did this w/my dad when i was 16. he said yes. but due to being in military & deployment i was 18 by the time we got to court. judge asked me why as i was an adult by then & could just legally change my name. told him no-i wanted him on my birth certificate as he was the best dad i could have asked for. so, i am officially the oldest adopted child in island county washington. i'm 65 & dad lives next door. we have a gate in the fence & he eats dinner w/me every night. sadly, my mom passed 6 yrs ago. marrying him was the best thing she could have done for me. he is my rock.

Unless there was a serious conversation about wanting a pet beforehand and what kind of pet to get etc. After our first family cat passed away, we all agreed we wanted a new one; my sister's birthday was the first one to come up after losing our previous kitty, so Dad said they were going for a drive to pick out her present together. She thought she was getting a bike, but they went to the animal shelter. Together they adopted a cat that best suited our family's requirements. And that, dear pandas, is the way to "gift" pets. Unanimous consent up front. Pets should never be a surprise. Even if the pet is for a young child, bring them along and offer them a few options to choose from.

I’m a massive animal lover. I’ve always had pets. Still do. But if my partner bought me one as a Mother’s Day gift from my child I would wonder why he was buying a gift for himself and my child rather than a gift for me. I would be the one training it, feeding it, cleaning up after it and walking it while they just play with it until they get bored. A pet is not a gift, it’s a serious responsibility and a big commitment, not something you stick a bow on to make yourself feel good.

No where in the post does it say that the pup is from the kid. It says "My Wife's mother's day present". I assume (maybe incorrectly) that he got it for her. I feel like as long as the husband knows the wife wants a pup, and what sort then it's not a bad gift. Personally, I'd like to see the pup(s) first, but if someone got me a pup of the right breed when I said I was looking for one I'd be stoked.

Depending on why bio Mom gave you up. Did she really want to kill you? As in: you were born and she did something. Or was she contemplating abortion? The first one is dark and deserves this card. For the second circumstance this card might be very bad, unless she has this kind of humor. I don‘t know what happened but there are so many reasons why a woman might want an abortion. Plus: many women who give up their kids for adoption, do not really want to but have no other choice or want to give their child the best opportunity. I don‘t know, I don‘t like the card.

I'd give it to the mom that raised me. She's the one that would most likely have wanted to kill you. My oldest son; I wanted to bury him in the back yard and not dig him up until he was 21. I still think that was too soon to this day. ( he's 40 ).

It's a gift as long as you know they actually want it. I wouldn't give my Mum a puppy (even though she adores them) because she's made it clear she doesn't want to look after one. But if she told me she wanted to get one but hadn't found one yet, I'd definitely consider it.
