To find out more about the Conceptsjpeg Instagram account, we reached out to the page's creator. They were kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda and share how it came to be in the first place.

"I started this page as a moodboard for myself to post random stuff I liked," they noted. "Sort of like Pinterest. A lot of it was just random pictures of artists and home decor stuff. My account was public, and I randomly started gaining followers. So I started posting more about artists, and [it became] basically a music page."

"But then, I don't know, I started posting more random stuff, and eventually it became what it is now," the creator continued. "Mostly news and cool facts, but also random cultural stuff here and there. It’s been mind blowing seeing the page grow this much. I can’t believe it sometimes."

The thing is that the most important skill is not drawing. It's ELICITATION, i.e. the ability to extract informations by asking the right questions and interpret the answer, recognizing common mistakes or asking for confirmations without skewing the witness memory.

On that note, they don't have any particular favorite posts that they've ever shared either. "I never really think about it. Even if I post something and it doesn’t go viral, I don’t care. I post cause I like it, whether others agree or not doesn’t impact me," the creator said.

Nowadays, we have access to more information than we could ever need right at our fingertips. Want to know what year your city was founded? You can find out in seconds with a quick Google search. Unsure if you can put soy sauce in the dinner you’re making for your gluten-free friend? Just ask the internet (spoiler alert: you can’t).

But one of the downsides of having infinite information available to us is that many people have stopped being curious. There’s no need to wonder or actually use our brains when we can get answers without any effort. Why even read a book when you can get a quick summary from Wikipedia and spare yourself 12 hours?

Wolves And Ravens Share A Surprising Relationship, Almost Like A Friendship In The Wild

A coyote standing in snowy nature with two black ravens, showcasing unique animal behavior and nature interaction.

Ravens follow wolf packs because they know wolves are great hunters and will leave behind food scraps. In return, ravens can signal prey or carrion with their calls and flight patterns.

What’s even more interesting is that some studies suggest they recognize each other and even play together in a true example of cooperation between species.

I live in a coastal/rural area and we get several different corvids in the garden, including ravens. They are a fair bit bigger than the hooded crows and magpies, not far off the size of some of the seagulls. Its fascinating watching how they work together to get food-the crows will wait until any seagulls have gone, but the ravens don't bother, they work as a team, chase off the gulls and take it in turns to do sentry duty while others eat. I'm spending a small fortune on food for them as they are so watchable (although I'm still waiting for them to bring me lots of shiny things as gifts...)

Lots of theories discuss whether or not has anything to do with the position in the womb, lack of symmetry while growing, the way an organism moves, etc. Believe me, I know about horses being sided. Nothing worse than being cursed with being strongly right sided myself and riding a right sided horse trying to get them onto a left lead for a canter.

The level of training for these dogs and the trust they have for their handlers is astonishing. They can be taught to swim underwater in total darkness when they have no idea how long the tunnel will be or even if there is air at the end of it; they just trust that their handler will not allow them to come to harm. Malinois have zero sense of self-preservation.

If the dog is trained properly (and military/police dogs usually are) then the dog will do it voluntarily, because their trusted and beloved handler is asking them to do it. They do not even have it in their mind to hesitate, because their trainer/handler has never hurt them or allowed them to come to harm before. A dog that WOULD hesitate would have been washed out of the training program long before and either trained for a less intense role or adopted by someone as a pet :) I have a Malinois and while he is just a pet and not a working dog, he would leap off a cliff if I asked him to, because I have never hurt him or told him to do anything where he's gotten hurt/scared. These dogs are very intelligent and must be trained with trust and kindness.

Mongolian Horse Archery Is A Traditional Practice Where Riders Shoot Arrows While Galloping On Horseback

Man wearing fur coat aiming bow and arrow while riding a black horse in snowy nature with animals around.

Historically, this skill was vital for hunting, protecting livestock, defending tribes, and waging war.

The Mongolian composite bow, renowned for its power and compact design, allowed archers to shoot efficiently from horseback

The bow is secondary. The real mongolian innovation was to develop and teach their animals a specific gait pattern that left the rider more stable. The second innovation was a saddle and short stirrup design that allowed full control of the horse with just the feet, while the rider could stand stable on the stirrups. Add in that mongolian horse archery training was customary for boys and girls starting at age TWO. A horse archer could vault on the horse and even ride sideways to hide or shield himself from arrows.

…this also requires work on the part of the horse and requires an incredible skill in training them not to become stressed out at ‘unnatural-feeling’ balance shifts. Both rider and horse need a huge amount of dexterity.

Horse archery is very important among several ethnic groups across the steppes and Siberia. Mongolians, Oroqen, Buryats, Manchu, Evenki, Daurs. iirc, the Mongolian bow is shorter and fires lighter arrows much further, and the Manchu bow is longer and its heaver arrows could pierce armour; classmate few years ago had a Mongolian composite bow and I have a Manchurian composite bow, the latter is definitely longer (it's longer than me when strung!) and has a greater draw length, both are designed for use on horseback.

I did a bit of both for a while: archery and horse-riding, but never together. Definitely would be a task of keeping both myself and my firing arm steady at the same time. A compound bow isn't light and the horse I was assigned back then almost pretty much jumped and buckled at any sudden movement, either from myself or anyone/thing nearby, so go figure.

Learning something new every day can also be an excellent way to combat cognitive decline. In fact, a study by the Mayo Clinic found that keeping your brain sharp by constantly learning throughout your life is connected to a significant delay in “age-related mental decline.” In other words, keep learning that foreign language, continue doing puzzles and word searches, keep reading books that stimulate your mind and don’t be scared to take up a new hobby that requires lots of concentration.

I think they're trying to say that the monks don't usually do activities that involve throwing ball-shaped objects, like playing baseball, etc. They probably know how to throw things in a literal sense, but haven't really done things like play sports even just for fun, etc.

Learning can also be excellent for personal growth and development. You might not be able to prove on paper that you’ve been getting smarter, but the more you learn, the better you’ll understand the world. This will also make it easier to have conversations with new people or build connections with others. Being curious about the world and others is a great quality to have, as it will draw people closer to you and allow you to deepen your relationships. And, of course, it can increase your self-esteem if you feel confident entering any situation.

In 1996, South Park’s Creators Trey Parker And Matt Stone Pitched The Idea Of The Show To TV Network

Two men with cardboard cutouts of animated characters in a narrow stairwell, related to nature, animals, and fun facts.

Their families saw animation as just a hobby, and the show’s humor felt too risky to ever succeed.

However, they built its legacy by appealing to adults—and 26 seasons later, it’s one of the only animated series that can produce a brand-new episode in just six days, letting it mock real-world events almost as fast as they happen.

Contrary to what many could think, South Park animation was quite advanced at the time. Only the first pilot was made with cardboard cutout. From the very first episode of the first season the show was produced using Alias Wavefront, then a top-of-the-line animation software, that later was bought by Autodesk and renamed Maya; it was the graphic engine behind The Abyss and Terminator 2. Parker and Stone designed a production pipeline that was super sleek, high tech, efficient and incredibly reactive, moving from the months of work required for the pilot to being able to churn out full episodes in three days.

It would make more sense to have the adult teachers take that risk and cross the river daily! Look how rough and choppy that water is; this is terribly dangerous! Or better yet, have the teachers live on the same side of the river. This is nuts.

I'm guessing the school has a considerable catchment area. Moving the teacher or the school closer to one village likely means farther from two others, and those other parents would have to cross TWO rivers.

But if you need a simple motivation to increase your knowledge, don't forget that learning can also be incredibly fun. While it may be hard work to pick up a new skill or learn how to have a conversation in Spanish, the joy you feel when you start to progress is priceless. I can’t tell you how proud of myself I was when I baked my 15th yeast recipe and finally figured out how to get the dough to the perfect consistency. It took a lot of practice and trial and error, but it was worth every minute when I finally tasted pillowy soft, freshly baked kolaches.

This Abandoned Mall In Bangkok Hides An Unlikely Secret

Fish swimming in murky water under a decaying concrete structure showcasing nature and animals in urban decay.

It’s flooded floors are home to thousands of fish. After closing in 1997 and losing its roof in a 1999 fire, rainwater filled the space. To fight a mosquito outbreak, locals introduced Catfish and Koi, turning the mall into a massive indoor pond.

It has been since been removed, because it turned out to be a tourist magnet and the local authorities were not keen on having hundreds of idiots strolling around a decrepit condemned building. They tried to fence the area but people kept removing and damaging the fences to get those sweet instagram pics. The building was already dangerous to begin with, being initially built three times higher than designed (not uncommon in Thailand, and cause of a few prominent disasters), while its structures have been damaged by fire, water and partial collapses. Locals started offering "guided tours" of the building that were deemed exceedingly dangerous so in 2015 the fish were transferred to a local park, the building was condemned and it's in the process of being converted to a new commercial space.

The correct name is "Zucchetto", not "zuchetti", and it's an informal name coming from the shape with seams on the slices reminding of a pumpkin ("zucca"). The formal name is Pileolo ("small conic hat") or Solideo (from the latin motto "Soli Deo Tollitur", meaning "removed only in honor of god"). It's different from the jewish kippah in the fact that it has eight slices instead of six or seven. The original function was to keep warm the head of the Tonsurati, i.e. those who tonsured their hair as a sign for devotion.

Hananuma Masakichi: The Man Who Became His Own Statue

Wax figure of a thin man with glasses holding a small object, displayed in a museum with informative signs about nature and animals.

When Japanese artist Hananuma Masakichi was diagnosed with tuberculosis, he believed he didn’t have long to live. As a final gift to the woman he loved, he created a life-sized statue of himself so eerily realistic that people struggled to tell them apart.

Carving each body part separately from dark wood, he meticulously painted and lacquered the surface to match his exact skin tone. He went to extreme lengths for accuracy—drilling tiny holes for every pore, plucking out his own hair (from everywhere), and embedding each strand into the sculpture. He even removed his own teeth, fingernails, and toenails, placing them onto the statue for complete authenticity. To finish, he dressed it in his own clothes and glasses.

Despite his remarkable talent, Masakichi outlived his own prediction by a decade but tragically died in poverty in 1895. His masterpiece still exists today, a hauntingly lifelike tribute to his devotion and artistry.

There Are Reports Of Beekeepers Near Athens, Greece, Who Observed That Bees Built Honeycomb Around Religious Icons Placed In Their Hives, Leaving The Faces And Bodies Of The Depicted Figures Uncovered

Close-up of a honeycomb with a colorful image of nature and animals visible through a gap in the hexagonal cells.

This phenomenon has been documented over several years, with various icons, including those of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and saints, reportedly receiving similar treatment from the bees.

First, Icons are made on painted, glazed ceramic: it's hard to stick hives to ceramics, because it's non-porous. Second, bees tend to avoid bright colored spots preferring to build their hives on evenly colored surfaces. There is nothing mystical in this story, the same thing happens if you put a colored plastic ball in a hive.

Let's test this! Take a images of Iggy Pop, Black Sabbath, and Nick Cage. Use the same techniques to make icons of them, and we'll see what happens. My hypothesis is it's the object itself the bees aren't keen on, not the image of the people represented.

Oh come on! I don't believe I've seen any Scientific studies proving "Bee Religion" exists. I wonder why? I've seen Bees build hives around many types of things, if something else is in the area they want to build a hive in, it will get incorporated into the hive. And here you are, directly placing the religious item into their hive where they have to build around it, and you show that as proof that Bees believe‽ What strain are you smoking? Asking for a friend. And me too, but also for my friend.

For those who didn’t know: “Matcha is a powder that’s made of finely ground green tea leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant. Farmers grow the plants in the shade for much of the time, which boosts the plants' chlorophyll and amino acids, and gives them their vibrant green color.”

They are running out of actual Ceremonial-Grade Matcha (it's commonly faked), less is being produced every year because of the difficulty in producing such a high grade. What those numbers refer to is the lower grade matcha powder - compared to ceremonial grade it's really bitter.

My favorite story about a snake owner (don't know if it's true but it's a wakeup call) is the one where the owner, a woman, let's her large snake (python, anaconda-I don't know) sleep in bed with her. The snake stops eating and she gets concerned so she takes it to the vet. The vet examines the snake and doesn't find anything medically wrong, so the vet asks the owner what the daily habits are, and she reveals that she sleeps with the snake and the vet grows pale and tells her to stop immediately because the snake is making room for her; cue malicious music...

With shoes on I can't go through some doors without banging my head. I can't sit upright in many cars. The list goes on... Read the FBI report for all the insanity. One thing Sheela tried was to have her groupies gather roadkill (a raccoon and some other squished small animals) blended up the guts, and poured that into the water supply for the Dalles, which is the county seat, which they were trying to take over control. When that has no effect, then they tried poisoning the county and state officials with botulism laced candies. When THAT didn't work, then they poisoned salad bars at different restaurants in the Dalles to try to keep people from voting in the county elections

Paris Syndrome (Pari Shökögun) Is A Sense Of Extreme Disappointment Exhibited By Some Individuals When Visiting Paris, Who Feel That The City Does Not Live Up To Their Expectations

Young woman posing near a Parisian balcony with the Eiffel Tower in the background, showcasing nature and travel vibes.

The cluster of psychiatric symptoms has been particularly noted among Japanese tourists, perhaps due to the way in which Paris has been idealised in Japanese culture

If you mean Wisconsin, yes. It's a college town that got too big for its britches and is filled with doüche. Visit Madison or La Crosse instead - much better if you like the touristy hipster college town vibe.

Probably because every (american) AI model will have been trained on that text early on, so all AI texts will have some degree of similarities to it. And with so many similarities to so many AI texts, the AI detector's AI reaches the obvious conclusion... Some nice irony there.

There's a high chance it was SPECIFICALLY designed to look like that, as the phallus was seen as good luck and as a protective symbol. Unironically. C**k-blocking had surprisingly positive connotations in Greece.

‘Rosie The Shark’ Was A Great White Shark Found In An Abandoned Amusement Park In Australia

Large aquarium tank with greenish water in a dim, cluttered room showcasing unusual nature and animal environment.

She was originally caught in tuna nets, k**led, and transported from home to home with each plan for relocation failing. When she was finally found, she had been sitting there for 7 years, rotting in formaldehyde.

The story is ultimately ironic in the sense that she has been preserved for all these years while simultaneously neglected.

In 2019, Crystal World and Prehistoric Journeys, a museum and fossil/mineral exhibit center in Melbourne, Australia, took on the challenge of moving and restoring her. It was a massive undertaking. They had to safely drain and remove the toxic formaldehyde and replace it with glycerol, a safer preservation fluid. Rosie now rests there, being properly maintained and viewed by the public.

I agree, and I also prefer the older standard for German Shepherds before the various Kennel Clubs decided a straight back, and solid hips were not hip. The Kennel Clubs have caused dogs to be bred with a vastly increased likelihood of dysplasia.

People suck with what they do to dogs. Pedigree dogs have more genetic problems and a shorter life than mixed breeds. We don't let humans inbreed (okay other than European royalty in the 19th century) but we will force dogs to inbreed for some trait we like. SHAME ON HUMANS

These animals are victims of hypertype, a breeders' deviance that will exaggerate a characteristic trait to such an extent that it becomes a handicap for the animal simply for supposedly aesthetic reasons or to make them supposedly cuter.

That's Chris-McCandless-level idiocy here. He tried once and had to quit because the ocean is COLD at night. He didn't arrange for a support ship as is common in these attempts, deliberately chose a route more dangerous than the one everyone suggested him, ignored local authorities telling him about the dangers. He designed the kayak's modifications himself despite not having formal training in engineering or shipbuilding. When he called for help he didn't give GPS coordinates despite having a perfectly functional satnav and emergency beacon, and the helicopters could not locate him because he didn't bring a strobe beacon. All of this for an enterprise *that had already been completed 20 years before* by an english guy on a rowboat.

A Revered Buddhist Monk In China Has Been Mummified And Covered In Gold Leaf, A Practice Reserved For Holy Men In Some Areas With Strong Buddhist Traditions

Portrait of an elderly man wearing traditional attire and prayer beads, showcasing a random fun fact about nature and animals.

The monk, Fu Hou, died in 2012 at age 94 after spending most of his life at the Chongfu Temple on a hill in the city of Quanzhou, in southeastern China, according to the temple’s abbot, Li Ren.

The temple decided to mummify Fu Hou to commemorate his devotion to Buddhism — he started practicing at age 17 - and to serve as an inspiration for followers of the religion that was brought from the Indian subcontinent roughly 2,000 years ago.

Immediately following his death, the monk’s body was washed, treated by two mummification experts, and sealed inside a large pottery jar in a sitting position, the abbot said.

When the jar was opened three years later, the monk’s body was found intact and sitting upright with little sign of deterioration apart from the skin having dried out, Li Ren said

The guy is Takeshi Kimura, a.k.a. CarGuy, who does these stunts with his $2M sportscar. He is a racing driver in local Asian series. He took the F40 snow drifting and did a few other weird things in order to become viral. That said, several car enthusiasts in the past claimed he uses a replica for these stunts, and looking at the whole photoset I am quite convinced they are right. The cuts on the tail end are off, the door cutout is slightly different and the wing connects to the body with a smoot radius while the original is sharper.

If you can afford a car like that you can afford to holiday in the places you choose, be it a 5 star hotel, or on a camp site. The key factor in having money is it allows you more choices. Some people love camping. They prefer camping to other forms of holidays. And that's just fine. (My preference is for a good, supportive bed.)

When my youngest was in high school, a teacher mentioned an afterschool club. The Offspring said they'd come. "You'll need to talk it over with your parents and get their permission." "Oh, it's okay, my parents let me do what I want." The teacher looked concerned. "No, it's okay. All I have to do is present a reasoned argument, and let them know where I will be, who I'll be with, and when I'll be coming home. They let me do what I want." - - - I don't think the Offspring had worked out they hadn't asked to do anything we might object to. :oD
