My first day in Ireland I tried to plug my laptop in and was shocked it didn't fit. I'm from Poland and it's easy to think the whole Europe is the same, we forget about the crazy islands.
Yeah, we like to be different to the rest of Europe over here. Can't even blame Brexit for this one - they've been as they are for many decades. (UK, Ireland, and Cyprus only, to the best of my knowledge). The rest of Europe have the round ones, except Switzerland, who has the flat hexagonal one on the left.

Some countries use two phase and some three phase electricity. You'd not be able to use your stuff safely even with the right plug, right?
I always pack a set in my luggage, can't rely on the hotels for this, would be nice though!

Switzerland has borders with France, Germany, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein, plenty of tourists to keep happy and that’s just the direct neighbours.
love it! i once accidentally ended up in a posh hotel in the UK (sunday, off season, discount) and they had this too, made my day though i didnt need it.
Because that would require all the countries (except for the selected plug design) to change the plugs in their houses or buy adapters, plus all commercial buildings, etc. That’ll be a big expense and effort. Replacing USBs is easy as they come with newly bought items and don’t require altering your home.

I just take a multiplug block and one adaptor to go on the end - 4 or 5 plug sockets for the price of one.
I guess they forgot North America? In Canada and the USA there are none of those configurations...
The third one along will take an American plug. It likely runs at 110V too, unlike Europe who normally run at 220-240V. (We do have a few items that like 110V, and their sockets look like that.)

This list reminded me of a hotel in Germany where there was a little tasseled cord on the headboard - when you pulled it, it played a little music box lullaby!

a lot of nice things. I was just wondering if im the only one who doesnt like towel animals. First of all i think it takes up too much time for them. Second of all i dont like the idea of "messing" with towels i have to wipe my face with. I cleaned holiday cabins and appartements. We were told that things had to look clean, they didnt have to BE clean. No time to wash hands in between. I was smart enough to bring my own rubber gloves.
