People typically frequent a bar or restaurant for two reasons: the menu items and the ambience. And if you’re entering a dining establishment for the first time, a unique vibe alone can be persuasive enough to make you want to sit down and order.
These bars and restaurants are a testament to the creativity of people when it comes to aesthetics. Through these photos, you will see how some places go above and beyond just to provide customers with an experience they likely won’t get elsewhere.

On The Wall In A Restaurant In Pembroke, Ontario. Hope It Inspires More Restaurants To Follow Suite
Sadly, where I live, people would snatch those meals even if they didn't need it just so the "G_psies or Ukrainian parasites" won't get them.

What a wonderful way to help! No need to be embarrassed by begging a meal, just present your receipt and eat!
This Restaurant Shows The Wait Times For Each Dish
Everything came out way faster than stated.
That’s the trick. Give someone an expectation you know you can beat, and the person walks away happy.
Chatted to lovely waiter in Dublin airport , he was saying how much harder it is working there than a normal Restaurant as turnover of customers is so high and constantly cleaning tables/ taking orders etcI hadn’t thought of that
Load More Replies...all are plates to be done in an "express" way... these are not dishes that can be prepared hours in advance and then reheated, they would not have the same flavour and aroma, and and it takes time to cook them
Great idea! I hate ordering an appetizer and a salad with my entree and having all three delivered at the same time while I have been starving for 20 minutes.
Every Restaurant Should Start Doing This
An American thing, apparently in some places a bar can be prosecuted if a drunk has an accident on the way home.
Load More Replies...I would rather it be more courteous like: We will no longer be serving you alcoholic beverages, but we can provide you with water until your ride arrives to take you home. Please do not drive
You know you have a problem when they start using it as a punch card.
Someone drunk enough to get this can still focus their eyes well enough to read?
I am having a hard time imagining a drunk taking this well. I think most would get a bit belligerent.
But if you give it to someone who is already drunk, then they will still be drinking and driving.
In this day and age, good food and excellent service aren’t enough for a restaurant to stand out. According to a 2023 report, 89% of diners want an overall experience that includes a unique ambiance.
Similarly, 72% of restaurant-goers prefer experiential dining, which may include chef’s tables, themed events, and interactive culinary experiences.
This Bar Has Over $10000 In Dollar Bills On The Ceiling
The place is called Turtle Rock Cafe in Napa.
I talked to the owner and he said the place has been open since the 1960’s and the dollar bill thing started in the 80’s a practical joke on the original owner (current owners dad). Him and his good friend got into an argument so his friend stapled his “tip” to the ceiling.
More and more people started doing the same and it became a tradition. Every 20 years, they take down all the bills and donate the funds to charity. The last time it happened the total was $20000!
It's lovely that it all goes to charity, but what a good neighborhood it must be that it doesn't get robbed!
If it’s stapled on wouldn’t it damage the note making it mutilated currency?
If more than 50% of a bill is presented at the bank and the serial number visible and complete, then you get a new bill in exchange. The two tiny holes from a stapler are no problem

Fortunately, the restaurant industry has been listening. The report adds that 64% of full-service restaurants have committed to investing in technology upgrades. 43% of them plan to incorporate digital menus, while 36% would provide contactless payment options.

I've eaten at a few of these in Europe with very similar atmosphere. One in Latvia had zero electricity. And another in Budapest would not give you utensils with your meal. But they did tie a very large bib on you. Usually, they have musicians playing on old instruments, and once a fire eater.

It’s important to note that experiential dining isn’t limited to eating in restaurants. According to DoorDash, it also matters when ordering online, particularly in terms of the menu's aesthetics.

This Restaurant Bathroom Has Two Different Soaps Depending On When You Wash Your Hands
Depends on the scent, for me! Love that this is an option though. I have a senior colleague who has sensitivities to scent to the point that the branch at which she works has been asked to not wear any perfumes/strong deodorants etc because those cause her issues. She is a darling though, and I think if anyone did wear something with malicious intent they'd probably be murdered by at least half of the office 😆
I don't mind if it's a scented soap or unscented. As long as people wash their dammned hands!
I wish more places would have unscented soap. I'm allergic to so many of the fragrances.

Customizing orders primarily involves offering multiple options that include meat-free substitutions, as well as dishes without dairy or gluten.
The Interior Of The Bacchanalia Restaurant In Mayfair, London
It's Greek and Mediterranean Cuisine.
Statues by Damien Hirst. The place has a collection of roman artifacts, but also features seemingly classical paintings, with people in toga and in classical greek/roman poses but taking smartphone selfies and using laptops... Bacchanali..._col_1.jpg

Greek and Mediterranean Cuisine is a bit of a repetition, Greece being in the Med.
They intend "Mediterranean" as "Southern Italian", that is very different from Greek cuisine.

Our Local Coffee Shop Uses Frozen Coffee Cubes For Iced Coffee
They hand you the cup with coffee cubes and you pour your desired flavor of hot coffee from a handful of dispensers. I drink the coffee fast enough that there are still cubes of coffee that are still melting when I'm done with my initial coffee.
I do this for my wife at home. She gets her iced coffee without watering it down.
Ultimately, restaurants and bars must prioritize creating a memorable experience for their patrons. As hospitality industry expert Peter Dougherty states, it can be done through a balance between creativity and innovation.
“To leave a lasting impression on existing customers or attract new ones, restaurants must capitalize on those details that set them apart from the competition,” he wrote.

Permanently Empty Table Setting To Honor Missing Soldiers
I was apart of one of the ceremonies, there was not a dry eye in the room. I was bawling.
POW/MIA TABLE The Military is filled with symbolism. This table is our way of symbolizing those that are missing from our midst. They are our commonly called POW/MIA’S. We call them brothers. The table cloth is white symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms. The single rose displayed in the vase is symbolic of the families and loved ones who keep the faith waiting for their return. The red ribbon tied so prominently on the vase is reminiscent of the red ribbon worn upon the lapel and breast of thousands who bear witness to their unyielding determination to demand a proper accounting of our missing, and the return of all live POW’s, and those left on foreign soil. There is salt on the bread plate symbolic of the family’s tears as they wait. The slice of lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate. The glasses are inverted. They cannot toast with us this season. The chairs are empty. They are not here.
This is at an Elks Lodge, and not a typical public restaurant/bar (you can see the Elks symbol on the pamphlet in the side of the photo). All Elks Lodges should have one of these tables. Each element represents something (although not all have the book). Here’s a link that explains more for anyone interested (from the Florida Lodge page). https://floridaelks.org/pow-mia-table
I've seen a few of these and have been informed (gently, but firmly) that taking a picture is considered disrespectful and in poor taste. Not calling OP either of these terms, just commenting.

Clementine Tower At A Restaurant
What a beautiful and useful display! And any ninny knows you don't refrigerate citrus fruits 🙄
FYI, I checked and in restaurants it's actually MANDATORY to keep fruit refrigerated. Per HACCP guidelines, oranges should be kept at 6-8°C for a no longer than 7 days to prevent bacterial growth. Fruit should be kept in unrefrigerated conditions no more than 2 hours (one if in an environment hotter than 25°C). So yeah, LOT of you are very confidently incorrect here.

This Awesome Restaurant In Rome Was So Tiny, You Had To Hang Your Wine Glasses
As the notice says, they are running an unlicensed restaurant. To serve food, you need a license, which comes with a bunch of health and safety regulations, periodic inspections, mandatory procedures, HACCP training, etc. Some places try to skirt this by presenting themselves as grocery stores (where on-site consumption is not allowed), going through a much less demanding process. They then set up a few tables nearby -often in the same room where they sell food- and think that’s enough to get away with it. Bad news: it isn’t. It’s common for law enforcement to shut these places down with hefty fines, usually accompanied by significant food safety violations. So yeah, don’t patronize these places.
My local grocery chain has tables and sells hot food, so they probably follow restaurant rules. But they also have a microwave there which you can use to heat up frozen meals you buy. I wouldn't heat up plastic personally, but I see people doing it.

At This Bar I Go To, The Prices Of The Beers Change Every 15 Minutes Based On Supply And Demand Inside The Bar
The prices are listed on a "stock ticker" above the bar. Randomly throughout the night, there are "stock crashes" where all the beers drop to their lowest price.
It's a gimmick that's been around for a while. I tried it only once in London, on the place that I think invented this thing, and I found it insanely irritating. When the prices drop on popular items there is a huge crowd at the bar, meaning long wait times. When they raise you know you are overpaying for stuff, and you will think twice about asking for your actual choice, maybe going for a second or third best just to avoid the ripoff. Drinks are usually already quite overpriced (doesn't seem the case for the one in photo though), so the drop is just a way for paying a beer at normal pub prices.
Every time you comment you just barf insecurity everywhere. It's kind of sad. Nothing is cool. Nothing is unique. Nothing is impressive. Either that, or you just must be pretty f*****g amazing that you can't possibly appreciate anything or anyone else.

This Chinese Restaurant Uses Real Peanuts To Prop Up Your Chopsticks
I'm in China and I really don't know how people with allergies survive here. I worked with a Canadian fellow years ago who was deathly allergic to sesame. He had to have his epipen with him every time he went out.
Peanuts are dangerous only by ingestion. Skin contact can in the very worst cases cause light redness, and only from the actual seed, not from the shell. No, allergy does not get triggered by people eating a peanut three feet away, even in contained spaces such as airplanes. We already had this discussion and there is a wide choice of peer reviewed studies with experimental proof denying this myth, I linked them in a bunch of comments months ago (but BP search sucks).
Having witnessed a colleague in a cubicle across from mine start having an itchy throat completely unaware of the fact that I had eaten a handful of peanuts just before, I beg to disagree. You can absolutely get symptoms from airborne particles if your allergy is bad enough, be it peanuts or something else.

Yesterday I Payed For Coffee With Bitcoin In Iran
I'm visiting my home country and my family since last week, and yesterday I was having a coffee in a cafe with some friends. While checking out, I saw this sign above the counter that blew my mind. It said that you could pay with Bitcoin, XRP, Doge, TRX, Litcoin, Ethereum, BitcoinCash, Monero, or ETH classic!
I asked if anyone had paid with crypto before? And they said only one. I am not a fan of paying for daily needs with crypto just yet, and I thought El Salvador accepting BTC as a legal tender was too early, but I really needed to try this, so I paid for everyone with BTC, and it was nice.
With the current inflation in Iran, which is INSANE and is estimated to be around 50 to 150% most people are converting their savings to US dollars and now crypto. 1 USD equals to 280000 Iranian Rials today. I hope crypto saves most of us.
"I hope crypto saves most of us." That might be the stupidest hope I've ever heard.
📉📈📉📈How much did you pay, though? And what will that be worth next week?

Maybe not as spectacular as some of these restaurants, and is really common in India anyway, but not worldwide I think- plenty of Indian restaurants give you little finger bowls after eating. They’re bowls of warm water with a lemon slice in them, and really do work wonders for the smell of food on your fingers and clean them well. Besides, the warm water makes it very relaxing.

There was a gorgeous restaurant in the bay area called iChina - you could rent out private rooms that had 3D projections across the walls so you felt like you were in another space/country/etc. but their costs (not just for this experience, but even for just the food alone) was way overpriced & they closed less than 2 years after opening. As it was considered high end, the construction cost was significant, likely in the high hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, given the upscale nature of the project and its location. I get they wanted to make money, but straight up robbing your customers makes them not want to come back. We went for dimsum & only got like 3 dimsum plates & 2 entrees, our bill came out to over $150
One of the most fun restaurants I've visited was " Po Folks " in LA. All sorts of interesting stuff, and being a train enthusiast, I loved the model train which ran around the room on a track mounted high on the walls.
