My sweet old Vera lived to be 19, and Petrushka, the kitty love of my life, lived to be 16-1/2 even though he became diabetic when he was around 10 and then instead of dying grew out of it and lived for another four years. That was 20 years ago and I still miss him—I guess I’ll always have a Petrushka shaped hole in my heart.
