A bank, a casino, a movie theater… the internet is many things. But above all, it’s a meme factory. Take the social media page 'Openly Gay Animals', for example. Catchy name, I know. But the content isn't about what it might suggest. Instead, this fun little online project uses animal photos to reflect the absurdity, pettiness, and painfully relatable moments of human life — and sometimes uses human behavior to explain the animals. The jokes work both ways. I guess, in the end, we're still just mammals making stuff up as we go.

A lot of people think that Belgian Malinois are aggressive, mean dogs. They're often used as police dogs and military dogs because they're very smart, loyal, easily trainable, eager to please their handlers, and have stamina and energy for days. But most of them are actually giant goofball sweethearts XD My Malinois is 70 lbs and his best friend is my 10 lb kitten - they play and wrestle all the time, and the Mal is so incredibly gentle and makes sure he doesn't hurt his bestie. You can actually WATCH my Mal make the decision to "let" the kitten "win" when they play together XD Fenring (my Mal) is large and strong enough to turn Riker the kitten into paste... but he doesn't. XD Mals are wonderful dogs - you just need to make sure you have several hours free each day in order to exercise both their minds AND their bodies XD XD

I've got several photos from when I lived in Georgia (US) where the rabbits and the fawns were checking each other in our front yard - a real Bambi and Thumper.
Alice Sun, a science writer with a background in environmental biology, was at first skeptical of people making animals famous on the internet, be it through memes or otherwise.
"Scientists have long warned of the dangers of anthropomorphism — when we attribute human traits to animals — because it prevents us from seeing the natural world in an objective way," she explained.
"They argue this may lead to an inaccurate understanding of animals and how we should interact with them."

I think this is AI or Photoshop. As I understand it cats lack the musculature around their eyes to really have brow expressions. Whereas dogs have specifically evolved the muscles necessary to have expressive eyes.

My friend was the med student at one of my psychiatrist appts. Known her forever and love her to death. She recognized my name and had them let me know it was her and they asked if I minded or if I wanted her to step out so I’d be more comfortable. I ended up having an emergency c-section with my oldest. There were residents standing in the doorway of the OR, if they had tried to come in I would have said NO. The only people that needed to be in there with ne & my husband were my OB/GYN, the nurses and anesthesiologist. The Dr even said after he had the baby out and started the 7 layers of sutures, yes 7 layers, that they left after the good part was over.

You supposed to give *informed* consent for non-essential staff/workers. *Informed* includes time to consider your choice, not "at the last minute when you are in pain". Lack of informed consent could be a breach of ethical standards of conduct.

We recently had to reduce our dogs' servings of kibble. Neither dog was at all happy. So we supplement to give them more volume: peas, cabbage (soaked then roasted), cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. They're happy now, as they feel they're getting a sufficient volume of food.

It's funny, the "literal" translation of the characters is closer to "investigation dog". I think it's not really a mistranslation/poor translation, but rather that Chinese doesn't really have the characters to literally write "explosive-sniffing" dog. Or if they wrote it literally in characters, Chinese speakers wouldn't really understand what the implication was (as in, it would make no sense, like writing "purple monkey dishwasher dog" on the harness.) I think the English is more literal, but it probably would have been better if they'd made "explosive" plural and wrote "Explosives dog" - that would make sense to native English speakers XD

My dog Fenring is like this! He is a very tactile-seeking dog and likes to touch things to investigate them, so he absolutely "pets" other dogs when he meets them XD He learned to be gentle, though, because his "big brother" dog is disabled, and Fen also grew up with cats, who didn't appreciate being whapped by a big paw XD Now Fen's best friend is my kitten Riker, and sometimes I walk into the room to find Riker standing with his head tilted up, eyes closed, purring super-loud, and Fenring has his paw on Riker's back XD That cat has learned how to get scritches any time he wants them!
