If you own a dog, you’ve probably had the urge to spin them into a meme at some point and spread it among your memebase. From facial expressions to adorable clinginess, our beloved four-legged companions can surprise you, make you laugh, and sometimes cry.
To prove it, we have selected 50 of the cutest and most hilarious canine pics. Not every image in this selection of funny memes features dogs, however. Some are about us and our emotional journeys as owners. Now that’s a little bit better since it hardly ever is about us.

Cute Dog Meme: “When Your Dog Knows How to Make You Feel Better”
Since my partner passed away, our dogs have honestly kept me alive. They’ve woken me up, made me go outside for a walk, and (after a few months) made me laugh. We’re extraordinarily privileged to have this relationship with another species.
Such a painful loss, I'm so sorry. I'm very glad you have such supportive little friends to help you get through this. You're absolutely right, by the way...it is a great privilege to love and be loved by them.
Load More Replies...I mean everyone knows that. It’s like bandaids they make everything better
Yet there are so many people who think animals don’t have feelings, aren’t self-aware, and will only hang around us from the instinct for seeking a source of food. Dobby clearly loves OP, is concerned that they’re sick, and wants to help them feel better, by using the same magic pink bunny OP gave him to make him feel better when he was sick. That’s a lot of thought and emotion there, including love, concern, logic (pink bunny = medicine for me, so must do the same for OP), and the desire to actively help the person who helped him. Animals who have bonded with humans will study us, tune into us, and become experts in our emotions and behaviors. We become the center of their universe, and they will do their best to keep us as happy as we keep them.
That is so sweet. My old man is not cuddly and likes being left alone but when I really don't feel well he'll snuggle up next to me and occasionally put his tuy on me
Jeremy Greenberg on Why Dogs Are Hilariously Human
Bored Panda contacted author Jeremy Greenberg, who writes humorous gift books for pet lovers (1). Some notable books Greenberg’s books include “Sorry I Pooped On Your Shoe” and “Sorry I Humped Your Leg.” When asked why we find dogs so funny, the author said, “Dogs have no idea they aren’t human. Cats know they aren’t human, and would be repulsed by such a condescending comparison. But dogs think they are us and want to do all we do. So we give them peanut butter and think it’s funny when they struggle to eat it with the ease of a kindergartener.”
Greenberg writes letters from the pets’ point of view to their owners in his books. Sometimes, he assumes the role so well that some might suspect he’s some Doctor Doolittle-type mind reader. “I am, without any guile, perfectly able to understand what our pets are thinking,” Greenberg confirmed our suspicions.
“But don’t be too impressed. As with dogs, it’s usually just a multiple-choice question of a few thoughts: One, I am hungry; two, I want attention; and three, the impermanence of material existence means that you don’t actually have to go to work and can take me for a walk right now!”
“When Your Dog’s Pure Love Is Really a Medicine”
I love that even with the cruelest of illnesses your Nan has these moments of happiness. Good luck to her, you and the rest of your family x
Loving animals must be a visceral thing with most humans. Obviously, animal haters don’t possess that DNA. Luckily, the majority of us do, and no matter what condition our brains or bodies are in, animals can still bring us so much joy.

I imagine that both are lucky to live only in the here and now without any tax returns, rent increases, wars, hunger, paycheck reminders, forest fires, heat waves, and floods...a wise man once wrote the following......»And there is a magic in every new beginning, that protects us and helps us in our living."
My mom had progressive dementia toward the end of her life. It hurt when I became "the lady with the dog", but it was wonderful that she remembered my little dog. The last day, when she didn't remember my dog, I knew it was the end. R.I.P. mom.
Your dog loves that each day he gets to renew her joy and his desire to have a new friend. He's my hero! Bless him, your grandmother and you! May each new day be wonder-filled and joyous as the one before.
Greenberg on Prankster Pups, Cats’ Dark Humor, and the Pets That Chose Him
Being a dog whisperer, however, isn't Jeremy’s only occupation. He is also a comedian and believes that dogs can be born entertainers. “Prankster puppies are plentiful. They love to do hilarious things like hide our shoes and terrorize delivery people,” Greenberg believes.
Greenberg suggests he did not choose pets as his subject material, “pets actually chose me. I have a terrible personality and cats and dogs are the only beings who can tolerate me. Seriously, I’m the worst.”
Wait, what? Cats? Yes, Greenberg says he’s more partial to cats, and other books in his catalog include “Sorry I Barfed On Your Bed” and “Sorry I Slept On Your Face.” Both are collections of letters from cats to their owners.
When asked about it, he added: “I relate to cats more because I have poor social skills and love to bite people.” And to address the age-old question: cats or dogs, Jeremy’s answer was much more diplomatic this time: “Truth is that, like music or art, one’s view of which pet is best comes down to personal preference. But I would say that cats have more ‘insult and shock’ humor, and dogs are more observational and family friendly.”

Whenever there is an unnecessary animal death or incident of animal torture in a book, I give it a one star review on Amazon and say that it’s because of unnecessary and gratuitous animal cruelty. Often it might not even be a big part of the story, but just a bit of filler, which makes it even worse in my opinion. Let’s make this a thing and maybe make authors think twice.

Why Greenberg Isn’t Worried About the Future of His Dog Books
When there’s plenty of funny dog content online, one might think authors in the dog genre would feel threatened by the competition. But Greenberg isn’t worried about the future of his hilarious letter books, saying, “Until you can give an Internet as a gift, I think these books will always have a place in warming human hearts.”
It’s not clear if every pet Jeremy has ever met relayed this message to him or just how he feels personally, but he tackles the question of bodily autonomy in cats and dogs. In a true animal advocate manner, he jokingly added: “Please forget to spay and neuter your pets.”

The Funniest Canine Surveillance

The Science Behind Why We Can’t Resist Cute Dog Pics
We enjoy browsing through dog pictures online, but have you ever wondered why we find it so appealing? What’s the science behind it? When it comes to our pets, our emotional connection drives our reactions — it’s my dog; I love it, so it makes me feel good. But what makes a meme of a small dog wearing a turtleneck and glasses so entertaining?
Looking at dog pictures online can “improve our well-being.” Multiple studies, such as one published by Jennifer Golbeck, Ph.D., featured on Psychology Today in 2020, have found that it benefits our mental health in the short and long term (2). The same perks apply when you see anything cute, but dogs, in particular, are an excellent stress reliever.
University of Victoria scientist Olav Krigolson, when interviewed by CBC in 2017, suggested that the power of unexpected cuteness is even stronger (3). When you don’t expect to see something wholesome and suddenly do, the brain perceives it as a reward. It results in a sudden dopamine rush, activating the same chemical reward system triggered by hard drugs.
But don’t be alarmed — the words “hard drugs” might sound alarming in the context of cute dog pics, but it’s not as severe as it seems. When scientists refer to the potential for addiction in this context, they mean an “addiction to a placebo,” according to Joshua Dale, a scholar from Seattle. It releases dopamine and oxytocin in the brain, but primarily, it just heals you.
Looking at cute dog pictures can also help with your attention and concentration, according to a 2012 study published in the PLOS Journal (4). The brain’s reward system is only triggered when we see a pleasant image as a surprise. So unless you’ve deliberately set up numerous cute dog picture traps throughout your day, you should be fine.

Load More Replies...Why Dog Memes Dominate Our Hearts and Health
A 2021 study published in the Psychology of Popular Media Journal has found that, at least based on the results during the pandemic, animal memes tend to be liked more than memes about us (5). The most popular ones are those featuring puppies or babies.
It shows that innate survival mechanisms, such as toward helpless animals, automatically trigger a more robust emotional response. The same study reveals that memes featuring young animals are perceived as cuter than those featuring young humans. The same goes for adult doggies and grown-ups.
People who own or have owned a dog naturally relate to dog-related content more and enjoy some health perks. According to Harvard Health, having a canine friend can reduce the risk of heart disease (6). Dog owners are also more likely to engage in extra physical activity due to taking daily walks.
Having a canine companion may also benefit our mental health. Dogs have been a massive part of therapy and education in recent decades. They’re often used as therapy animals because they help reduce the symptoms of depression and help build resilience to stress, explains Maria Cohut, Ph.D. in a 2018 feature for Medical News Today (7).
A Lifetime of Companionship in Two Photos
This makes me cry! Literally! My parents had dogs before I was born and we grew up together. Got pictures of the dogs sitting side by side next to me, when my parents would sit me on my toddler’s potty stool. They were like my siblings. It was hard letting them go… miss them so much. 🥲
Introducing the Kitchen "Roomba"
We had had dachshund named Odie like that. My nephew named him the "Odie Vac".
First of all, this is a dog that can park in reverse......and maybe bark in reverse, as well...
Dogs vs Cats: Why Both Pets Keep Dominating the Internet
Luckily, the health benefits of owning dogs aren't limited to them. Cats also have the same effect. As some headlines suggest, like the Guardian 2014 article, “Why the internet loves cats – not dogs,” cats are even more prevalent (8). The article claims dogs do funny things to appeal to their owners because they seek validation.
On the other hand, a cat gets in a tiny box just because it’s what it feels like at the moment. Essentially, dogs are try-hards. Jack Shepard (author of the article) calls a cat’s behavior “art for art’s sake.” But in defense of dogs comes Elena Cresci, with a 2016 Guardian feature, saying dog goofiness strengthens their relatability (9).
Cats always seem too cool for everything, too unbothered, yet there’s a persistent stigma of all cat owners being “crazy cat ladies.” Whichever pet you prefer, there’s no denying that cats and dogs dominate the internet.
“When Your Next Train Ride Comes with a Cuddly Companion”
We need to have dogs like this on all trains I think. Employ them and pay them in treats and loves
Maybe only on certain cars my nephew is deathly allergic to dogs.
Load More Replies...I think ALMOST all trains should have that, because my mom is SUPER allergic to dogs and cats. Even hypoallergenic or hairless ones, it’s their skin that she can’t handle. Her throat closes up. So while I personally would LOVE to have a pup in every train car, I also think it would be nice to have a spot where there are no pets. Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day ❤️
I love animals and I would be the first person to have Train Dogs and Store Cats everywhere, but I agree with you 100%. Some people are VERY allergic to animals and it is unfair to bring your dog/cat somewhere that animals are not normally allowed (or allow them to wander loose in places where they are allowed.) I used to work in a grocery store and it would infuriate me when people would just stroll in with their dogs that were clearly not service animals. I love dogs and I want to pet every single one that exists, but I do not think they should be allowed in many places. (True service animals are always allowed. ESAs, nope, sorry, those aren’t service animals.)
Load More Replies...I don't agree... even if the dog brings joy and makes time pass faster, there are many people who: are allergic, are afraid, or have an important work meeting and can't have dog hair on.
Reunited After Two Years
It's always so sad when siblings get separated. They should always be kept together in my opinion. If it's possible, please try.
It’s heartbreaking. But she could have given him her dog if she wanted them to stay together. He might not have taken the dog in order to hurt her, but they both could have loved the dogs equally. And in the end he did what was best for the dogs rather than himself. Giving up the dog could have been devastating for him.

Load More Replies...Everytime I see this pic I am sorrowed that this dog is not secured inside the car. Our dog loves to stick her nose out into the wind and inhales the whole world into her with her little booper. But she is secured with her own doggy seat belt sitting in her extra seat so she can not jump around or out of the window. And she is safe when a car crash happens.
I almost learned this lesson the hard way. My golden was hanging out of the window and sneezed, dropping his tennis ball. We were merging onto the highway. He went out the window right after to retrieve it. Traffic was slowed as it was rush hour, but still dangerous as heck. 5 lanes screeched to a stop as he happily gave chase. I jumped out, and he chased his ball to the median and grabbed it, I grabbed him, and pulled him back to the car. The second my door closed everybody gunned their engines and sped away. I thank G-d that there were animal lovers behind the wheel that day, we got lucky. From then on he wore a harness.

Covering Their Shift After All Those Years
SO sweet... wish you many more walks. Tho this I can relate *SO* much : That's you we got our current dog. When we went out to seen him 1st time at the animal shelter, and they said 'take him on a walk first to check him out". My wife had the leash and after 30 meters I stopped to tie my shoe. Looked up and there he stood 15 meters ahead, refusing to walk any further and just staring back right into my eyes in a "why are you not following" kind of way. that was when I knew his 6 month stay at the shelter where now over.
Mine does the same thing my little Chichi rat terrier always stops to see if I'm following her
Yep ...my Odie also stares at me while dropping his grumpies. Like I'd ever leave him. Silly, precious puppers.
My Chihuahuas only check if I'm still behind them when they make the great slow motion escape without leashes when it's walkabout time. Otherwise they are behind me hoping for dropped yummies or unscheduled walkabouts.

We Don’t Deserve Dogs
While I LOVE (and have upvoted) this, dogs don't actually have blood types. It makes it super easy to get a donation if needed, though there's usually a restriction on the size of dog they'll take from. You tend to find that the owners are employees of the practice, or those whose pets have been saved by donor blood. OTOH, cats have 4 groups, which makes it harder but, in an extreme emergency they can receive dog blood (xenotransfusion). Only once, but that's usually enough, given the size difference.
Load More Replies...Because they don't. Their owners donate the dog's blood.
Load More Replies...Sadly, both my dogs were ineligible to donate blood - they were on chemo and have since passed. My little guy had 2 knee surgeries. I never stopped to consider he might need blood if there were complications during the surgery. So, let me thank all those good dogs who've donated to save another one. You all are heroes.
Does he get a THANK YOU basket from the sick doggie’s owner? I don’t know if that’s a thing, but I think it would be awesome if there’s an actual site for that.
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the UK actually kind of do do this - they give food and "Christmas presents" to all their donor animals, as well as multiple free health checks. And they also make sure cats are rehydrated before they leave since they're generally quite rubbish about that.

What's the problem here? Doesn't everyone talk to their pets like this? 🙂
I can say with about 98% confidence the dogs do indeed want to go for a walk, but they are not ready to return when the human feels the walk should be ending. They want the walk to continue or a while longer.
Or they got really tired and don't want to walk home.

Certainly better than the usual ones in vet files. The ones about bitey patients (or owners). I never looked (never dared to), but I'm sure there must have been one in one of my bunnies' file that said she was an absolute chicken at the vet, to the point she would clamber over my shoulder and try and escape down my back. I did work there, so they all thought it was hilarious. As they pulled a bunny off my back while I'm bent double to try and stop her falling and hurting herself. And then there was the one who was so chilled she licked the vet. Both before and immediately after her vaccinations. They were definitely an entertaining pair.

My dog Bluebell had cancer back in the day and our vet wondered if we would think about treating her (unheard of back then). We agreed and he and a colleague at the hooman hospital provided medication and a treatment regime based on her weight I think. She never had any side effects, in fact travelled to Scotland with us the next day and caught a pheasant's tail feather after a good chase (we were the ones at the back,,,). No hair falling out, no vomiting, nothing except a bit of extra water to drink. Anyhoo, she survived 3 extra happy years. By which time, she would wag her tail off when we approached the vets, drag me in there, "yarooo" at all the staff and go straight to the filing cabinets in reception, looking hopefully at the vet nurses (yes, her own treat drawer), and, so they told me would go straight into "her" kennel downstairs. Thank you for the skill and kindness of vets and their nursing staff (and the receptionists who put up with weeping human clients).

“He’s Probably Going to Skip the Next Visit”
When my old, very arthritic dog goes to day care, she goes over and greets the new dogs if they’re having trouble. She’s a natural mother.
Actually my very scaredy cat puppy was nervous at doggy daycare, when another dog took her under her care, and taught her the ropes. Freya has since done that for another dog. I have had this dog since she is 10 weeks old, and she just is afraid of everything. I do everything I can to make her more confident. Some dogs just are shy, like some people!
Load More Replies...He will adapt and enjoy the other dogs' appeareance one day but please be very careful that he isn't overwhelmed by long times and too many dogs. Every day a small step further.
And then when you come to pick him up he be all like "please, please can I stay a little longer with my new friends".
The daycare I take my dogs to does a free trial day where they do a temperament test. The dog starts out meeting just one dog that's specially chosen; then a few more dogs are added, for a total of 3 to 5. I think that's a much better transition than throwing them into the fray.

The difference between dogs and cats. Dogs, for the most part love car rides due to trust, cats do not 'cause they do not trust us to operate such a complex machine. "ooo is going too fast!"

For the love of bacon that's AWESOME and I actually will be using this today!!!
My dog had a deep cut in one of his toes, and it was well bandaged, but it was the rainy season, so it had to be kept dry. Me, petting dog: Uh, could you circle the block a few more times? Big tip if you do.
I don't think people who need a Guide Dog are legally allowed to drive a vehicle. Not according to the Google search I just did. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Load More Replies...So, if this Uber driver has to have this service dog with them, that means the dog is on duty and cannot be petted by the Uber passengers, correct? That seems like a bummer, though I would absolutely respect the fact that the dog could not be petted. I could enjoy just looking at a dog, as long as I knew I wasn't distracting it if it was a service dog.

The Dog Always Comes First
I always feel so bad when my dog even gets bumped by someone. He's a 12 year old Pug with bad back legs so he sometimes has trouble walking, so when he gets bumped it hurts him and I always rush to give him lots of love and make sure that he's okay.
I always get sad when I accidentally yell at my dog or get upset at them because it makes me feel really bad and I hate seeing my dog sad
Hehehe, a customer at the pub stepped on not the tail, but the hairs of Max's tail. Max yelped (classic Greyhound Scream of Death) and Tony was berated by the entire clientele for the next half hour
Oh, they do. After barking at me solidly for ten minutes because I wouldn't move away, a neighbour's dog used some really choice dog swear words on me.

I felt very low, depressed if I'm honest, this went on for a while. One evening we went to a pub to meet some friends. I sat in the corner and just sipped my wine. After a while I realised that I was stroking this real mutt of a dog. He looked up at me and I swear he asked if I was OK now! He turned around and leant (heavily, he was a big dog) against my legs. He stayed like that for the whole time we were there. As I was leaving the landlord said "he always finds the sad ones, and makes them feel a bit better". So true. My mood lifted with his doggy friend's help 🐶🐕
Was getting off the train on my way to work. One of the police officers had his canine partner with him and they were standing by the doors. I asked if it was OK to pet him and the officer said "Sure. He'll love it." As I did, the working dog immediately leaned into me and was obviously delighted. Made my whole day.
We call it 'The proprietary paw' when he just sits next to you with one paw on your leg.
If they're leaning with their head higher than yours, that's not great. In doggy dominance a head lean on the other dog's back or shoulder is very clear. Walking or resting shoulder to shoulder and 'leaning' is comradeship.

Thanks for putting a helmet esque thing on your dog. I'm sure your dog would be lonely if you lost your skull, maybe consider protecting it?
i especially love that the dog has head and eye protection. (i read somewhere once that a bug to the eye at highway driving speed can take a dog's eye out, and it's worried me ever since...)

I didn’t know this was a thing. That’s so cool and very useful! Would hate to have someone break into my car because they thought my dog was in risk of overheating.
Very thoughtful of her so don't get too much slobber on the window while waiting for her to return!
Still not safe. In my county you could get a ticket for leaving a dog in a car alone.
Which type of car has this? It would be so handy at times when you don't want to run the car while waiting for someone.
That's a Tesla, but most electric cars let you leave the AC on when you're parked (they may not have the screen but you can achieve the same effect with a piece of paper...)

I had a dog do that when I was in kindergarten or first. He made it across town from our house, just in time to run in to the school as I got off the bus. My mom’s fiancé at the time didn’t believe in chaining him up, or keeping him in the house while we were out. Just kind of assumed the dog would stay put in a wide open area, no fences? He ended up in doggy jail at least twice. He was super friendly, though. Half the time he went frolicking off after deer and was home by time we got there. (And for anyone asking why mom didn’t step in - said fiancé was an abusive a$$. At that point it wasn’t physical abuse, but it was a lot of emotional and psychological.)
Sometimes fences don't help either. We had a blue cattle dog that would go over a waist high fence without even breaking stride. So Dad raised it to a six foot height. That just meant it took the cattle dog about 5 seconds to climb over it. He was pretty good though, he'd disappear from the yard at night, wander the neighbourhood for a few hours then be back in the yard in the morning.

Not a “poor baby” at all. Most animals handle having disabilities incredibly well. Blind dogs usually navigate perfectly once they’ve memorized a home’s layout. Deaf dogs learn to respond to visual cues. Tripods/paralyzed dogs can run just fine with a mobility aid if it’s needed. They have no idea that they are “disabled” and usually aren’t miserable in the slightest. My 1-year-old dog is severely disabled (balance issues, mobility issues, severe myoclonus - which is non-stop, uncontrollable full-body twitching) because he had distemper as a puppy - and he’s the happiest, waggiest, sweetest dog I’ve ever known. I know you mean well with sympathy and pity, but disabled pets are usually very happy critters if cared for properly :)

Trim your dog’s claws, you a*****e! I normally don’t cuss, but that is so bad for them!
I have a dog with black claws. These are really bad but my vet is very wary of cutting my dogs claws because he cannot see the end of the veins in them and they can bleed a lot and be very painful if cut too short. Only happened once but my dog now hates vets and has to be muzzled when we have to go there.
my one dog had never had his quick hit, but he's a big boy and realized that he can use his size to fight the nail trim, making it dangerous and more likely to hurt. he was always fine with it when he was small but then one day he just put his paw down. now we have to have the vet knock him out for a trim, its ridiculous 🙄

PSA: Citrus oil is toxic to dogs (and cats). Do not allow your dog/cat to eat or lick citrus fruits. Even citrus essential oils in a diffuser are toxic to them, as the particles get into their fur and can get licked off and ingested.
PSA addon: The toxic part is in the peel. That's why it's dangerous to have a whole slice there. However, the fruit itself only causes mild irritation in large amounts. This post was sponsored by my cat who would kill me if I didn't share little bits of my oranges with him whenever I eat them.
