Then they abandon you, and you hope the host has a dog or cat you can spend the rest of the evening with, because your bestie is also your ride. Then your bestie hooks up with someone, and you end up at the party, with the host’s dog or cat, having to find your own way home. The lesson here is to always either drive yourself, or make sure you always carry enough cash with you for cab fare home if the party’s some place that isn’t on a cheaper bus or subway or light rail route that stops near your house. Oh, and been there, done that, as the friend left behind in favor of a hookup (yes, while chilling with the dog or cat). Glad I had cash in my pocket.
