worry about; i.e. they know they've done a lot of wrongs and are afraid that Americans will come for their skin.
You mean like the deaths of people who were denied health care coverage?

Nope. The term "black panther" refers to a melanistic kitty of either the Panthera pardus or the Panthera onca species - leopards and jaguars, respectively. So a "black panther" could be a melanistic leopard OR a melanistic jaguar :)

Wolves And Ravens Share A Surprising Relationship, Almost Like A Friendship In The Wild
Ravens follow wolf packs because they know wolves are great hunters and will leave behind food scraps. In return, ravens can signal prey or carrion with their calls and flight patterns.
What’s even more interesting is that some studies suggest they recognize each other and even play together in a true example of cooperation between species.
I've seen them in the wild... the ones in Alberta, atleast, are a lot smaller than people seem to think they are. Also, our ravens are huge. For some reason people seem to expect wolves to be pony sized instead of German Shepherd sized.. *but that might be a coyote in the picture
Load More Replies...I had a raven in Japan came up and grabbed my lighter off the table and toss it to me. He looked at me intently nodding his head, so I tossed it back and we played catch for a bit until he was happy and flew off. Ravens are very cool.
I live in a coastal/rural area and we get several different corvids in the garden, including ravens. They are a fair bit bigger than the hooded crows and magpies, not far off the size of some of the seagulls. Its fascinating watching how they work together to get food-the crows will wait until any seagulls have gone, but the ravens don't bother, they work as a team, chase off the gulls and take it in turns to do sentry duty while others eat. I'm spending a small fortune on food for them as they are so watchable (although I'm still waiting for them to bring me lots of shiny things as gifts...)
I PROMISE one of my life goals is to befriend a murder of crows that bring me shiney presents!!! Is literally written on a list.

Upvoted you, because I can't imagine why somebody would down vote. Yes, dogs, horses, cats, and even rabbits tend to be handed or one sided. Lots of theories discuss whether or not has anything to do with the position in the womb, lack of symmetry while growing, the way an organism moves, etc. Believe me, I know about horses being sided. Nothing worse than being cursed with being strongly right sided myself and riding a right sided horse trying to get them onto a left lead for a canter.

Cats are clean. Would you rather see a cat, or a co ckroach or rat?
If the food is sealed, and the cat is up to date on all its shots, worming, and health care, and kept in a sanitary condition regarding litter box, bedding, etc., then what's the problem. Go home, wash off the bottle and enjoy. Crapola, if you're not already washing vegetables and the top of your soda cans you buy at the mega-corporate supermarket, you're pretty dumb.

Dogs are amazing! Can you imagine looking up and seeing a dog parachuting out of the sky??? 😁
An angry airborne Malinoise is one of the most terrifying things I can think of.
Load More Replies...The level of training for these dogs and the trust they have for their handlers is astonishing. They can be taught to swim underwater in total darkness when they have no idea how long the tunnel will be or even if there is air at the end of it; they just trust that their handler will not allow them to come to harm. Malinois have zero sense of self-preservation.
Chicco too. He also says his ears (he's a cocker spaniel) would keep him airborne and collapse the chute. I'll take his word for it.

Meanwhile my Malinois, Fenring, over here looking extremely uncertain about this tiny plastic pool full of tiny plastic balls I asked him to sit in at an event at our local pet store last Saturday... XD fen_in_the...fc294e.jpg
But they may jump up and attack him when he's not looking.😂😂 He is a lovely dog.
Load More Replies...If the dog is trained properly (and military/police dogs usually are) then the dog will do it voluntarily, because their trusted and beloved handler is asking them to do it. They do not even have it in their mind to hesitate, because their trainer/handler has never hurt them or allowed them to come to harm before. A dog that WOULD hesitate would have been washed out of the training program long before and either trained for a less intense role or adopted by someone as a pet :) I have a Malinois and while he is just a pet and not a working dog, he would leap off a cliff if I asked him to, because I have never hurt him or told him to do anything where he's gotten hurt/scared. These dogs are very intelligent and must be trained with trust and kindness.
Load More Replies...Mongolian Horse Archery Is A Traditional Practice Where Riders Shoot Arrows While Galloping On Horseback
Historically, this skill was vital for hunting, protecting livestock, defending tribes, and waging war.
The Mongolian composite bow, renowned for its power and compact design, allowed archers to shoot efficiently from horseback
As a horseback rider I'm seriously impressed by people who can ride while doing some other skilled activity at the same time! When I'm riding I'm only able to focus on riding. 😁
Same lol, I tried to do an obstacle course at a show once and I was hilariously bad at trying to put on a muumuu while galloping 😂
Load More Replies...The bow is secondary. The real mongolian innovation was to develop and teach their animals a specific gait pattern that left the rider more stable. The second innovation was a saddle and short stirrup design that allowed full control of the horse with just the feet, while the rider could stand stable on the stirrups. Add in that mongolian horse archery training was customary for boys and girls starting at age TWO. A horse archer could vault on the horse and even ride sideways to hide or shield himself from arrows.
…this also requires work on the part of the horse and requires an incredible skill in training them not to become stressed out at ‘unnatural-feeling’ balance shifts. Both rider and horse need a huge amount of dexterity.
And then there was my horse who was afraid of puddles on the ground. 😂
Load More Replies...Horse archery is very important among several ethnic groups across the steppes and Siberia. Mongolians, Oroqen, Buryats, Manchu, Evenki, Daurs. iirc, the Mongolian bow is shorter and fires lighter arrows much further, and the Manchu bow is longer and its heaver arrows could pierce armour; classmate few years ago had a Mongolian composite bow and I have a Manchurian composite bow, the latter is definitely longer (it's longer than me when strung!) and has a greater draw length, both are designed for use on horseback.
I did a bit of both for a while: archery and horse-riding, but never together. Definitely would be a task of keeping both myself and my firing arm steady at the same time. A compound bow isn't light and the horse I was assigned back then almost pretty much jumped and buckled at any sudden movement, either from myself or anyone/thing nearby, so go figure.
Using horseback is why Genghis Khan's empire was bigger than Alexander the Great's.
The Mongol Empire was the second largest in existence by area at its height, fourth largest by population. The fourth largest by area at its height and largest by population, the Qing Empire, was also headed by horseback archers.

Orthodox Monks Playing In The Snow On Mount Athos, Greece (2015)
“It was the first snow in seven years. It was just after breakfast. The monks showed excellent throwing skills despite their lack of experience. After a short while, all the snow on the ground had been used, and everyone went back to their rooms as if nothing had happened. It was quite a unique experience.”
The same year there was also a rare snowfall in Jerusalem. On the internet there's an amazing shot of a Palestinian kid pitching a snowball, his arms perfectly poised in a professional baseball pitcher's stance. In my head I can hear some club owner's voice saying "Sign that kid up immediately!"
Really odd, was that the year it snowed in Cairo? Very odd teaching kids to make a snowball in sight of the pyramids!
Think that was 2013. That did get a great picture too: 6dx3srfha6...8a3ca2.jpg
So is the writer trying to say monk's do not throw anything normally so with the snow they decided it would be a good time to experience throwing something.
I think they're trying to say that the monks don't usually do activities that involve throwing ball-shaped objects, like playing baseball, etc. They probably know how to throw things in a literal sense, but haven't really done things like play sports even just for fun, etc.

Being curious about the world and others is a great quality to have, as it will draw people closer to you and allow you to deepen your relationships. Cats Have Extremely Short Attention Spans Meaning That Training Sessions Longer Than 5-10 Minutes Usually Lead To Boredom Or Disinterest
Is that why my kittens get bored with their toys in less than a day? At this point I have more cat toys in my house than I do anything else. I rotate them frequently and put things away for another time. Of course lately their favorites have been q-tips, ice cubes, and a drink lid that I dropped. 🤣

In 1996, South Park’s Creators Trey Parker And Matt Stone Pitched The Idea Of The Show To TV Network
Their families saw animation as just a hobby, and the show’s humor felt too risky to ever succeed.
However, they built its legacy by appealing to adults—and 26 seasons later, it’s one of the only animated series that can produce a brand-new episode in just six days, letting it mock real-world events almost as fast as they happen.
They are brilliant. Just saw "Book of Mormon" for the third time. Still hilarious.
Contrary to what many could think, South Park animation was quite advanced at the time. Only the first pilot was made with cardboard cutout. From the very first episode of the first season the show was produced using Alias Wavefront, then a top-of-the-line animation software, that later was bought by Autodesk and renamed Maya; it was the graphic engine behind The Abyss and Terminator 2. Parker and Stone designed a production pipeline that was super sleek, high tech, efficient and incredibly reactive, moving from the months of work required for the pilot to being able to churn out full episodes in three days.
Check out the documentary "6 Days to Air". It shows how they do an episode in six days. It's such a great film.
My 92-year-old mother who came from Canada laughed when I showed her the South Park scene when they sang, "Blame Canada".

I'm guessing the school has a considerable catchment area. Moving the teacher or the school closer to one village likely means farther from two others, and those other parents would have to cross TWO rivers.

It’s flooded floors are home to thousands of fish. After closing in 1997 and losing its roof in a 1999 fire, rainwater filled the space. To fight a mosquito outbreak, locals introduced Catfish and Koi, turning the mall into a massive indoor pond.
It has been since been removed, because it turned out to be a tourist magnet and the local authorities were not keen on having hundreds of idiots strolling around a decrepit condemned building. They tried to fence the area but people kept removing and damaging the fences to get those sweet instagram pics. The building was already dangerous to begin with, being initially built three times higher than designed (not uncommon in Thailand, and cause of a few prominent disasters), while its structures have been damaged by fire, water and partial collapses. Locals started offering "guided tours" of the building that were deemed exceedingly dangerous so in 2015 the fish were transferred to a local park, the building was condemned and it's in the process of being converted to a new commercial space.
The alternative is millions of mosquitoes. I know which one I'd choose.

Hananuma Masakichi: The Man Who Became His Own Statue
When Japanese artist Hananuma Masakichi was diagnosed with tuberculosis, he believed he didn’t have long to live. As a final gift to the woman he loved, he created a life-sized statue of himself so eerily realistic that people struggled to tell them apart.
Carving each body part separately from dark wood, he meticulously painted and lacquered the surface to match his exact skin tone. He went to extreme lengths for accuracy—drilling tiny holes for every pore, plucking out his own hair (from everywhere), and embedding each strand into the sculpture. He even removed his own teeth, fingernails, and toenails, placing them onto the statue for complete authenticity. To finish, he dressed it in his own clothes and glasses.
Despite his remarkable talent, Masakichi outlived his own prediction by a decade but tragically died in poverty in 1895. His masterpiece still exists today, a hauntingly lifelike tribute to his devotion and artistry.

This phenomenon has been documented over several years, with various icons, including those of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and saints, reportedly receiving similar treatment from the bees.
First, Icons are made on painted, glazed ceramic: it's hard to stick hives to ceramics, because it's non-porous. Second, bees tend to avoid bright colored spots preferring to build their hives on evenly colored surfaces. There is nothing mystical in this story, the same thing happens if you put a colored plastic ball in a hive.
I was wondering if it was more than a so called miracle that the bees wouldn't do that.
Load More Replies...Oh come on! I don't believe I've seen any Scientific studies proving "Bee Religion" exists. I wonder why? I've seen Bees build hives around many types of things, if something else is in the area they want to build a hive in, it will get incorporated into the hive. And here you are, directly placing the religious item into their hive where they have to build around it, and you show that as proof that Bees believe‽ What strain are you smoking? Asking for a friend. And me too, but also for my friend.
I am sure nobody got the idea to coat the saints with something bees find repellant or make the area unsuitable to attach comb cells because surely not ...
Since bees recognize human faces, perhaps they like seeing "friends" in the portraits and enjoy their little art galleries.
Three Children In Spain Were Rescued After Being Locked Inside Their Home Since 2021 By Parents Paranoid About Covid-19

In 2023, japan produced a record 4,000 tons of matcha, nearly three times what they made in 2008.
Nowadays they put matcha in everything. Matcha ice cream, pastries, donuts, etc.
Also matcha was not really used outside of Japan a couple of decades ago. Now there's a global market for matcha
Load More Replies...For those who didn’t know: “Matcha is a powder that’s made of finely ground green tea leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant. Farmers grow the plants in the shade for much of the time, which boosts the plants' chlorophyll and amino acids, and gives them their vibrant green color.”
They are running out of actual Ceremonial-Grade Matcha (it's commonly faked), less is being produced every year because of the difficulty in producing such a high grade. What those numbers refer to is the lower grade matcha powder - compared to ceremonial grade it's really bitter.

Snakes Can’t Feel Love Like Dogs Or Cats, But They Can Recognize Humans And Feel Safe Around People Who Treat Them Gently

My favorite story about a snake owner (don't know if it's true but it's a wakeup call) is the one where the owner, a woman, let's her large snake (python, anaconda-I don't know) sleep in bed with her. The snake stops eating and she gets concerned so she takes it to the vet. The vet examines the snake and doesn't find anything medically wrong, so the vet asks the owner what the daily habits are, and she reveals that she sleeps with the snake and the vet grows pale and tells her to stop immediately because the snake is making room for her; cue malicious music...
Yep I remember that story. It stopped eating because he was gonna eat her eventually. Glad she changed her sleeping habits. lol

Osho, The 1970’s Cult Leader Who At One Point Owned 93 Rolls Royce’s, Took Over A Small Town In The Us, Including Their Government And Renamed It Rajneeshpuram
The Rajneesh movement at its peak had around 25,000 devotees worldwide. Many of them living in their commune in Oregon. He was eventually arrested and reported back to India after his second in command, Sheela, was caught committing bioterror attacks against the original residents of Wasco County
Their commune has now been turned into a christian evangelical summer camp, whose parent organization has an openly discriminatory policy and is currently under investigation for hiding sexual misconduct against kids and for racial discrimination.
I believe everyone had to wear sun-up colours as well (red, orange, yellow). I held a party once in graduate school (1983? 1984?) where everyone had to wear these colours and we watched "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." I should dig out my photos some time.
Read the FBI report for all the insanity. One thing Sheela tried was to have her groupies gather roadkill (a raccoon and some other squished small animals) blended up the guts, and poured that into the water supply for the Dalles, which is the county seat, which they were trying to take over control. When that has no effect, then they tried poisoning the county and state officials with botulism laced candies. When THAT didn't work, then they poisoned salad bars at different restaurants in the Dalles to try to keep people from voting in the county elections
When a journalist for the Oregonian wrote a detailed report about the group in India, members of the group got hired into the cleaning crew for the Oregonian offices and tried to smuggle in a machine designed to crash and erase the newspaper's servers. There had been a supervisor change on the day they were going to do it, and they backed out and never tried again

‘Rosie The Shark’ Was A Great White Shark Found In An Abandoned Amusement Park In Australia
She was originally caught in tuna nets, k**led, and transported from home to home with each plan for relocation failing. When she was finally found, she had been sitting there for 7 years, rotting in formaldehyde.
The story is ultimately ironic in the sense that she has been preserved for all these years while simultaneously neglected.
In 2019, Crystal World and Prehistoric Journeys, a museum and fossil/mineral exhibit center in Melbourne, Australia, took on the challenge of moving and restoring her. It was a massive undertaking. They had to safely drain and remove the toxic formaldehyde and replace it with glycerol, a safer preservation fluid. Rosie now rests there, being properly maintained and viewed by the public.
There are currently no live great whites in captivity anywhere in the world. It's been tried but they never survive for very long - it's hard to meet their needs because they get so big.
Good, they should leave the sharks in their home, where they belong.

People suck with what they do to dogs. Pedigree dogs have more genetic problems and a shorter life than mixed breeds. We don't let humans inbreed (okay other than European royalty in the 19th century) but we will force dogs to inbreed for some trait we like. SHAME ON HUMANS
The 1915 one looks healthy. The 2016 one looks like he has a deformed snout ... are they REALLY bred to look so? I mean, SO? Why is that?
These animals are victims of hypertype, a breeders' deviance that will exaggerate a characteristic trait to such an extent that it becomes a handicap for the animal simply for supposedly aesthetic reasons or to make them supposedly cuter.

A Revered Buddhist Monk In China Has Been Mummified And Covered In Gold Leaf, A Practice Reserved For Holy Men In Some Areas With Strong Buddhist Traditions
The monk, Fu Hou, died in 2012 at age 94 after spending most of his life at the Chongfu Temple on a hill in the city of Quanzhou, in southeastern China, according to the temple’s abbot, Li Ren.
The temple decided to mummify Fu Hou to commemorate his devotion to Buddhism — he started practicing at age 17 - and to serve as an inspiration for followers of the religion that was brought from the Indian subcontinent roughly 2,000 years ago.
Immediately following his death, the monk’s body was washed, treated by two mummification experts, and sealed inside a large pottery jar in a sitting position, the abbot said.
When the jar was opened three years later, the monk’s body was found intact and sitting upright with little sign of deterioration apart from the skin having dried out, Li Ren said
