It could be a practical thing for bugs? maybe. "Yellow and amber LED lights will attract the fewest number of insects and bugs. White and blue LED lights attract the most amount of bugs, with ultraviolet and green LED lights also attracting bugs. Red LED lights are the least appealing to bugs—but unfortunately can be less useful for human use."
Architecture has the ability to evoke a range of emotions. While some architectural features captivate us with their beauty and elegance, others have a strange ability to make us feel uncomfortable and uneasy. These eerie structures, often called "creepy," have a special way of making people react strongly when they see them. But what makes them so spooky? Why do certain architectural features have the uncanny ability to make us feel afraid, worried, or uneasy? We reached out to Francis McAndrew, Ph.D., the Cornelia H. Dudley Professor of Psychology at Knox College, to learn more about that.
According to the professor, as a result of evolution, our brains are naturally programmed to be cautious in places that could potentially be risky or dangerous. “Thus, we get creeped out by places that lack what psychologists call ‘legibility.’ Legible environments are easy for us to navigate in. We feel as if we can wander around and not get lost. Creepy places lack legibility. There are a lot of hiding places for bad things that may be out to get you and escape might be difficult because it would be easy to get lost in such a place. Architectural features that make a place seem confusing or unsafe may give us the creeps.”

There is a lot of potential here, but you have it wrong. Put mini speakers in the grass to make rhythmic stick cracking noises and put lights long the path with Passive infra-red sensor but rigged to turn the lights off when someone gets close to the lights. Cosy

Our minds have an amazing ability to create detailed pictures in our heads and try to make sense of things we don't fully understand. According to McAndrew, creepiness is all about uncertainty and ambiguity. “We do not know for sure if there are scary things lurking in dark basements and attics, but imagining that they might be keeping us vigilant and wary in the uncertain environment.”

Those were built among factories at first. Than earth became valuable, and factories are forsaken or replaced behind the cities borders. So that's the picture. I like them, didn't know what it is as a child, so it still gives me space fantasy vibes. But not this one, these are creepy.

Nah, not scary. Just some farmer expressing his faith. A light up cross (or Jewish star - whatever) in the middle of a farmer's field is nothing really. It's the nut jobs screaming at women outside a clinic WBC screaming at gays about how God hates them. That's the scary stuff IMO. And unfortunately every religion seems to have some.

That place is haunted AF I went there on Vacation, took pictures of a dark empty hospital, that came out with several lights, and a figure in a window. There IS NO POWER. Not surprising though so many people died a sweaty, breathless, horrible death there.

For who's asking: Happened in December 2011 at Ardrossan Wind Farm, Ayrshire. Hurricane Bawbag/Friedhelm brought gales up to 160 mph to the area. The wind turbines went in stand-down mode, with the blades feathered and the brakes engaged. The mechanical lock brake failed and could not stop the turbine from spinning, causing a power surge and failure of the generator. The dynamo separated and was blown by the wind, the smoke plume in the photo is misleading, the motor is actually falling left to right. Damage to the plant was limited to the 2MW, £350.000 Vestas V80/2000 turbine, for a loss of about 6% of rated power of the installation.

It kind of does if let your mind play with the size. BTW, Audubon says no to the pegs. It gives bigger predator birds who can't fit in, a perch to stand on while they stick just their head in and eat the babies. So - no peg is safer for them. According to them anyway. I'm no expert

Ugh. I hate thinking about nothingness. I really do. One time I went with my family onto this high mountain, and it was foggy. Looking back down on the city, you couldn’t see anything. It was all fog and rain and ugh white nothingness is so much worse and freaky than black nothingness, because you see it so often in shadows while white nothingness is almost unnatural

Did they actually finish it? I think it's an evil building because of poor engineering choices, like leaving the concrete structure abandoned and open to the elements for 30 yrs.

This monastery has the monks playing with a big red exercise ball. The high ranked monks hit the ball into the novices with a loud "HA!" and the novices run around protecting the small statues of cherubs shouting back "Ere, watch the kids mate!" It's the church of St Red Orbus, patron saint of child stunning

That reminds me of a goosebumps story! Some people came to this amusement park, but couldn’t leave. Their car blew up, and… I’m not sure what else happened. Some aliens lived in the park or something? The rides were dangerous?

As you stand mesmerized by the tunnel’s geometrical beauty… a white figure appears out of the haze. At first, it’s almost perfectly blended in the white, but as they get closer, you see discernible features on their face. Two pitch black eyes, no mouth, and no nose. Just two black beads looking at you as they walk closer

I've heard of this being done intentionally to make way for a roadway or train track but maintaining the facades on the front for the people living across the street from those buildings, so it still looks nice & uniform. I learned it from Sherlock (the BBC one)
