Because malapropism is hands-down one of the most hilarious linguistic mishaps with a powerful comic spell that no one is immune to. The term refers to the unintentionally humorous misuse or the distortion of a word or a phrase, especially when it’s a word which sounds very similar to the right one.
“Bone Apple Tea” is an iconic example which has a whole subreddit named after it. With a solid number of followers, 1 million, to be precise, this online community is Reddit’s powerhouse where people share some of the best malapropism sightings they’ve encountered themselves or spotted online and had to take a screenshot for everyone to see.
The group’s description says: “Like when the food hella good, you say bone apple tea, it's like french or some shit,” and there’s nothing left to add, so I leave the stage to your cringes and raised brows. To find out more about Reddit’s powerhouse, Bored Panda reached out to the Bone Apple Tea subreddit’s moderator team who were happy to share some insights about the community. “It's been a pretty steady progression since we started,” the moderators said and added that “I don't think any of us expected to hit 1 million.” After 5 years from its creation, the subreddit has reached a solid 1M member count, but its audience is likely to continue soaring.

But there’s definitely a lot of work when it comes to keeping Bone Apple Tea’s content entertaining and making sure the community is constantly active. Turns out the moderator team has recently taken on a batch of new mods to help run the subreddit, as well as have a few bots running around to weed out misspellings.
“We have a list of banned words that are reposted at least 25 times a day—if we allowed them, our sub would be nothing but the same 5 malapropisms. By keeping the list, we try to ensure that there is enough variety for people to keep coming back,” they told us.

Moreover, “Malapropisms are in that niche where even if you are completely fluent in English, you still run the risk of using the wrong word and looking like a fool,” they said and added that “maybe people just want reassurance that they aren't alone.”

This many people with spelling and pronunciation issues is a troubling sign.
I'm pretty fluent in written English but these misspellings give me a very hard time. Most of the time I can't figure out what word is that supposed to be, probably because I don't know many accents and my pronounciation is a little off. That, children, is why grammar matters. At a certain level of incorrect grammar/spelling, you will NOT be understood.
Quite a lot of these mis-spellings happen because people hear a word spoken, but they don't do enough reading to know how it looks when written. The common confusion of 'tongs' and 'tongues' is an example. Also, with less reading, vocabularies are smaller. Some people just don't know the correct word for something, and just guess at something that sounds similar. So many don't seem to know that 'wander' and 'wonder' are two completely different words. I despair every time I read "He wondered aimlessly about the room."
When I was a child, I had to miss school one day because I needed to have an "autopsy".
This happens a lot with the words flustered and frustrated; I have heard so many people say flustrated it's insane
When I worked in an ER, we had a woman come in and said she thought she had "Spinal Moanin' Jesus."
This is by far the best post I've ever read. I made myself sick laughing. Sent it to about 16 friends and family.

In fairness, some of these may be a.) voice to text mistakes, where the person didn't stop to check how their phone's computer misinterpreted what they said before hitting send. I've definitely made that mistake. b.) People who've learned English as a second language. c.) (I suspect that this is most of them) People who didn't have access to a decent public school. I had access to good public schools as I grew up and I remember how the teachers had to force me to learn to use grammar properly through many tedious lessons, wherein I sometimes behaved well, but often dragged my feet and acted like an obnoxious little brat. Had I not had those patient, thick-skinned teachers where would I be? Making Ms. steaks and righting bad! That's where!
Reading these made me laugh so much. Haven't had a good laugh in ages thank you so much
